Chandler’s Block…..x2

I love how Knicks.com WAY WAY WAY over-hyped Chandler’s block. They literally called it “the block heard round the (NBA) world” and “Wilson Chandler’s game saving monster rejection.”

Lets not get carried away James Dolan. The Knicks won their 22nd game.

I still plan on making that Chandler-on-Smith block as a poster soon though.

  • BigDaddybluesman

This is what frustrates me about Chandler, he has so much potential but….

So many games his disappears defensively and offensively. Just when it looks like this guy will be a force he regresses. I have to say the same thing about Gallo. If both players spend this off season doing what DLee did last year then by all means they are a good core of players to build something with, as it is right now they are NOT.

  • Knicks fan in Taiwan

That was beautiful–and incredibly timely! This is the first chance I had to see it. Thanks for posting it. The Nets embarrassment literally caused me to not check when the next game was. And then they go and beat the Hawks for the third time. Well, you never know with sports. Hope Big C does a highlight reel for this one.

  • HaS

Guess who had Josh Smith in the corner before he made a b-line for the basket?

  • BiggieSmalls

    LMAO>> good call.

  • Kwayry

That was a foul by Smith on Douglas. Great D by Chandler.
But what was Lee doing? Was he bird watching or got blinded by the lights? That sequence is why Lee is not a $12 Million man.

  • Mucha

    lol now that is funny.

  • BluEandOrange

If you look at the photograph when Chandler blocks Smith, you can see Lee in the bottom left corner. He actually looks like he’s appalled that Chandler is playing defense. His body language looks like its saying “Dammit Chandler! Stop making me look bad with your defensive capabilities, blocking shots and such nonsense!”

  • BluEandOrange

Lee tried to help defend as he saw Crawford raise up but Smith makes a nice play to the basket and Crawford sees him in mid-air to make the deft pass. Can’t really blame Lee on that one. Wow, I can’t believe I just said that.

Stop it with your kool-aid madness DVJ!

  • BluEandOrange

Last point to make: just imagine if the Knicks had a defensive presence in the paint throughout an entire game! I can see the colorful rainbows, beautiful flowers, and Bill Walton’s smiling face just thinking about it.

  • BiggieSmalls

Lee simply let his man (Smith) Run down the base line unchecked.

How about Chucketts standing at the three point line watching the whole play develop?

  • Hydr0

yeah yeah yeah…Lee sucks on defense…we heard it 1000 times…what’s new

I have to say, it’s almost been a full day now and I still can’t believe Chandler made that block. Once i saw Crawford (of all people) taking the ball down the court with seven seconds left, I thought it was over..when I saw him pass to smith for a dunk I knew we lost. Great play by Chandler, maybe the best play of the year.

  • Kwayry

Clyde always said see the ball and the man, Lee forgot about the last part.
Love Lee on the offensive side, can knock down a J, good rebounder.
A center he is not, a $12 million man he is not. Knicks still have to pay a Center to cover up for his defensive liabilities.
If you play for the Knicks, play D man or you get no respect.

  • BluEandOrange

Wow, are you actually becoming desensitized from Lee’s defense, or should I say lack of it? I personally find it hilarious and don’t see myself ever finding it not funny. _avid_ for the win!

  • BluEandOrange

Forgot to retract the final ‘d’

One more time: _avi_ for the win!

  • Hydr0

heh, you’re right…i’ve become numb to it. I’m like one of those guys in an action movie that gets tied to a chair and punched in the face over and over again…it doesn’t hurt anymore…it is what it is

hopefully Lee is not here after this year

BTW…I felt so bad for Toney Douglas after Horford took that shot. He looked like he wanted to kill himself. He’s a great kid (even though he went to FSU lol) and I hope this served as a good learning experience for him. I hope D’antoni keeps him in there so he can continue to learn these things while the games don’t really count anymore. Just stay calm Toney, protect the ball and let them foul you. I think he will handle it the right way next time.

  • pak14life

u guys are such haters lee actually played decent d yesterday even giving a couple of hard fouls.

  • Hydr0

he played decent d…which means average…are we supposed to get excited about that?…after multiple years of playing awful on the defensive end…please

  • Mucha

David Lee played better D yesterday though.

Relatively mediocre – but not awfully bad. The hard fouls were nice.

  • pak14life

not excited a sign of improvement which is all u can ask for. we all know dlee is a hardworking kid and for the haters to keep hating on him is ridiculous. I say this offseason he works on his d and by next season hell be passable on d.

  • harris

Another good game for Jordan Hill tonight.

  • TG

The really amzaing thing from yesterday?

    Chuckit’s passed the ball.

    Once.

  • DVJ

    Jordan Hill

    11 pts 8 rebounds in 27 minutes.

  • ds2488

Haha. I noticed that right away. He completely lost track of Smith and wasn’t even looking. And I thought that was one of his “best” defensive games of the year. Haha

  • bob go knicks

are you saying Donnie the Genius made an error?

  • Mucha

I think Mike D’Antoni did a terrible job with Jordan Hill.

What a waste of talent. He didn’t even try to increase his trade value.

  • ds2488

Dantoni’s player development this year has been absolutely disgraceful. On a team this bad, it is beyond ridiculous that Hill barely got any minutes and Douglas is just starting to now. Beyond ridiculous. Who even knows how badly Dantoni’s refusal to play Hill cost us?

  • jws366

Relax, they are 22 and 21 years old respectively. They are also putting up 15/5/2 and 14/5/1.6 respectively. How can you possibly be hating on these players that are only overhyped because they play in New York. Give them a few years and the guidance of a superstar like Lebron and you have 2 supporting players around the age of 25 putting up something like 18/8/2. I wouldnt be complaining about that…and neither should you. Its Gallinari’s FIRST full season for christ’s sake.

  • jws366

Hindsight is 20/20. Were you hating on the trade when it happened? Same goes for the post below me.

  • jws366

    Or above me, rather.

  • HaS

Anyone find it interesting how Toney Douglas gets a DNP against a 6 win team and then he gets 24 mins against a 40 win team?

Was the “coach” up to his old tricks?

  • HaS

    “11 pts 8 rebounds in 27 minutes.”

Good thing we threw in those picks (2011, 2012 1st’s and a 2nd rounder) to sweeten the deal, they would have never taken that bum Hill or Jeffries’ valuable expiring (next year) off our hands without them.

  • HaS

“we all know dlee is a hardworking kid”

    Speak for yourself.

    He coulda fooled me.
