Knicks Are Alive…More than Alive

by Myles A. Mills on July 4th, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Via Frank Isola:

“According to Knicks official, MSG prez Scott O’Neil and Glen Grunwald, VP of basketball ops, were sent to Ohio after Amar’e agreed to deal”

Via Tommy Dee:

Source tells me “definitely” Mav and “sounds like lebron” will be in NY Wednesday…

About Myles A. Mills

Myles is a sophomore at The Browning School, an all-boys private school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He's been a Knick fan as long as he can remember, and 02-03 was the last season he could remember in entirety. He hopes to one day see the Knicks in the playoffs. Myles is also fond of the Mets, and follows them vehemently, but his the bulk of his time goes to the Knicks. Myles wants to be a radio hosts on WFAN or ESPN 1050 radio, and he hopes to write for theknicksblog.com for years to come. View all posts by Myles A. Mills →

Just went from 6 to midnight…Lets not get too happy though, until we find out what for! Maybe we left our Soprano DVD in the hotel :(

  • Tommy Dees Bodyguard

hmmm…meeting the day before he makes his decision public?

  • Knicksfan42793

I wish I could take this is in as good news but in my opinion he is going to stay in Cleveland. Maybe its just me but I expect someday this week when I log on to espn.com or one of those website it will say Lebron resigns with Cleveland. Hopefully Lebron realizes though that we have waited two long years for him to become a free agent and will sign with us. But I really expect him to stay with Cleveland

  • Hydr0

Did Amar’e actually agree to the deal already?…Did I miss that one? If that’s true, it makes sense that we send our guys back to Cleveland, since we didn’t have Amar’e locked up before our original presentation…Hopefully it’s true. It would mean that we have a decent chance to get LeBron, but not a guarantee by any means…I am still hopeful though

  • mustarda

    You guys are too pessimistic.
    It will happen.

  • JeffM729

The rumored signing of Stoudemire surely strengthens and changes the Knicks’ case for bringing LBJ to NY.

But what seems to be happening is that LeBron, Wade, and Bosh are now deciding where to go either as a group, or some form of that.

  • DMAT89

Isola also said on his twitter that he has been told that the Knicks had a meeting with Lebron’s reps on saturday…so apparently theyve had two meetings…and now they may be coming to NY the day before he announces his decision? Hmm

  • WeWantBron

Read Isola’s article. he said… “The sense the Knicks get is that James will likely re-sign with the Cavs. In fact, as recently as Thursday, one Knicks source said it was “very doubtful” that James would sign with New York.

  • Armand27

Are you guys ACTUALLY READING WHAT TOMMY D JUST POSTED???

    He is coming..

    WAKE UP!

  • mustarda

I just want to see what ESPN “experts” will say about that.

  • danisrob

Would love to see LBJ and Amare here and Wade and Bosh in Miami, plus Boozer in Chicago. Would make for some great battles.

I am feeling good about our chances at getting 2 of the big four

  • bartnyk

We need a PG at all cost to put with Amare I think we need to make a serious play for Johnny Flynn hes a playmaker teams have to respect his ability to score and he will make the right pass. Flynn/Amare PNR would be deadly with or without Lebron.

    Chandler 2ndRd Pick

    for

    Flynn

If we’re gonna get into Ray felton and Steve Blake I rather bring back Duhon at the vet minimum he and Lee ran the PNR pretty well at two seasons ago..

  • Knicksball1

LeBron gets huge.. he isnt a scrub.. he’s not only in for the cash, he’s also in for the ringz..
I say we go after CP3 next off season.. picture LeBron Amare and CP3.. Thats some big shit

    NYK

  • Mucha

I have no problem with him staying in Cleveland.

I hope that he’ll sign with the Knicks – obviously – but I would really respect his decision if he stayed in Cleveland.

  • mustarda

No, I hate Chicago, I hope they end up with nothing and D Rose decides to retire.

  • feramorz

Tommy Dee never lies. This can’t be bad. Let’s just hope he’s in NY to see Knicks, not Nets.

  • Starks

well well….you guys know where you heard it first….i expect my kudos once things become official by wednesday/thursday as I have been saying since last week…

  • Hydr0

    so was Ricky Rubio LOL

  • Knicksfan42793

I wouldn’t have a problem either if he stayed in Cleveland. If he went to Chicago though or Miami or even the Nets I would have a problem lol.

  • mustarda

Who is going to laugh at the NYK now? Sad…

  • CoolGuyC

Did Amare actually agreed to come to the Knicks yet?

  • Mucha

If LeBron James has a sense of history he’ll sign with the New York Knicks or stay in Cleveland. Both are special destinations – he’ll never be a “true” legend in Miami, Newark or Chicago.

  • grahambo86

So, Maverick Carter for sure and possibly LBJ will be in NY come Wed?

TD…the word “sources” again. I thought we just read an article about “sources” being used!? lol

  • grahambo86

The word is yes. The problem is, players can’t officially sign until July 8th.

  • Mucha

    They haven’t signed yet.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

sounds to me like the knicks don’t want to comeout empty so they begged amare…..

remember donnie has to sign 1 of the stars to make the desperate fans happy

  • WeWantBron

FELLAS. LET’S NOT GET TOO EXCITED. NEED TO BE PATIENT AS TOMMY IS TRYING TO GET MORE INFO.

YOU ACT LIKE LEBRONN IS DEFINITELY COMING. IF HE DOESN’T, PEOPLE ARE GONNA HATE ON TOMMY.

    DON’T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!!!

  • SilentJay

We gotta take it slow. Celebrating now would be setting ourselves up for celebration. It’s all about waiting till a decision’s made.

  • Starks

i tell you what some of you fans are just dumb seriously….I am not even a Knicks fan but anyone who counted the Knicks out and doubted they would get Lebron hasnt been paying attention the past 2 years.

  • Armand27

TDs ” sources” were dead on on Amare so im going to trust him

    And TD is a professional.

    He wont reveal his sources.

  • metsfan2530

I think he is coming, It makes too much sense right now. The Knicks have Amare locked up. Labron knows that they have cap space to add to more max guys, One this year and one next year, Clevland has no cap space for years to come. Here is the Choice Join the Knicks win a Title And become king of the city or Stay in Clevland and get knocked out in the 2nd or Confrence Fianls every year, Oh and see Kobe Hold up a few more Trophies.

  • Knicksfan42793

I was talking to one of my co workers and we both agreed that if he won one championship with the Knicks he would be a legend or even a god in New York. If he went to Chicago he would have to win atleast 6 to be a legend and even if he did that he may still live in the shadow of Jordan just because Jordan did wont the titles first. Miami’s fan base isn’t even big and they already have Dwayne Wade. And in all honestly who wants to play in Newark for 2 years?

  • Armand27

    Seriously Starks..

    People need to wake up

Me and you know the deal

  • Armand27

    DaGawD_KnowLedge

    Do you work for ESPN?

You pay as much attention as they do.

  • bartnyk

    Ryan Hollins
    Johnny Flynn

lmao…all i know is that lebron loves the yankee’s so i guess if he had a choice he would play for the yankee’s rite..

i’m not doubting the knicks i’m just looking at it from a AGENT POINT OF VIEW.lebron’e not coming here to take the same amount of money as amare.

yall need to wake up an stop SIPPIN THAT SUPPER KOOL AID

  • dino of syracuse

That would make a lot of sense, but the Wolves have not been making any as of late.

