Talking D-Wade

by Tommy Dee on May 5th, 2010 at 11:23 am

Good post here by our friend Dave from NYSportsSpace who analyzes why he’s not keen on the Knicks signing D-Wade.

“…1) A future with persistent injury problems - This is the most frightening and disconcerting reason. I love the way that Wade plays the game. He dives after loose balls as much as anyone, isn’t afraid of drawing contact, and is generally balls deep in every possession, The question lies, though: Can he sustain this style of play for the next 3, 5, or 7 years? No matter how good a guy keeps himself in shape, once you hit the 27-28 year old threshold you cannot play like Dwyane does without frequently getting injured. It’s impossible. He has a history of injuries too, only playing 50 games in the ’07 and ’08 seasons due to shoulder and knee issues. Would you make an investment in a car used in a demolition derby? What if this car was able to dunk on Yao Ming? What if you bought a T-Mobile Sidekick as a result of these high flying antics?…more.”

We know Wade to NY isn’t happening. At least, it doesn’t appear to be in the plans, and I agree that the back end of Wade’s next contract could present times where injuries could creep up. It’s hard to question how good Wade is right now. Wade and a big man in NY would certainly make the Knicks a top 4 seed and compete with the league’s elite, but the chances of that ever happening seem very slight.

  • BigTyme

If u thought Knucklehead Al and T-Minus were ball-stoppers……No thanks on Wade….

  • Myles A. Mills

said this a while back, wades not the safest bet for a long term option

  • onemoretime

The more i think about it the more i’m starting to feel that the Knicks would be better off using their cap space for young up and coming guys they may be able to trade for and the occasional veterans like Gay, Collison, Okafor, Bierdrans, Monte Ellis ect. to team with the young talent they have already instead of hitching their wagons to overpriced or risky(healthwise) players like Wade, J Johnson, Bosh et al.

  • x-man

You guys are bugging! Wade might hurt in his style of play but he’s a dude that can make it happen in key moments of the game and that is where we major issues.

Everyone used to say we have no go to guys and now some of ya would pass up on one of the best go to guys? Yikes!

Long-term? The only thing I know about long-term is our Knicks have been a total mess for years.

  • x-man

Yeah but we have a coach that can’t develop young guys and there are those there will be crying that our coach still doesn’t have the players and he will be allowed to do another 2 years of nothing!

No need to have more up and coming planted on the bench for veterans who can’t get us anywhere. We had 2 years to put your plan in motion and 2010 is about UP and HERE already! lol

  • oscar f

If Wade was a knick everyone up here would be hyped so don’t act like he is a bum by saying he is a ball stopper like Al and T-mac. I do however agree that the knicks should spend that money on young players who will be good for a long time . I like Wade, Boozer,JJ, and Amare but LBJ,Bosh and Gay would make much more sense in building for the future. Any combination of the 2 added with Gallo would allow a strong, young, talented nucleus for the future. I think the knicks should sell the being good over a long period of time to lure FA’s. LBJ should be setting himself up to be part of a situation where there is a core to be good for the next 10 years rather than the next 3.

  • oscar f

BTW I still would be happy if the knicks got Wade.

  • x-man

I hear ya but 10 years? That’s what the drafts were for! Bosh is that good NOW! So in 10 years he will be Shawn Kemp – the golden years. I agrre with ya about Amare and Boozer though.

We need CP3 and we should take a Wade if it’s doable. After all, he did win a ring carrying the Heat in the playoffs.

  • x-man

    Then ignore my post! lol

  • x-man

    * That’s Bosh ISN’T that good NOW!*

  • thebossandbenji76

Well guys, in reading this article, it sounds like with the new ownership situation in New Orleans, it sounds like Chris Paul will not be dealt, i guess Collison could be traded, so if u guys want Okafor and Collison, that could be what is done but who the hell knows, i think best course of action is hope the celtics or Magic take the Cavs out, hope, Lebron gets mad enough about it to come here and hope he can take Bosh with him, then do a Collison/Okafor trade in exchange for Chandler and Curry’s expiring- take a look:

    http://www.neworleans.com/sports/sports-blogs/ken-trahan/386399-hornets-head-coaching-search-intensifies.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

i guess douglas could be the PG also and could be more of a scoring G with Lebron handling the ball, i guess Curry could also go to either Golden state for Biedrinis or Philly for Dalambert as well. I know people will disagree but I would trade Gallo for RFA Rudy Gay in a sign and trade, please give me 5 guys that can play the Dantoni’s system and can defend please. In saying that….if there is no Lebron for Knicks…..I would rather have Ray Allen for 10 mil then Joe Johnson for max

  • Dylan

Beggers can’t be choosers! Yes, we would all rather get LeBron anyone who doesn’t want Wade is out of their mind. He would be one of the best players to ever put on a Knicks uniform. He is a definite top 5 player in the league, and maybe even top 3. He is one of the few elite players. Yes he is 28, but he still had 5 great years left. Wade is easily the 2nd best free agent available.

