Source: Amar’e and NY “In Numbers”

By Tommy Dee on Jul 01, 2010, 11:35 pm

A source  close to Amar’e's camp informs us that the Suns big man is ready to come to NY and that they are currently, “figuring out the numbers.”

I’ve somewhat posted conflicting reports about Amar’e and Miami because I’m getting info from everywhere, but it sounds like he’s ready to commit to the Big Apple and it’s a numbers crunch. One would figure it’s a big deal and a risk for the Knicks if Lebron does not come along with him.

However, could this be the first shoe to drop in what could be the greatest pick and roll tandem in NBA history?

Stay tuned…Trying to confirm. But either way we won’t know officially  for a while so hang in there…

    IMO:

    Lee >>> Amare

STAT (gee why is that his nickname?) is not a 20-10 guy, more like 20-5/6 and complains if he’s not getting “his”. Plus Lee would be cheaper leaving more $ for another player (Haywood?)

How much cheaper would Lee be really? Gay got a max contract. Amir J got overpaid. Lee can argue 13 mill to start. Lee at 13, Lebron at 16.6, No way haywood signs for arond 6 mil. It’s about star power and if the perception, which he probably is, and Lebron agrees, spend the extra money for amare. is that amare is better

Amare is actually a decent Weakside Shot Blocker. He actually tries on defense and he is taller than Lee, believe it or not Height plays a difference.

I wouldn’t be upset if the Knicks came outta this thing without LeBron, if they snagged Amare and pulled off a trade for Paul.

Having a stud PG and PF (talk about PnR) would immediately make us a playoff team and I guarantee Melo wouldn’t be signing any extension if he looked and saw a huge vacancy at the 3 in NY with these two beasts already here.

At this point, CP3 and Amare would be a dream. I’d love it.

did anyone hear that bosh was signed by some agency to tape the whole free agency process and he has a film crew following him to all the meeting to document all of this?
is he nuts? i thought his twitter posts were crazy enough.
i want no part of this selfish, self-absorbed nut, he’d be out of control in nyc!
pat riley can baby sit him for the next 5 years!

Amar’e Stoudemire isn’t going to return to the Suns as he has received a better offer than anything he expects from Phoenix.

A source told FOX Sports that Stoudemire is so impressed with the deal that he could agree to it as soon as Friday, making him the first major free agent to come off the market.

Stoudemire met with the Heat on Thursday, but it isn’t clear whether Miami is the team that made the offer.

He planned to visit with the Knicks on Monday and also has a meeting in the works with the Bulls.

I always thought he was destined for Miami and that Bosh was destined for here. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Im happy with Amare coming as long as LeBron is following, which I feel very positive about after yesterday. Sounds like Donnie and Mike were pretty happy with their pitch.

Imagine Douglas, Gallo, Chandler, Lebron and Amare this season with potentially Tony Parker next year? Definitely a possibility.

In, my mind, just the word Nets sounds like the Price is Right Losing Horns. (http://priceisrightlosinghorn.com/)

I think all New Yorkers feel the same. Add LeBron to the mix, it doesn’t change a thing.

      I agree.

But if they got LeBron and moved to Brooklyn and the Knicks had another couple of losing seasons, man a lot of people would jump ship.

your right TDEE, a pick n roll involving hwsnbn(he who shall not be named) and amare would be devastating. Pick your poison right?

This news makes me feel sad, sad in the fact that hwsnbn is not interested in david lee as a teammate. If he was, i doubt that the knicks would be bumping up their scheduled date with amare. If we get amare to commit before monday, it should play a huge role in hwsnbn decision.