  • JeffM729

    Come on guys…….

“sounds like LeBron” is far from a 100% sealed deal. Maybe Maverick Carter had plans to come here long ago. Let’s be patient.

ESPN is reporting on a pow-wow with Bosh, Wade, and LeBron, all figuring out how to team up to get a title winning team.

  • scarfacebaj19

Just listenig to John Rothstein- Said that after Amare agreed to come to the Knicks on Saturday, some of the Knicks official went back to Cleveland to have a meeting with Lebron! They supposedly left the meeting feeling doubtful about Lebron signing with the Knicks!
My Opinion- Lebron told the Knicks on Friday to go get another star to commit to the Knicks and then get back to me- then we can really have a serious conversation! Got Amare- now things are serious!

  • jaknicksfan

thats great news, i hope it means hes gonna sign with the knicks him and amare would be great together, in that case even a pg like ridnour would be great hes a heady player and can hit the open j, him ant toney would be good as points.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

o yea an he wears a yankee cap is that a sign he’s coming to n.y..lmao…

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i guess every player that says they love the garden will sign with the knicks…………..

  • WeWantBron

Let’s not ignore this… Knicks supposedly left the 2nd meeting w/Lebron feeling doubtful about him signing with the Knicks!

  • ben5151

Hopefully LeBron has been keeping tabs on Amare. Amare goes to Broadway show…Amare hams it up at the Yankee game…Amare does a whole bunch of things that would be no fun in Cleveland…

  • islandknick

I am encouraged. It just makes sense for LBJ to come. He would create his own legacy on the world’s greatest stage. He will have the commitment to have himself surrounded with the best talent money can buy. New York baby.

  • js80204

Can we just wait to see where he signs honestly… Everybody got sources coming out the A**hole saying a million different things. If we get him then we got him if not we move from there plain and simple.. You got fans creaming there pants and bugging out before u know anything relax and lets see wat happens..

  • Armand27

    John Rothstein

    Is an idiot..

He has been always against us getting Bron..

    Why would it change now?

  • grahambo86

According to TD, MSG Prez on the way to Ohio now. Why that guy though?

  • Armand27

So all of a sudden Bron announces that he wont announce til after the Camp?

Read the writing on the wall and stop listening to ESPN Idiots.

    He is coming.

  • Armand27

I was calling ESPN idiots not any of you guys..

Just wanted to make that clear..

I think he meant Maverick Carter and LeBron will be in NY on Wednesday.

  • WeWantBron

Brian Windhorst of Cleveland Plain Dealer coming up on espnNY radio in a few minutes. Have a listen!

  • thefloodwatch

Basketball is about Winning but it’s also about Business – Knicks broke down becoming a Billionaire for a reason – only other Athlete to do it was Tiger Woods – hell not even Jordan became a Billionaire – NY is a Tourist Dream
Lebron NY Jerseys will skyrocket surpass Yao and Kobe Jerseys
    -
he’ll get the Key to the City in no time and which City you rather have the Key to??

Lebron is connected in the Hip Hop World what better City to stay in the Loop then NY
Knicks has always been the Butt of Jokes
now imagine when you take a band of Nobodies to the Promise Land
Knickerbockers are 35 + years since winning a Championship
and Lebron knows the Garden Fans respects Winning more than Money
so he can have his Cake and eat it too in NY –
he can really become King James in NYC
and think like this – a player who loves to win but cant find it at his previous home needs a change of Address just for Clarity
    -
Knicks know what they’re doing – out the Gate they Secured Amare not out of Desperation but out of Strategy knowing someone would wanna join Bosh or Stoudamire… now since Bosh got Greedy
Lebron and Wade heads just turned to NYC
but question is now competition cause if Wade and Bosh go to Chicago or Miami – that leaves Lebron in Cleveland knowing he doesnt have the firepower to get pass them in the playoffs but if Lebron goes to NY with Stoudamire and knowing next Season CP3 , Parker and Melo is up for Grabs that means he’ll have all the help he can get and even though NJ Nets are in rebuilding phase as well – why run with a Team with no Market and half of their Fans are Knicks Fans anyway makes no sense
come to the Mecca of Basketball and become a Legend

    - and a hint is why would they call the Knicks back for a 2nd meeting after Amare verbally commited but this time with the Garden prez and VP of operations – that means a deal is in works and Knick Fans might get some good news come Thursday

    LETS GO KNICKS

there u have it he’s coming he’s been wearing yankee hats for a while now always saying he loves the garden, those were all signs,it was written,

  • AlbanyKnick

Thanks, guys. Makes sense after you explained that. Before, I couldn’t figure out what could be gleaned from that comment.

  • marky3320

Wow, Brian Windhorst is crapping on the Knicks presentation, saying they were just ahead of the Clippers. He’s really hating on the Knicks because LeBron is really close to coming to NY.

  • Mucha

Yes it is very touching but he’s probably wondering “I love you too but can I win a championship in Cleveland?”

  • Mucha

LeBron James asked them to come back with something better.

  • brookdon

    Interesting..,

    ESPN hasn’t reported this yet.

Last week were out of the chase.
We now have an agreement with Amare.

The nets supposedly had a better meeting with him.
    We got a second chance.

Even with Amare we had no chance.
    We met with him today.

    ????

  • ben5151

He is VERY defensive. Why isn’t he being asked where he heard this about the Knicks presentation?

  • Armand27

  • scarfacebaj19

I believe Rothstein was reporting what Isola Told him! But he did say these new meetings change things! Seems like the Knicks are alive! He was writing them off the last couple of days!

  • marky3320

If all this turns out positive in the end, I say the Knicks should change their uniforms and logo back to old look in the late 80′s and early 90′s…totally distance themselves from the disaster of the past 10 years.

  • brookdon

Or it could be a huge sell by ESPN. Remember hoe big ESPN played up the Georgia bulldogs as cinderellas a few years ago in the college baseball tournament. ESPN would then write how the Cinderella knicks came out of nowhere to sign LBJ.

  • dino2008

LOL lebron is sooo intrigued by the bulls roster my butt.

amare is better than anyone on the cavs roster hands down. plus the knicks players fit better than the bulls players by far. Gallo is the perfect compliment for Lebron.

    THE BULLS HAVE NOOOOO SHOOOOTERS.

if lebron stays in clevland fine, but if he leaves for anywhere else besides ny ill be pissed.

    -Noah

  • brookdon

He said that the Knicks were out of it…. Only Cle and CHI

  • grahambo86

Well, IMO, of course it is. He is a matter of days away from announcing his decision so of course they will do a last ditch effort.

Nobody else got a 2nd meeting yet we did. They could have said no but they didn’t. Carter and his agent were there and I’m sure they weren’t talking about the weather.

  • grahambo86

So what was the point of the 2nd meeting? Im confused. You give a 2nd meeting because you are interested, at least that’s what I thought.

