Join “Knicks Should Hire Charles Oakley” on Facebook

Hey, it worked for Betty White.

So I’ve started a facebook page for Knicks fans who think the organization should hire Charles Oakley in some capacity, whether it be coaching, community relations or anything else. Join the page and pass it on to a friend. Let’s see if we can get 10,000 friends.

I think like me, many of you believed in everything Oak stood for on the court.

And once again, we thank Oak for coming on TKB Radio last night to share some memories and thoughts on the current Knicks.

  • YO SON

dnt tweet but I do agree…….Oakley will end up snuffing antoni and the players if he witnesses antoni practice sessions especially the 5min walk threw on defense………….

  • dino of syracuse

Great interview last night! Oak tells it like it is… Mix in a little ‘D”, gentlemen… Defense stems from pride!

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

lol, great idea tommy…..i’ll def join the group…..

i would have loved for Oak to teach Lee some toughness….

and to me Earl Barron’s game reminds me a lot of the way Oak played, wasn’t the most athletic, wasn’t the quickest, but was effective…..and their jump shot is almost identical and have the same exact range…..Earl jus got to get a lil nastier….but that comes w/ confidence….

  • bmathews77

D’Antoni won’t hire Oakley or anyone that teaches defense. Remember in Phoenix when Steve Kerr was trying to get him to get a assistant coach to teach defense? D’Antoni hated that Kerr was trying to get involved in the coaching aspect. D’Antoni wants to do his 7 seconds or less and just expects his players to play defense. He won’t teach defense. He’s always been like that.

I love how these Cavs fans like Drew Carey for example are in such denial that Lebron won’t leave for NY if he looses this series. Now I know why they are as i read someplace the worst and most miserable fan base in the country in regard to Cleveland.

  • Jack D

    I agree 100%

  • Jack D

    unfortunately….

  • ds2488

lol. Gotta love the legendary Jack Ramsey ripping into Mike Brown for not making any adjustments. He also says the Cav’s offense seems “uncertain” at this point, and Brown is doing a horrible job of involving Antawn Jamison in the offense. Classic. He also mentions Calipari being at the game with Lebron’s agent though, which might not be a good thing for us….

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that playoff teams need offense to win too…

  • thebossandbenji76

Well, if the Cavs lose this series or to the magic, i want to see Lebron turn down NYC, being able to become a billionare as well as a chance to play with Great player, like a bosh or something that is better then anything the Cavs have…he’s not going to Chicago because if he don’t win 7 titles he’s considered a failure, he’s not going to Miami to play with Wade, it’s set up..he’s going to NY if he losses and chances are….Bosh is going with him.

  • EQ1217

Chris Broussard is killing the Knicks…
    http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/columns/story?columnist=broussard_chris&id=5185810

At first glance, he just sounds like a NY hater, but there is some truth to it.

Facts are facts, we havent won in 37 years and we’ve been brutal for the past ten years.

  • YO SON

with all do respect to Jack Ramsey if Mike Brown focused the entire offense around jamison he will not show up…………he’s not built for the bright lights nobody on there roster outside of Lebron and Shaq is….he hasn’t shown his entire career that he can shine in this kind of pressure pact atmosphere…….and the light’s arent going to be any brighter and any hotter then tonight……he’s seems like a really good dude and it would be kool if he had a brake out game 2night but I dont see it…………

  • YO SON

shout out to Tommy for posting and showing love to the Oak-Man…….especially after he spoke the truth last night and ripped the organization and the head coach………..

  • HaS

That article has a lot of truth to it, although it is hard to hear from someone not from the city.

However, does that lend more or less credence to the fact that it may mirror the opinion of an outsider?

“I’ve heard players, executives and coaches trash the Garden as a dump.

And compared to the new, state-of-the-art arenas that most every other team has, it is pretty unimpressive. Quite frankly, it seems dark and dingy.”

    ^this.

I took a tour of the Garden once and I’ve gotta say I was thoroughly disappointed. The locker room was atrocious, very High School (maybe worse), low ceilings/doorways and overall just completely old looking (and not in the vintage sort of way but in a cheap outdated way).

  • Chris Alvino

Yeah maybe Oak can teach our big men how to play tough. Maybe teach some moves on how to knock guys to the ground. I’m in favor of Oak bringing more grit to the organization.

  • Knicks4life

    Earl Barrron:Charles Oakley like
    K4L:President Obama

    Just sayin . . .

  • Knicks4life

Nope that honor goes to Boston . . .I hate Boston.

  • CircleLimit4

How about a facebook group for any sort of defensive mind to help coach.

  • Knicks4life

IF LBJ is really hurt, Jamison is the best option. Having Mo, Parker and Delonte jack up shots is not as good as running an inside/out game with Jamison and Shaq.

Ramsey is right about Brown and not making adjustments.

  • Knicks4life

Why would he be a billionare faster in NY?

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

cmon k4l, we allll loved oak, but don’t act like he was karl malone or charles barkley or anything…lol…

earl can def be oaklyesk……especially if he had sum1 like oak working w/ him….def won’t get that nastiness from herb williams, who acts/looks like he smokes more trees than the “CHIEF” himself…lol…

thus the reason why allllllll our bigs are and have been soft….look at their teacher….

  • bmathews77

Not sure if anyone posted this article on RealGM but it makes alot of sense to me….

    http://cavaliers.realgm.com/articles/126/201005/get_off_lebrons_back_already/

    Love this part:

“Nothing is wrong with James, at least nothing we have been made aware of. There is something wrong with the rest of his teammates – they haven’t shown up the way he needs them to.

