Game Thread: The Last Hurrah

by Tommy Dee on April 14th, 2010 at 6:50 pm

So this is it. I’d like to open up the thread for the BEST moments of the season.

I’ll start. My favorite part of the season was December. My favorite game, in terms of good, quality basketball on both ends of the floor, was the win at home against Charlotte. Granted they were a bit short handed, but I thought the Knicks were really tight as a team and firing on all cylinders.

Obviously, Gallo against the Nuggets stands out and the dunk on the Celts and the one on Hibbert, Nate going off in Atlanta and the blowout win against the Suns. And you can’t forget David Lee‘s performance in Golden State.

I’ll post a poll, but you guys tell me the highlights of the season. It maybe a particular play or a win, but tell me what stands out to you.

  • oscar f

My favorite was the bock Gallo got against Ace Law to win the game . That was Lebronish.

  • BiggieSmalls

    the last Hurrah?

    How about the last sigh?

Favorite game was Nate’s 40 pt outburst against ATL after being exiled for a month… Mostly for the “coach” squirming in the post game conference.

  • Mucha

    1. Gallo and Melo’s mano-a-mano.

Because the Knicks actually beat one of the best teams in the NBA.

    2. McGrady’s come-back.

  • Mucha

By the way I think David Lee’s game in Philly (+ the game winner) > His triple-double Tommy.

I’ll always respect the fact that David Lee came back from his Grandfather’s funeral and led the team to victory.

  • x-man

+1 easy call on this one!

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

BIg- no shots, but i don’t understand your undying love for Nate and you’re 180 hate for Lee.

    TD

  • J_Starks3

+1 on the Gallo vs. Melo. The kid stepped up against a super-star, earning his respect and the knicks won. You can’t beat that.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

my favorite is all t-dougs good games an that nasty dunk by walker…

  • x-man

McGrady’s comeback? Come back to us Mucha! lol Maybe you should include T-Mac’s departure! It hasn’t happened yet but I know it will be a beauty already! Buy this stock early!

  • oscar f

David Lee moments will be more appreciated when we have replaced him with someone better and he is no longer a knick.

  • J_Starks3

    That one is easy.

Nate played with heart and there is completely loyal.

David was not sincere last year when he said he wanted to be here.

    Simple.

Sorry big if that is not your reasons.

  • HaS

“And you can’t forget David Lee’s performance in Golden State.”

Yea, but it won’t stop me from trying.

60+ point in the paint and _avi_ with ONE foul on the night, Spectacular stuff wasn’t it? I can’t wait until he’s gone.

    SMH

  • grahambo86

Gotta go with the Gallo vs Melo matchup.

  • x-man

I guess we’re gonna get that coaching survey once the season is over and most have moved on to another sport. It’s not like anther game is gonna change opinions!

The entire coaching staff should be sent away for good once the final secs tick off tonite.

  • LBJ2010

I was gonna say, I actually HAD forgotten about that game until Tommy mentioned it. Ya know, because we lost the game.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    that nate game i missed..

  • HaS

“BIg- no shots, but i don’t understand your undying love for Nate and you’re 180 hate for Lee.”

im sorry.. you asked.. the crap he pulled last year did it for me..

saying how he wanted to be here blah blah blah.. take a discount.. then ran around like a cheap hooker looking 4 a deal to bring donnie..

i think he is phoney beyond words…speaks in prepared sound bits..

i dont believe he does or says anything off the court that isnt totally calculated..

he’ll leave here for an extra ten dollars if he gets the chance.

he doesnt care about the knicks or tradition.. just being seen in Nobu with his model girlfriend.

look at his history.. rich kid ffrom st loo.. went to HS in Cali.. college in FL at one of the most famous tail schools around and then thinks he owns NY when he is nothing but a carpet bagging suck ass.

  • HaS

    Classic.

  • x-man

Yeah dude, N8 exposed Joe Johnson who is the guy some of stating we should get to make a difference here. N8 made him look like a shoeless joe!

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lol. X
    how bout those jets..

  • x-man

lol Yep, our Jets will be a force. My Mets is looking like another farce. Why can’t we win a pennant with 1 pitcher? Everytime I talk to my buddies about the Mets, I sound like a DVJ!

  • JustinCharles

The Gallo-Melo showdown is going to be remembered as the time he shut the skeptics up. Going shot for shot with one of the best offensive players in the league, while also asking to guard him and gaining post-game praise. That’s how you earn respect in this league, and it really proved that the kid is going to be a player. It just made me smile to see such improvements from Game 1.

