Terrico White is another guy to watch, nice combo guard, brings comparisons to a “poor mans D-wade”, which isnt all that poor. Very athletic, solid shooter, solid defender, mediocre playermaker, however. Hes definetly a guard to keep an eye on.

I used to pull for White before I Heard a Larry Hughes comparison.

I would only worry if they said Larry Hughes on the Knicks or Bulls… Otherwise he didnt have a horrible career

Well many people compared Tyreke Evans to Larry Hughes (couldn’t understand why though)…

yeah exactly… Just because a player may have the same height and talent doesnt mean they have the same mentality… Which is the real determining factor in what caliber player a dude might become… If Nate had a different attitude he might be damn near all-star material

            Jun 20, 2010, 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm #

I don’t know. I think Nate has the right attitude at least from an agressiveness pov, but he just doesn’t have enough size. If he picked up some pg skills he makes a very solid 6th man imo.

As it stands, he’s more of an 8th man bench scorer who doesn’t really have a position because he’s a sg who’s smaller than most pgs.

But I agree that mentality is extremely important.

“smaller than *all pgs.” I should say.

Nate’s immaturity and lack of willingness to really convert to pg is his problem… He has so much natural ability that he takes the easy way out and always reverts to his old ways… The game comes too easy for him, and as a result coaches and he as well allowed him to just be Nate because even when he does that he is a talent in this league… Nate could be a better pg, and defender… He has all the tools even at his height

          • ds2488
            Jun 20, 2010, 7:28 pm at 7:28 pm #

Ok I agree that he’s never really committed to becoming a backup pg.

I still think he’s just limited because of his height, but I agree he could have put in more of an effort to become a pg hybrid and a pesky defender(which he did kind of well for the Celtics).

          Jun 20, 2010, 5:22 pm at 5:22 pm #

Who did that? Thats not a good comparison at all the reason why this one stuck is because Terico is an athletic tall combo guard thats more of a scorer than a shooter ad is ball dominant.

Collins looks great physically which puts all the “overweight” issues to rest and i can def envision him as a Jameer Nelson prototype BUT T. White looks IMPRESSIVE!!!! Def someone to keep an eye on w/ that athleticism and outside shot & DEFENSE @ that size is thoroughly impressive…quite frankly i think both these guys are off the board before we pick even if we do buy a 1st round pick (i think if we buy a pick we go bigman) but bith these guys look really good but i would prefer White cuz of his size

Collins can be a Nelson type… And he reminds me of Collison last year, a player that teams slept on after years of running a team… I’d take a chance on Collins always liked his game and he might become a better NBA player than expected…

    • YO SON
      Jun 20, 2010, 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm #

I agree with you he’s exactly like a nelson clone…. hard to pass on him to if he slips to us……..I think dudes sleeping on him….yea white looks great training against a bunch of ……I’m just going to say guys…….but how does that translate into the NBA…never watched, a ole miss game..but I have watched kansas games and respect the level of competition threw the season and into the tournament combined with the expectation of playing at kansas I may have to side with nelson….not sleepin on white just sayin…….

who would you prefer nelson or randle…..haven’t watched many cal games either haha……..hope those that respond actually saw enough games to compare……

but stepheson looks like he embraces the idea of being a Knick but the expectations are so much lower and realistic for a second rounder coming out of cincinnati regardless of the scoring title………

        Jun 20, 2010, 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm #

Didnt see alot of Randle but from what I have seen he does have talent… I like Collins because he has played well in a high profile college and has kept his team competitive…. Randle looks like a sleeper his quickness is crazy and is handle is lethal, plus he can shoot…

Not sure about Lance, being in NY and living up to the cities hype for him might be a bit much at his age… But I’d take a chance if other dudes are off the board…

for this system Randle seems better based on shooting numbers… but I’ve seen Collins more

            Jun 20, 2010, 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #

            NELSON? or Randle?

You cant compare Jameer Nelson to an unproven 2nd round PG…

But if you meant Collins or Randle, I like Randle, the fastest guy in the whole draft, yeah, hes also the shortest, but he makes up for it in heart. He kinda reminds me of Nate a little bit, but with MUCH MUCH better playmaking ability, and even Randles isnt all that great…

As for Collins, I dont think hes a Jameer Nelson clone, he is just like, and will have a career like, Will Bynum. Fast, Energy Change-Of-Pace Point Guard. Thats Sherron Collins for you.

