“…Last night’s Raptors game, wherein they squeezed out a win over the Atlanta Hawks, played out like an awkward date at the end of a once passionate relationship. After Bosh scored his 10,000th NBA point and became the first Raptor ever to reach that milestone, the crowd showed its love with a standing ovation. Bosh, chillingly, didn’t respond.
Basically, it went down like this:
Toronto: I love you, Chris. Maybe we should talk about spending our lives together.
Bosh [looking awkwardly at menu]: I wonder if the prix fixe comes with a drink…”

Why would he hold his experience with the team against the fans?
Can you say douche?
+1 HaS
and im really starting to think that this guy will not sign with a wade or LBJ .. he wants his OWN team
In the end, they all want to own their teams, independently on whose around them. This, of course, changes when you play for your country, when you’re willing to play with anyone whose as good or better than you are to achieve your goals.
The NBA, however, is different.
Gonna be a interesting summer
I always got the impression that Bosh was just a really cool and calm guy. That may be completely mistaken, I am hoping its not because thats a pretty ridiculous thing to do to fans who are cheering for you.
Agreed, when you got thousands of people applauding your effort, it’s the right and loyal thing to to return the favor, in a mere show of your appreciation.
Bosh IS a very calm and collected dude and he’s the epitome of a true professional and class act.
One thing about Toronto fans is that they are very sensitive, very prideful and very appreciative of their stars, if it’s reciprocated. And Bosh has ALWAYS showed his fans love. Always. It’s obvious how much he loves Toronto and his fans up there and you have to understand that in that situation when he hit his 10,000 point, they were down to the Hawks, not playing particularly well, and had just lost 5 straight games. Also, Bosh was something like 3 for 14 at the time so he was struggling. In that moment, he was focused. In his video interview today (which you can watch on Raptors.com) he said that it was “really special for him to get 10,000 in a Raptors uniform, that it was a great feeling and that he was too focused on the game at the time. That he wished he could celebrate more but that there’d be plenty of time for that later”.
I guess that makes sense.
Thanks for the intel.
Maybe they were cheering in french, and he didnt understand them
lmao. No one in Toronto speaks french though.
That’s only in Quebec, and the rest of Canada’s trynna get them to seperate. Ouch.
What a clown!! Then people wonder I dont give a flying &@!K about signing him!! By the way 7 by 7 in my bracket!! How are you guys doing?
Gay + Boozer = good summer?
Thoughts?
Just curious.
Personally, no.
As far as consolation prices go, I’ll take it, but if it can come with a PG and a C I’ll be as happy a camper as the next guy.
I think those are the 2 most available young free agents who will go where the money is.
Boozer is all about the money, he left LeBron once already. He’ll end up in Miami if Stoudemire decides to go somewhere else, but I think it’s safe to say Amar’e will be in a Heat uniform next year.
Gay wants to come here and regardless of what Memphis says if you pay him enough they will not match.
LeBron is going to sign a short contract/one with an out after 2 or 3 years.
Wade is staying in Miami once Amar’e is secured.
I think Bosh may go to Chicago, if he really hates Toronto he may consider the Knicks though.
That’s about the size of it.
Of course these are just my opinions, none of us truly know what’s going to happen obviously lol.
I agree pretty much with your points. Bosh is the most likely to become a FA, but his destination remains a mystery to me. Amare probably already booked his flight to South Beach and Boozer’ll definitely go where the money, so anywhere seems about right..
Neither Gay or Boozer are worth max money, but it seems that they’ll both have to be overpaid to go wherever they end up. If NY’s it, they’ll get more than they deserve. This is gonna be the likely scenario when James and Wade staying put.
Still, you gotta hope they take their shot at the agency.
overpaying for GAY and BOOZER? Really? Didn’t we already have an equivalent to this situation two years ago when we were overpaying for RANDOLPH and CRAWFORD?
In my opinion if we wind up overpaying for those two, this summer is a bust. we might as well have kept crawford and zbo and made trades to improve instead of wasting two years to put ourselves in the same position we were already in.
If we can sign these guys for the right price and also be able to afford either a PG or C then i guess it’s alright.
but i’ll say it again… overpaying for GAY/BOOZER will have made the last two years a complete waste of time.
If Wade and James stay put, it’s gonna be a tight fight for Bosh, Amare, Boozer, and Johnson. You can bet that at least 1 the last 2 will end up being overpaid.
dont get me wrong. im not disagreeing with you that it very well might happen. i’m just saying, we already had an overpayed PF and an overpayed SG and it would be a shame to have waited all this time to be back where we started.
It’d definitely be a shame, but nobody can assure us the James, Wade or Bosh are testing the FA. I think Bosh, not sure on the other.