After that, it’s tough. Lee had a bunch of huge games where I just couldn’t believe I was watching David Lee score at will. I’m sure this is going to get hate, but that game that Jeffries had like four charges, including one on the deciding possession, was just awesome. I was going nuts for Jared. Anyone remember which game that was?

  • oscar f

Nate is a bum on D like Lee and thats why he fell out of the rotation. On a good team he cant even get Eddie house type action . I used to like him when we first got im but like with Lee I can now see through the smoke an mirrors. Tommy is right Big.

  • Mal

Knicks vs Philly was the game David Lee missed and the team had a come from behind win and rebounded on the glass very well. Out rebounded Philly 50-37 and had 15 offensive boards to 8 for Philly. It seemed like a team effort game, Gallo had 25 and 7, Baby Al pulled down 13 boards, TD had 20, Bill Walker had 15, TMac had 7 boards and 3 assist. I was proud of them that game.

The Denver win also was one of my favorites with Gallo showing he had onions and went mano e mano wit my favorite player Carmello

The recent Boston win another favorite also Gallo once again displayed his onions not backing down from KG or Sheed

The sweeping of Atlanta another one of the better teams and the PAYBACK win in Dallas

  • x-man

Yeah but Melo doesn’t play real good defense! Denver was awful on that road trip when their real head coach was out.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    in his 2 year i have to give him a D- or a 4.
yest this entire coaching staff stinks..

  • oscar f

Gallo did gain some respect from around the league and from a top 10 player that night. That game will be remebered and more so than that meaningless triple double in a loss to the worst defensive team in the game.

  • x-man

Dude, Doc is breaking N8 down because no other coach did this. N8 doesn’t shot as much for the Celtics as he did here. N8 will emerge in the playoffs with more PT. However Doc has been clear on what he is trying to do with N8.

If N8 had had this type of leadership years ago, he would be better off. N8 is a huge trainee that has to learn how to play the game the right way. We know he can freestyle on his own but can he play under control in a team format to make his teammates better is the question.

Doc knows he can allow N8 to do his own thing anytime but that is not the plan now!

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i stopped following baseball for a while now but those jets
are already looking like the champs…

these knicks are not going to comeout this summer as good as the jets did…

  • HaS

“Nate is a bum on D like Lee and thats why he fell out of the rotation.”

Why didn’t _avi_ fall out of the rotation? Or Harrington? Or Duhon (before the season was over)?

Way to get players to tune you out “coach”.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

    ah, ok.

  • oscar f

If nate was a good player on D or even average like House he would be in the rotation. There are 2 big Lee haters on here(nothing wrong with that) that don’t like him because of his D but Nate gets a pass why? Stop sweating that dude cause he is not that nice.

  • x-man

Well, our Jets starting off by getting a excellent coach who’s known for his defensive mind. Ryan isn’t afraid to go after the opposing team and he trust his players. Hopefully our !back will only be better in his 2nd year. Yep, there’s a lot to be happy about with the direction of the jets.

Meanwhile we have captain dumba-s-s anchoring our Knicks!

  • HaS

The game Mr. Double Double Lee sat and the Knicks outrebounded the Sixers stands out for me. Awesome.

  • x-man

Yeah dude, Doc stated clearly on what he is trying to get out of N8. Doc stated that if he can get 1 extra win out of using N8, then the trade would have be worth it from the start. The Celtics are old and they will need N8 to get them past Orlando or Cleveland. N8 is being humbled and told why! Kudos for Doc because N8 needs to be told what is expected of him without the b.s.

  • HaS

Oh and the 20-2 run the other night for the win while _avi_ sat and clapped on the sidelines while the team scrapped and fought for the win on (FAN) “Fan Appreciation Night.”

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

if the knicks signed S.Livingston-i think he’s worth a look an training camp invite if som1 else doesn’t grab him up..
danni boy would play him 1-5 like diaw…

  • harris

Favorite moment of this season? Undoubtedly around 10:30 tonight.

  • HaS

Toney hit what basically ended up being the winning shot in that Gallinari “mano a mano” lovefest people seem to disregard or forget.

  • HaS

    Can’t argue with that one.

  • oscar f

You are right to an extint but unlike the knicks Boston has plenty of other player who can fill in. Lee at one point was the only supposed big man on the team.

  • BiggieSmalls

    J STARKS NAILED IT..

  • profitness

who the ****are you HaS.. Are you lifeless or just have a fixation for david lee. are you vindictive because you can’t do what he does or make the money he does. get a life sport. i guess you will be a lonely soul next year if he moves on. 20 points a game and at the top of rebounds and assists for centers…so sad you can’t appreciate a good player. five years of bustuing his ass on a team with losers and coaches who cant get it done.