  • Dylan

Wow sorry about all of the typos.

  • x-man

    + 1!

  • oscar f

That CP3 stuff is old news. As far a the PG problem I recommend the knicks check out Devin Harris who was an all-star pg just a few seasons back. He started to play well toward this seasons end. A sign and trade with Lee packaged with Eddy Curry and Chandler for Harris and Yi would make sense if the Nets land Wall. @ X-Man If the knicks had LBJ,Bosh and Gallo you do understand that 10 years from now thier average age will be younger than Jamison is now. You know Jamison the supposed sidekick for LBJ. They will be a little over 30(34-35) with unbelievable chemistry like the big 3 in Boston. If that core stuck together just imagine how many rings they would have won by then and still be in position to win more. This is why I say the knicks should sell the whole winning over a longer period of time because Cleveland can’t offer LBJ that .

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i got a real good idea
why don’t the knicks buy or trade for 2 of the top 5 picks or buy all the picks that teams want to sell or trade now that mos def make a better future for the knicks an they will also have there own homegrown talent…

  • Namifi

Absolutely! Many of our core players are up and coming, we need tested players. Its time to revive the NYK. No Knicks fan wants to sit through three to four more years of this garbage, the only thing good that could come from that is D’angphoni will be fired.

  • x-man

I hear ya and I would take a LBJ and Bosh providing we had LBJ first and foremost. I would take a LBJ and CP3 much better.

In all honestly, I’m not worried about 10 years because that’s a lifetime and too many things can occur. Devin harris is good but he’s too inconsistent.

The best young core out there now is the Thunder and we are a long way from that. They drafted great and got a little lucky too.

Besides, If Gallo’s back last 4 years, that would be a win-win! lol

Buy hey, maybe its me because I recall as a Met fan where we had all the supposedly promising young pitchers in the minors that we never traded and etc. They were BUSTS! lol

  • BASEline LANEdrive

i was gonna say the same thing.. ppl forgot that Wade DID lead the heat to a chip. He’s easily the 2nd best free agent on the market and a legitimate top 5 NBA star.

  • x-man

lol What do we do with our coach? He can’t make homegrown meals!

  • fauci933

God dude give it up already, no one is even talking about D’Antoni… can’t you stay on topic.

  • x-man

WOW! With that last sentence, you’re my favorite poster…….after me of course…..lol

  • x-man

Aaaah man, there you go again trying to be the topic Whore! lol

We’re Knick fan and when it comes to making this team better, there is no topic more important than that!

I can se you were that little kid that got beat up in school for telling on the other kids or being the hall monitor. You better not tell on be Fauci,…meet ya outside! lol

  • x-man

    *me*

  • fauci933

    “He can’t make homegrown meals!”

    Huh?

Lee and Nate were homegrown talent…homegrown talent doesn’t always result in good things.

  • x-man

Yeah but how does that refute that our coach can’t make homegrown meals so to say?

So now you’re saying that the meal was bad to begin with?

Seems like the meal never sticks to the pan so this must be a teflon coach!

  • oscar f

What is the fuss with Gallo’s back ? How many games did he miss besause of his back. The dude is fine. For the future this lineup would be nice if Bosh mans up:
PG Devin Harris ( he is consistent when healthy)
    SG LBJ
    SF Gallo
PF Yi ( he is a litte soft but so is Lee, and he hasa soft jumper)
C Bosh (at 6’10” 260lbs I think he can hold his own and will get stronger)
    or
    PG Devin Harris
    SG LBJ
    SF Gallo
    PF Bosh
    C Pittman
This team could beat Orlando with the right bench

  • thebossandbenji76

I just don’t see Dirk opting out and leaving 21 mil on the table, if we was to do so i think it would be for Miami. My question is, if Lebron stays, Wade stays, Bosh does a sign and trade with the Rockets, Joe Johnson goes to Chicago, Amare stays, Dirk stays, Nets get John wall and trade Devin Harris for RFA Rudy gay. David Lee signs with Nets or Thunder, Boozer goes to Miami with Wade….then what do we do??