This team will have a big shot to go after the players they want, but should they stay put or deny the offer, Walsh is gonna be on a tight spot, looking to do anything to get 2nd tier players to come, like Johnson, Boozer, Amare, Gay ,etc.
It would horribly, but it’s a possible reality.
Gay + Boozer = suicidal tendencies
Gay + Boozer = unlimited joke potential
Depend on how much they get them for 13 Mil each yes
no way has,i didnt watch years of boring hoops to end up with boozer n gay.Isnt gay a 3? our entire team will be 3s.another question.does boozer play any dee?
Yea I would be upset with that summer too. Just asking a question of my fellow Knick fans, it is something I could see as a possible worst case scenario. Trust me with MSG hype machine at full tilt they would make that look like a championship caliber lineup.
No.
Hell no!! lol Boozer is just good not great and gets hurt a lot and real talk he is on the back end of his career, he will never be better then he is now. Gay is really good but did we really do all this for gay who is great on some nights and a no show on others? He has been that way since collage. We will make the playoffs but thats about it.
were not getting bosh he said he doesnt want to be somebody’s sidekick
he wont itll be Bosh and Johnson
i think we end up with lbj, lee, camby, and maybe ridnour if td doesnt play well
Lee can kick rocks.
Lee is better used in a S&T than as a Knick next year.
im basing keeping lee on the dact that he will put in hard work this offseason like he has before and will be a PF next year. Honestly if we do get lbj which is a big IF he will get to chose who he wants. Lee wouldnt compete with him in terms of marketing the way wade and bosh would. Lee would be much quiter in a since then those two. Also a lebron-lee pick and roll combo is deadly no matter how much lee’s d sucks.
Personally, Lee’s gonna keep working on his game, but not on his D, that’s a given. The guy’s gonna ask for too much money, and he ain’t worth it.
can i borrow your crystal ball
It’s called personal opinion, you’re welcome to have one.
“can i borrow your crystal ball”
Oh the same “crystal ball” you used for this:
“im basing keeping lee on the dact that he will put in hard work this offseason like he has before and will be a PF next year.” ?
AAAAAHHHH! The sweet Cool Aid is still flowing. LeBron is not coming to play for this pathetic organization.
Actually, that has “TORONTO LIFE” thinking about life after Bosh. If you read any of Toronto’s newspapers last night, or listen to Bosh’s own words here (click on the video added today from Raptors practice)- http://www.nba.com/raptors/video/2010/03/17/RGI6100317HAWKSatTOR-1263386/index.html#
You’ll hear Bosh say “It felt really good. I was really focused at the time because we were down a few points, and I wanted to celebrate much more but I was focused. They’ll be a time for that later”
And Newspapers around Toronto that interviews GM Colangelo are all saying that, contrary to random articles like “Toronto Life”, the Raptors are actually preparing for life WITH Bosh.
Chris Bosh is far from an asshole and according to media people that cover him on a daily basis, he’s on of the few Raptors who they can ALWAYS count on to spend as much time as needed (win, lose, or practice) to answer questions. Fans up there have never gotten the impression (as far as I’m told- used to live there), that Bosh was giving backhanded comments to them or the city of Toronto. IN fact, out of all the top free agents this summer, Chris Bosh has handled the questions surrounding summer 2010 with the most class and the most tact. Leave it up to the media surrounding him to paint him in a different light….. but if you listen to Bosh’s own words and watch his demeanor this entire season, he’s been anything BUT cold or unresponsive to the fans of Toronto.
I just watched it myself, yea I think Tommy walked right into that one. I’m sure if he saw it himself he wouldn’t have fell for that one.
Why a Toronto newspaper would write something like that is puzzling. Maybe they’re just trying to get national exposure or cause a little controversy to sell papers.
Tommy, you’re better than that.
no,i dont think so
That’s the thing….. “Toronto Life” isn’t a newspaper, it’s a magazine— and one that knows nothing about basketball. It’s more of a current events and leisure magazine.
And I remember Bosh saying a few months ago, after he broke Vince Carter’s record for most points by a Raptor, that he was so proud to be at the top of the list and that he wanted to reach 10,000 next. He said it was a very special moment for him and the city of Toronto.
That article, written by “Toronto Life” is just irresponsible and presumptuous at best. Clearly, they haven’t been paying attention to Bosh, The Raptors, or President/ GM Colangelo this entire season. And I’m questioning whether they even watched this game, or saw a 10 second clip on the news and decided to speculate because they pressed for a deadline article, lol.
“irresponsible and presumptuos at best” Pretty much like every sportswriter i have ever read
LOL. Yeah fam. Pretty much.
