@RicBucher: Never tweeted LeBron was in Mia. A source said he was. Passed it on to the mothership. Made a 2nd call, told he was in Akron. Killed report.

Jul 8, 2010 @ 05:03 AM from web

Now let’s sit back and wait for 9:00pm, when we’ll hear it directly from LeBron …

  • callamari

  • http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com Greg.Cohen

    This was his next tweet:

“But the insanity is rising: the 1 source came at me hard that LBJ to Mia is done. Only way I go w/one source on that is if it’s LBJ/Mav.”

  • Armand27

    EVERYONE..

  • dino2008

Now can everyone relax. Lebron would have made the annoucnemtn with wade and bosh unless he wants to seem above them.

    TOMMY, PHENOMENAL WORK!

  • Mostafa Khalifa

Of course the insanity is rising. And it’s going to keep rising to drive people into a frenzy, so they have only one place to go to find out fact from fiction. More frenzy = more eyeballs on ESPN

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

at 9 will have alot of bullsh8t.all it takes is 1-5 second to say where your signing, the whole show is gonna be drama just what people luv,so why did u choose there, what does your family think, can u trust your mom in the new location,do u think delonte west will be coming,an the list goes on,i’ll turn in for 10mins thats it if he doesn’t say where in that time span i’ll just read it

  • row

Good news. And here’s a great tweet I just found to lighten up the mood: “Did u hear apple is releasing a special edition lebron james iphone? Problem is it only vibrates b/c it doesnt have a ring”

    zinger.

  • TON BKLYN

    I need a drink!!!!!!!!!

  • TrentMotherTucker

Could be smoke… Newsday is owned by Cablevision which owns the Knicks.

Could be fire… lots of reasons to destroy alanhahn as he is has been getting a lot of pub on twitter.

  • bearplaneattack

Bucher obviously came up with this cover up cause he works for ESPN and what good would it do to alienate Knick fans and bring veiwership down for Lebron’s special by telling everyone he’s going to Miami. Hahn on the other hand doesn’t have to worry about that. I’ll believe Hahn over Bucher for now.

  • TrentMotherTucker

Anyone read the A-Woj article. Basically destroys Mav. Mav can barely get J-Flynn a spot on used car dealership in Minny. Mav needs this Lebronathon more than LeBron does.

  • knicks710

    RealGMcom

Newsday’s headline has softened from Hahn’s original Tweet.

They changed it to “LeBron ‘Leaning Towards’ Miami Heat”. Big difference between leaning towards and has chose to play for.

  • http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com Greg.Cohen

That’s interesting. Might be something to think about folks.

  • knicksfan555

im going to bed im going to have a heart attack

  • lomaz88

Maybe we can lighten things up with Broussard bashing? Here is a email I wrote to Bill Simmons hoping to get on the mailbag about a week ago.

    “Hey Bill,

I have an idea for a great new phrase that will replace “Just Kidding” or “NOT!” or simply, “I’m lying to you.” In order to communicate this at the end of a sentence, just say, “according to Chris Broussard.”

For example, Borat could have said, “The suit is black, according to Chris Broussard.” Then clearly we would know the suit was NOT black. This could easily apply in sports. For example, “Eddy Curry has gotten off the couch, according to Chris Broussard.” CLEARLY NOT TRUE! If we are going to get creative, how about in a break-up, one may say, “It’s not you, it’s me, according to Chris Broussard.” This will ease the pain off the girl because she will have no idea that you are lying, however you are telling her you are lying so you don’t even have to feel bad.

I understand if you cannot post this in your Mailbag because of loyalty to ESPN and what not. However, if you can shoot me back an email confirming the potential stickability of this phrase, I promise I won’t tell a soul.

    - Chris Broussard RULES!, according to Chris Broussard”

  • JimSF

There’s nothing on Hahn’s Newsday blog:

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/the-knicks-fix-1.812055

Maybe he got hacked. Fingers crossed.