  • vinrummy

Wade would be a mistake to become the face of the franchise. If you could guarantee he’d play 75-80 games a year for the at least 4 seasons out of a 5-year deal, then I’d be fine with it. I just can’t see it happening. And if he did manage to play that many games, it’d probably mean he was playing with less tenacity–what’s the point of getting Wade if he’s not playing with that hellbent agression.

And the thing about Wade and having a championship is that doesn’t it feel like it was an eternity ago? Only four years, but it seems liek a lot longer ago than that to me. And they were a bit of an asterisk championship team, because the Heat really weren’t that good and then refs let Wade do whatever he wanted in the Finals (although he was ridiculously good throughout that entire postseason). But Wade, despite easily being one of the top 5 players (and on many occasions playing like the #1 player) in the NBA has accomplished any real team success since after 2006. I guess the Heat front office hasn’t done him any favors by not surrounding with good enough players–but that excuse only gets you so far as far as I’m concerned. I’m pretty sure that if LBJ was playing with Michael Beasley & Jermaine (instead of Hickson & Shaq) he’d make those guys look better than they really are and find a way to win with them.

But yeah we’re talking about a guy who has almost no chance of leaving Miami.

  • DVJ

Since Lebron is about to get eliminated from the playoffs…all the free agency talk needs to be put on hold.

He is the one that’s going to set everything in motion.

  • bmathews77

I’m looking forward to seeing the Cav’s getting eliminated by the Celtics. Lebron’s supporting cast is so over-rated. Maybe losing again in the playoffs will help Lebron decide to leave for NY. Go Celtics (Only saying it so we get Lebron)

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    It’s about to go down.

  • Anandp1001

    +1

if/when the cavs lose to the celtics, im feeling almost positive he leaves cleveland.

if not, then if/when the cavs lose to the magic, im still feeling pretty sure hes a goner.

if they get to the finals (win or lose) i think LBJ will feel good enough about his supporting cast; less than likely he leaves, and if he wins a ‘ship then theres really no way to leave IMO

  • Starksfor3

I agree with that post about the Thunder. They have a young, talented nucleus that’s only scratching the surface of their potential. In another season or two, Kevin Durant will own the league.

  • DVJ

I agree OKC is going to be incredible but as long as Lebron is in the league…Durant will never own the league.

Lebron is going to be the best player in the league for the next 5 years easy.

  • fauci933

Haha you continue to amuse me and make yourself look less credible each and every post.

  • fauci933

I don’t know what this homegrown meals thing is you’re talking about.

All I’m saying is that draftees don’t always turn out the way we want. Case in point: Lee and Nate. Both good offensive players and significantly below average defensive players that were “homegrown” so to speak, and never ended up satisfying us fans.

  • BASEline LANEdrive

Don’t be so sure. Durant is a natural scorer and more talented shooter. We’ve all seen Lebron dominate like a man amongst children due to his physical abilities. Even if they slip slightly, we’ll start to see a guy like Durant catch up…

Bron Bron seems to have more of that basketball IQ thing every1 is talking about but I feel Durant has the ability and time on his side to maybe take the edge over Bron when Bron is over thirty and Durant is still in his mid 20′s.

  • fauci933

How does that excuse only go so far? One player can’t consistently carry his entire team when the players surrounding him are god awful. Wade got his team to a fifth seed in the East based solely on his play alone. His team quit on him and played poorly in the playoffs, but they would be below the Knicks without Wade on that team. The Cavs without LeBron, while old, would still be able to fight for an 8 seed potentially. The Heat would be chillin with the Nets without D-Wade.

  • fauci933

Let’s hold on a second…I’m rooting HARD for the Celtics, but if the Cavs take one in Boston, this series is right back on track. If the Celtics took both games at the Cavs then I’d get truly excited, but let’s not go predicting anything ridiculous.

  • YO SON

John Ireland asked this question today if your the Knicks would you trade lee and Gallo for Bynum………..

  • jay from the fix

Trades at that point off curry for iggy and dalembert buy picks ?