  • profitness

haas – led the team in points while damphoney showed his colors at the end of the game.

  • Po

The game against Chicago when we shot 30 3s in the first half and lost the game by less than 10. I couldn’t take this coach seriously from that point on…..

  • oscar f

Dudes is having a knee jerk reaction to Livingston’s few good games on a bad team. He is ok at the right price but nothing to keep mentioning on this blog as a future piece. smh..

  • oscar f

I really hope the knicks beat Toronto because I want to enjoy a Cavs vs Bulls match up. The Raptors with bosh have chance against the Cavs so just imagine the ugly sweep without him. @ DVJ who said Rose is not a difference maker , I hope you watched the last few games and how he is willing his team to the playoffs.

  • LBJ2010

    Bingo.

  • CircleLimit4

Chandler’s Game winning block against Josh Smith and the Hawks.

  • fauci933

My favorite moment was the sweet month we had winning games when Nate was benched.

  • J_Starks3

    I’ve been paying attention.

  • CircleLimit4

    zing bada-boom!

  • oscar f

    somebody is mad. lol

  • HaS

    LOL

    Comedy.

  • fauci933

Haha you must not remember alot of our games then.

  • fauci933

Yea but we wouldn’t even have been in position to win that game if Gallo didn’t explode the way he did in that 3rd quarter.

  • Mucha

You just don’t watch the games lol

    Admit it

  • oscar f

I think David Lee is a good player but just not good enough to be on a team I root for . Im a young blood but Im old school like Red so I like a certain type of player and Lee doen’t fit that. To me Lee’s game would be better in the Euro-league. But he seems like a nice guy.

  • HaS

All made possible by _avi_’s excellent defense and boxing out of “J-Smooth” (Lee’s man) on the baseline.

I think that was the highlight of Lee’s defensive exploits on the season or maybe it was the time he sat in the lawn chair and watched Richard Hamilton (who I hate) glide toward the basket for a layup in a close game or maybe the Bayless layup in _avi_’s face. There’s too many, it’s impossible to decide.

I dedicate this ^ post to profitness

    8)

  • CircleLimit4

Biggie’s love of Nate seems to grow inversely proportionate to how much he hates the coach, haha.

  • fauci933

Yea really, I think Livingston is worth a look, but everyone is falling in love with this guy. Having a couple good games on bad teams make people fall in love with a player. Hell you only have to have one apparently. Everyone jumped on T-Mac’s sh*t when he had that one come back game, everyone jumped on S-Rod after his first like 2 or 3 games…same thing with Barron.

  • CircleLimit4

Don’t you mean “Mr. _ouble _ouble Lee?”

  • HaS

“You are right to an extint but unlike the knicks Boston has plenty of other player who can fill in.”

    Poor excuse.

Playing Lee sure got us into the playoffs didn’t it?

I would have rather we taken our lumps, scrap and fight like hell to compete than watch Lee’s definition of defense or Harrington’s, Duhon’s or Nate’s for that matter.

  • HaS

Toney’s shot deservs to AT LEAST be a footnot don’t ya think? LOL

  • HaS

    footnote*

  • HaS

    I stand corrected, Circle.

You’ve been on a roll lately! LOL

  • fauci933

Damn dude we all get it. I respect your issues with Lee, and I understand retaliating on that ridiculous post from that guy…but damn dude…I can’t wait until Lee is gone mostly because I won’t have to hear the constant bitching.

  • CircleLimit4

Yeah Lee botched that one, he just totally lost Smith on the backdoor. Which is extra infuriating because usually his awareness is one of the few (very few) somewhat satisfactory aspects of his defense. He’s usually aware of where his man is, that’s how he manages to get his steals, by sticking his hand in the passing lane. Unfortunately he’s also aware of when an opponent is charging the lane and gets out of the way.

  • HaS

Definitely worth a look, he did look a lot more explosive and quicker than he did a year ago.

He got injured as a kid so maybe he can bounce back. I’m still curious about Gerald Green, maybe he’s matured by now. Listen Donnie may have to beat the bushes bench/practice players if the cap doesn’t come in at 55+ for next year.

The Knicks aren’t (or certainly shouldn’t be) above bringing anyone into camp.

  • BiggieSmalls

imy post above regarding my favorite game was not really about Nate but more about the “coach’s” double standard when demanding things from his players and imposing selective sanctions..

Tommy asked a valid question and Starks stepped up and hit it out the park.