  • jaknicksfan

Lebron, Gallo And Amare sounds much better, you have a big man, a slasher who passes and boards and a deadly 3 point shooter to keep the defenses off of amare down low plus gives a kickout to lebron

The Chicago Bulls will have enough capspace to sign a 2nd tier FA like Carlos Boozer or David Lee. Your comparison isn’t fair.

    LeBron James
    Amare Stoudemire
    Danilo Gallinari
    Wilson Chandler
    Toney Douglas
    + Trade asset Eddy Curry

    Or

    LeBron James
    Carlos Boozer/David Lee
    Derrick Rose
    Joakim Noah
    Taj Gibson
    James Johnson

  • bb_dot

it’s kind of funny how the Knicks have always been portrayed as longshots behind Cleve, Miami, Chi and even the Nets in landing LeBron. And that there hasnt been (until now apparently) any encouraging sign coming from LeBron’s camp that he is even considering the Knicks seriously. Maybe, this is all part of Brons strategy to maintain his integrity. if he would have pushed for NY right away, people would have said that he doesnt care about winning and that he is only interested in the limelights, etc. But like this, he can claim in the end that NY was not really on his list until Amare and until he had all the facts on the table, etc. It would appear to be a more business like approach rather than a flight from his hometown/state to the universally hated Knicks… I just cannot imagine that LeBron didnt want to come here with all he has been saying over the last two years, wearing Yankee hats, CC, all his buddies in NY, Madison Garden history, etc.

  • JaymanJD

  • boogie down

Totally agree, that’s a great idea. That dark blue with the number above “NEW YORK” and the interlocked NY on the shorts was an awesome look.

  • dino2008

if lebron is all about winning he should come to the knicks.

Amare and Galo and perfect compliments for Lebron.

Amare and Lebron run the pick and roll and Gallo knocks down them threes.

derrick rose a phenomenal player is not a good fit with lebron… we all know that.

the bulls cannot sign another max fa and they have nothing that toronto wants in a sign and trade for bosh besides noah, who they wont trad.

    my key point:

IF BOSH AND WADE SIGN WITH MIAMI, WHICH WILL HAPPE…. LEBRON HAS TO BE THINKING DAMN I HAVE NO CHANCE TO WIN IN CLEVLAND…. and new york offers him the best chance to beat miami… it isnt even close.

  • jingo

I’m not allowing myself to believe that Lebron will be a Knick until he is a Knick. I never believed we could be out of it (unless it was Cleveland all the way) but I think it’s best for all of our sakes to just wait and see. I think having Amare on board will lead to at least one good trade and another solid FA pickup. Lebron would be gravy. Delicious gravy.

    I think

why is the Knicks the only Team still meeting with LBJ reps on July 4th??
LBJ is supposedly done just to think about it after Nike camp

Btw, just wait for the negative spin to come out, as league execs (aka, Riley) and others start talking crap about the Knicks. Knicks fans, don’t be deterred.

i do think the knicks got a shot but the shot is something like gallo consistency..

We don’t need ESPN to now jump on the bandwagon.

    Cleveland or NY

Truly could be Christmas in July !!!!

  • Knicksfan42793

I want to believe Tommy on this one but isn’t it just a bit weird that no other sports outlets are reporting that MSG president is on their way now to Cleveland. Even Isola stopped tweeting after saying Lebron didn’t attend the second meeting.

  • Armand27

    JaymanJD JUL 04, 2010, 7:01 PM AT 7:01 PM #
lets not go crazy the knicks were simply granted a second meeting just like chicago. the meeting was short remindinding them that they have amare in the bag

This meeting went terrible, the Knicks are out of it Blah Blah..

    And DaGwD…

Gallo is one of the bet Shooters in the league..

So thats a damn good shot

  • Rome1988

They will probably spin it to say is was a desperation move and will show how the Knicks summer is Lebron or bust. And how we forced him to have this meeting. You know something childish…something Disneyish… Or they might not report it at all like you barely hear about Amare to NY. Anyways hope all goes well.

  • dannyl

tommy dee just tweeted “It’s looking VERY good for the knicks in terms of LBJ”….well, geez, i’m excited

  • islandknick

    Js 80204,

No creamin out there pants dude. Fans just tryin to remain optimistic. If LBJ doesn’t come, life will go on. Espn and world aginst us so, lets have fun with it. So if you have a problem, sty off the sight damn jerk.

  • Armand27

No one but Tommy Had Amare coming.

    TDs sources have been right.

Gotta take into consideration today is a holiday. That may be why we’re not hearing that much about this. Yahoo Sports did report it though.

Jinog and to the rest of you Knick fans, believe it! Trust me on this I have been adament that NYC is where LeBron has been wanting to play for at least the last 2 years and the Knicks going out of their way to get two studs LBJ one of them and another next off season along with a decent young core in Gallo, Chandler and TD, everyone and their mommy knew that LBJ was heading to NYC….

BTW once LeBron signs dont be surpirsed Shaq following him for the vet minimum…..

    LOL

  • Mucha

I think Derrick Rose can play with LeBron James. But they need a quality jumpshooter who’s good enough (overall) to play more than 25 minutes per game – and I don’t know how they’ll find a way to get one. And they will have enough capspace to sign a 2nd tier-free agent like David Lee.

    It IS close dino…

  • js80204

Man we need Isiah Thomas back man he wouldve sealed the deal wit lebron and his whole entourage… He wouldve brought the whole knicks cheerleadering squad and made them an offer they couldnt refuse haha

guys come back if your reading…

  • SilentJay

Lol. C’mon, Mucha, you know why all those happened. It’s been a frustrating 2 years. Let’s just hope that after this offseason, we discuss about more positive topics, but in the end you either like or dislike the coach’s style.
The great thing about knowleadgable Knick fans (and in this site’s case, most are), is that every discussion is always smart, quick and in depth.

  • js80204

he wouldve put us 101.6 mil over the cap isiah is the worst GM but pretty good talent evaluator

  • clyde fan

IMO no one can blame the Knicks or DW if LBJ doesn’t sign.

The are doing everything that they can do to seal the deal.

If he comes to NY for a visit-he will sign to be a Knick.

  • PickNY

    To Liar Liar:

It is written that all LIARS go to hell! To a guy that have know knowledge of the True WORD! You better read it for yourself! You’ve been told!

    “it’s never a liars fault”

  • SilentJay

I think it’s mostly because the discussion’s been always the same: “who’s coming and who’s not?”. Once camp’s under way and we start seeing news about the team that was put together we’ll have great discussions about the team -not what it’s lacking like it has been the last month or so-, or about how the coach plans to run his system with his new players.

  • SilentJay

If, by any reason, LBJ opts to come here, it’ll be the biggest demonstration of crappy sports coverage/sensationalism that I’ve ever seen in my life as a journalist.
But like you said, it all comes down to knowing when ink and paper are one.

  • feramorz

Nice to see Tommy Dee be cited on Real GM.

If I’m the Knicks, I sell Maverick Carter on all NYC can offer him, in addition to LeBron. Everyone has reported that Carter fears NYC. If I’m the Knicks, I convince him he can thrive in NYC, and the Knicks can help.

Obviously, basketball is number 1, and convincing LeBron is the most important thing. But working with Carter would also be smart.