  • http://twitter.com/rmzz/status/13441835560 @rmzz

    @TommyDeeTKB i.e. Blog Post: Talking D-Wade http://bit.ly/bhTjTW

  • BASEline LANEdrive

does that even match up money wise?

hmm… it’s tough cause bynum gives you the size you want at center, but I actually believe in Gallo (I think we haven’t seen close to his best) and Lee’s productivity is fairly high (even tho he is a defensive liability).. i’d have to try to get a lil more outta the deal.

  • fauci933

Durant is purely a scorer though, whereas LeBron has one of the most well-rounded offensive games you’ll ever see and is a great defender. I love Durant and he will improve his game and probably become top-2 with LeBron, but I think LeBron has the best player title sealed up for a while.

  • blackwood

Hell yes!!! I would buy the plane ticket myself!!

  • blackwood

Franchise Center!! That is all u need to know in the east where the most dominant player is a beast of a center in Orlando!!

  • blackwood

If it where a sign and trade Lee plus Gallo the money would match, if Lee signs for 10 mil Gallo is 3 mill while Bynum is 13 mil and change. The Lakers will never do it!! lol but it would be fantastic to wake up and read it happened lol.

  • YO SON

Ireland was saying Lakers need to get younger and Bynum is enegry prone and may not be a good idea to build around him. So if you are to make that trade sticking to the post you sign Wade and Bosh…..and all of a sudden you have theeeeee lakers of the East The KNICKS………..

    C. Bynum = Bynum
    PF. Bosh = Gasol
SF. Ill Will(My dude) = Artest……much younger LOT of upside
    SG. Wade = Bryant
PG. Douglas = Fisher (younger version literally)

Draft Stephson and maybe Pittman and you still have Eddy Curry contract to play with……………I did it…AHAHAHHAHAHA (Championship)

  • PipeDreamin

i LOVE Gallo. And he has unlimited potential. But guys like Bynum don’t come around too often. You could probably count the number of total package centers on one hand, and barring further injuries, Bynum is one of them…

    Howard
    Bynum
    Oden[if he can stay healthy]
… thats all i can think of.

And by total package centers i mean LEGIT, beast 7 footers that block shots/change shots, and have a healthy offensive repertoire.

NO hybrid centers. I’m talking real deal, old school BIG MEN.

you can probably put Bogut/Lopez/Perkins/Noah in a second tier.

  • blackwood

“Azubuike opts in: Kelenna Azubuike exercised his option to stay with the Warriors for about $3.3 million in 2010-11, in what became a formality after his 2009-10 season was ended by a torn left patellar tendon. Azubuike, 26, averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in nine games.”

Sign & Trade time!! Sign & Trade time!!!

Lee for Azubuike & Wright!!! Get on your job Mr.Magoo!! 3 million for a guy who shoots over 40% from 3pt plays hard nose defense and gives you 14pts & 5 rebs!!!

  • BASEline LANEdrive

you must love Bynum. I wouldn’t say he’s better than Bogut or Lopez at all.. I put him and Noah in about the same range with Kendrick “All Frowns” Perkins a couple tiers lower.

Oden’s a bum. Had portland picked Durant like I said they should have, they’d have a ring already (if not soon). Roy, Durant, Aldridge would be such a dope young core.

  • blackwood

great defender?? I dont know about all that he blocks shots and plays passing lanes but thats not the same as being a great man defensive guy! I do know Durant gave Kobe made trouble when he put the man defense on him and how many people can say that? Not even LBJ cause Kobe I seen Kobe hit game winners over LBJ. There both great but Yea I dont see how LBJ has one of the most well-rounded offensive games in the sense that what he can do that Durant cant? Durant shoots much better has crazy handle quick first step will take it to the hole. LBJ is stronger by far but he never really posts anyone up. So I am not knocking LBJ but I said the same thing a few weeks ago “Durant coming for that throne!”

  • x-man

LOL. I’ll take my chances looking less credible to those like you who think this coach is doing a good job but he just doesn’t have the players.

How credible do you sound thinking that unless we get a whole bunch of star players, a coach doesn’t have any responsibility. EVERY coach is looking for these so called star players.

You folks kill me! lol On one hand it’s not about the coach, it’s all about the players. so if that’s the case, the coach really don’t matter!….and since we don’t have the players then we really don’t need this coach!

We’re paying a coach many millions per year just to …………………………………have other like our complain to not blame the coach! hahahahahahahahahaha

  • ds2488

I would not make that trade. Bynum is owed so much money for a guy that is constantly hurt and can’t be counted on to play 82 games. But I do like him and think he has amazing potential.