Even if he was comparing Randle to Nelson truth be told Randle was the better college player (PAC-10 player of the year) is a better shooter passer and ball handler. That is just a fact from just watching what right in front of your face and the statistical numbers. If some want to hate on a guy for not being 6’3 then just be real and hate dont make up smoke screens.

All this crap about a defensive big PG does Nash play defense? Does Parker plat defense? Does Harris play defense? Does Rose play defense? Does Nelson play defense? So on and so forth….These PG’s play dee as best they can but run a system successfully which is why they succeed because they fit there system. A pure PG who can distribute the ball as well as push it on the fast break has crazy handle and limitless range is just what this system needs hands down. If people want to pretend MD is not the coach of this team fine but in the end of the day this is the system we have and need to fuel or we will be ass out!

Randle fits the system and is hands down a better basketball player then Nelson and is only frowned upon based on a height bias. We need a PG to run this system not some tall combo guard who cant play point.

The knicks worked out this kid Bobby Maze the Tennessee point guard who is said to be an allen iverson clone in look and style. If you see his youtube clip you probably wont disagree this guy can get to the rack and stroke it.

    COLLISON OR RANDLE REALISTIC OPTIONS………………………………………..

hahaha I initially typed nelson when thinking of collison above….that’s crazy..maybe a sign…. honestly I didn’t think nelson would translate like he has…especially as fast….and he probably was playing against weaker competition at st joes then collison at kansas…..just saying…….

    • ds2488
      Jun 20, 2010, 7:58 pm at 7:58 pm #

Definitely Randle if the price to get Collison is going to be something like Wilson and Eddy just to take on a terrible contract in Okafor’s.

      How about you?

This is why this draft is important to find a diamond in the rough like maybe Randle or another pg, so we don’t have to overpay for a guy like Collison.

          COLLINS OR RANDLE REALISTIC OPTIONS……………………

          • ds2488
            Jun 20, 2010, 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #

lol. Im going with Randle, unless Collins loses 10 pounds or so. If Collins lost some weight, I would go with him I think.

But damn, does Randle look sick in some of the videos I’ve seen of him on youtube. I would have loved to see him in a game to really judge him though.

          • YO SON
            Jun 20, 2010, 8:23 pm at 8:23 pm #

I’m leaning collins…..granted I never seen randle play….at least not long enough to critic his game……but I KNOW that collins has played against better competition……has achieved more then randle granted collins has more around him….but having some success as the floor general with talent around you is what makes a good point guard……I think the fact that he’s played with talent will help make it a easier transition I would think than randle who I’m sure didn’t play with much talent……I like the fact that collins had to play with a lot of expectations while playing for kansas… granted they underachieved but still had a good year with a bullzeye on there head every game….so he‘s use to intense pressure….there both smaller points …so guys will shoot jumpers over them but no point guard in the league is going to muscle collins unless he lets them and I cant see that happening…….so my pick is COLLINS………….

          • ds2488
            Jun 20, 2010, 8:26 pm at 8:26 pm #

I agree with everything you said IF Collins was to lose some weight.

He just looks too heavy, and I’ve read an account or two of workouts of his where he seemed slow, overweight, and overmatched against other competition.

But I definitely agree with everything you said, as long as he gets to the right playing weight which I clearly don’t think he’s at right now.

          • YO SON
            Jun 20, 2010, 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm #

even after the clip you still feel he is out of shape…..I’m not concern with that honestly….I think he will be ready and the thought of playing in a Dantoni’s type system he will be ready….or will be forst to be one way or another(he can ask eddy)..I think he’s a good kid with a good head on his shoulders….I would love to see him and TD go at it everyday in practice he will have no choice but to get in shape….has there ever been a case were a pg wasn’t in shape and had weight issues in the NBA…haha….

quick question I dont remember, not sure but was there concern for nelson as far as weight issues when he was coming out the draft……..

            Yeah, I agree with that.

I don’t remember about Nelson though. Thats a good question I would imagine it had to be a little bit of an issue but he turned into a pretty good player anyway.

I don’t get this. Mikhail (is he part russian?) Torrance absolutely has to be in the knicks plans given their pg need. Pls consider the following:
    – 16ppg, 4rpg, 5+apg, 47% fg%, 36% 3p%
    – 4 year player (ie, ready to contribute) who improved each year
    – 6’5″ and 210 lbs – nba ready body

I would much rather have a 6.5″ pg than stephensen with the knicks.

Tommy Dee – Why isn’t torrance getting more attention? Do you think he is a dantoni/walsh player?
