T-Mac’s First Game: A Loyal Fan’s take

by Tommy Dee on March 18th, 2010 at 6:45 am

Loyal Gym Rat Dan from Westcheddar.com emailed me this a while back, and since I never check that particular email address I just saw it today. Check out his thoughts on McGrady’s debut at the Garden. If you were at that game, the buzz that night at the Garden hadn’t been felt, in my opinion, in years. That energy is special.

“…Big game last night, and the whole Isenberg Fam was in the building for it.  Shout to my pops, Jimmy I, for coming through with the tickets.  We’d been talking about going to a Knicks game for a while, and I told him the Oklahoma City Thunder was the team to check for right now.  Durant is a scoring machine, and Westbrook is a problem.  Turns out with Tracy McGrady and the rest of the new Knicks making their debut last night after some hyped up trades, we picked the right game to attend.

The Garden was definitely rocking and filled to capacity.  I saw John Starks as we were walking to our seats in the hallway (ironic because McGrady is sporting his #3 now see below), and all I could think to do was yell right in his face “LEGEND”.  He appreciated it.  My wife, who supposedly “loved John Starks” as a teenage girl because she felt bad that he had to wear that mask on his face when he broke his nose back in the day, missed the Starks sighting.  She was too busy talking to my sister about baby furniture or some shit…view entire article.”

This just in: Tracy McGrady sucks. Like really, really sucks. A bigger man wouldn’t say I told you so, but I’m not a bigger man. He is a walking corpse out there. Besides not guarding anyone he now chucks up contested jumpers like he’s got the Harrington virus. Can we move on yet?

Usually takes a year to come back from the knee surgery, give him the off season to work out with Grover some more. Have DW make him a 3mil deal to hang around and see what happen when more new blood come in 2010-2011 season. I feel with the right players and most def a CENTER who guards the paint and can be used on a pick and roll, McGrady can only help revive us. JMHO
Im not ready to close the book but Ive noticed his poor defense and he is trying to make shots that he is used to going in

We really need DW to get some balls and tell MIke he is bringing in someone that can teach the new crop in 2010-2011 to play defense, how to trust one another and develop defensive schemes. This MUST be done during training camp and before exhibitions or we’ll be watching our guys doing the ole “HOLEE” matador thing again and losing.

3 Mil is too much for McGrady…. given what he has shown

Vets minimum of 1.5.. only counts 750k against the cap for players with his service time.

Agreed, Biggie. 3 mil is way too much, vets min is enough. If he wants it, great, if not, good riddance.
I do think that if the guy’
T-Mac does not play D, true. But with this coach, not many are going to. I would want to see him if he had 3 months to work to really focus on his game and physical state, to come back in the proper state..
And who here hasn’t asked for a defensive coordintor?
Pringles’ way too stubborn o bring in a guy who applied what the world knows as defense in to his court.