  • JimSF

    Hahahahahahaha. Awesome.

  • asumets

    lol

  • http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com Greg.Cohen

Is anyone else slowly losing their mind?

  • row

hahaha amazing. I really doubt he posts or replies, but if he does read it he’ll secretly agree. just too good. though, he has ragged on ESPN personalities before but this might hurt too much for Mr. Broussard.

  • row

    yup

  • yuhdunknow2g

one thing that has me a lil worried is that the miami heat didnt go after any sg, sf, or pf’s in the free agency. like they knew those three were coming. from what i know they only went after pg’s and c’s. i think maybe one sg they went after, but im sure they knew wade was resigning.

  • JimSF

No such luck. Just spotted the weaken version of Hahn’s story posted by TommyDee.

  • ben5151

Here is my conspiracy theory: Bankrupt Newsday asked him to come out with a story like this so that people pay to use the website/his blog…

  • Realist_Knick_Fan

Hahn’s latest tweet – article is premium content – and cannot read it:

Sources: LeBron leaning Towards Choosing Heat: http://bit.ly/c8tTKb

Hahn has been pretty reliable throughout all of this. We shall see . . . .

  • yuhdunknow2g

ric bucher said after that tweet “But the insanity is rising: the 1 source came at me hard that LBJ to Mia is done. Only way I go w/one source on that is if it’s LBJ/Mav.”

i tweeted him asking “is the source lebron or maverick carter? a simple yes or no will suffice” and he sent me a direct msg saying “no”.

now, of course he could be lying..but the fact that he sent a direct msg as opposed to just doing a reply tweet for everyone to see probably means something.

  • Dylan

The worst part is that Stephen A. Smith is going to look like a genius… He predicted this a long time ago!

  • lomaz88

Hahn’s tweet says, “LeBron has decided…”. The article says, “LeBron leaning toward…”.

Sounds like somebody is a little unsure of themselves…

  • ben5151

Stephen A. guessed as a calculated risk to save his career…and it may work! Expect him to get a few job offers should this pan out. Apparently his “sources” may be all he cracks them up to be.

  • stealth540

    http://twitter.com/PDcavsinsider

“Newsday has reported LeBron has decided on Heat. Only a couple of people can truly confirm this. None have to me at this point.”

I’m taking this as a small ray of light.

  • danny7434

    means what?

  • JimSF

Man I hope that’s not true. SO sick of that fool.

  • lomaz88

and by somebody I mean Hahn. Hopefully #6 has chosen NY already.

  • http://wwww.InfographicWorld.com knicksfanjhb

Slowly? It was slowly starting Last Thursday. Now my mind is in a warp of madness to which no outcome makes any sense. Hence I just took an ambien, so I can pass the hell out, and have only 1 more day to deal with utter madness.

  • ricksthepick

“Over? Did you say over? Nothing’s over till we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? It ain’t over now! Cause when the going gets tough…………the tough get going? Who’s with me? Let’s go! C’mon!….”

/secretly believes the Hahn story is true

  • yuhdunknow2g

i would think it means that its still anybody’s game because its not a sure thing since lebron/mav werent the sources that said hes going to miami.

  • knicksfix

so lebron needs to create a super dream team olympic status squad to compete im disgusted

  • stealth540

For those without premium content, this is the Hahn article.

After more than two years of planning and preparing, of salary dumping and cap-carving trades and wishful thinking, the Knicks may well find out that it was still not enough to land LeBron James.

According to multiple NBA sources, the two-time MVP Thursday night is expected to choose the Heat, where he would join fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The two Wednesday announced their commitments to the Heat and neither Wade nor Bosh had agreed to terms, which suggested they were waiting on James as the third piece.

James officially will announce his choice during his hour special, “The Decision,” on ESPN at 9 p.m. He will make his selection from a group of six teams – the Knicks, Nets, Heat, Cavaliers, Bulls and Clippers – that met with him last week during a three-day period of presentations and sales pitches.

