Walsh: Don’t Bring a Knife to a Gun Fight

By Tommy Dee on Apr 16, 2010, 9:38 am

Or something like that. And yeah, I know, it’s the “Chicago Way.” Work with me…

Via NY Post

“…The big elephant in the room — LeBron James — was not mentioned by name. But when asked if he worries about disappointing the fans if they don’t land the big fish, Walsh said, “What happens, are people going to come at me with guns or something if it doesn’t work. If you worry about that when you come to New York, you’ve come to the wrong place.’..’

Walsh accepts the criticism if he can’t land the big fish so to speak. If heard many fans say it’s too big of a risk because of a “chance.” Well, sometimes you have to go all in. Isiah Thomas did and it backfired. Walsh is hoping that his legacy is much difference. To me, Jordan Hill and picks or not, you HAVE to put yourself in the conversation.

The biggest thing to me is to make sure that the team doesn’t overspend on the other plans should that be the play.

lol. I thought it was interesting that DW brought up crazed fans showing up with guns kind of randomly. He’s the don anyway…no guns scare him.

Anyway, pumped for the playoffs and pumped for the summer. Lets Go Bulls!

Privately, the Knicks have asked for the email address for X-Man and Bob go and blackwood.

Anyone have ESPN Insider? There is an article about a potential summer CP3 sign and trade to the Knicks.

they site the Daily News and Post as sources in a possible David Lee sign and trade. But the hornets are broke and they’d have to take back okafor’s deal.

speculation, but a conversations should happen. Still think the nets have the most to offer.

Would the Nets offer though if they get Wall? Harris/Wall, Lopez, Lee and whatever FA they can sign (Joe Johnson on a max deal maybe or maybe Boozer)

Honestly though I think if we have to take back Okafor they can’t have both Gallo and Wilson. To lose our two best young pieces and take on those big contracts would be handcuffing ourselves again. I only do it if its Wilson / EC and scrap (Walker or future 2nds) for CP3 and Okafor.
I like the Idea though it fills our 2 biggest needs and we can find decent wings. Would the Grizz match 10 mill for Gay?

Korver or Mike Miller on 2-4 mill contracts?

@ Big Blue: Would you be opposed to D Lee for Yi? I dont know why but I like Yi, I like his size but he is injured alot.

@NoVaCaInE: Id be heated if the Nets get another great point guard. They had J Kidd and he took them to the Finals twice.

        Thanks.

I’d take back Okafor if I could land CP3, but I’m sure the conversation will start with Gallo and Chandler. I agree the Nets have a much better shot. They could throw their 1st round pick(possibly Evan Turner) in along with Devin Harris who has a decent contract @ roughly 8.9M over the next 3 years. I’m just trying to find something to be optimistic about which should be easy since we have the most cap space this summer.

Anyone think we have a chance at Jordan Crawford in the 2nd or would we have to move up in the 2nd or late 1st to land him. Or is he just a bit younger Bill Walker?

While Jordan Crawford certainly has talent, his already questionable shot selection would not mix too well with Dantoni’s system. Im not sure he would be a great fit for us.

That unlikely bonus stuff is pretty crazy. That’s definitely a very useful weapon to have.

Hey I found footage of Walsh doing research during last years draft, I really have a better understanding of what the approach was now!!

God dude we get it already. There should be a separate thread where HaS can harp on Lee’s defense and lack of heart and blackwood can discuss the 2009 Draft. This would cut down the comments section of the normal articles by at least like 20% haha.

Ummmm fauci933 I know you where late to the party but that was a fun filled counter punch to Tommy (read the thread) but yea I forgot you get mad every time you have to deal with a donnie monumental blunder lol. But just wanted to give you a little back ground on what was happening so that way you know what your chirping about.
