Video: Toney Douglas

by Tommy Dee on April 5th, 2010 at 2:07 pm

We analyzed TD a few weeks back, and Big C from Fromthebaseline has taken it a step further. I couldn’t agree more that I’d like to see Douglas work on his mid-range game a bit more. That, to me, seems to be what separates guards in this league.

Although we now have tons of cap room, we could bring in God for cheap to mentor our PGs :D

    haha..nice!

In an NBA game, that’s a rip and a dunk for whoever is defending him.

Off topic: I was reading Real GM, and they said the Bobcats do not want to pay the luxury tax, therefore they are not re-signing Felton. I like Felton, but for how much $$$?

bigC analysis is ok i read an watch the vids he has on his site.

    t-doug has a long way to being a p.g
he has everything else but he lacks major p.g skills……

this could be due to danni boy.

    felton is ok..
i won’t waste my time with him
    i’ll just let T-doug learn..

I mentioned this to Tommy on his chat earlier and he is very sour on Rodriguez because of his to ratio but isn’t TD’s passing ability (or lackthereoff) more of a concern???? I think it is.

I like the kid but he is just not a PG and with his age you wonder how much more is ge going to learn???

When I see Sergio I see a lot of white chocolate (Jayson Williams-the white one). He is flashy, excellent court vision streaky shooter and the to’s will come down eventually just like J-Will’s did.

I don’t think S-Rod has “excellent court vision”, he didn’t to feed the hot hand down the stretch on certain occasions – and his defense is just pathetic.

  • bbrody1

isn’t jayson williams a free agent after this season

  • J_Starks3

Jayson Williams had a respectable career and won a ring.

Mucha – My definition of court vision is to find the a man on the open floor and to me Sergio is light years ahead of Douglas in that regard.

  • Mucha

Sergio is a better passer than TD but that’s not saying much.

I think he’s a good passer but I don’t think he has a high basketball IQ (no disrespect to S-Rod). He doesn’t feed the hot hand, he makes many boneheaded fastbreak plays (stupid turnovers, stupid shots) and he doesn’t play defense.

I think TD’s passing ability’s a concern too – but I think he’s a more talented basketball player and a more promising PG than S-Rod overall.

    i would take t-doug over s-rod anyday..

  • J_Starks3

    I have to respecfully dissagree.

“Sergio is a better passer than TD but that’s not saying much.”

Last I checked passing is the biggest responsibility of the PG.

    “he doesn’t play defense.”

TD is a better on the ball defender but Sergios hands are everywhere. That is why in the limited amount of time he is our leader in steals per.

“but I think he’s a more talented basketball player and a more promising PG than S-Rod overall.”

TD is not even a point guard. He wasn’t in college what makes you think that he can at the highest level of his profession????

TD’s J is way better than Sergio and that is where it ends.

    No shots.

  • Mucha

*You know steals do not equal defense. Sergio gambles too much (as much or even more than TD), he can’t keep his man in front of him and he turns the ball over too much – which creates many fastbreak opportunities. The fact that he doesn’t always try to recover is the icing on the cake.

I think Toney Douglas will be a scoring point guard. Chauncey Billups was not a pass-first point guard earlier in his career by the way.

Sergio has better passing skills than Toney Douglas but he can’t run the offense effectively. Toney Douglas can’t either, but at least he tries to play defense. And I’m not even a TD fan.
