If this can happen after we get Lebron.. Fine..

I do not want him instead of Lebron..

    Not enough, sorry..

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

I do not think it will just be Parker and Amare. They are trying to get Parker to further entice Joe Johnson to sign – who is now – according to fanhouse – leaning towards resigning with Atlanta.

  • ARNY

i see this as us actually getting bron bron !!! lets go knicks !!!!

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Does a David Lee s&t with our 2011 draft pick get Tony Parker? I know Chandler does not get it done – neither does Eddy C’s contract b/c why would San Antonio want an expiring contract when Parker is already an expiring contract.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Knicks are also trying to put the full court pressure on Joe Johnson:

    http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/07/03/sources-joe-johnson-expected-to-stay-in-atlanta/

It seems our Knicks are, at least in one of their plans, trying to go for Parker, Johnson, and Amare. Parker appears to be the key at this point.

  • JeffM729

No way you get Parker, Amare, and another star.

    $22 Knicks current salary
    $17 Amare
    $13 Parker
    $4 left for FA

And no one is taking Eddy Curry for Tony Parker. Don’t go there.

  • itzyung1

TD, Wilson and Curry For Toney P?

    Toney P
    JJ
    Gallo
    Amare
    Jordan

I Really Like Toney Douglas Though.

  • Armand27

    Jordan???

  • Gallo08

make it happen and our 2010-11 line will look like:

    pg.) Parker
    sg.) miller
    sf.) LBJ (king of NY)
    pf.) Amare
c.) ????????????Maybe we can get jermaine oneal for for cheap nice vet i think he should have some juice left in the tank and he can help our big man jerome jordan for cheap

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

You are right – numbers will not allow really any big or mid tier FA to sign if Parker and his 13.5 million contract is acquired.

And fallback option Miller would not be available – he wants north of 5.8 million.

If the Parker deal goes through – that’s all folks – it will be Amare and Parker – and then wait next season to use Eddy C’s contract at the trade deadline or for it to come off the books next summer (which is more likely).

  • Gallo08

    or even better

    Parker
    Miller
    Gallo
LBJ (He has the strenght to guard any pf in the league
    Amare

    TALK ABOUT RUN AND GUN

  • JeffM729

The Spurs didn’t get all those rings by trading guys that win a Finals MVP for guys that don’t play basketball.

  • itzyung1

He’s Just A Contract He Isn’t Getting Traded Anywhere to play its because the bigger the expiring the more valuable it is. I wish you people would get that because its not that freaking hard to get.

  • yanks2214

Is Tony Parker worth it? In the past 3 seasons he has played 69, 72, 59 games. Never averaged more than 7 assists. I have not seen him play a lot, am I missing something?

  • JaymanJD

DIRK took 80 mil over 4 years to stay in Dallas. You got to love the loyalty but Dirk seems to be pissing his career away. I dont see Dallas winning anything in the next four years. They are probably the oldest team in the league with Terry and Kidd. Dirk is getting up there as well. And on top of that Dirk you took less money when you could have made 96 mil. You got to live on the money the rest of your life leaving 16 mil on the table. Would have had much more of shot to win a ring in the east than the west. Dirk is looking to be the next Patrick Ewing.

  • Armand27

    Yea, Yank..

    Def not feeling Tony Parker..

Just keep TD and his 1.25 and go after a bigger player.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

expiring contracts like Eddy Cs are only valuable to teams who are trying to unload another longer contract – think Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Gilbert Arenas, Al Jefferson.

Parker is an EXPIRING CONTRACT. San Antonio gets no benefit from it.

  • JeffM729

    If you want a third star, here is a way to do it;

Trade Curry and Chandler for Arenas. (that may work in reality)

    S&T Lee for Parker

    $13.5 Parker
    $17.7 Arenas
    $17.2 Stoudemire
$8.5 Gallo, TD, Walker, and 6 guys named Mo.

    $56.1 Total

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    More from Ian O’Connor

#Knicks know they need 2 big names to take back to fan base. Amare & Tony Parker (via 3way trade) on pick & roll, then spend again next yr

Wonder who the 3rd team could be? And could it involve Lee plus our draft pick this upcoming season? Is it the T-Wolves?

