TKB.tv: The Day After…

by Tommy Dee on July 9th, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Here’s the link to Will Leitch’s piece and one to BP’s reaction as well written by the venerable Bradford Doolittle. This isn’t about James not selecting the Knicks, it’s to remain consistent on how ridiculous the entire process was and how, even though they are laughing to the bank, the real losers are the fans of the NBA

  • http://www.twitter.com_AnthonyRojas AnthonyRojas

Ive moved on… Lebron took the easy way out.. he couldn’t and never will handle the BIG STAGE!

  • DinnerDog

Chandler and Cap Space for Okafor and Collison. See if you can flip Okafor for a better fitting player on a team that needs a big (Rip Hamilton comes to mind)

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

did andrew really just say anthony carter>???? Lol, realllllllly??? I may have to stop watching the knicks if they had anthony carter starting at the one next year…

How come none of you guys everrr talk about Kyle Lowry???

  • http://www.twitter.com_AnthonyRojas AnthonyRojas

    i would do that

  • dreamer3kx

    +1

I want players who want to be here and change this team around quickly, yea money was a good part of why Amare came here but he no doubt wanted to be here and play in this city in MSG, he’s going to bring a ton of energy here and hopefully that rubs off on the rest of the guys, I want to see grit, guts and some fights at the garden this year.

  • JeffM729

    July 8th;

We want the King, We want the King!!!

    July 9th;

Kill the King, Kill the King!!!

  • TJPry

if two first rounders from the nets for paul and okafor could have went through, then there is certainly hope for the knicks to land paul right?
maybe something like curry/chandler/randolph would actually work. seems too good to be true though

how can you not take back okafor’s contract if we can get the best pg in basketball with him. plus we’ll get someone to protect the rim and knock lebron on his ass a few times a year.

    pg – paul
    sg – azabuike?
    sf – gallo
    pf – amar’e
    c – okafor

how can u argue with that starting lineup right now

  • Dylan

Not a bad idea, but I don’t think I would take Okafor’s contract back unless it is in a deal for CP3.

  • cms9675

I don’t know about okafor and I think we’ll end up signing ridnour. But I hear ya, lebron made his choice. I think the knicks are better off. We have a better team than we did at the start of last seasson and we still got 13 mill in cap space. So I think we’ll be one of the playoff teams in the east this year. Things are looking up!

  • bmathews77

Lebron is a front-runner — anyone who roots for the Yankees and Cowboys and doesn’t live in NY/Dallas is — but otherwise he was an Akron guy. So he’d only leave for the Yankees/Cowboys type situation. Championship on a silver platter. As many have said, he’s the basketball version of A-Rod.

  • JeffM729

    Another Eddy Curry fantasy.

New Orleans trades their starting all-NBA PG and center for a bankrupt, having sex with a minor Eddy Curry and two guys that couldn’t start for lottery teams.

  • knicksfan555

    you look like smigel

  • bga

if we somehow got paul and okafor would we still be able to sign Melo?

  • BiggieSmalls

To be totally honest.. I didnt watch the Lebron-athon live last night..

i watched the first 5 minutes or so then felt so dirty i just went out to meet some friends at a local bar. By the time i got there the decision was made…

watching the replays i’m obviously glad i didnt waste the full hour watching this.. LBJ looked like a deer in the head lights.. NOT what you want from your max player franchise super star..

In the end I think the thing most people (including myself) got wrong was Lebron’s desire to be the Alpha Dog. Clearly by going to MIA be doesnt want to be THE guy ALL. THE. TIME..

That is a very disturbing fact. If he was cut from teh same mold as Jordan, Bird, Magic you’d think he would WANT to be THE guy.

Some (like BobGoKnicks) clearly saw this but most did not..

And because of that and his clear lack of maturity and judgement I’m glad he is not in NYC today.. I cant wait to get to the first MIA/NYK game to root the piss out of him.

i like the idea of using some of the Lee pieces to go after a MAJOR distributor and hope that is the next move..

on an aside — I hope Donnie is doing well physically. He needs to get a CLEAR succession plan in place ASAP only because we need to cultivate some good, young, smart people to pass the torch to. Sadly, I fear that MAY have been one of the reasons Lebron moved on.. THough I think the primary reason was the bright lights of Broadway may have been too much for him.

Good luck playing to half empty arena in SoBe

  • bbrody1

chandler-td for collison-posey sounds good to me
plenty of room for melo (gotta hope) and NO saves money and gets a backup point and a starting 3

  • TJPry

new orleans would look at eddy curry as a contract not as a player

  • jarvis

    LOL

  • Dylan

That would definitely make us a top 3 team in the East. Paul is probably the only guy that could replicate what Nash did under D’Antoni. Plus, this team is MUCH better defensively than Phoenix was under D’Antoni. Okafor, Azu, and Paul are all very good defenders, Gallo is still improving, and Amare said he is also working on his D. I would give up anyone for CP3, but it would be great if we could hold onto Gallo. He is perfect for this system. Randolph is a VERY good trade chip.

