“…Douglas-Roberts has gone from a Nets’ starter to a sub and hasn’t liked how some things have been handled on and off the court. He didn’t say specifically that it will affect whether James considers the Nets during free agency this summer. But Douglas-Roberts, who is represented by the same agent as James, Leon Rose, said he has an idea where the reigning MVP is going and he probably won’t try to recruit him to New Jersey.
“I can’t do that,” Douglas-Roberts said after the Nets prepared for tonight’s game against James and the Cavaliers. “It’s a bigger picture. It’s a bigger picture than me. It’s bigger than that…
…James recently filed papers with the league to change his uniform number from 23 to 6 next season. He would have to do that only if he remains with his current team. You could make the argument James did it just in case he stays. Speculation has been he could leave for the Nets, Knicks or Heat.
“They don’t know,” Douglas-Roberts said. “But there’s an understanding. I can’t just say I know what he’s going to do. Everybody in our camp has a good feeling for what might happen — what might happen. We don’t know for sure. Things could change…”
We all know how much agents play a role in the league.
Forget the Lebron stuff and even Mike D’Antoni for a second. What happened to CDR and the Nets? He was putting in serious work for a little while this year, then gets no minutes?

Sounds like NY to me but I won’t get my hopes up.
The “understanding” might be a 4 letter word that starts with N and ends with E.
Just my opinion though.
Stay Patient My Friends
The Nets are the biggest enigma in basketball. Was Vince Carter really holding that entire team together? They have enough talent to be a 20-30 win team. They win 5 games all season and then suddenly trash the Celtics at home? That doesn’t add up.
Yep! It only adds up because the crafty Rod Thorn has a plan up his sleeve. This teams has talent and pieces. If they get even one real Superstar to go with this bunch, they’ll be real contenders again next year period. Oh yeah, they need a real coach too. They could use a Van Gundy there.
They’re being smart and holding out to getting the biggest chance at Wall, Turner or Favors. Remember, they have 2 1st rounders. They’ve been really intelligent these last few years. They’ve known perfectly how to deal away the big pieces they’ve had to get picks and rebuild. I wonder if DW could’ve done something like that with Marbury if he hadn’t been sent to Pringle’s “you’ve been a bad boy” corner. Those well planned rebuilding process turn out to be more successful than 2 year turn arounds.
LBJ seems to touch even the crappiest players…. wow.
But anyway, I could not careless about what CDR thinks, says, does, bla, bla, bla.
This is a Knicks Blog, I don’t care what CDR thinks. I like CDR’s game and only want to hear about him if he is in some trade rumor this summer coming to the KNICKS. otherwise WHO CARES?
CDR has a problem with his coach.. sounds familiar no?
but seriously.. who cares what he says? i love how Lebron has all these self proclaimed “pals”…
I wonder why we give CDR’s comments any weight but completely dismiss Eddy C who has the same agent and larry Hughes who was a previous team mate and alleged texting buddy of LJ.
Let talk about who this franchise changing star is that Lord Donnie will be bringing here in July..
On the previous thread i counted maybe 6 of these players in the whole.. who people come out to see and make their team mates better.
And please dont tell me Rudy Gay is a star.
Rudy Gay is a star
I love Rudy Gay and I think he’ll eventually be a star if he isn’t already, but if we got Chandler under a rookie contract that 12mil should be spent elsewhere, namely a PG or a Center not named David Lee.
What’d you do with the money Biggie? You think DW and co jumps ship if his plans fails?
Interesting article by Alan Hahn
http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/the-knicks-fix-1.812055
very little blame actually given to the coach in that piece..
Rudy Gay is NOT a star by Dee’s and MY definition
I was totally just saying that to get under your skin. I think Gay has the potential to be a star but never will because of his attitude, or aloofness so I agree with you in that regard, and the article does put blam eon D’Antoni and calls him out for stupid stuff but at the same time tries to straddle the fence too much in the end which I think ruins it
I have a source that says there’s a huge sign on D’Antoni’s office door that says “Out to Lunch! We’ll be back in 2010-11″
Can you confirm this Tommy Dee?
What did he order?
Yeah odd situation with CDR. I think he talks too much to the press and he basically thinks hes a star in the way he speaks to the press. He has been pretty critical of the Nets coaching staff. He should not be talking about something like that to the press.
By the way, just wanted to bring up Crybaby Hughes quote that its an unwritten rule in this leage to not bench someone after coming back from injury. I may be wrong, but isnt that exactly what just happened with the Spurs and Mike Finley. I didn’t hear him crying to the press, he just got bought out and didn’t even complain(that I know of. I could be wrong) Anyway, just wanted to bring that up because I hate Larry Hughes. I hear Charlotte’s interested, I wonder how long it takes until Coach Brown benches him and he cries yet again. Good luck charlotte.
Somebody needs to take CDR’s twitter account away from him.
The Nets are a perfect example on how to totally gut your team. They get a few really good pieces in the draft, acquire first round picks as you gut the team, then totally tank the season so that you are assured to get at least a very good pick in the lottery. Yet have almost the same cap space as the Knicks.
So here’s a team with a huge cap space, a true 7 foot young allstar center, some really good players around him and a plethora of picks including number ones and lottery picks. Not to mention some players of value that can be used in trades.
Now look at our beloved knicks…….no picks, no center, no players other than 4 who have no trade value, none of those players are even close to the talent of the Nets young players and about the same cap space, maybe a little more. Wow Walsh did a bang up job!!!! Thanks Donnie.
Please explain why NJ has the record they have.
Then explain to me how they will be able to get a star.
All this so called talent they have and they won’t even win 10 games this season.
Wow….ok.
Also, please explain to me how the Nets almost have the amount of cap room we have.
Do you know how much they have and how much we have?
So wait, the guys have one of the top PG’s in the league, one of the C’s with the brightest future under the right tutelage, and all around nice pieces in Lee, T-Will and Yi who would make an unbelievable bench if you ask me, and they have about 26 mil dollars for the next summers and more if they don’t pick up Boone’s QO.
Has it occured to you they’re tanking this season? They have 2 picks (the 2nd one could actually end up being a top 20 where they got Harris from Dallas for Kidd) coming up in this draft and it’s not a stretch to think they want to have a shot at either Wall, Turner or Favors. They’ll have a young squad, almost entirely drafted by them.
They’ll have money to tempt a star, and surround them with strong pieces that can potentially turn them into perennial contender.
Big difference from our current present.
lol, That’s why you can’t reason with Donnie’s Grandson DVJ! He still can’t see how Rod Thorn would wipe the floor with him as an executive.
I think DVJ knows this but he also knows where his butter is at too!
lol You have DVJ crying his eyes over those words!
And when they move to Bklyn, they’ll be really attractive to free agents.
I’m from Brooklyn and it’s always been basketball first. I think the population of Brooklyn right now is 2.5 million people plus and another 1/2 mil on Staten island and close to 3 million right next door in Queens.
http://brooklyn.com/population.html
So that’s 6 million people right there to fill their stadium and it’s still New York. People that don’t live here have no idea what Brooklyn is like…LOL….it can be it’s little country.
The Nets will own the city as long as Dolan still owns the Knicks.
Plus people like DVJ forget just a few years ago the Nets, yes those lowly Nets were a championship caliber team.
Keep drinking the kool aid.
