SI: Not Buying the Hype…

The rule of reality TV is to advertise a surprising “twist” without letting viewers know what it may be. If people who really do know what James is thinking have been spreading word that he’ll sign with Miami, then I view that as another way of creating suspense and surprise for the actual announcement to have maximum impact.

If we all believe he’s going to Miami, and he goes on TV to say he’s going to Miami, then what was the point of the live TV show? If his own camp is leaking out the final result then there is ultimately going to be little drama to “The Decision,” as the ESPN show has been titled.

NY, Cleveland, or Miami…it’s always been simple for me. No one had a clue where Brett Favre or Johan Santana were going….

@buzzbissinger: If LeBron goes to Heat does not win immediately, will rank as greatest worst pro performance ever. At some point all bs comes back to haunt.

    Agreed,and it WILL happen.

    Also
@buzzbissinger: 11 hours 23 minutes till The Decision: have to go to work. Stay tuned through out day for latest updates on BSPN–America’s bulls*** leader

    LOL

  • Dylan

Let go already… LeBron is going to Miami.

  • NYK5150

Even if the Knicks DO land Lebron, he has lost so many points for putting everyone through this zoo. He hasn’t even won anything yet, jeez.

  • nachomas4

this report gave me some life though
the reports and td gotta keep coming if we are going down lets go down together man
i wanna keep reading rumors up until 9pm

  • ixiesl0ixi

didn’t we know that Brett Favre was going to the Jets because the Packers didn’t want to send him to the Vickings?

  • bartnyk

He only loses points if he doesn’t sign with the Knicks

  • burntass

“the decision” of clippers and nets, if lebron really wants to stir up any real drama.

  • grahambo86

    Love Buzz

  • Knicks4life

“No one had a clue where Brett Favre or Johan Santana were going….”

    Weren’t both those guys traded?

  • bklehmann1

we need to come to grips with the situation and expect the worst!!

i’m at the point where i just cant see him saying NY.

  • Dylan

    +1

  • manghangson

    Game over.

  • SilentJay

Something tells me he won’t care if he chooses Miami.

  • grahambo86

You get used to it being a Mets fan that I am. lol

  • NYK5150

    +1, LOL

  • SilentJay

    +2
But at least I’ve been saying for a while. Expect the best but be ready for the worst.

  • grahambo86

Between, the Mets, Rangers, Knicks, Giants, and Notre Dame, I get used to the worst possible situation because it happens…A LOT! lol

  • KnickFan4Life

SI much better source than ESPN at this point. Everyone is so glued to ESPN but is forgetting they are the ones producing this “extravaganza”…

At the end of the day I still think Lebron to Miami makes 0% sense…

    Your comment is awaiting moderation.

  • Fordham Ram

so do you think Randoplh, Turiaf and say Felton is a good summer?

    Felton
    Chanlder
    Gallo
    Randolph
    Stoudemire

One thing this lineup has is shot blocking but Randolph is 210 pounds.

  • bklehmann1

I DO!! We would’ve have gotten younger and will have a ton of room under the cap.

Randolph is liking getting a top 5 pick this year. We swap Amare for Lee and get a PG in Felton.

  • Fordham Ram

    Chandler sorry

  • marky3320

i guess that is one positive spin to this…we still have cap space for next year, and we get a point guard and a center.

  • KnickFan4Life

What about the Jets? They are the kings of that. But they are in a strange position next year where they are probably the favorites coming into the season…

  • JeffM729

Maybe that teams makes the playoffs in the East. Not really why we have tanked two seasons to have a team contending for a 7-8 seed.

  • ImNewYorkWhereEva

This is a call to all true, die hard; I bleed orange and blue, Knick fans. No matter what happens tonight, we need to stop cheering other players of other teams when they come to our house. We need to stop allowing fans of other teams from getting into our building and if they do we need to drown them out! I’m sick of watching people in our building cheering for anybody in the other uniform. This is an epidemic in our town; it happens when Dallas comes into Giants stadium and when Boston comes into Yankee stadium. We’re supposed to be the smartest and greatest fans in the world and we allow this and help it to happen by selling our tickets to non fans of our team. So don’t be sad if LBJ doesn’t come, let’s get back to being who we are New Yorkers. Let’s support the one man who took on the challenge … STAT City, in our quest to dethrone the true King — Kobe Bryant.

We fought tooth and nail to beat MJ and the bulls. Do we love our team any less because they couldn’t climb that mountain? Hell no! We love those old Knick teams. We’ll love this new team too. Trust me. Knick fan for life, f… Jay-Z, f… Rat Riles, write it down, take a picture, I don’t give a f… The Knicks will be champions in this Wade/LBJ/Bosh era. I guarantee it!

  • Lebris Jamosh aka ridiculous upside

    CR_Reina

“Just spent 45 minutes watching tape on Anthony Randolph; he’s a classic fool’s gold case. Scary future for him, both good and bad.”

I would love this trade regardless.