Donnie Walsh Wednesday afternoon told Newsday that he has been given no indication either way about the Knicks’ chances with James. Reports from national media outlets such as ESPN have all but written off the Knicks, but Walsh had enough of following rumors. Those have dominated a weeklong LeBronathon that started last Thursday when the NBA’s free-agency period began and the Knicks and Nets separately met with the two-time MVP and his representation in Cleveland.

“I’ve heard everybody else talk,” Walsh said, “but I’ve never heard the kid talk.”

The show will be staged at the Boys & Girls Club in Greenwich, Conn. Proceeds for the show will go to the Boys & Girls Club of America, a charity that is special to James. The significance of location certainly seems favorable for the Knicks because their Westchester practice facility is minutes away and Manhattan is just a 45-minute drive from there.

But it is not believed to be any indication. The Knicks certainly were prepared to go ahead with business by holding a noon news conference Thursday at the Garden to officially introduce Amar’e Stoudemire, who on Monday agreed to terms on a five-year, $99.7-million contract.

A person close to Stoudemire told Newsday that the five-time All-Star was “reaching out to LeBron” over the last few days to try to persuade him to join him in New York. The Knicks hoped the addition of Stoudemire, an All-NBA second-team power forward, would be the clincher. Now it appears he will be their biggest free-agency signing of the summer, which is still significant for a team that went 29-53 last season.

The Bulls, who already boast Derrick Rose, also added another piece to their roster when they came to terms with forward Carlos Boozer on a reported five-year, $80-million deal.

The Knicks are prepared to act quickly if James decides not to come to New York. According to multiple NBA sources, the team has several scenarios on hold that will be activated. One scenario involves the team sending David Lee to the Warriors for Anthony Randolph, Kelenna Azubuike and Ronny Turiaf.

The team also will get to work on looking for a point guard, with Raymond Felton and Luke Ridnour as the main targets. It’s certainly not a blueprint for a championship-caliber roster, but with the right kinds of contracts, the Knicks still could have more cap flexibility next summer, when players such as Carmelo Anthony and Tony Parker are scheduled to be free agents.

The Knicks have inquired about both players and have been told neither is on the block. Parker and Stoudemire have talked about teaming up with the Knicks, and a person close to Parker said he and his wife, actress Eva Longoria, are very interested in coming to New York.

Anthony has a three-year, $65-million extension on the table from the Nuggets, who expect he will sign it. But Anthony, who will be in New York City Saturday for his wedding, is believed to be hedging because he is unsure about the future of the Nuggets.

Anthony and Parker, however, are wary of not having a contract next summer and being stuck without one as the current collective-bargaining agreement expires.

If the Heat is, indeed, the choice, James, Wade and Bosh would form an unprecedented superstar trio that would instantly challenge the two-time defending champion Lakers for the NBA title. There has been talk that Pat Riley would return to the bench to lead this star-studded team in search of his sixth NBA title as a coach. Riley won one with Wade and the Heat in 2006.

The Dolan family owns controlling interests in the Knicks, MSG and Cablevision. Cablevision owns Newsday.

    FOR NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES ONLY.

Chris_Broussard Sources with knowledge of the situation indeed saying LeBron will join Wade and Bosh in Miami, barring a late change of heart
    1 minute ago via web

  • adamsilver

What a joke. I can’t believe this. What a wimp.

  • Jesse

we should all just wait till tomorrow to see what happens, I don’t think anybody affiliated with Lebron that actually knows is ganna leak, Lets all go to bed before we develop a heart condition and let fate take its course.

OH GOD LET LEBRON BE A KNICK!!!

  • JimSF

    Thanks.

  • danny7434

Too many different outlets are saying it now. I hate to say it but I think this is it. He can now call himself King Bitch.

  • Mostafa Khalifa

    “according to Chris Broussard”

  • JimSF

Yep. Jason Smith reporting on the Broussard report now. It’s spreading like wildfire. Still. Who are these sources?!?!

