Tough call for me here in terms of bringing back Harrington. He’s a good guy and can score. He has struggled in terms of moving the ball and is a better defender than what he’s shown. I think he could be a good piece on a good team…at the right number.

Im thinking 7th man at 3 mil per getting 22 minutes per game and hoisting up 10-12 shots?
He has clearly been over used and over exposed under this coaches short rotation. I fear with this coach he would see 30 plus minutes a night and have the perpetual green light with no accountability.

He’s read the coaching staff wasn’t happy with his ball movement or defense. Yet D’Antoni never spoke to him.

See the thing with Al is that while it is easy to use him as the whipping boy the truth is that MD has tried to make a star out of a stud bench player. This guy is a really good but flawed roll player who can help any team if used properly! This coach has no idea how to make the most out of players and how to use them properly. As many flaws as the players on our team have is there one that has more flaws then this coach? Al at 3 mil (or there about) off the bench is a great look with a coach who understands Al’s game and can maximize it off the bench.

Yea Baby Al has been playing on bad knees mostly the last half of the season. Ive always like Al the minute we got him, I just get frustrated with his not looking to dish and I thought I saw better defense from him at Golden State.
Al could be a good talent off the bench ie Vinny Johnson.

Yet D’antoni never told him.” While the coaching staff should have said something, I find it really hard to believe that a 10 year veteran in this league isn’t aware that never passing the ball and never giving any effort on defense is something that would make the coaching staff happy. That just seems ridiculous to me…Any casual observer who watches a Knick game one of the first things they always see and say is how much of a ballhog Al Harrington is. Considering the guy promised earlier in the year to the press to be more of a playmaker and pass the ball more..this just seems like a load of hot air out of Berman to yet again attack the coach who exiled his lover. Also, Clyde mentions every game the “matador defense” of AL Harrington at least 3 times a game. Just ridiculous. He is such a fraud and while I like how much work Berman puts into his articles and his scooping..it just gets ridiculous sometimes with him. Why doesn’t he just go to China so he can cover his lover and the saint that is Stephon Marbury.
Pro ball players are a different breed.. They dont see clearly through the trees.. that’s what coaches are for

true. I agree with that to a certain extent, but with Al its always the same issue. Didn’t Don Nelson say to a newspaper when Harrington was leaving and they were having that bitter back and forth something like “AL thinks he’s a superstar but he’s not”. Theres just some guys who never learn, along with Hughes that they are not as good as they think they are. If the coach feels he needs their production, it may be tough to approach some guys to tell them that without alieniating them. BTW, I agree that the coach needs to say something and some blame has to go on him, but there’s a certain point with guys like Harrington where you just begin to think they are losers through and through and no coach is going to be able to get them to change. I mean, Al also considers himself a “veteran leader”, I don’t know any other veteran leaders that only play with any energy when they have a chance to get buckets, and not give a crap about anything else on the court. I just think the guy is delusional and tough to really approach.
i know he shoots a lot most of the time when he is in the game he is really our best scorer …i know people think he chucks but when he doesnt try and just shoot 3′s he can be pretty effective…hes quick for his size and has a knack for gettin to the hoop..his problem is he settles for the contested outside shot to much …i think if we had a good team he could be a perfect 6th man who comes in as the primary scorer off the bench and he could be really good at that and prolly win the 6th man …look at jamal crawford…he’s now on a good team as the 6th man and everyones acting like he is so much better when realy hes just on a good team…al could be the same type of player but as said at the right price and i think that if we were able to land a lebron james plus maybe a chris bosh i really think al would come back on teh cheap to play for a winner at the garden..its not like he hasnt made a ton of money off his last contract so he needs to get the most money he can …i def dont want him back to be a primary player ….i also really like rudy gay id rather have him than joe johnson

1- Toney Douglas (i know its a small sample but if we get Lebron then we dont need an expensive player at the point plus i think the kid has potential to be pretty good)
2- Lebron …i dont need to explain
3- Rudy Gay (unless we can land bosh, Maybe sign and trade?)
4- Wilson Chandler (Wilson shows so many flashes of bein a really good player and playing with Lebron would only make him look that much better)
5- Marcus Camby (I have been wishing for a player like camby for years and he would def come back to teh garden for the MLE if we have these players around him)

i cant wait to watch a playoff game at MSG it has been way to long since theres been a meaningful game there…i know everyone talks about why would Lebron leave the team he has in cleveland but if we were able to put this roster together then this team would def be better than his team with cleveland this year….i cant honestly believe that mo williams would have made the all star team last year if he wasnt playing with Lebron he just makes the players around him that much better and thsi would give him the best shot at a title and as other players have said NYC isnt just the center of the USA its the marketing center of the world and with him being in NY he would be on the same level as Tiger Woods (Pre-cheat)