I don’t think its about him wanting his own team. He wants to win. He has been pissed about un-winning ways of the players around him and the organization. He’s clearly frustrated. Isn’t this already his own team? How much more of ‘his own’ could it be. Does he want an even worse supporting cast? To twist this into the idea that he somehow doesn’t want to play with other elite players is a little far fetched.
He knows he can’t win by himself; he wants a better, more competetive team. And I’m not saying that team is NY; but in general i think its pretty obvious that these guys would like to play with eachother more than anything. For someone like lebron who already has pretty much the best team in the league, it’s harder to leave and gamble on that; but what does bosh have to lose now? I think its pretty clear miami’s plans are to go after bosh in order to keep wade, and everyone knows it they’re just waiting.
The perfect fantasy would be: as that’s going on, LeBron calls bosh and asks him to play with him in NY instead. Hah to dream.
When i think of the benefits (to lebron, not to us) of him possibly coming to NY, i think of this common saying; If we build it; they will come.
If LeBron comes, a huge storm will follow him here. If he comes, he knows bosh would come. He knows good veterans like ray allen or ginobli (just for example) would sign for cheap. He’s not at risk of being stuck with galo chandler and douglas, because one or more of these big guys would obviously follow and we have the money to bring them. It doesn’t work the other way though; If we sign bosh, it doesn’t necessarily mean lebron or wade will come… But LeBron knows that if he does decide to come, everything else will come into place perfectly and we have the money to execute it.
That’s the best thing we have going for us, and why it was worth the gamble, IMO. You’re talking about the chance at a dynasty.
The the best argument I’ve heard to date
Agree.
I also think LBJ is coming and if he doesn’t Lebron has a chance to become the most hated B-ball player in the league.
Why?
Because he has teased us since the beginning and like Tommy said, he could have just signed the extension.
What the hell does “keep my options open” mean?
I am more confused than when my girlfriend told me “I’m pregnant”.
I think he wanted to see how the Cavs perform this year and during the playoffs and also wanted to wait to see who freed up cap space.
nothing confusing about that!unless you dont have a penis
LMAO!
And where is all this money coming from. The Knicks do not have enough CAP space for 2 Max players and other strong pieces. Ray Allen or Ginobili will NOT sign for 500 k. Some of you guys just don’t get it…
Keep the Cool Aid flowing…
ill bet anyone that if lee isnt here next year ill never post again. If lee is here then you dont get to post.
Im here to say all you people who are saying J.R Giddens sucks be easy. The kid can play, I watched him at Kansas. He’s non stop energy and hustle ,defender, quick, decent ball handler and athletic like crazy. He’s can jump just as high as Bill Walker. All you who say we waisted a pick in Jordan Hill, and gave it away, look at it this way we got back to better players that you can consider draft picks in Bill Walker, and J.R Giddens. I hope we keep them both, they’re cheap and are athletic. Thats what this team has been in dire need of for a while. Here is a glimpse of what J.R can do:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoKejSN5hH4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoKejSN5hH4
there is ZERO shot LEE is here …. Gallo is the 4 … he’s already a better defender than Lee … you expect him to “work hard” this offseason ??
after he gets his contract? you must be kidding … this is a contract year .. he should have had the most incentive this season to show off his improvements on defense … Lee is much much more valuable to a team that has a shot blocking lockdown defender center and plays a halfcourt offense
so do we have a bet
Lee should not be on this team next year. But the only coach crazy enough to have a guy who plays that kinda defense masquerading as a big in some ass backwards system is mike Dantoni so you never know.
What about Gay plus Bosh ?
Toney
Gay
Gallo
Wilson
Bosh
Thoughts? I love this but I want Hassan Whiteside.. Shot Blocking MONSTER !
Ceiling is Dwight Howard and his Lowest Potential is Javale Mcgee.
Toney
Gay
Gallo
Bosh
Whiteside
On the first line up, I would switch Gallo and Will, and it’ll look good, but the team would suffer on the paint and reboundins, possibly.
The second one looks good also, but how do intend on getting Whiteside and have enough cash for Bosh and Gay? That’s why, imo, come draft day we’ll have a clear look at whether DW wants to go after 1 or 2 top guys.
Personally, while TD’s looking good and I really like what he brings to the team, I wouldn’t give him the starting shot just yet.
Gay and Bosh does seem like a very possible future.
I Dont Know Its Hard To Say because I Dont know where he would go in the draft.
True. Imo, I think he’s definitely a top 20 guy.
where do you guys get this stuff? so there is NO WAY that this guy will be any worse than Mcgee?i really dont know how you can possibly Know this
Just opinion, bob. Of course there’s no way to tell how they’ll develop or what type of player they’ll be like in the NBA or how they’ll handle it.
It’s just the stuff you get from watching them, hearing draft prospects analysis in the radio and reading scouts vision, and trying to project it in the draft, you know? Which in the end is speculation based on own perspectives.
