Tuesday Workouts

Via Knicks PR:

“…

• Denis Clemente, G, Kansas State
• Gavin Edwards, C, Connecticut
• Jeff Foote, C, Cornell
• Courtney Fortson, G, Arkansas
• Marquis Gilstrap, G, Iowa State
• Ryan Wittman, G, Cornell…”

The second workout for Jeff Foote…

  • YO SON

I like Clemente and homie with the beard haha(forgot his name at the moment but he was the leader of that kansas state team)…that was a ill college back court ….fun to watch……..

  • cragganmor

I think Wittman gets a very close look as a situational shooter, he was deadly efficient from behind the arc for Cornell.

  • YO SON

    yea PULLEN…..dudes nice’

  • grahambo86

Jeff Foote is getting a real good look since this is his 2nd workout. Any reason to think he can’t be worth a 2nd round pick and contribute?

    (I ask because I haven’t seen him play so I don’t know.)

  • oscar f

I hope they bring back D. Jones for another work out. That guys has a nice skill set and would make a nice defender in the NBA. I could easily see him getting 2-3 steals a game in the knicks system where there are a more possesions.

  • CircleLimit4

I like the kid, he’s got heart, but Gavin Edwards isn’t even worth a workout and in no way is he a center at the next level.

  • YO SON

I think you have been promoting him hard…I think I may have seen him play like 1 game if that….was it you that compared him to be a poor man’s Wade……..if he is as good as advertise he will be gone before we can even possibly pay for a late first rounder……

  • clyde fan

I saw all 4 years of Gavin Edwards career(as a UCONN season ticketholder).

I always thought he would be a better pro(Europe or NBA) than a college player. The kind of guy who would stick around for 7-8 years.

It wouldn’t kill the Knicks to bring him in as a UDFA.

He can run the floor and he progressed nicely year to year.

Needs to get stronger(as a rebounder) for sure to play in the league. Has a nice mid range shot.

  • clyde fan

No way he plays center -more PF(thats why he needs to get stronger).

he could play 10 min a game and not kill you.

  • JaymanJD

Foote is getting a another look noooo please dont select this stiff. Work outs mean nothing!! Don’t be fooled!!

  • adornoj1

I played against Clemente in High School….he lit us up lol

  • CircleLimit4

I’ve watched Edward all 4 years too and his leap from year 3 to 4 was impressive, but I think it was out of necessity. Oriakhi, Okwandu and Majok weren’t really the freshman phenoms we were hoping for and Edwards had to step it up a bit. Regardless he was still a low-usage role player on a disappointing UConn team, I’m not sure how that will translate well in the NBA

He could carve a niche as a hustle forward for 5 mins on the next level, a la Lou Amundson, but that’s the best case scenario, imo. He needs to get stronger and take better care of the ball.

Got a question, he’s a restricted free-agent, but out of respect I can see his present team giving him the chance to move on and possibly be a starting pg in the league(like PHX did w/ Joe Johnson)….would any of you guys try and sign Jordan Farmar this year as a pure pg that can certainly (and loves to) run the floor??? I wrote about him a couple months ago on my blog and still think he would be a good option to battle for the starting spot w/ TD and whatever rookie pg we draft this off-season…

  • YO SON

draft express has us taking that guy you guys talk and talk about a lot varnando…they have us drafting back to back PF’s…..they must do there homework…they know us well……haha..

  • vin

As much as you can believe a highlight reel, Foote looks good – http://cornellbasketball.blogspot.com/2010/05/jeff-foote-career-highlight-video.html

He also interviews well in the sens that he sounds hungryhttp://ivybbn.com/?tag=jeff-foote

  • greywolf

    another future scrub…

  • knicksallday

JEROME RANDALL!!! FORM CAL!!!!!!! THATS WHO WE NEED TO GET!!1

  • bbrody1

lol here comes the BOOM jeff foote haha

he’d be a good pickup after he goes undrafted tho

all these dudes are scrubs, looking wayyyy into the rough for diamonds haha

read an article for OKC where they want them to draft warren and brackins with 26 and 32, which is my ideal draft…

dom jones is good but his range is lacking a little bit for a 2guard, id be happy with that pick. my dude warrens got a more complete game when his heads on straight…

elliot williams might slip into the second round he apparently got hurt after san antonio workout and hasn’t had any workouts since, prob around an 8 week recovery i think. he would be a sick pickup in the second round.