  • x-man

That why your GM has to make the correct choices. That’s where there’s consequences for making bad choices. Otherwise, anyone can be a GM and make bad choices and just say “Oh Well, you win some , you lose alot!”

Also, Draftees will never turn out the way we want if you don’t give them PT or demand that they play defense with effort each night. It’s not like we’re going anywhere now as a team so why not do this?

  • BASEline LANEdrive

i agree. and to think ppl didn’t want Wade cause he’s injury prone… how could we mess with Bynum?

Plus I dunno… I think the kid Gallo has talent, heart, and bball iq to be an allstar someday (at least arguably…) I only see Bynum in the allstar game cause centers are a dying breed and slightly more prevalent in the east (dhoward, bogut, lopez, shaq [i guess]…)

  • x-man

I hear ya but it really doesn’t matter which one is considered better individually because if Westbrook develops a dependable outside game, there will be a major Thunder storm throughout the league. If they get a Legit Center, it’s over for us and the league!….just saying!

  • BASEline LANEdrive

I don’t see how that would work. Wright prolly barely makes anything.. and if Azubuike makes 3.3M, how much would we sign Lee for? Plus, does Golden State even want Lee? Might be able to work if they wanted to get rid of Monta Ellis’ long contract (11 mill per through 2013/14).. but would WE want that contract?

We could do Monta’s 11 + Azubuike’s 3.3 and they take lee for whatever they wanna pay him.. (maybe 10-12).. should be able to work since we’re under the cap.

  • x-man

Hey Fauci, Can you list the players we will need to get before D’Antoni is expected to perform ANY coaching duties?

I just want to know what some of ya think is reasonable the “EARNING many million per year clause to kick in!” It seems for the last 2 years, only the “STEALING many millions per year clause is activated…….just saying! Don’t kill the messenger ok? lol

  • bartnyk

add Gallinari if they get the #2 pick and take dalembert for EC and we have a deal Evan Turner would look good in blue and orange.

  • Big Blue St3

If Curry is still on that team that cap# is over 60 mill which is easily over the cap. You’d have to dump Curry before one of the signings or trade for a lesser contract….good luck with that.

  • fauci933

I’ve never said any of the things you just claimed I did…ever. It’s cool though, keep ranting, it’s still funny.

  • Big Blue St3

Come on Celt’s with your stupid shamrocks!!!!

    Collison
    LBJ
    Gallo
    Bosh
    Okafor

With TD, Walker, Barron and Giddens on the bench and any vet willing to take the min to round out the bench.

That team would create so many matchup issues would be eerily similar to the Celts team now just a much younger version.

    Collison-Potential Rondo in the making
    LBJ- Upgraded Pierce
Gallo- Could be the current slow version of Ray Allen in a Forwards body
Bosh- Less nasty / less defensive minded but fiery power forward who can go off on any given night
Okafor-gritty defensive minded center who can give you a few put backs here and there a la Perkins.

  • TobyKnight

I was hoping we could get Azubuike for the 2. He would thrive in SSOL.

Would GS even consider trading Azubuike and Biedrins for Lee?
Not sure that would happen. Might depend on who they get in the draft.

    Eliis would likely be available.

    Ellis/TD
    Azibuike/Chandler
    Gay
    Gallo
    Bosh

This lineup could thrive in SSOL, but could need a stronger center
    Maybe:

    Collision/TD
    Ellis/Asibuike
    Chandler/Gallo/Walker
    Bosh/Gallo
    Okafor/Barron

That lineup would match up well with the Magic

  • joetheknick

The knicks need a center and a point guard. Okafur, Collison, Biedrins, Ridnour would be upgrades. After the Knicks need a Lebron or a Dwyane because it takes a superstar to win in the Nba. Trading for Iggy or Monta Ellis or some other high priced player just won’t be enough. If not Lebron or Dwayne wait for Melo.

  • TobyKnight

What would it take to get Yi from the Nets?
Might be a good guy in the rotation, as he could create some advantageous matchups.

  • fauci933

Lee and Nate were both given more than adequate playing time. Nate never played defense. Lee sacrificed his defense (which he did used to play) to put up bigger offensive numbers so he could land himself a bigger payday. I’m not advocating that, but that’s what happened over the last two years.

Douglas has gotten playing time. He’s gotten the chance to start and to come off the bench to play next to someone who plays more like a pure PG, in order to evaluate where he fits in best. Even when he didn’t start he still got significant minutes. Hill was mishandled and a mistake overall from the beginning.