  • SilentJay

Wade sat down twice the Chicago and there’s still uncertainty of his final decisions.
When it comes to these scenarios, one or three meetings don’t reflect anything.
But being the optimist that I am, let’s hope that it’s a sign of a positive outcome.
Who knows if James will sit down again with NJ or Chicago before wednesday.

  • js80204

I don’t wanna sound like a mean guy but don’t u just feel like yelling F*CKKKK MAVERICK CARTER!!!! sometimes??? Seriously who is this guy really…

  • SilentJay

That’s how journalists work. At least there’s been enough proof that even after they get a whiff of something they’ll put it out there to keep the drama up.

  • Rome1988

Its not his fault a really good player got injured and another one wanted to raise donuts in his mouth rather than raise to the allstar caliber player he can become.

  • emac2

If Phoenix is going to rebuild they might as well trade Nash.

Nash and Amare for Lee, Curry, Money and a pick or two?

    Nash, Bron, Gallinari, Chandler, Amare

  • SilentJay

You can sell the world to James’ entourage, but his decision is the one that matters, and if his little group is really made up of people that care about him, they’ll have no choice but to respect that decision.
I don’t see LBJ as the type of guy who’ll have his mind made up by his groupies.

I’m praying it’s true, but I won’t believe It until LBJ says it. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring, the bulls might be making another visit as well. I do think it looks promising that he is waiting until after his camp is over in Akron. If he says no, than I think we have to sign Mike Miller (regardless to be honest) and than try a sign and trade with Lee for Tony Parker. I’m not a big Monte Ellis fan, but let’s see what happens.

  • Starks

I just read on RealGM that the Cavs video featuring a cartoon of Family Guy where they made fun of the Knicks with James Colan and Denny Welsh..lol….desperate times calls for desperate measures I guess…you notice who the real professional franchise is within all these meetings…you have the sorry ass Nets with their billboard and putting fals information out there that the Knicks presentation was lacking and that Lebron waasnt impressed and now you have the Cavs…lol…meanwhile the Knicks just go about their own business and will lock down and sign LBJ come Wednesday/Thursday….

  • BiggieSmalls

the plan is definitely coming together here.

  • Mucha

    I hope so.

  • Starks

just for the record Iv been saying this since last week….LBJ to the Knicks and Amare as well come middle of this coming week…..so you guys better send me some kudos for keeping it real in this place when all the rest of you fans were believing all the BS that was being sent out on a daily basis by the media…BTW just for the record I am not a fan of the Knicks or a fan of any team to be honest…I just know what the deal is. Enjoy Knick fans.

  • Mucha

I’m just saying that the number of comments dropped because there’s no back-and-forth MD debates with x-man etcetera. I’m not a Mike D’Antoni fan either – even though i don’t hate him

  • thefloodwatch

did anyone see D Wades NY comment..they put me with another player i’ll get them a ring ..Lebron heard that and even though they’re friends why would you let D Wade get all the NY Glory ??? so is thats why Lebron is in play ?
also if we get Lebron and somehow S&T David Lee to Golden State for Monte Ellis
This will be an incredible lineup

    Ellis
    Chandler
    James
    Gallo
    Stoudemire

    = 110 pts a game avg

  • Starks

Floodwatch, I hate to be the one with the pin aiming straight for your balloon but David Lee from what I know will only help the Knicks as a LAST RESORT AND IF IT MEANS MORE MONEY FOR HIM…

Plus David Lee doesnt want anything to do with Golden State…Toronto on the other hand I heard is a possibility BUT again very slim chance of happening.

Knick fans your starting lineup will be
Shaq, Amare, Gallo, LBJ, Douglas or Ridnour…enjoy.

  • Starks

then come next off season a real possibility is Melo because he like LBJ wants desperately to play for the Knicks…we shall see…

If we had Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas/LaMarcus Aldridge the Knicks would probably not be in this position. Donnie Walsh cleared capspace because he didn’t have enough young players/draft picks to build around them/to make some trades.

Walsh is smart, he woulda figured out a way to free up cap space to be in the LeBron race. Point is, Isiah ruined the Knicks. Donnie is doing his best to undo the mess. Sadly he still has one thing tied to Isiah’s regime, Curry’s contract.

Cavs spent $300,000 on that stupid cartoon – I would ask Bron this – hey Bron – Cleveland and Ohio have been hit hard lately given the economic climate – wouldn’t that 300,000 have been better spent by your former organization on the community and helping people get a job – if the Cavs try to portray themselves as helping the community – they are just like any other private corp – they, Dan Gilbert, care about the value of their franchise. If Bron is about community and giving back – this $300,00 expenditure on some stupid cartoon should revolt him thinking about it.

If it weren’t for Isiah, Donnie would not be here…Donnie wanted to tackle the toughest challenge an NBA GM and/or President could conceivably tackle. Scott Layden and Isiah created that challenge with some dumbfounding moves. And Donnie has done an admirable job of tacking that challenge, no matter what happens.

  • Fordham Ram

@DaGawD_KnowLedge That is the best line I’ve heard on here. WoW. My thoughts exactly.

  • blackwood

When are you donnie zombies going to stop crying about Isiah!?! Do you realize what the roster was when Isiah got here!?! Do you know how far over the cap we where when he got here? Do you know the owner was demanding a win now team the sec he got here? That he did not have the option to blow up the team? That I did not hear anyone bitch and moan when the trade for Marbury happened?

Do you realize if Mr.Magoo would have not been on his Alzheimer meds during the last 3 drafts we would have a much better team? Lopez,Jennings or even Collison who we are begging to trade for now!?! Do you know every person Mr.Magoo traded who had so called unmovable contracts where turned around and traded again? do you know all those players all expired in 2011.

Do you know you sound like one of those Obama luntics who blame everything on Bush because the all might Obama is infallible. The downfall of the Knicks did not start with Isiah, we where good and dead long before that! What I know is while he may not be perfect by any means he drafted the best players on the team in Lee and Chandler, he set up all those contracts to finish in the same year and all Mr.Magoo did was move up the end of those contracts a year. I wonder if the hate & borderline racist animosity towards Isiah would turn in to praise if the EC contract is turned in to a Melo or a CPR or a great future piece or if he just comes off the books next year allowing us to move forward! Get off the Isiah sack and focus on what Mr.Magoo does or gets done or does NOT get done!! Revisionist history is corny!

Layden destroyed the Knicks!! Isiah did what he could mistakes and all but left a much better team in place then what he found weather they where successful or not does not make that any less true. So get off the blame the black GM crap because while people drop Layden’s name the venom and hate is never there for him!!

  • Fordham Ram

Tommie Dee has just been looking at the facts all along, not allowing all this gibberish sway him. One thing of note Amare is playoff tested which also has to be very appealing to Lebron. Whereas Bosh hasn’t any big playoff moments in career. Trust me Knick fans, you will bugging of some of da shit Amare will do this season. And we will love him because he is nasty. Powerful.

  • KnicksKnack

  • WeWantBron

Isiah’s incompetence as a GM has nothing to do with the color of his skin.
He more than made mistakes as the GM, he was a CANCER to this franchise, plain and simple.
The reason why he’s coaching a low level college team and not working in the NBA is not because of his race, but his head.