I hated how this “coach” demanded Nate play the PG and be a “Star” when he clearly is not meant for that role… Im not delusional in thinking that Nate is the second coming of Tiny Archibald.. He is what he is and the coach demanded he be something he is not.. and when he made mistakes he held him out of a whole month of games.. only to put him back on the court in desperation and have to eat his words
    The coach said
We can not Win with PLayers like Nate then turned around and said he needed Nate to be nate to win.

I do respect Nate’s loyalty and professionalism

  • HaS

“I can’t wait until Lee is gone mostly because I won’t have to hear the constant bitching.”

It hurts me more than it hurts you man, it hurts me more than you. Trust me.

“bitching” here is the only thing that keeps me sane being a Knicks fan. Don’t worry, if _avi_ is here next year I am officially going on strike as a Knicks fan. You won’t see my posts here anymore.

Maybe just one last rant after his initial re-signing.

    *vomits at the thought*

  • BiggieSmalls

    winner winner chicken dinner

  • HaS

Where are those darn Men In Black when you need them.

    Can they erase 10 years?

  • fauci933

Of course, and I loved it and I love Toney, but I also think you can’t just discount Gallo’s overall performance on both sides of the ball. He played hard and exploded in the 3rd to help the team to victory. I’m not saying it wasn’t the biggest shot of the game or anything, we just wouldn’t have been there without Gallo’s play.

  • Mucha

GTFOH with your fuck*ng 3-point shots Gallo.

    You’re not a fuck*ng ballerina.

  • fauci933

Agreed…we need as much cheap talent as we can possibly get.

  • Mucha

    Gallinari 1-57 from downtown.

  • BiggieSmalls

Incidentally Im not a 180 on the Lee/Nate hate/love meter..

If you remember I was all for trading Nate LAST trade dealine

  • fauci933

Haha alright man well for everyone’s sake then Lee should be sent packing.

Total hypothetical though, if Lee signs at like 8 mill and we sign LeBron plus a couple other players…still gonna go on strike?

    I can’t imagine so.

  • HaS

    Who’s discounting it?

    LOL

I’m just pointing out how no one ever ever EVER mentions Toney’s clutch “J” to basically seal the WIN!

  • HaS

I think LeBron may go on strike after 10 games if he has to watch Lee’s “defense”… or he’ll just cold cock him in the nose to get his attention.

  • LBJ2010

I don’t understand what he was doing that quarter. Shot selection is certainly an area to improve upon for him.

  • LBJ2010

Drives like that by Gallo make you wonder why he chucks up so many 3s.

  • oscar f

Unfortunately I will miss the game tonight but I have my laptop with me so could someone please keep me posted with up dates on the game occassionally. thanks.

  • Mucha

“Why do you shoot so many 3′s?”

    “Because there are no 4′s”

  • Mucha

I hate Gallinari when he takes so many 3 point shots. I HATE it.

  • HaS

    It’s the offense.

  • Mucha

LMAO Sergio and Barron looking like the legendary duo Chris Duhon and Jared Jeffries.

  • HaS

Why don’t you look for a stream?

You don’t want to compromise your moral values? lol jk

  • fauci933

Hey as a fan, gotta sit through the bad (in this case god awful) to get to the good sometimes. Ask anyone from Boston.

  • fauci933

That’s cool…to be honest that shot is the one thing I can actually play through in my head from that game. That and Gallo’s baseline dunk.

  • CircleLimit4

    i largely agree, except:

“He is what he is and the coach demanded he be something he is not.”

But the coach is supposed to demand Lee be a defender when he’s not? It’s the D’antoni double standard working backwards. There’s nothing wrong with D’antoni demanding Nate play under control and be smarter on defense. In fact that’s what Doc Rivers is currently demanding from Nate.

The coach did eventually wise up and said he just wants Nate to be Nate when he returned from exile.

    “The coach said
We can not Win with PLayers like Nate then turned around and said he needed Nate to be nate to win”

But the Knicks were winning without Nate.

  • fauci933

    I’d hope for the latter.

  • fauci933

Especially in the first half. Is it me or has Gallo gone off in the the third quarter in like each of his games this season?

  • fauci933

    “Each of his good games.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

What are you not seeing from TD from a passing standpoint. He sees the floor.

it can improve, but he has vision.

  • fauci933

    Haha…oh Antoine

  • CircleLimit4

No D’antoni is just waiting for someone to elbow Gallo in the chops.

  • HaS

I’m sure he has 20/20, but he doesn’t seem to be able to pass off the dribble, pass with either hand or not telegraph a pass. He’s very basic.\

Lindsey Hunter was a better passer.

Still love his energy and defense though.

  • Mucha

    Guess who’s having a career-night.

Tell me HaS. I need your opinion lol.