    If true, weakest move ever.

  • brookdon

If he goes to Miami Wade or Durant would become The face of the NBA. What kind of knng goes to anothers kingdom to win?

    Bryant>Wade>Durant>James

  • http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com Greg.Cohen

Wasn’t Stephen A. saying a few weeks ago that LeBron wanted to come here? I could have sworn I heard him on with Brandon Tierney saying that.

  • yuhdunknow2g

if he goes to miami then the hierarchy goes like…

    marbury>duhon>shawn bradley>D-League>WNBA>lebron james

  • JimSF

Interesting tweets from TommyDee about Miami looking for a 3way deal and that noone wants to commit until LeBron does. I hope this all implodes.

  • danny7434

I thought the “King” would want to make his OWN legacy. He should just read D Wades shirt to know that he will always be #2 there – Wade County. Have fun being Wades Bitch in Miami, change your name from King to Jack.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

that shit been out is comes with powder

  • whatitbenyc

I don’t know about you guys. You should be happy everything is leaning towards Miami and not NY. It’s obvious shit has leaked out enough about NY being the ultimate decision, this is purposely to keep all cities tuned in. It’s to throw everyone off. If I saw Broussard saying “LeBron leaning towards Knicks.” I’d sincerely be concerned. Here’s my theory. ESPN phone conference calls to all writers “Guys, too much shit has leaked out about NY, no one will tune in tomorrow, start making things go in Miami’s favor, then tomorrow, late in the day make things go in Cleveland’s favor get on it now. Ric Bucher posted that dumb shit about flying to Miami, and ESPN called him up and said, “Are you fucking nuts, that’s too extreme, take that down now, just say ‘sources say he’s leaning towards Miami asshole’ don’t say he’s flying to Miami.” Ok ok ok. Etc. This is how journalism works guys. Don’t sweat it. LeBron is a Knick.

  • dinger

Maybe I’m blindly optimistic, but I think this is a leak to get people off their trail and compel people to watch the show. Let’s just look at the last few hours… Alan Hahn breaks the story that LeBron’s announcing his decision from CT. Everyone reads into that and thinks it’s New York because of the proximity to NYC. Now tonight multiple sources (from James’ camp maybe??) go directly to Hahn to get the story out there that it’s not NY, but MIA (despite the many reasons why it doesn’t seem logical). Because it’s Hahn it seems like it’s in response to that earlier leak of information they didn’t want out there. Also, let’s remember Wojo’s self-righteous article from earlier today that cried about James’ camp giving out false information to him, so it’s not beyond them to manipulate the story. Just seems suspicious.

  • brookdon

Something that interests me is the luxury tax. In the last year of Wade and Bosh contract (if a sign and trade is completed) they will be committing 59 mil just between those two. LBJ has 20 so that would be 70 mil for three players in year 5. Luxury tax will be ridiculous.

  • ricksthepick

Here’s my silver lining if this is true. I think back to 2004. Rumors fly that Alex Rodriguez is going to be traded and that him going to Boston was all but a done deal. Lo and behold he tries to take less money, the MLBPA throws a fit, and he winds up a Yankee. For those that live in New York and Boston, we all know what happened there. What I remember distinctly was Boston players saying, “Had we got A-Rod I don’t think we would’ve been able to do what we did.” Now I can concede basketball is entirely different from baseball, specifically that basketball is the sport most conducive to having the best player can win you games outright. It hurts, and it will hurt. But maybe, just maybe, this changes the Knicks and something amazing happens out of it. “You can’t always get what you want…but sometimes you get what you need.”

  • cr4z3d

im sorry but Ric bucher is just posting anything thats against James leaving to go anywhere. Hes gona ride with him staying, if he does then hes going to say how right he was all along, but if hes wrong then he’ll make some excuse.

  • Hustle

The Borat part was good, but the girlfriend part was what really killed me. Good stuff.