  • fauci933

I’m not talking about D’Antoni at all in my previous comment but it’s fine go ahead and ask me to back up a statement I have never made.

I also don’t understand a word of that second paragraph…if you want to ask me a question, make sure it reads coherently first.

  • fauci933

Durant has a well rounded offensive game as well, but he isn’t the ball distributor or the rebounder James is. LeBron is also a very good defender, even aside from the blocks. He plays hard and good. Getting in the passing lanes and blocking shots on gimme fast breaks for the other team helps a lot as well.

As far as Kobe goes, he can hit game winners over anybody even when they play perfect defense…Kobe’s a straight up assassin in the 4th quarter. I do think Durant will challenge for best player in the league, I’m just not going to take anything away from LeBron, who right now is the best player in the league.

  • joetheknick

Yi has probably worn out his welcome in Jersey. He is big and skilled. All potential at this point. Would you give up another rookie contract like Chandler to get him???

  • ds2488

    lol. Definitely not Shaq anymore.

There’s some good centers in the East, you could add Noah to that list.

No offense to guys like Bynum, but for me Gallo is relatively untradeable unless a real all-star like Chris Paul is made available. Good players on their rookie contracts with amazing potential like Gallo are among the most valuable contracts in the league to have, especially for rebuilding teams. I would trade Gallo for some players, but definitely I don’t count Bynum among them.

  • ds2488

No way. I would never give up Chandler for Yi. Yi’s career so far has been one giant disappointment. Chandler is in a different league than him.

  • blackwood

Oh trust me I am in no way taking anything away from LBJ I am just saying he does not play man defense as much as playing passing lanes and shot blocking, while Durant played man defense str8 up against Kobe in the playoffs where Kobe shines and had a major impact on him.

LBJ will rarely defend the best player on the other team unless there a SF. Thats not a knock as much as an observation. As far as scoring go’s no way I can say LBJ is better then Durant but he is much more powerful! LBJ has a huge edge in the ball distribution for sure.

But in the end Durant and Westbrook will be this generations MJ & Pippen if all keeps going as it is. There set to pick a good enough big man in the draft that will give them the size and balance they need to be damn near unstoppable. The scary part is Durant & Westbrook are still far from as good as there going to become!!

  • the oak

Wade is not leaving Miami. No Chance

  • blackwood

Well if Lee is signed for between 10 & 12 which is what he will be looking for we can trade him for Azubuike, Wright & ether Turiaf or Radmanovic (who expires in 2011) so the numbers would be close enough.

Lee is made for the other Donnie’s system, scoring athletic big rebounding PF who does not play much defense and runs the floor very well. For 3 bench players he really does not use or who he does not have the mins for because of to much depth at positions.

bynum isn’t better but mayb he could be in the future

  • HaS

    “Lee sacrificed his defense…”

    LMFAO

  • HaS

“Since Lebron is about to get eliminated from the playoffs…”

    The series is tied.

“…but let’s not go predicting anything ridiculous.”

It’s like asking the ocean to not be wet.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

is wade leaves the cuban city u know he’s going home unless he scared something might happen to him like the a walker incident an a few others

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

only if lee had a better handle don would make him point forward..lmao..

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

as for wade yes the guy is a top 5 player in the league but his injuries over the years might come back so goodluck to the winner…

i know when g.m’s give max to players 2 things go thru there mind hoping he doesn’t get injured or put up weak numbers..

  • BiggieSmalls

So D Wade is off the board?

I guess our “conversations” just got shorter.

  • Hydr0

I dont think donnie will take wade off the board because of what Dave from nysportspace.com has to say about him :) at least i hope not lol

the article is terrible and it’s a joke btw

The injury concern is legitimate, but did you see that ridiculous “crunch time” stat bs….did anyone look at the list?…it’s +/- …do you think the other people on the floor with wade have anything to do with his bad +/- “crunch time” number?…oh and john salmons is 14th in the entire league…wow….he must be awesome in the clutch….I guess salmons at $10 million will be the bargin of the 2010 summer lol

Wade should still be #2 on our list imo

I’m not comming at you biggie at all…i would think that you would still take wade :) But I think it’s funny that by July 1st we will here so much bad news about every FA that we won’t want any of them

I’m still happy with either LBJ, Wade or Bosh…it will be a success imo if we get at least 1 of those guys and good complimentary pieces to put around that player. On the other hand, JJ3 isn’t going to cut it for me. He’s not even the best player on the Hawks…If I had my pick I’d take Josh Smith. How can we give a max contract to a guy that’s not even the best player on his team.