  • CircleLimit4

Toronto is probably the worst defense in the league, everyone on the Knicks should have career high’s

  • CircleLimit4

lol Just making sure your “D” key is well rested for the playoffs.

  • Mucha

lol I guess that’s what it is

  • Mucha

He’s a power forward and he plays for the Raptors…

  • BiggieSmalls

I dont agree with the premise that NBA players are (for the most part) poor defenders.

Are there some players that completely lack the lateral quickness necessary to stay in front of a player/? Of course. But at this level i think 9 out of ten players in the league CAN play defense if coached properly and held accountable. This “Coach” does neither.

I’ve SEEN Lee play defense in his first few years in the league. Ive SEEN Harrington play defense in his first season. Ive SEEN Crawford play decent defense when Larry Brown was here. Even Marbury has played good defense for stretches in his career. Lee’s current excuse that he routinely is outsized by 5 inches and 50 pounds (HIS WORDS!!!) is the most laughable comment Ive ever heard from an NBA player who is 6-9 and 250 pounds.

So to say that Lee and Nate are simply not capable of playing defense is wrong in my view and takes all responsibility away from the person who SHOULD be coaching defense and holding players accountable.

Part of the reason why the “Coach” now has his title in quotes.

The team won more than it lost without Nate in the line up in a small sample of December games. But would the team have won more games if Nate had been there? I can point to a number of games in december when they could have used his scoring off the bench and his depth. So the point is arguable. To say the team “won without Nate” implies that Nate was the reason for the losing which is completely without merit.

  • CircleLimit4

Lol, And Douglas looked like Hughes on that airball.

  • CircleLimit4

Haha I totally misread your post, my bad

  • Mucha

    Haha… you did…

  • CircleLimit4

    What a lousy game.

These 2nd half Knicks lean on the MSG crowd too much. They’ve played like wet narcoleptic noodles on the road.

  • http://theKnicksBlog.com Tommy Dee

I don’t see lindsey hunter as a better passer myself. And the kid is just starting out.

I think you need to look more closely.

He’s a drive and kick player.

I think he’s frozen lee out bc he doesn’t play D personally.

PGs, true floor generals, reward players. I see that in TD and have for weeks.

  • fauci933

Understood, but to say that Nate could’ve won us more games in that stretch is pure speculation. Granted it was a small sample size, but we played great during that stretch, and did beat some legitimate teams during it. Nate isn’t the most consistent player and can get ahead of himself on many occasions. Not saying he was “the reason” for losing, but the only sample, albeit a small one, speaks to that idea.

I also agree that everyone in this league CAN play defense, but often the ones with strong offensive capabilities, discount that part of the game because they don’t see it as important as their stat line. I am glad both players (hopefully) won’t be with the team next year.

This is also all said under the umbrella that I am not satisfied with D’Antoni’s lack of defensive…anything for that matter. I think it sucks that he doesn’t hold all his players accountable for their defense, but that being said, there are players on this team that play D no matter what, namely Gallo and TD…

To be honest, I’ve been writing this while watching Modern Family (in Maryland don’t get the Knicks game) and I totally forgot what I was writing, so I’m just gonna stop and we’ll see what happens lol.

  • fauci933

Makes sense actually. I’ma look for that more often now.

  • Qaspec

So HaS you’re dead set against David Lee but you want the Knicks to bring in Gerald Green? Really? There were what 33? 34? D League call ups?? and nobody called Gerald Green. He sucks and he’s terrible on defense. I inderstand he’s in Russia but thats only because 4 NBA teams already released or traded him. It’s not even like he’s had an injury.

If your gonna kill Lee about bad defense and then suggest we bring in a guy who only plays offense (and isn’t even that good at it) it just makes you seem inconsistent at best.

  • Mucha

Bill Walker commits so many stupid fouls it’s crazy.

  • Qaspec

When Lee moves on HaS will start in on Gallo.

  • Mucha

50 points in the paint lol.

Mike D’Antoni should’ve called timeout a couple minutes ago – this lineup is out of control. Do I need to mention the fact that these guys play no D?

  • Hydr0

lol man, i know it’s been a frustating season, but walker is having a pretty good night. I think walker’s contract to skill level ratio made the nate trade a success for us. He’s been a pleasant surprise to me.

  • Qaspec

The NBA isn’t old school anymore. The league has been moving closer and closer to international rules and styles every year. There are no bruising teams anymore and even halfcourt style teams run more than ever.

  • Mucha

    Yeah I like Bill.

  • Hydr0

    omg 105-94 after 3 quaters…3 quaters! lol

  • Qaspec

Well at least after this game the Knicks won’t give up 100 points for another 6-7 months.