  • ds2488

I thought we already worked out Foote, is he coming back for a 2nd?

Anyway, there’s no way Edwards is a center in the NBA, although I like him as a hustle guy but don’t see the need for us to draft him.

I really like Clemente being worked out. Like someone said above, he was a warrior and same goes for Pullen(was it Yo Son, did we actually agree on something). I think I would like Pullen more, but maybe Clemente is more of an NBA prospect. I haven’t really heard a lot about either one of them in this draft.

  • fredweis

Foote played well (enough) against Cousins and Orton in the sweet 16 and both those guys are 1st round locks. So he can compete.

He doesn’t have the “ceiling” of Whiteside, Orton or the other non-lotto bigs in this draft, but he is arguably far more polished. If he turns into a better passing Jeff Foster (a previous Walsh find) he’d be a successful 2nd round pick.

Tommy, you know if any other teams are working Foote out?

Barring a trade up, I’d be happy walking away with Brackins and Foote. Both target as good role players. Really, what more can you expect from a 2nd rounder?

  • fredweis

I don’t think Elliot Williams is slipping too far. This draft is so weak at the guard position.

  • fredweis

some fancy footwork. looks like a young Memo.

  • itzyung1

No I Called Him The Poor Mans Wade, but thats my opinion.
Alot of people are sleeping on him so he may be available at 25.

  • SilentJay

Wow, spot on, Circle, I completely agree with you. Great review of the guy. I also had the luck of following him and I was under the same impression of his future NBA role. As we get closer to the draft I’m more convinced that the right move for Walsh should be to get more 2nd rounders and if he sees fit should a player he wants moves up the board, to go for a late 1st.
There are many options, but in the end I tihnk the right move is to go for whoever can make the easier and quicker transition. In a summer where it’s possible that this franchise caps out after getting 2 max guys, this team can’t have the luxury of having young projects in the team and making us lack bench depth.
Aside from that, we all know that positions are the ones that should be adressed as fast as possible.

  • jaknicksfan

Thats a good idea, i like frmar hes playoffplayer an would make a good addition to the team plus hes still young.

  • YO SON

and why would the griz be willing to give up there 25th pick……

  • YO SON

    I just read why nevermind…haha….

  • Mucha

    I hate Jordan Farmar.

I like his aggressiveness but he always makes poor decisions. He’s been awful in the NBA Finals, I don’t think he’s a reliable back-up point guard unless you have a superstar PG like Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

  • Mucha

    A 2nd work-out isn’t necessarily a positive sign.

    Remember Jrue Holiday.

  • SilentJay

Yup. Horrible decision maker. Yeah, he’s got playoff experience, but that’s not enoguh to be a floor general. The only reason he cuts it in LA’s because he’s surrounded by a great team and one of the best players of all time.
Going even further, he’s not even close to being decent as Fisher, and I find him to be quite the poor PG as well, so that says a lot of what I think of Farmar.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    lmao..gotta laugh
    farmar is who he is
signing farmar will be like signing a light skin duhon thats a little quicker
    can’t really shoot etc..

talking about guys like farmar is a waste of typing so i just wasted time…

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    plus in the triangle u don’t need a pure p.g or a good p.g or any p.g

  • Mal

Josh Boone is better so I think we may need to pass on Edwards

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

foote will come into the league an the headlines will be JEFF FOOTE OUT FOR SEASON WITH A BROKEN FOOT

  • Mal

They know how foolish our drafting has been. Oh well what nine days to go Im just hoping some wheeling and dealing blockbustering goes down on draft day

  • cragganmor

Don’t read too much into a 2nd workout, they probably just need another big to run 3-on-3′s. He’s from Lockwood NY, upstate.