  • ddag1

at this point, i dont even know if i want lebron anymore, this whole circus he has created has made him look like a bitch to me. being a syracuse fan i am totally fine with waiting a year and getting carmello. if carmello comes to the knicks the balance of power will shift to the eastern conference. i personally think lebron is staying in cleveland so he will look like a hero. no way he goes to miami because if they never win he will be looked at as a joke who gave up on clev cuz he couldnt win and then tried to join a dream team and STILL couldnt win. it would be devastating to his career.

  • bluemax

That report from SI makes perfect sense. No way he is going to MIA.

The entire recruting process was a charade, a setup. Just for the rating. He is probably staying in CLE.

    fine with me.

We just go on and build a good team without LBJ.

  • KnickFan4Life

Yes this production is a bit tired at this point…these guys need a serious lesson in less is more…

  • knicksallday

Hell no… We should not get Felton!! He’s a bum!

  • KnickFan4Life

SI much better source than you know who at this point. Everyone is so glued to you know who but is forgetting they are the ones producing this “extravaganza”…

  • KnickFan4Life

Wouldn’t put Giants in there. They have 3 super bowls. That’s a lot for the NFL…

  • bahnard_31

Cerrone knew where JOHAN was going….go Tommy!!!!! This is YOUR Johan!!!!!!!!

  • NYK5150

Kevin Durant in OKC, perfect example. Kid is a Baller, and signed the extension in the background. With that squad in OKC, he’ll probably challenge for the Title before Lebron and his Miami Circus.

  • NYK5150

Word up. Screw Lebron, Wade, and Rupaul(Bosh), lol.

If clowns can’t handle NY, then we can BOO them. You’re

either with us, or an enemy as Anakin said.

  • nachomas4

In regards to Cleveland, Lebron going Miami is probably worse for them than coming to NY
joining a super team is just disgusting, you are just a piece to Wades puzzle and quest for another ring

  • http://www.counterpunch.com/ krumbledkookie

    I can’t live like this.

  • da0213

This same article also says – quote – “New York has no chance.”

But in reading this article, I think this guy is right – he’s gonna get on national TV and say he’s staying in Cleveland. This whole thing – this whole process, all of the media frenzy – has been intentionally set him up for him to be the Jimmy Stewart of basketball, the anti-Kobe.

I just figured it all out. He’s gonna put his arms around twenty or so kids from the Boys & Girls Club and say, “You see – I’d never let you down like that.” Him and Jim Grey are going to talk about how Ohio is everything to him. He’ll talk about how he and the Cavs are family and are committed to winning a chamionship. Him and Wilbon will talk about his deication and determination.

And when it’s all said and done, it’ll be like an episode of “Father Knows Best.”

Let’s face it – the major players all had a moment in the sun: Knicks, Bulls, Heat all had a minute to bask in the glimmer. We all went into this thinking it was all about basketball. But I just realized it was never about basketball.

  • breadclock

Dunno if this is odd or not, but I’m actually more confident in Lebron’s picking the Knicks today with all the Heat rumors/hype in overdrive than yesterday when the Knicks rumors were flying. I definitely subscribe to the “misdirection” theory, knowing most people will get it wrong. The sheeple always get it wrong. Biggest thing against Miami is that it’s Dwyane’s stage there and always will be. Everyone talks about Lebron’s monster ego, and now he’s going to piggyback onto Wade’s Kingdom? Absolutely makes no sense. Makes sense for Bosh who’s grateful to be a well paid wingman, but Lebron’s not Karl Malone/Gary Payton jumping to the Kobe-Shaq Lakers in pathetic desperation for a ring.

  • BobbyFromBK

Tommy, you never said Miami–only NY and Cleveland. And as Dylan says, let it go. Be humble and admit you were wrong. It’s not the first time and it definitly won’t be the last.

  • NashWonder

My basketball life is a little depressing right now. The Knicks get screwed by this chump and my beloved Huskies are facing probation! The start of my 30′s and sports looks gloomy!

  • ReaSonable DoubT

I’m gonna go crazy over these rumors i swear…

  • NashWonder

I feel you because to be honest I hope he says he going back to Cleveland so we can watch his legacy die the way it should! I’m not a true New Yorker (I’m from CT) but I bleed orange and blue and want Gloria James’ son to go to H..

  • PipeDreamin

id be just as happy watching lebron flourish in NY as i would be watching lebron lose his legacy somewhere else at the hands of the knicks.

  • BrooklynFinest1

Rumors is what is giving not only ESPN the highest ratings ever during this Lebron coverage but it has given columnists and journalists big exposure when most fans never knew them. If you wanna be a star say your sources told you that Lebron is going to the Clippers and watch how fast that story will spread. Its insanity but I blame a lot of you fans for drooling and kissing another teams players ass like this. MJ destroyed and embarrassed us in matter of fact he owned us but our fans never cheered his airness they booed him. So if we don’t get Lebron plan b better be Meo or CP3 nothing less. I didn’t watch us lose year after year to have Ellis or Randolph or James Jordan.

  • donnie walsh

i thought it was always just new york or cleveland? Isn’t that what we’ve been told??????

  • greywolf

lebron’s a pus##y if he goes to miami. fu## pat riley and the heat if they get lebron. i hate that dude more than ever if he pulls this off.