  • Ol Dirty 187

i dont really know how i feel about that…i guess id be satified becuase wed be 100 times better then last year, and the fact that well have cap space for next year makes it all easier to swallow (no homo)…

  • JeffM729

If Eddy Curry is so valuable, why is he still here?

  • bb_dot

stay away from Arenas. He is toxic. marbury 2.

  • Ol Dirty 187

    i kinda agree

  • ds2488

If the Knicks can somehow work a trade for TP with Eddy Curry’s contract then I am all for it. But I doubt that happens though.

I will say that I find Amare and Tony Parker extremely intriguing and a good sell for someone like Lebron. We can tell Lebron we have 2 players who were top 3 on championship caliber teams, and just adding him would be very appealing to him I guess.

But again, very unlikely. Can TD, Chandler, and Curry get it done for TP? Maybe the Spurs figure they won’t get anything for TP when he leaves next year and they’re not planning on resigning him anyway, so getting some young talent back for him might make them think about it. But I don’t see them doing it unfortunately.

  • itzyung1

Actually They Would! If we mix in enough Young Talent It Definitely would.
Would they rather take back a contract that is longer Than TP’s or one that ends when TP’s ends.

  • itzyung1

Because He Didn’t Become An Expiring Until This Year.
And I Said His Contract Is Valuable Don’t Take Stuff Out Of Context.

  • bb_dot

I bet Cuban offered him some managerial position with the Mavs after retirement..

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

@itzyung1 – they would want yes young talent in return – you are dealing with the Spurs here – a well run organization – not an imaginary video game trade simulator – you ready to send Gallo in that trade?

  • Ol Dirty 187

i think im actully ight with that. We set a foundation of amare, parker, galo, will, td, walker, and rautins and whoever else we plan on signing and then add a major piece next year that will hopefully put us over the edge, and maybe make us an elite force in the east…

at least with a lineup or parker, will, galo, amare, and whoever we have play center, is prolly like a 6 7 or 8 seed in the east!

sadly at least the playoffs sound sgreat to me after the last decade…

  • Ol Dirty 187

i forgot that will or td will prolly be traded for parker…i still feel that way tho

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

LOL – says a lot about Mark Cuban and his team now – he is now trying to get players to take less b/c he is finally beginning to worry about the cap and the inflexibility it presents being so over the cap. Then again – Cuban for all of his money – has a history of being cheap – Dallas fans still have never forgiven him for letting Steve Nash go.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Ol Dirty – like your realistic outlook. Very refreshing. And I agree with your later post – Chandler will be involved probably somehow – probably along with Lee in a s&t plus our draft pick in 2011 perhaps.

  • bb_dot

not sure how much Parker has left in his tank. But that kid has heart and the right swagger to be a success in NY. Problem is that his style relies on speed and slashing. Not sure if he can transition into a different kind of player once he slows down..

  • bb_dot

that was a mistake of epic proportions. I will say that cost the Mavs a championship somewhere down the line..

  • itzyung1

How do you know they want Gallo you are assuming they would demand Gallo..
Just like Im assuming they would accept TD, and Wilson Who Are Both Pretty Good Young Talent Their selves and are Good Defenders As Well.

But Just because you downplay the talent we have on this team doesn’t mean everyone is blind.

  • Ol Dirty 187

yeah which sucks cuz i think ill will is a good overall player. When he plays his game (not shooting threes), when hes 18 feet and in hes one of the most talented mid range players out there. Not to mention hes pretty explosive on the break, that being said (and dont hate on me knicks fans) i think i would give will up for parker…

  • brookdon

If we don’t get LBJ shouldn’t we just trade for Melo (D Lee Wilson chandler and a pick).

Sign TP as a free agent. If we trade for TP now we have no chance at Melo (he’ll be traded well before free agency). Maybe D Lee, Toney Douglas and Wilson Chandler.

    1. Tony Parker
    2. Carmelo Anthony
    3. Danilo Gallinari
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Jerome Jordan.

    That’d a championship level team

  • Ol Dirty 187

    Agreed…

lets all just see how this turns out, i know its hard to trust anyone after isiah but to be honest i have faith in donnie (not so much dantoni, cuz i dont believe in his “run and gun” madness but thats another issue). I think well all be pretty happy come the start of the season!

lets try and stay positive fellow knicks fans!

  • JeffM729

The Spurs could just take Chandler and TD. They don’t have to take Curry back to equal the salary.