    (1) Isiah traded for Eddy Curry. Mr. Curry refused genetic testing from the Bulls and Isiah gave him uninsured deal worth $60 million over 6 years (guaranteed). The Bulls were willing to give him $400,000 for 50 years if he failed and he said no! And Isiah did not care. He gave up multiple future lottery picks in the deal and gave Curry ridiculous money. At the time, Curry’s career averages were 11.8 ppg and 4.9 rpg in 23.1 mpg.

    (2) Isiah gave up any flexibility in the world for Starbury. Let me quote Colangelo:

Suns Chairman and CEO Jerry Colangelo said. “It not only relieves us of a significant financial liability, but also gives us a tremendous opportunity to compete in the free agency market. In the short term we were handcuffed with no place to go. The big part of this transaction is the acquisition of two first-round draft picks and the excitement about having two first-round draft picks this year.”

In other words: “Thank you Isiah for saving our franchise and taking on a ridiculous financial burden” I.E. “On behalf of the Phoenix Suns and the rest of the NBA, thank you for letting us take advantage of you!”

    (3) Sexual Harassment suit made the Knicks the laughingstock of the NBA. And it made the franchise look pathetic.

Yes, Scott Layden was a bad GM who gave out some bad contracts and made some poor trades. But it was Isiah that made the Knicks a laughingstock. GM’s were taking advantage of Isiah’s shortcomings left and right.

Donnie Walsh brought credibility back to the Knicks organization.

  • Mucha

Layden and Thomas were both horrible.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    set to give agreement..

  • snadler

Anyone see the latest tweet by our favorite Cavs insider that says the knicks meeting tonight with Lebron is to tell him Amare is in, new pitch but despite all of this Multiple sources tell him knicks still behind Clev, Chicago, and NJ..yeah now that makes perfect sense..Knicks drop everything have a third meeting with Lebron just for LBJ to tell them your #4 on my list of teams..don’t you think meetings have to be agreed upon by both parties..if LBJ is seriously not that interested just tell the knicks to move on..

  • jingo

If it’s just Amare then you are probably right. But I think Amare is the first in a series of moves. They seem intent on bringing in a shooter. And I’m sure they intend to use Lee’s contract to add either a PG or a big man.

  • JeffM729

The dealing of Jordan Hill and multiple firsts for Tracy McGrady and the willingness to guarantee all 5 years of Stoudemire’s contract has the same potential to replicate the mistakes of Isiah.

You have to take risks and Isiah lost on his gambles. Donnie has gambled on Stoudemire’s knees for 5 years and getting room for a 2nd max free agent at the price of Jordan Hill and two possible lottery picks.

This business requires risks. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Take if for what it is worth – Cavs guy just tweeted that no third meeting b/w Bron’s team and Knicks tonight – but he relies on ESPN for his source:

“ESPN is reporting no Knicks meeting with LeBron tonight. Wild times in the NBA right now, that’s all I can say.”

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

my SOURCES are tellin me if LEBRON comes to nyc he will bring another STAR player that will take a super discount.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Per Hahn and right from Donnie himself:

“Donnie Walsh says reports of meeting tonight between Knicks and LeBron in CLE is “misinformation” and says no meeting.”

  • snadler

Actually from Alan Hahn, Walsh himself says no meeting tonight..http://twitter.com/alanhahn

  • ben5151

And Hahn just reported Donnie Walsh called that “misinformation.” It was probably just a series of inferences drawn from New York representatives in Ohio. Maybe they are just there to pounce when needed. Or maybe there is another secret meeting in the next few days before Wednesday.

  • JeffM729

Saw a blurb tnat Golden State has no interest in Al Jefferson, due to his style and knee issues. They are interested in David Lee and would have to S&T Ellis or Biedrens, plus possibly Randolph to make it work.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Well at least Amar’e had a good day so far:

“RT @Amareisreal: The Yankee Game was great. Now on the way 2 the Hampton’s. Happy 4th. Today is my Grandfather B-Day,12 years in the Arm”

Nice walk-off win by the Yanks!

  • flknickfan

So Donnie is denying tonight not yesterday. Good enough for me to still have major hope.

  • SilentJay

Your point only takes strength if you place it under the course of action DW chose to take.
Nevertheless, as good as Walsh has been at clearing cap, he was unable to do the one thing that was most needed for this team: expad its young core. We all knew this coach needs a great PG for his system to work properly, and DW has failed to deliver, and the last chance he had to that was the draft and we all know how that went down.
Walsh set himself up in a situation where it’s “risk or die”.
All the draft picks he mortgaged, all the roster scrambling that was made to get flexibility, the giving away a lottery pick to shed Jeffries, etc. All was the chance to make an offer that might get rejected.
so yeah, he did a great job capwise, but like you said, there’s a lot of risks in what he’s doing. Should he had made a couple of decisions here and there in a different way and maybe those risks wouldn’t be there.
I’m not, by any means, criticizing his work, like I said, he delivered capwise, but the road could’ve been less bumpy for him imo.

  • JRB1282

Maverick Carter, LeBron James’ business partner, will be flying to New York on Wednesday to meet with the Knicks, according to sources that spoke with Tommy Dee of The Knicks Blog.

is that true? maverick carter is coming in on Wed?

walsh could be denying. so nobody know what happen.

  • LJ-4pointer99

so no meeting with mav carter on wed. right?

  • SilentJay

As “sure” as Amare seems to the Knicks, there still are reports that he’s scheduled to meet with more teams later on next week, so you never know. I personally think they’re all on standby for James’ decision. He’s the dominoe that has to fall. Once he decides, the rest will fall, not the other way around.
Players like Miller or Felton can be found in the letter Q of Walsh’s plan.
As for other players, think about it, it’s D’antoni, of course he wants shooters, it’s not like our roster’s filled with them. Gallo, and maybe Walker showed that ability last season.

  • feramorz

James Taylor?!?!?! Tommy, we need you. What’s the latest? How do you respond to Donnie’s denial?

  • TG

Yep. Signing Amare at max is the same kind of thing…high risk/medium reward.

  • SilentJay

You gotta let it go. Just wait till James tells everyone where he’s going. Celebrating or anything else until then will just drive everyone crazy.
Whatever happens, the roster will have new faces and hopefully the team will be able to fight for the playoffs. If not, Walsh will have to face the consequences of his failure.

  • SilentJay

There’s even been reports about the Raptors willing to take Lee for, after they said they didn’t want to do any favors for him. Reports are all over the place.
All those moves will be confirmed or denied once LBJ moves and Walsh signs whoever big FA he’s looking for. Once James moves, everybody else will.

  • http://na moose22

Key word….”tonight”…btw, if any of the other teams in the mix had a second and possibly third meeting with LBJ, espn would have him signed, sealed, delivered!!! Lol

  • Hydr0

I just heard from my sources that LeBron is secretly forcing a trade to Sacramento because he likes the uniforms

  • LJ-4pointer99

then it shouldn’t be on the blog. knick fans shouldn’t be blamed for feeling good about the lbj situation when they read that mav carter and maybe lbj are going to ny on wed

I still think that James’ decision won’t be affected in a dramatic way by his entourage. Will it be important for him? Sure, there his friends and advisors, will they change his mind and drive him from Chicago to Cleveland or NY to Cleveland?
I really doubt it. LBJ’s decision is his own, if they’re really his friend they’ll respect it.
Do I wish it was NY? Hell, yeah, but by now I know better than to believe every report that’s out there.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    Where was this refuted?

