Source: Lebron’s Elbow “Way Worse…”

by Tommy Dee on May 5th, 2010 at 7:27 pm

Via RealGM:

“…According to a report on BallinEurope.com, the injury to LeBron James‘ right elbow is “way worse than is generally known” and the Cavs’ superstar should not be playing in his present condition.”A source close to the Cleveland Cavaliers who wished to remain anonymous has admitted that LeBron James should not [be] playing with his injury in its current state,” the report reads. “Apparently, the damage is enough that the right arm of King James … is having great difficulty in carrying anything heavier than a basketball.”

The report is from an affiliate of ESPN’s TrueHoop Network but cannot be independently verified…”

  • the oak

    The only logical question is…

How does this impact Free Agency?

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

his rain on top will come to an end if he needs surgery…
    …………………………real talk…

  • Gusurena

It makes me think what an extraordinary risk Lebron is taking by not signing an extension if his true intentions are to stay in Cleveland. That’s why I believe Lebron is likely to leave Cleveland. Why take the risk of a career ending injury if he’s going to stay put?

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

now the knicks can get him for cheaper if he needs surgery if he wants to leave clevland

  • grahambo86

How good can he be if he indeed does need surgery?

  • Hydr0

maybe we can waive the physical like we did with eddy curry lol, then we can sign and trade for him and give cleveland all our draft picks until 2020

  • Mucha

    Interesting.

I want to see a Lakers-Magic/Lakers-Celtics rematch anyways but I really hope that LeBron’s injury’s not too serious. It is not a lower-body/back injury though, I don’t think surgery will have a huge impact on his game.

  • Hydr0

let’s all keep this in mind guys…the story is based on a quote from an anonymous source and is from an AFFILLIATE of ESPN’s TrueHoop Network but CANNOT be independently verified

In other words, it’s probably bs

  • LBJ2010

    Precisely.

  • Mucha

    I’m waiting for confirmation too.

  • Starksfor3

I remember during Michael Jordan’s playing days, when news of him nursing injuries or feeling under the weather would occasionally surface. Then he’d go out and get 40 points.

  • Gusurena

    Alas, Lebron is not Jordan.

  • Rene

I would sign Lebron with his arm in a sling. He’s coming for sure,it’s a done deal and he knows it he can have New York City to himself and pick his sidekick max player, believe me Lebron is salivating about taking over the Big Apple. He would be bigger than Moses.LOL

Hey guys check out this article, some reporter is really sure that James will not come. to me this reporter makes no since. what do you think? http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-05-03/lebron-james-love-ruins-new-york-s-hoop-dream-scott-soshnick.html?utm_source=bleacherreport.c

  • NoVaCaInE

Not as big as that peace pipe ur smoking…

  • italian stallion

After reports about Jordan not being well he used to score between 40-50. lol

I suspect we are going to see a break out game for James in the next one.

  • fauci933

Haha I hope he’s right but ya, to say that for sure…you gotta be on something.

  • fauci933

Are these two comments for real?

  • HaS

“to me this reporter makes no since. what do you think?”

Not as far fetched as believing he’s definitely coming. The Knicks do need LeBron more than he needs them.

I think he makes a couple strong points and a couple strong assumptions.

There is definitely some “s(e)nse” to the article.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    as real as surgery.
no1 ever comes back to what they were after surgery i know it’s an arm but when your use to using your body without a problem it’s hard to get it back running like it use tooooooooooooooo…..

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

thats all a plan the nba is full of actors sometimes dudes play with real probs but the nba is like hollywood they luv giving the fans emotional shit.

mayb lebron is fine mayb not but if he needs surgery his rain as the best comes to an end until he gets back to his old self that’s IF he does..

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

looks like the suns going to the west finals…..
if the student makes it to the finals the should should target gentry next.LMAO..

  • vinrummy

with a summer of work with his left hand, I think he’d be fine since he’s a natural lefty.

We’ve seen this before where LeBron takes a couple of games to kind of survey the scene against the really good defensive teams in previous playoffs before he blows up later in the series (Detroit and Boston and to a much smaller extent vs. San Antonio). I think he’ll be fine.

  • DVJ

Don’t count out the Spurs just yet. The Suns only did what they were supposed to do. If the Spurs win both games at home then it’s a whole new series. It’s not a series until one of the teams win on the road.

  • LB2NYplz

id sign lebron james if he had one arm

  • fauci933

Agreed that it’s tough to come back from surgery, but I don’t think LeBron would be done, especially if it’s just the elbow injury. I don’t think his “reign” would be over at all.

  • fauci933

I don’t think I would…not for the max at least.

  • Anandp1001

some of u guys have got to be kidding.
lebron could have shredding his elbow up, needed tommy john surgery, and still get a max offer from every team possible. and he will be a top player in the NBA for years regardless of the severity, because clearly he is NOT in any serious harms way or anything since hes playing, and he clearly gets to the rim and has a power game that isnt going anywhere so long as he has his 2 legs.

  • bob go knicks

MAYBE ,we can kick Leb ron right in the back of his pants, and send hisdry powder, and his dancing back to cleve.and mmak lbj go back from wence he came

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

what i what by that is he probably would still be a very good player but not the player he was..
    let’s see how things gooo..