  • Mucha

    LMAO Earl Barron.

    Brilliant.

  • Hydr0

what about the summer league? lol

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    just came in
the raps need this but if the bulls win it’s GONE FISHING for the raps…

  • Mucha

Sergio is terrible, I’m sorry – he was great down the stretch against Washington but he’s just a scrub.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

DVJ life is on the line tonite.
    lol..

  • CircleLimit4

Gallo is yapping at refs when he should be playing defense. Very Lee-esque

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

thats game now the raps gotta HOPE the bulls lose tonite..

  • bb_dot

what a sorry bunch. thank god the season is over

  • CircleLimit4

The worst part about the Knicks since the trade deadline is that we don’t even have players to give garbage minutes too. Most of the roster are garbage minute players.

  • bb_dot

    LOL. well said

  • bb_dot

Bulls winning in Charlotte… How bad has Toronto underperformed this season? Really not sure how valuable Bosh is after all. His team can’t even go to the playoffs.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    that is so correct

this guy s-rod is garbage no wonder he has been a bench player since he came into the league.

gallo has a long way to go an he won’t get there with this coach.
doug needs another coach also 2 maximize his skill set..

how bout weems setting a record for himself on the knicks
it’s always against the knicks lmao…

  • CircleLimit4

I feel like I’ve just finished ripping off a band-aid for 6 months.

  • Qaspec

Okay game over….So does Lebron sign now? How does this work?

  • bb_dot

we’re gonna take Bosh back on the plane to NY

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

donnie has already failed in every catergory exclude getting under the cap
an i’ll bet no superstar comes here this summer.

the knicks will have to settle for
    bosh
    joeJ
    gay
    an those type of players..
ive been saying this for a while now

just wait an see an i’ll be correct…

  • Qaspec

Already setting up Gallo for next year in case there’s no Lee to scapegoat?

  • DVJ

Are you guys ready to go shopping?

  • Hydr0

speaking of lebron, have the cavs even won a game since they sat lebron to rest for the playoffs?…they lost again tonight

  • DVJ

What’s wrong with Bosh, Joe Joe and Rudy Gay?

  • CircleLimit4

I know, Weems has replaced Jack as the resident Knick killer.

  • Hydr0

that’s what she said (clean version lol)

we’ll do some shopping, but the high priced items will be the one’s that have to pick us

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

after trading away all those picks z-bo craw etc
an getting those players thats a BIG failure.

the guys too old for this job don’t u see when he talks he doesn’t function good anymore…

  • fauci933

God you’re more concerned with being right than with the Knicks being a good team. Are you even a fan or do you just want this franchise to crumble so you can tell people “told ya so”

  • CircleLimit4

If we give Joe Johnson or Amar’e more than 14mil I’m going to take away Walsh’s credit card.

  • fauci933

That’s absurd, you’re just making yourself sound ridiculous when you talk about his age like that.

  • Hydr0

    he said superstars

  • Qaspec

I really like watching Douglas play. I hope he’s here for a long time. I think that despite not getting PT for most of the season he still ended up having a nice rookie campaign. Considering it usually takes point guards longer to develop I think it’s encouraging the kid already has a solid stroke and defensive intensity.

I think the floor general aspect of his game will improve with his playing time, confidence, and familiarity with the system. I absolutely feel like in a couple of years he will have drastically outplayed his draft position to an even greater extent than Lee did.

It’s just my opinion but it seems to me like he definitely wants to improve that “floor general” aspect more so than other point guards that are seen as scoring first.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i would love for the knicks to get a good team
but whats the point when u don’t have a good coach…

no1 in there rite mind comes here
    THATS THAREALEST TALK..

  • ds2488

    Embarrasing end to embarrassing season.

Can we get a poll going for who people are most excited to see playing in a different uniform next year from this current team?

My vote goes for Al Chucketts, but Lee earns an honorable mention.

Anyway, interesting that Sergio thinks he can come back and talks about ball movement as a reason why considering that for the last few weeks he has turned into Spanish Chucketts. He’s looked terrible for a long time now, no way he’s coming back.

Also interesting that Al Chucketts talks about a dream come true playing for the Knicks and how he wants to be back and just regrets not being part of the resurgence. Maybe we would have done better in that regard if he didn’t spend his whole time here stat-padding and looking for his next contract while playing no defense and not passing at all. What a joke.

  • DVJ

Imagine we give Joe Joe Dancer and Amare $14 million and then we give the rest to Camby.

Would that be enough to justify the deadline trade?

    Douglas
    Joe Joe
    Chandler
    Amare
    Camby
Should I replace Chandler with Gallo?

