Forbes: Knicks Offer for Wade

Yesterday, the Knicks’ brass told LeBron he’d likely earn $1 billion if he chose New York. (See the Exclusive Presentation). Why? Huge market, classic team, wide media reach and large (rich) fan base.

They’ll tell Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade the same. Another Interbrand study (commissioned by the Knicks) claims Wade could expect to earn $425 million as a Knick

Interesting that Forbes notes that the Nets were omitted from the brand study. But frankly, the reason is simple, the Knicks get a head start before the Nets play in Brooklyn. It would have to have some impact.

    Then they should have used the Nets in the study and noted that fact. They should have done a study for: (a) how much they would make if he is in New Jersey forever (to really scare them) and (b) how much they would make with two years in Newark and then a career in Brooklyn. Either way, while I am no Economist (well I did major in Economics), I assume the Knicks would still come out on top.

    The study is incomplete especially in light of what the Russian Playboy and Jay-Z are selling at these meetings. The Nets are simply an elephant in the room.

    I can’t help but wonder if these free agents are finding these presentations to be a bit corny. Not to mention they may be offended by a pitch that revolves so much around potential wealth creation as opposed to basketball and winning.

    Please, I want LeBron to go the the Nets… So we can beat the living crap out of him and he can realize he could have had it all!!!

    I’m born and rasied in Brooklyn.. Love Jay-Z.. New owner looks like he is cool, but they are not BASKETBALL PEOPLE!!!! The one thing they had going was Thorn and he’s leaving!

    It’s well known, and he will build a team. I was nervous but the more and more I see it unfold I get what we’re doing, and if LeBron doesn’t want to be part of this he’ll become “A WITNESS” lol

    Does anyone know if these were the EXACT slides used by the Knicks…of course not! Isn’t it possible an updated slide deck was prepared? None of us were in the meeting…For all we know, they could have spent 2 hrs trashing the Nets.

    It’s funny how in the national media we have been reduced to “not even being considered at this point.” If they are going that far over board, they clearly are being manipulated; this is scripted. Which is why I am just as confident as i ever was, which is isn’t that confident. But confident enough to where i still believe it’s us or cleveland.