  • x-man

I agree that the Sppurs aren’t out of it yet but DaGawd’s words are too funny still. If Gentry get past those Spurs, our coach’s biggest supporters here will just say “D’Antoni didn’t have the players then” hahahahahahaha

  • x-man

Yep, but the Celtics held a special practice entitled “Hit that Elbow Man!”

  • k-hodge

My point exactly Gusurena – That’s a HELLUVA risk just to be courted. The way he and Wade play the game is risky without a contract. There’s no financial gain to him not signing the extension if he knows he’s not leaving. I think he’s gone, either way.

  • choggs

This article is stupid. He didn’t say he loves Cleveland. He loves Akron. And if he does love Cleveland, then why not sign now?

  • grahambo86

They are right though! If he only had Jared Dudley and Goran Dragic, he would have won his rings by now!! hahaha

  • LebronSignAfterTheX

This could work against the Knicks – in that if they lose, Lebron can blame it on his injury, and feel he didn’t give the Cavs and their supporting cast a real run at the ring, and come back to give it another go.

I’d prefer he lose while being 100 percent healthy, so at least he can say I gave it our best shot, this team isn’t going to win any time soon.

  • MrFurious

Is he a REAL doctor? Probably not. Additionally what’s the chances he has more detailed information than say…ANYONE.

  • MrFurious

wait….this isn’t REAL talk? How disappointing.

I’m trying to think here, has an elbow injury ever jeopardized an NBA career? Probably not.

  • bmathews77

I’m not believing this whole “elbow” thing just yet. NBA players tend to do this during playoff time where they make something big out of a injury that they can play through. How long have they been saying Kobe’s finger needs surgery and its affecting his shooting, etc…..Kobe looks fine to me so far in the playoffs. If Lebron plays the way he did in game 2 in game 3 then I’ll believe it. By the way, game 2 of that series clearly shows that without Lebron playing the way he does that team’s supporting cast is over-rated. They wouldn’t have made the playoffs without Lebron.
Anyway, hope the Cavs lose and Lebron decides to leave for the Knicks in the summer! =)

  • grahambo86

Cleveland is preparing their excuse for when they get knocked out. Oh, well, ya know, Lebron had a boo boo on his elbow and THAT was the ONLY reason we lost and didn’t win the title even though this is Lebrons 7th season.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

knowledge you cannot be serious….lol….lebron will be done if he needs surgery???cmon son…
“Wade Goes Under Knife To Repair Shoulder & Knee”- ummmm last i checked he came back and was an MVP candidate and had his best season of his career, following these 2 surgeries…..

ONLY SURGERY YOU CANNOT COME BACK FROM IS MICROFRACTURE SURGERY….AND NOW AMARE IS SHOWING YOU CAN EVEN COME BACK FROM THAT….

sooo be easy, Lebron will be fine, you guys are acting like he’s a pitcher and has to get tommy john surgery…lol…

  • JohnnyG

Spot on. I was about to write the exact same thing.

  • knicks613

    —side note—-
    —td take note—
hoopsworld has a story that nate will not receive his $1mm playoff bonus.
apparently, his late season benching meant he didn’t play in enough games! man its rough out there.

  • HaS

Stupid is a bit of an exaggeration, but he does make some pretty strong assumptions like I said. In the end it’s his opinion and his interpretation of what LeBron has said or done.

Some of it does make “sense” some of it is a stretch, I still think it makes more sense for him to stay than it does for him to join a rebuilding effort.

The article is no more “stupid” than interpreting any/everything as a sign that he’s jumping ship for the Knicks while he’s in the middle of the playoffs while his teams has the best record in the league and home court advantage throughout.

  • Jack D

If Clevland loses this series, do you think Lebron will put blame on his teammates for not picking up the slack, thus bolting for NY? Just a thought…

  • bb_dot

i thought exactly the same thing. whenever I hear “anonymous source close to the team” I think of how the White House leaks information to further a hidden agenda. they’re covering their a$$es..

  • bob go knicks

In the words of Nates mother “EFF NATE”

  • thebossandbenji76

I agree, if they lose to bos or orl and his elbow was hurt and his teammates did not pick up the slack, will be bolt to NY? Also, this guy that calls up the knicks radio show and says the knicks need to sign james and re-sign David Lee, he needs to get a clue, if Lebron is here, then so is another big player, he’s not coming here by himself and playing with this supporting cast by himself, if Lebron is here, then David Lee will not be.

  • bmathews77

If they don’t pickup the slack its absolutely the Cav’s supporting cast fault and should make Lebron want to leave. Lebron is doing everything for them out there even hurt he put up good numbers. Lebron is stuck with the same supporting cast for another 2 years (minus Shaq and some others) but he’s stuck with Vareajo, Mo “inconsistent” Williams, Antwan “too slow” Jamison, etc… At least if Lebron goes to the Knicks he can have a fairly young roster with proper cap balance to be in a position to win multiple championships.

  • lobster

If the Cavs lose in the 2nd round it is a wrap. Lebron is coming.

This guy is a star, he wants to play in the city he loves. If for none else then to attend as many Yankee baseball games as possible.

For now we need to take a Utah Jazz approach to the Draft. They have about 10 players on their roster who were drafted in the 2nd round.

That and Deron Williams gets them into the second round of the playoffs. No reason why we cant do that next year if LJ comes by himself to the knicks.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

amare still isn’t the player he was..