  • snadler

This doesn’t sound promising coming from Donnie himself:

“You could put it off until next year, but it’s tough to do, especially with the direction we’ve been going,” Walsh said. “But you can do it. At the very least, you have to start building into place some of the supporting cast now. If we can’t get the stars this summer, we’re at least going to put some players into place that will complement.”

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Chad Ford was able to get in touch with Donnie Walsh – gives us some nuggets but no real information:

Walsh did confirm that the Knicks’ sent assistant GM Glen Grunwald to Cleveland for a second meeting with LeBron’s agent, Leon Rose, on Saturday. But he said the meeting was just to clarify the team’s cap situation both this year and the next.

“We didn’t get into it in our first meeting the way we wanted to,” Walsh said. “We just wanted to make sure they had all the information.”

Walsh, however, denied a report by The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, that the Knicks were meeting again with James on Sunday night.

“We don’t have any other meetings scheduled with LeBron,” Walsh said. “I’m in New York. Unless someone is there without my knowledge, no, we’re done.”

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    Walsh via Ford on Amar’e:

Walsh also said reports of a deal with Stoudemire are premature.

“He spent the weekend in N.Y. with his agent,” Walsh said. “He went to some baseball games. [Coach] Mike [D'Antoni] met with him today to talk basketball and some personal issue this morning. We’re meeting with him tomorrow. We haven’t sat down and talked contract [with] him at all.”

  • BrooklynsFinest1

The biggest concern is that for over 2 yrs most Knick fans’ dream was to get that centerpeice who is Lebron James and pair him with Bosh. Now reality sets in and Bosh as most of the Knick fans who been aware doesn’t want any part of ny. He wants to be with his dear friend D Wade. Lebron may say I wanna be a Knick and set the NBA on its head or go elsewhere or just stay in Cleveland. Yes it would be a big let down but if we get Amare and somehow get CP3 or Melo in a trade then we would be legit title contenders. So we still come out on top. But we again have to wait until the 8th when fa can sign deals. Let’s cross our fingers on that. Btw if Lebron doesn’t come he will be destroyed by the ny media and fans so best believe he won’t be cheered anymore if he’s not a knick.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Donnie via Chad Ford on what if no big name star comes this offseason:

Walsh said the team is already exploring other free agent plans should LeBron, Wade and/or Bosh say no to the Knicks, saying the team had a plan “B, C, D, E and F.”

He also addressed the idea that if the Knicks strike out in free agency with the top three of James, Wade and Bosh, that they might just save their money for next year.

So it appears that based on Donnie Walsh’s representations tonight – not much has changed.

The Knicks went to Bron’s team on Saturday to do the following (via Ford):

Walsh did confirm that the Knicks’ sent assistant GM Glen Grunwald to Cleveland for a second meeting with LeBron’s agent, Leon Rose, on Saturday. But he said the meeting was just to clarify the team’s cap situation both this year and the next.

“We didn’t get into it in our first meeting the way we wanted to,” Walsh said. “We just wanted to make sure they had all the information.”

  • ben5151

Risks are one thing. Isiah made horrible business decisions by taking on those contracts and giving up picks at the same time. Donnie gave up picks to GAIN flexibility. Isiah gave up picks and simultaneously hamstrung himself and the organization for half a decade. Think about the other teams in those transactions. They were able to gain flexibility AND get draft picks! Watching Donnie gain flexibility in the past few years has shown me exactly how horrid Isiah was. He allowed teams to gain flexibility and draft picks while giving us, e.g., a $20 million point guard who has never won. Isiah’s moves were so counterintuitive it was shocking.

And Donnie did not trade multiple picks. He traded Jordan Hill (who is the second coming of Chris Wilcox) and the right to swap picks (on the correct assumption that the Knicks’ pick will not be that bad) and a bad contract in Jeffries for…flexibility.

Isiah had zero foresight and made nonsensical moves with neither direction nor basketball sense. Yes, the position the Knicks were in in 2008 was 100% Isiah’s fault. And it was not a matter of risk. It was a matter of making horrid business decisions.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Agreed – if Bron does not become a Knick – his visits to the Garden will be a nightmare for him. While Maverick Carter has implied that going to the Garden once a year is a thrill but 41 times a season may be too much – he may wish for his main guy in the entourage that they did come to the Knicks b/c there will not be the same fan fare if he goes to Chicago or NJ (staying in Cleveland – I do not see the wrath coming out as much – he would be staying w/ his original team and reject all outside suitors – not just the Knicks).

Right…2:30 hr meeting and the Knicks never discussed cap space…this is starting to become very interesting.

  • Rome1988

That would be unfair for the Nba. Lebron with no superstar/qualified allstars = 60 wins….imagine with another star???let alone 2!

  • JeffM729

  • Rome1988

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Can only go with what Donnie said – Knicks appear to have gone back out on Saturday b/c they were either not happy with the way they presented the cap situation for this offseason and possibilities for next offseason OR it was talk about the new cap situation with the potentiality of Amar’e coming on board. One way or another – Donnie was not satisfied with the initial presentation being left with the way it was.

  • HawthorneWingo43

Actually, it was probably worse having them hit us back-to-back. Always take the “concurrent sentence” vs. the “consecutive sentences.”

  • flknickfan

I am so sick of this already; just say where you are going to go and be done with it so we can try and build a team.

Would you trade Eddy Curry’s contract (and player of course) along with 2nd round pick for Rip Hamilton or just sign T-mac for vet minimum? Or sign Mike Miller at 20million for 4 years?

  • Armand27

Walsh is playing it real cool like he should..

Why should tell all these Yahoo’s what he is doing.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Yeah – never really 100% believed the ESPN conspiracy thing. Makes Knicks’ fans look a little bad by blaming it on some media conspiracy that our team is not discussed as in the lead w/ Cleveland and Chicago. I guess people need someone or something to blame when they are not hearing good news – especially when so much is at stake for the Knicks franchise and the people who cover the Knicks and most of all – the fans.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

For what it is worth – via sprungonsports:

-The Knicks don’t have any other meetings scheduled with LeBron James. Sources say the Knicks are still behind other teams for James.
-Dwayne Wade’s family has him thinking Chicago.

  • Rome1988

This is just the opening act. Things are going to get crazier tomorrow – and I cannot imagine what it will be like Wednesday night and then Thursday morning to midday. Misinformation being floated around by everyone is only going to be kicked into higher gear beginning tomorrow till Thursday. Hold on.

  • jlefev1

Wait so is this post saying that Lebron is coming to NY on wednesday to meet with the Knicks and most likely closing a deal… Amare and Lebron to ny ?

  • Rome1988

You mean his ex-wife he cheated on that lives in Chicago?