  • Hydr0

wow, look at my post…so much for shorter conversations lol

  • thebossandbenji76

    J-Kidd available?

Mark Cuban indicated that Roddy Beaubois could be in line for a starting job next season if he improves this summer.

“If he works hard and improves … which will give us a great indication of if Roddy is who we think he is, somebody who is really willing to work at Dirk’s level to improve his game, if he does that this summer, and he improves his game like that, he definitely will be a starter.” Beaubois showed flashes of tremendous potential with a 40-point game (including nine threes) in late March, and should definitely be on fantasy owners’ radar as an intriguing sleeper for next season.

Lee used to hustle a lot more and play harder. When he started to realize that people were saying he was good and when he was going into his contract year/though he might get traded, he clearly toned down his efforts on the defensive end.

That’s just my view of course though.

  • fauci933

    Touche.

  • fauci933

Dwight? Then who’s a real center in this league. Dwight is dominant on the defensive end, competent but not eager on the offensive end, he’s huge, and he cant shoot free throws that well…sounds like a Center to me. David Lee is a PF playing Center…Dwight is a Center.

  • fauci933

“chandler isn’t better nor is yi”

So they’re both at the same level?

  • HaS

“…going into his contract year/though he might get traded, he clearly toned down his efforts on the defensive end.”

    Well that’s a new excuse.

I’ve stopped counting… well that’s not true. I’m still counting the days until he’s no longer a Knick.

  • fauci933

Not an excuse at all…it’s inexcusable obviously, it’s just that it seems like he’s trying to put up bigger stats to try to get a bigger payday.

  • YO SON

    yi as good as Chandler……………….wtf…………yo………………………………………….

  • YO SON

So ……worse case scenario Curry will be your back up center in a contract year(come on Eddyyyy)…..another big body to throw at Howard..even if it’s to use 6 more fouls to hacca Howard…..and curry low post skill set will help get Howard into even more foul trouble e-z then he will be tentative and u can then attack the basket………………1

  • x-man

    WOW! Double WOW! YIKES!

After all this you stated, you still don’t see a correlation to our coach allowing this to occur? How does what you stated about Lee makes us a better team?

So now it’s all about a players getting stats to make a big payday somewhere else at the team’s expense and future?

    YIKES!

  • x-man

Well, I could say you’re just playing dumb but i know better! It’s just who you are! lol

  • oscar f

Doesn’t mean kidd is om the block since they both could start and they both have started.

  • fauci933

Firstly, I have said I DON’T like the coach time and time again. All I have ever said is that he can’t be held 100% accountable because there are other factors in play. Stop trying to appear correct just for the sake of being right.

I also never said D’Antoni encouraged that behavior, simply that Lee was a perpetrator of this common alteration that many players make when attempting to get paid, which should not be condoned, but when it is (in many’s eyes) your best player on the floor, it’s tough to bench him. The Knicks were bad but they were no Nets this season, and they remained competitive in a handful of games, where Lee contributed.

  • fauci933

Uh no, perhaps if you could get your point across in something other than broken English, I’d be able to respond, but it’s tough trying to follow what you wrote, so I won’t bother.

  • x-man

YIKES! Now it’as the coach isn’t 100% accountable so it’s not the coach’s fault and he should stay? hahahahaha

Dude, you can give the coach whatever % of the blame you like because I’m just saying he hasn’t been a good coach and should be fired period.

No one is 100% responsible so we shouldn’t get new players either.

It’s truly comical watching some of ya put out certain details or criticisms but won’t dare draw a conclusion on a course of action.

Soooooo, was Isiah 100% responsible so only then he had to go?

You do realize RalpheaL won us a few games and he only hung on the rim several times so we surely can’t fault him 100% either.

    YIKES Faci!

  • x-man

It sure beats broken logic! lol

  • PipeDreamin

you’re missing my point. gallo may have more upside than bynum, but bynum is a type of player that is rare in the league. He’s a legit center. And history tells you that if you want a ring, you need a legit presence down low. Unless you’ve got someone names MJ on your team.

Gallo is good and probably will be great, but there are a lot of good swing men in the league. Efficient centers are hard to come by.