All for the sake of a nice discussion in the unlikely case (my pov) that Walsh decides to go buy one or more late 1st rounders.
Gay + Bosh = Good summer. Very good.
wonder if donnie tries to grab greg monroe using wilson chandler and a late first
He wouldn’t have enoguh cash after that to go two top guys, or a Gay-Bosh combo, for example.
o k
Bosh is a very very talented big man but he’s a jerk. I honestly dont want him on the Knicks. I’d rather re-sign a cheaper D Lee who puts up similar numbers and is beloved in NY and use the saved money to get one premier guy like Joe Johnson and still have money for a Rudy Gay, Luke Ridnour and a Marcus Camby. Why dump the money on two guys? Would it be great? Yes. But is it realistic? No. Not unless we actually do sign Lebron before the others sign elsewhere. Then we might get another big guy but thats very questionable. I’d rather spread that money around and get a good 3, 4, 5 solid guys. I hope we can keep Bill Walker. I knew KNEW he’d do great in this system and unfortunately now the rest of the league is seeing the same thing.
exactly my arguments but the haters are about to enter shortly and are not gonna be objective at all. The man is playing out of position. And ur lying if u dont think his d has gotten better then last year. Even Bill SImmons said so a totally neutral observer.
I think going after a solid all around squad and one top guy is the solid way to go. Many are of the position that you sign 2 top guys + 2nd rounders you got your team according to the short rotation D’antoni maintains.
I’m split. I’d love to have 2 top guys, but I do think a solid team all around ande a game changer plus 2 o 3 reliable guys off the bench is the smarter thing to do.
Thing is, imo, James and Wade are the only real game changers that might be available, and I don’t see Wade agreeing to come here.
Bosh is a great player but hasn’t arrived at that point yet but still makes him a nice consolation price.
fully agree. the whole sign two max then use a bunch of min contract guys plan is stupid. just one injury away from being destroyed. its much smarter to get the max and then build around the max like u said. Guys like manu and ray and tmac(on the minimum) might be willing to sign for less if u get a lbj or wade.
This is why i think lee will be there next year. I could see him being lebrons sidekick. That PnR would be unstoppable with Gallo in the corner for the kick out.
If James was the guy to end up here, I do think many FA’s would be willing to take less money to come. The thing that’s difficult to tell is who’s gonna end up being a FA. Utah’s already thinking about offering Boozer more cash, and I don’t think Boston’s gonna let go of Allen so easily. If Manu, for example, ended up as a FA, I don’t know how much he’d be asking for.
Hence the tough situation. If James doesn’t come here, do you go for Johnson (who I don’t think is worth the max but he’ll comand it) or Wade (if he actually leaves South Beach) and build around him, or do you do that with Bosh and try to go for Gay at a cheaper price? The combinations are endless since there are many ways to turn the Knicks into a competing team.
We can’t forget that this team is in dire need of big men who can defend the paint, clog the lane and block, so Camby seems like a must for me. This also applies to the PG position, since the system is 100% PG guided. So whatever happens, DW’s gonna have to get creative and use EC + a player to get either a good C or a good PG, it’ll all depend on his success in during the summer.
So it really is a tough scenario since so many things can happen if just one guy says yes or no. This person being LBJ.
“Solid guys” don’t win championships.
agreed SILENTJAY
outside amare/bosh … the talent isnt very deep at the big man FA market..
swingmen on the level of joe johnson are easier to find ….
if they sign Camby tho … they MUST target big men in the draft to develop
how about
LBJ- 16m
camby- 8m
tyrus thomas- 8m
if they can get Camby on a 2 year deal … it can allow Gallo to stay at the 3 for another 2 seasons while he gets stronger … play LBJ at the 2 during that time.
thats a very very good defensive lineup
Douglas
LBJ
Gallo/Chandler
Thomas
Camby
That would make up for the size, blocking and rebounding, definitely. While I like Thomas’ energy, I really thought this season the kid was going to increase his scoring and rebounding. Of course, this may change next year based on the system he’ll be in, and I’m merely rushing to judge the guy as of now. You think he’s worth the 8 mil? His QO is of 6 mil if I’m not mistaken, but hey, that’s what the FA does to some players.
As much as I’d love to have James here, I think the more realistic scenarios are either Gay-Bosh or Gay-Boozer. Johnson is also an option of course, but I think that if Walsh can save a couple of mil in Gay’s contract, he’ll do it, to try and go for a big guy who commands less money. But of course it’s all a bunch of maybe’s. Then there’s the whole discussion of what will or can be done with EC’s contract, so there’s when it gets interesting, because you gotta round out your squad, and have at least 8 competitive players.
i want Samuel Dalembert !!