That doesn’t even include what we may get for Curry’s expiring.

    The options are endless……………

  • DVJ

    “Embarrasing end to embarrassing season.”

Don’t you mean embarrassing end to an embarrassing era?

  • CircleLimit4

Lebron, Wade, Kobe, Dirk, JJ, Amare, Gay Ginobili are possible (r)FA’s, I create cap space over riding out a mediocre crawford and zbo tandem every single time.

  • Qaspec

I hope thats plan “W” because I wouldn’t be geeked about that scenario. Amare hardly plays D and is injury prone. He also has a lot of miles on him since he did come out after high school. Joe Johnson is getting up in age and Camby is just a year or 2 short term solution at best.

  • Lebris Jamosh aka ridiculous upside

First off, taking shots at older people is not cool. Just immature.

Second, did they trade z-bo and craw off a 23 win team?!? Oh nooo!

  • ds2488

lol DVJ. I will say hopefully an embarrassing end to an embarrassing era. But I can’t say with certainty, unlike you apparently.

Whatever man. I can say I respect DW and despite a lot of mistakes being made the past 2 years I trust him to not screw us over like Isiah. But I can’t say things are looking too rosy with the increasing possibility of missing out on LBJ and Wade, and maybe even JJ too. Who knows, maybe Bosh goes to Miami and Amare resigns with PHX. Then we are royally screwed with no draft picks.

  • CircleLimit4

    Lets hope it’s over

    *knock it*

  • Qaspec

The Cavs seem to be doing fine without a good coach.

  • DVJ

    Plan W?

With all the bad play the last 10 years….you wouldn’t take that 50 win team above?

Damn homey….I think you should really lower your expectations.
If Lebron doesn’t come here we may have to put you in a straight jacket lol.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    THE RAPS GONE FISHIN

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lol…
i’ll take mike brown over danni boy..
    he’s def doing something rite
yes lebron is a big part of why he’s successful but he def doing something..

  • Qaspec

If Mike Brown was coaching the Knicks they would have accomplished what the Nets avoided this season. It’s funny watching Mike Brown coach because he walks around and talks like he’s this great coach but he still sounds like an idiot.

He reminds me of Art Shell for some reason. Not back in the day Art Shell, no, like Art Shell from a couple years ago. Mike Brown is just another crappy dude in a long line of crappy dudes that have made their accomplishments through Lebron. I sincerely hope James Dolan is the next crappy dude.

  • Qaspec

Amare and Joe Johnson and Camby don’t make a 50 win season….homey. I’ve never said anything about the plan being all Lebron. Matter of fact I was the first person trying to point out the Chris Paul possibility and other trades due to not having to abide by the 120% rule for trades over the cap.

Honestly I don’t agree with HaS on many things but he is correct that you do make baeseless assumptions and attempt to pass them off as fact. I’m sorry but there a plenty of scenarios better than the one you described above.

Try to be realistic for once…Camby is 36 and could get injured which is his history unfortunately, the same with Amare. Johnson’s prime is almost over. You may be fine with 1 possible, but unlikely 50 win season from that group but I’d like to see 10 years of probable 50 win seasons.

  • Qaspec

Plus DV J, I think it’s funny that you throw out things like Amare and JJ taking $14M to sign, as if you know thats an option. If a Max contract is worth $16M next year that is what they will get. If we lowball anyone they will sign somewhere else. There are many teams with a lot of space next year. Someone will offer those guys max. Miami will definitely off that to Amare if Wade wants them to and Atlanta will offer that to Johnson.

Also offering $14 mil compared to $16 mil as you suggest isn’t as simple or small as $2mil. Factoring 6 years and raises those guys would be leaving $12-16 mil on the table. Not realistic. Stop creating “options” that aren’t “options”.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    i doubt that.

danni boy is the most overrated coach in the nba
the knicks won’t build a better overall team than the suns team he had an couldn’t go to the finals
what makes people think he’s gonna go to the finals in nyc……………….

  • Qaspec

Plus how long has Mike Brown been coaching the Cavs? And the best offense they have installed is “Get the rebound and let Lebron dribble at the top of the key for 20 seconds”?

I would actually prefer Lebron in “SSOL vs “GITLOE” (Get it to Lebron or Else)

Imagine if Lebron actually had a real coach instead of a poser? Not even Pat Riley or Phil Jackson. Just a good coach like Jeff or Stan Van Gundy, George Karl, Jerry Sloan…even an Erik Spoelstra.

I can imagine the players coming out of a Mike Brown huddle looking at Lebron and saying “what do you really want us to do?”