Kevin Garnett is making Antwan Jamison look like he, not Garnett, is the player recovering from knee problems.

Rajon Rondo is cooking Williams like a holiday ham.

Ray Allen is looking like he took a dip in the hot tub time machine; coming off screens like he’s 25 again.

The Celtics’ bench is totally outplaying the Cavs’ bench and Doc Rivers is coaching circles around Mike Brown.”

  • BASEline LANEdrive

    Broussard is a hater, lol!

“When the modern Knicks did reach the Finals in ’94, it became a slugfest, Exhibit A for non-artistic, unwatchable basketball.”

Wow. That finals was a classic. so much drama.
    - Ewing vs. Olajuwon (who met in their college championship years before)
    - it was a 7 game series where no game was settled by more than 9 pts
    - Though outplayed by Olajuwon, Ewing set a finals record with 30 blks
    - Derek Harper Effect (hand checks galore)
    - Mason & Oakley vs Thorpe & Herrerra
    - The game 5 OJ car chase interruption — classic moment, lol

I watched the series recently and it was tough, hard nosed basketball. I bet Broussard was glad when they outlawed the hand check.

  • oscar f

Baseless comments by Broussard. How does he know what stars think about NY and joining this summer? When you make statements like that then you better be sure about what you are saying. How does his credibility look when or if the top FA’s join the knicks as their first choice. Sometimes these guys who make those kind of broad statements should really do research about the pros and cons of a player coming to NY before they put their foot in their mouths. As analyst of anything you should probably do an analysis before you draw a conclusion based on how you personally feel. His examples , Nash,J-kidd and Hill during a time the knicks can’t offer the most money, or a chance to compete for a ring right away. This to him means the knicks are not a team of interest ? Wow that sounds kind of a dumb assumption . Did they all call him and say ” well we don’t like the knicks and was just using them for our own benefit?” Non knicks fans tend to be negative about any knick progress.

  • BASEline LANEdrive

i dunno.. if the oak man teaches our guys defense they might foul out every game! the NBA has changed, lol.

naw, i’d love to have oakley in the coaching staff.. truth be told he is probably my favorite player of all time. the grit he had was unparallelled.

  • HaS

“Non knicks fans tend to be negative about any knick progress.”

    There hasn’t been any.

  • bmathews77

The Knicks need to sign Jenny Craig for Eddy Curry….oh wait, he may prefer Richard Simmons.

  • YO SON

inside outside game results into mo parker west and moon jacking up 3′z and they WILL MISS………and the resolution to beating the celtics and winning a championship is going threw shaq and jamison inside/out game is DELUSIONAL…..shaq was done b4 miami got to the finals and that was like what 3/4 years ago…..come on bro….this roster is so flawed and built for the regular season….it’s laughable to think that this roster can get it done been laughin since last year and this summer including this past trade deadline……..Pop or Jackson couldnt win with this roster……..Brown is a scapegoat……….which is TYPICAL……and I understand people think they should run more ……but parker has no playoff experiance moon has no playoff experiance west has shown to choke later in the playoffs mo has 1 year of playoff experiance and what did he do NOTHING……jamison has the most playoff experiance outside of Shaq and that was with the Mavs but they traded him and didnt do a damn thing 4 the wiz.and big-Z is not a factor……….FLAWD……u cant run with a roster that has no MENTAL DISCIPLNE/TOUGHNESS espically in the EAST……………….

  • bmathews77

I agree – this Cleveland roster is way too flawed to help Lebron win a championship. It doesn’t work like a well oiled machine like the Orlando Magic squad or even these Boston Celtics.
Danny Ferry did a horrible job by just stockpiling a few names (Shaq, Jamison, Parker, Mo Williams…)

  • YO SON

the media has built that roster up to be a championship roster just to tare Lebron down which there enjoying doing as u can see for thr past 2 days…….but most of that is warrented with all the laughing dancing and joking around that they do and Noa was right for calling them dudes out……..but there od’ing pilling on Lebron and conveiently neglecting the fact that NO ONE on that roster stepped up while there SUPERSTAR had a bad game is f’d up….not even for a couple of quarters for him to get his mental game back together…….everything is on him……there roster is FLAWD……

  • YO SON

thats all he did thank you b77…..u have to step back and be objective and look really what has these guys done in there career individually that can prove that they can come threw in the CLUTCH………and besides Shaq damn near a decade ago they have doen NOTHING……….

  • x-man

    lmao! U Cavs ya! lmao!

    Lebron is coming

  • Curious G

There seems to be a little anti-Knicks coming from Espn talking heads. Especially Jon Barry!! He said the knicks only talented player is Chandler, totally disregarding Gallo. This is the same guy who the knicks would not be a top four seed even if they got Bosh and Joe Johnson. But Atlanta without J.J. are not a 3 seed and pairing him with a big like Bosh to go with Gallo and Chandler is not a bad start. I know everyone is down on J.J. but he is what he is a secondary star that can carry a team for short stretches. He will be overpaid this summer!!! But like I have been telling everybody who would listen, LEBRON IS COMING!!! If he stays with the Cavs he will be this generations Karl Malone.

  • Curious G

You see what I see. Where is the objectivity Broussard? Its kinda funny though, the Knicks are the Blue and Orange elephant in the room they are trying to ignore. LMAO