That would save them his 11.3 million in salary and give them cap space this year.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

No doubt. Speaking of Steve Nash – I wonder how much regret he has right now for signing that extension last offseason and not becoming a FA this offseason if the Amare to NY thing goes through.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

I am not so much trying to remain positive but more realistic – maybe that comes across as being positive b/c I do not have all these expectations of Bron or Wade or Melo or CP3 coming here. And for me the verdict on current management is still up in the air b/c honestly all I have to judge them on are their drafts so far – which for me have been less than desirable. I expect a roster over the next year of quality players with a nice rotation – but I never really expected superstars – that for me was not really realistic even if fans, bloggers, and management thought it was.

  • MrDbo

The only way this works is using Eddy Curry’s Contract. This would need to be a three team deal where the thrid team is send ing a player to SA. My Guess:

    Minnesota Gets Eddy Curry
    Spurs Get Al Jefferson
    Knicks Get Tony Parker.

I know the Twolves are trying to trade Jefferson, but I am not sure why. He had a down year last year, but he is a legit big man. He gives the Spurs size and youth. His contract isn’t all that great but the spurs should be in Win now mode as long as they have Duncan and Manu. Minnesota gets cap flexibility in 2011 or trade chip at the deadline in Curry. Knicks get their point guard. I don’t see how this doesn’t help all teams involved.

  • MrDbo

Plus using Eddies contract allow the knicks to potnetially ring in another max. Wilson Chanlder would probalbe need to go to one of the teams as well.

  • Ol Dirty 187

couldnt agree more on everything u just said…by remaining positive i meant realistic…which to me is a decent team (maybe amare, parker, and gallo as the main three ballers) and staying under the cap, meaning remaining flexible. If we come out of this offseason with those things i will be somewhat content, as i said playoffs sounds great right now…

    and next years free agency…

  • Armand27

    Im sorry…

I can find much better players to give 13mil to than Tony Parker..

I don’t even want him as the 3rd option to Bron and Amare..

    Just not worth that price.

  • brookdon

With that same offer we could get a better younger monta Ellis.

  • bart22

    Parker Miller Gallo Stat Jermaine

  • scarfacebaj19

Armand27- I’m with u, not sold on Parker, doesnt have good 3pt range, injury prone just like Amare!

Would love to try to get Collison from the hornets!

  • brookdon

If we want a third star we would just trade Wilson Chandler and Eddy Curry for Minta Ellis. It still allows us to get two max players…..

    Best Possible Scenario

    1. Monta Ellis
    2. LBJ
    3. Danilo Gallinari
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Jerome Jordan

  • SilentJay

I don’t think we can trade next year’s pick since we didn’t have our 1st rounder this year. I’m fact I’m pretty sure.
SA definitely needs younger players since Duncan doesn’t have much gas left, and they know they owe him at least one more shot at a title (even if it’s unsuccessful).
I do know that Pop’s gonna want something valuable if he’s actually willing to part ways with Parker. Lee and Wilson seems like a nice package for TP from our standpoint, can’t tell if SA sees it that way.

  • Armand27

    Parker Miller Gallo Stat Jermaine

    Thats TERRIBLE..

  • Harrison Barnes

Sup Knick Fans!!… Probably about 24 Hours to King James makes his decision… How can you not be excited about that… Think back to all the horror that occurred at the Mecca for the longest… If he chooses the Knicks, which I still think he is, NY hoops is back on the map… He brings who he wants with him, cause Jimmy D always spends it (Not wisely)… If he doesn’t, you can’t blame Donnie Walsh, he put us in the best position we could possibly be… Who knows the consolation prize, but that’s the next grade Donnie would get… Either way, it’s the first time I’ve been excited as a Knick fan in years… UNC HOOPS/ONE AND DONE AND TO THE LEAGUE- HB

  • JeffM729

Kahn is whacky, but not that whacky. Eddy Curry isn’t going to Minnesota. He wants David Lee, who was in Minnesota today talking about a contract.

  • jaknicksfan

I Would Be Very Happy With A Starting 5 Of Parker, Miller, Gallo, Amare And Whoever Else We Get. That Would Be A Good 5 And Then We Can Trade Eddy Sometime During The season

  • danisrob

Can people stop putting Jerome Jordan at starting centre in their dream fives. The guy was teh 44th pick in this years draft!