  • Qaspec

I’m not saying anything about Dantoni’s ability or not as a coach. I’m pointing out how terrible Mike Brown is. If Whoopi Goldberg really coached the Knicks they would have a better record than if Mike Brown coached the Knicks.

I know some of you are obsessed with hating on Dantoni but he is not the worst coach in the league. I definitely think he’s better than Mike Brown. I’ve watched plenty of league pass and every game that Brown coaches I’m amazed at how little skill someone has to have in order to get an NBA gig.

  • fauci933

That sh*t isn’t “real talk”…whether you like it or not D’Antoni is for some reason well respected among the league. Just cuz he couldn’t get Lee and Harrington to play defense and doesn’t foul at the end of games, doesn’t mean everyone else hates him.

  • fauci933

Ginobili isn’t anymore, right? But whatever I totally agree.

  • fauci933

Why do people want Camby? He’s really old and oft-injured? I’d rather pay one FA the max, try to get Haywood and someone like Felton maybe, and trade Curry’s EC. That’s just my desire though.

  • fauci933

    Harrington x 1000

I respect the fact that he can score, but the black hole can be utilized elsewhere. His play robbed Gallo and Chandler of valuable possessions, and while I know the coach put him in there, he is still a veteran who acknowledged the fact that he doesn’t move the ball enough, then continues to jack up shots or drive and spin to the basket like a runaway train.

  • ds2488

lol. I agree. Dantoni may be bad, he might even be horrible. But he is not the worst in the league as long as Mike Brown is coaching. He’s comically bad. Whats worse is that the offense isn’t really get it to Lebron. Its get it to Lebron, plus have him in the easiest spot on the floor to double, and make sure the spacing is such that the remaining 3 defenders are able to cover all 4 of the pass outs Lebron would have. I think Mike Brown tries to make it as hard as possible on lebron. Its really crazy.

  • ds2488

I really feel like if Al wasn’t here all year, Gallo and Chandler would have both averaged at least 17-18 pts per game, and our team would be looking much more attractive to fa’s. I have never understood how this guy wasn’t benched.

Its not just that he’s the biggest black hole I have ever watched on offense, but he follows that up by being a terrible defender, jogging out on help rotations and jogging back on fast break d. The only time he exerts any effort is when he has the ball, and all that effort will go towards his scoring, regardless of if the other team doubles or triples him and someone is wide open. He is terrible.

  • fauci933

    Agreed.

  • bob go knicks

eat his own words? I think that in the long run …D’antoni wins this one

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

  • bob go knicks

    thats no championship team

  • Mal

I was all for Gerald Green getting a look also, I read months ago it wasnt his maturity but th fact he DEFENSE was considered the worst ion the league. That is what he needed to work on

  • Starks3ofPA

I agree 100% with u….Mike brown isn’t all that great of a coach lebron makes him look good how hard is it to feed the ball to lebron who then gets these stiffs open shots (that they missed against Orlando last year and they will do the same real soon)…..but why do so many hate on dantoni? Yea he doesn’t preach defense but the Guy is a genius when it comes to offense and he must be doing something right bc he has the respect of damn near all the great players in the league

  • HaS

The kid can learn to play defense, maybe not with this “coach”, but he is athletic quick and if I remember correctly he had a 6’10″ wingspan AT GUARD. If he has thick skin he could be a beast under a guy like Sloan, Skiles or maybe even Larry Brown. His maturity is the issue, not the tools he has (pause).

Like I said, I would have liked a LOOK at the kid I wasn’t ready to give him a guaranteed long term contract, a billboard on Broadway, a sneaker deal and his own show on MSG (btw I think it’s a joke that _’antoni, and his bookend 50 loss seasons, has his own show. I hope it gets cancelled, seriosly).

  • HaS

    *Eddie Murphy voice singing*

We gon’ kiiiill all de’ white peepull!

    LOL

Nah man there isn’t a a hateful bone in my body lol.

I keep telling people I actually used to love _avi_ and his potential, but last year’s “defensive” adjustment coupled with the prostitute service he took on the road looking for a contract, I lost all respect for him.

I like Gallinari and his potential. However, I do get a little rubbed the wrong way whe people get ahead of themselves about the kid’s ceiling. He needs a lot of work, but I think he can be a really effective player somewhere between Detlef Shrempf and Toni Kukoc and be an excellent 2nd or 3rd option on a winning team. I just don’t see “best at his positon”, “number 1 option” or “franchise player” in him personally.

  • HaS

“I think he’s frozen lee out bc he doesn’t play D personally.”

If this is true, he is my new favorite Knick… BY FAR.