  • Rome1988

Why else would they come to NY when every team had to fly to Ohio to see him. If anything wouldn’t the Knicks have the edge because they made Lebron come to us? I mean clarifying cap space in 2nd meeting Lol My sources say …nvm lets just wait and see.

No ink on paper no Lebron…or Amare….just yet.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Dude – the Knicks had to send people back out on Saturday morning b/c in the words of Donnie Walsh he was not happy with the way the cap situation was relayed. And I quote:

But he said the meeting was just to clarify the team’s cap situation both this year and the next.

“We didn’t get into it in our first meeting the way we wanted to,” Walsh said. “We just wanted to make sure they had all the information.”

So yeah – the whole bad presentation thing – while maybe exaggerated – idk – but Donnie’s own words led credence to the initial presentation had some problems with it that they felt needed to be clarified.

This whole thing about the media out to get the Knicks is starting to reek of paranoia or just hurt feelings that Bron may not be coming. This is becoming very, very personal. And I guess it should – too much is at stake not only for the fans but for the people who cover the Knicks – having Bron on the Knicks is a once in a lifetime opportunity for guys that cover the Knicks or people who run blogs like the TKB – to cover a generational sports icon on a daily basis – not many can say they have that opportunity.

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

    reveal the source

  • Armand27

Lebron does not want anything out before the camp ends.

So even if he is meeting with the Knicks tonight, neither he or Donnie will say anything

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Probably his kids when they say family

  • jlefev1

Im just confused by Tommy Dee’s quote…. Is he telling us that Lebron is coming to ny wednesday ? I feel like if thats true that is a HUGE deal

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

But thing is Donnie did say something – if there was a meeting tonight – he would issue a no comment from his office. What we can surmise is that there was no meeting TONIGHT b/w authorized Knicks personnel and Bron or his team. That is all we really know.

  • KnickKam

Yeah it’ll really be amazing when we have enough cap space to sit down with Lebron and other FA’s due to Isiah!

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

the way I read it is that Mav Carter is coming to NY on Wed and that Bron may come as well. Now someone earlier was questioning this and I asked whether this statement by Tommy has been refuted – I never got a response back.

  • TG

    His mom too.

  • Armand27

no comment would be a YES

  • philpsu

Just remember, it takes two tango — LBJ’s people had to accept the second meeting. If they were unimpressed and felt the Knicks were unprepared with the first meeting, then why would they waste the Fourth of July for a meeting solely on cap space? Donnie is playing it cool because he can’t come out and say “Yea, we are working on the final touches for a deal.” This meeting was more than just cap space.

  • philpsu

    “two to tango”…my bad

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

No comment would be that – no comment. Donnie is not going to LIE about a meeting taking place tonight. Man has too much integrity. The Knicks would just blow off the question and remain silent if they were meeting w/ Bron. Plus – if they were meeting w/ Bron and and Bron said do not let this get out – there is no way the Knicks would let this leak if they thought it would jeopardize their chances.

  • Armand27

Ill wait for Tommy to update us tomorrow, im shutting it down for the night

    The big ESPN news from JA Adande tonight;

Knicks 2nd meeting Saturday was about Amare and the cap implications

The Big Three are going to talk and see where they might be able to go as a group.

The biggest news surprise tomorrow would be if there actually is news to report.

Text from a Knick player that tomorrow will be interesting.

Amare D’Antoni meeting went well and that the 2010 Amare is better than the one Mike coached in Phoenix

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Good stuff – thanks for the update/recap.

  • KnickKam

yeah what a bad presentation they must have had. they had to go in twice to make up for it. Not at all to mention that They just got AMARE on board. No signicance pleeeeez!

  • TG

    dMatriarch.

  • brookdon

    Agreed.

If the Knicks are so far out of it what would be the point of a meeting. His group would just deny it and spend their July 4th doing something special.

I hope the reports that Mav is coming to NY on Wed are true.

  • brookdon

Wait a second aren’t you usually anti knicks Jeff lol?

I think Amare will officially agree on a deal tmrw.

  • brookdon

    Who are “the big three”

  • brookdon

    Oh yeah duh

Wade Bosh Lebron will never play together….. Bosh wants his money.

    Wade Bosh to Miami

    So it’s between

    LBJ with Amre to Knicks
    LBJ to CLE
    LBJ with Boozer/Lee Cle
    LBJ with Boozer/Lee to NJ

  • Mucha

    I don’t think it’s a conspiracy.

    I think it’s stupidity.

  • JeffM729

    LeBron, Wade, Bosh Big Three

Miami could pay them 15 million each, no state taxes

Chicago is rumored to have a deal to move Deng to NJ for Humprhries or LAC for Jordan. That would pay them around 13 million each.

Knicks have offered them 11.5 million each.

So they have options to play together. I think Amare to the Knicks is big because if say Wade and Bosh head to Chicago or Miami for the max money, LeBron may seen NY as his best chance to win multiple championships

One more ESPN item JA Adande, a good reporter, said it would be news if anyone took a lesser contract. So far Johnson and Amare have taken the money. Wade and LeBron can get more staying put.

  • KnickKam

What a bunch of insecure idiots! They would not know real news if it hit them in the nutsack.Denial is a river flooding ESPN!

  • KnickKam

And they will not get there! NONONE wants Dengs sorry ass bloated contract to do the Bulls a favor so that they can dominate the EC forever. No1 is that crazee especially now that Zeke is gone!

  • KnickKam

    +10000000
How else is LBJ gonna part ways? “Oh I’m sorry Cleveland and the rest of the US, I’m going to NYC which happens to be everyone’s nightmare cuz they have kosher hot dog stands?” Pleeeezz!

  • JeffM729

    Saw this tweet:

Also, Knicks have not ruled out a Stoudemire-Lee pairing, if they miss on the other big FAs.

    HowardBeckNYT

  • KnickKam

And they deserve to never be a credible source of sports news again! To not even discuss the Knicks as a viable option for Lebron or any other decent FA is just disgusting! I hope they all eat their words! Hell they already should be eating their words! Knicks were supposed to get shut out right? What happened S***head brooooosh**! Go get your news from the bum outside the liquor store!

  • TG

    That doesn’t work.

  • KnickKam

I’m not sure bro. I know that Rose is a great PG but how are LBJ and him going to share the ball? If LBJ penetrates can Rose be on the perimeter and hit the Three? If Rose penetrates can LBJ?Answer me that riddle about basketball 101 pleeeez!

  • TG

…well..unless the plan would be to trade one of them before the next year…maybe?

  • KnickKam

Bro you are the only one talking sense here! It is so apparent that Lebron is coming to NYC (his favorite city in which he just recently bought a house) for years now!

  • KnickKam

Hells yeah !!!!!! What a dooooofuss!! What happened to the tri-umvirate in Miami Broushi*head?

  • marky3320

I totally agree that it does take two to tango. The LeBron camp could have easily just rejected the Knicks request for a second meeting to talk about the salary cap, and say, “Sorry, you had your chance, and we’ll take it from here.” Interesting to note that Tommy did mention that Mav Carter and possibly LeBron will be in NY on Wednesday, the day LeBron will make his decision after his Nike camp. What if D Wade decided to come along to NY, and just wanted to wait until LeBron made his decision final…wishful thinking I guess…LeBron, Stoudemire and Wade…

  • thefloodwatch

when your a NBA Exec or Player what is the thing Media Training Teaches you ??/

and thats what Mr Donnie Walsh is doing
hell thats what the Media is doing ( they’re not beating up the Knicks ) but might possibly just warming up the story to keep us DRAWN in –
i truly believe Lebron will join Stoudamire if not he will remain in Cleveland –
just think of Lebron missing out on being part of a NEW Knicks Dynasty that can Consist of Stoudamire,Parker and Melo – and guess what else i believe they all have NIKE contracts – this can be Bigger than Basketball

  • defensekills

loves how espn just had a segment wit ja adande about how the new york knicks could get shut out of free agency. amidst all the talk of amare, they continue to bash ny. its unreal, like there maybe a chance mia gets shut out, or chitown. wtf.

  • marky3320

Imagine to think that new Nike ad with Stoudemire and LeBron on 34th street will TOTALLY shadow that NETS mural hovering near MSG!!!

  • thefloodwatch

and also about Donnie Walsh..if you knew you can possibly have Lebron on board with Amare ..would you make it relevant for the other teams in play to start flinging dirt around??? of course not

  • thefloodwatch

right Marky…the only way to Win is just play to Win not say you’ll Win like the NETS is acting

  • brookdon

I am starting to ignore ESPN’s comment about the Knicks. Lol. Adande was sorta kinda fair to the Knicks today, saying Amare will give them a chance.

  • marky3320

I’m beginning to laugh at all this ESPN talk about this Knicks…but like what some of you has said, it ain’t done until they all sign under the dotted line…

  • KnickKam

Yes that is what the NYK’s front office has related to their staff to be their official policy and press-line. So as not to arouse any suspicion that LBJ has made a decision already. A decision which is approximately two years old!

  • Mucha

I love way Chris Broussard talks about Joe Johnson-Amare Stoudemire-LeBron James being a “DREAM scenario”… and LeBron James-Chris Bosh- Dwyane Wade taking less money to play together in Miami.

  • KnickKam

or go through an eyescrape and microfracture of the knee and then get signed to a 5yr 100million contract that is uninsurable!LOL@!!

  • thefloodwatch

regardless Knicks played their hand while everyone scrambled – so to rule the Knicks out of FA signing is an understatement – they grabbed Amare immediately – while everyone else was non-committing – so who has the edge ..i say NY cause so many scenarios are now in players minds – like Wow Amare on the Knicks with a possibility of Lebron..so now Wade attention is thinking of where to win as well as Bosh – Knicks can also bring back Lee if Lebron stays in CLE and have a Dominant Frontline with Lee Stoudamire and maybe Haywood Knicks can also S&T Lee for Monte Ellis a guard the East will Fear
Knicks can also wait until the Trade deadline and deal Lee,Chandler and Curry to Denver for Melo ..allowing for a Tony Parker or CP3 2011 FA Class
    - Knicks made their move and its a really good one
now the Question remains will they follow through or get beat like the 2009 Draft

  • KnickKam

So no matter what FA we would sign outside of LBJ, Wayde, and Bosh we would be considered desperate. Even though we are just attempting to fill out our roster with cautious optimism that we will land LBJ? WTF?!!!

  • Deuces88

Honestly looking at this situation i really wonder why lebron wouldn’t wanna come to NY. lets look at the other teams….

First you have chicago… He can go their and win 3-4 titles, and he still won’t be the best basketball player to play for the franchise, he’ll constantly be compared to jordan.

NJ- Brooklyn is enticing yes, but spending two years of your life waiting for that to happen?

Miami – Again he can win a title with wade and bosh (if the three were to team up). But all people will say is the same things they said about kobe for years, that lebron can’t win one by himself.

Cleveland – His hometown, yes. But to me if cleveland wasn’t his hometown he wouldn’t even have given second thought to going back their, unless they do something major idk if i can see the team winning a title in the upcoming years.

Point i’m trying to make is every player cares about their legacy. If your lebron, you come to NY and win a couple titles, revive the franchise, nobody doubts you. If he’s one of the greatest to ever play the game i think he’d have no problem doing that.

Also and its not like were putting no talent around him, between Amare, Gallo, Chandler, you mix and match here and their and you have an extremely talented team. Lebrons passing skills, with Amare’s ability to finish, and gallo’s ability to shoot, it would be pretty nuts if you ask me.

And what happens if it doesn’t work out this year lebron? The knicks have the cap flexibility to make some more moves next offseason as well.

Idk i guess i’m obviously biased being a knick fan, but overall, i think the knicks should appeal to lebron because they have a little bit of everything he’s looking for, and the flexibility to make changes if it doesn’t work out right away.

  • KnickKam

And he will go to Chicago to get what money? Unless you think that his extra 30 mill by staying in Cleveland is a higher amount than the 2 billion he can make in NYC?

  • KnickKam

LBJ is not coming here to make the same amount as Amare, he is coming here to make the most amount of money that an athlete has ever made! AND WIN A CHAMPIONSIP IN THE PROCESS!!What is amazing is that we are in a postion to be part of this history!

  • Armand27

DaGawd I think HaS, x, YOSON, and others (like I care) are probably waiting until this is all over, so the gross amount of people newly commenting can go back to being a bit more than casual Knicks fans, and we can go back to talking about the actual team rather than the potential of signing LeBron…which I personally think is happening.

I totally agree with everything you wrote except for the Obama thing. Yes isiah made mistakes but he doesn’t get enough credit for what he did right. Layden destroyed the knicks. I’m huge fan who watched or listened to every game since the late 80′s. The end of the Layden era was the only time that I couldn’t watch this team. Eisley, Shandon Anderson, Weatherspoon… And you’re right DW blew it by not trading up for Stephen curry or even worse not drafting Jennings. All of those unmovable contracts (crawford 6thman of the yr),randolph (all-star), richardson, were moved again for more of a bounty than what Walsh got.

Lee and Amare would be an absolutely horrible pairing.

With Amare right now the Knicks have the most attractive pieces, even without a PG or true center, yet. If LBJ does not sign, we may have overpaid for Amare, but it was a risk we had to take. If LBJ, Wade, and Bosh don’t come, Donnie needs to stay patient and not throw the money around. Use that cap space to get draft picks like OKL City did over the years. Start building like a small market team. Don’t throw money at the Mike Millers of the world.

Zeke was given a 2-3 off suit and asked to win the hand. You gotta lie, cheat and take big risks to win it. He thought Marbury and Curry would do it for him and they let him down.

Love this Dan Klores quote…the king of PR and a rabid rabid knick fan (directed the 30 for 30 reggie v knick film)

“”If he stays in Cleveland, that’s when the story gets old…I guarantee you, if he stays in Cleveland, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant are the faces of the league. But if he comes to New York, it’s all him.”

It’s kinda true. If LeBron stay in Cleveland, he must deliver the title to Cleveland in order to make himself newsworthy again…who cares if he wins another mvp over there…really

There is a lot of pressure if he stays home, could actually be more pressure than even here, which is amazing when you think about it.

    True.

I think he’s the face of the league if he wins a title in Cleveland. But they don’t have enough assets to build a championship team around him IMO.