  • BiggieSmalls

in fairness.. last nights EPIC debacle is reason to turn a lot of opinions.

  • TJPry

i doubt it..but after all this, wouldn’t you take a guaranteed paul over a maybe with melo..plus apparantly melo may extend his contract with denver

  • bga

yea i would but I think Melo wants to be here or else he would have signed already

  • Dylan

Yeah I like that deal. I think its very fair for both teams. Okafor’s contract is too much to take back.

  • TJPry

very possible, i just cant bear the thought of waiting another year for a guy who might want to come here. we have some assets and flexibility now, if we can swing a nice trade we can be relevant again

  • bob go knicks

Man,you guys are a collective pisser! What ive been saying about this Lebron thing for 2 years, you guys now are just realizing. The entire sports media, treats this guys like some kind of GOD,cover his every royal fart as if it were the sweetest perfume, bow to his every whim, and now your all upset, when you find that Lebron James is really just a big prick. Its the equivelent of giving a child evrey toy he’s ever wanted, and now you’re upset that the child turns out to be a spoiled self serving brat. And even now,i am positive that if LBJ had signed on with the KNICKS,you especially you Tommy Dee,would still be acting as if he were an angel sent down from heaven just to make your basketball team better.well im happy to say that i was never, never a part of this sham, and if they had signed him, would have never been able to watch the Knicks again.I actually jumped for joy when the KING of NOTHING said he was taking his talents to south beach.I hope though that you all learned a lesson from this foolish star worshiping behavior.GO KNICKS

  • JeffM729

Sure every team wants to pay someone $11 million for nothing and let another team steal their All-NBA pg and starting center.

Don’t you think if New Orleans wanted to trade Chris Paul, they could do better than Eddy Curry. Let’s get a grip here.

  • ds2488

This was really just very shocking to me. I still can’t get over it. While I wouldn’t quite take it as far as Leitch was where he was talking about it destroying sports, the whole thing was really a vile, disgusting spectacle ending with Lebron making the worst possible decision for himself. I mean seriously, I would have understood him going to the Nets or Clippers much more.

It was really sickening to me, and I do think Lebron has destroyed his legacy unless he wins more than 3 championships in Miami.

On a side note, this is a perfect example of why players need to have “NO” people in their circle who are professionals that understand business and pr. Not a bunch of “yes” people who just agree with everything he does and says. Lebron’s inner circle has failed him miserably imo, and I couldn’t imagine a worse possible way for all this to play out as far as Lebron’s image goes.

Just really disgusting honestly. I actually legitimately fear for Lebron’s safety when the Heat have to play in Cleveland.

  • jarvis

Well, when the Heat kill the Knicks at the Garden, there won’t be anything we as fans can do other than to boo him. Azabuke will get crushed by Wade. Lebron will take Gallo to the gallows. Amare will fail against Bosh. The only hope we have is if we have a PG and C. And we don’t have that. The Knicks have become the living dead.

  • bob go knicks

PS…you all should be ashamed of yourselves!

  • TJPry

couldn’t agree more..would love to hang on to gallo if possible but if he can help get us chris paul ill drive him to the airport

  • JeffM729

Yeah, after you get turned down by the homecoming queen, your woody gets wilted. ;-)

If he said he was coming NY, it would be an EPIC success.

  • jarvis

If the Knicks don’t win a championship soon, YOU should never watch the Knicks again. In fact, maybe you should be banned from watching any Knick games from now on.

  • ds2488

yeah. Not like we’re the only ones.

CLE went from worshipping him to burning his jersey…With GOOD reason

  • Dylan

Yeah I’m in 100% agreement. It would suck seeing Gallo go, but for CP3 its a no brainer. Paul is the PERFECT player for this system. Better than Melo, better than Wade, and even better than queen James!

  • CuBaNGoDzIlLa

“I’m not one of those guys who’s going to lay down just because they put all those guys on the same team,” Jackson said. “I don’t think anybody on my team is going to lay down. We’re going to come out and play. Everybody has respect for those guys, but at the same time you have to win games to get respect on the court.”

Stephen Jackson’s quote from ESPN today. I don’t like his contract, but I want dudes with an attitude like that on our squad.

  • TJPry

you don’t trade talent for talent in the nba, it just seldom happens. the hornets owner is broke and knows he cant pay paul, and wants to lose okafors enormous contract (hence, why the nets nearly traded 2 first round picks for chris paul and okafor). give them a couple young pieces in addition to an expiring deal and a deal could happen

  • http://theknicksblog.com Andrew Smith

Ha. Forgot to mention the key word on that point “backup”.

Good look. And yes, I do like Lowry.

  • TobyKnight

Now that we have Turiaf, Okafor is not necessary and we don’t have to take on his ugly contract.

    Would still like Collision though.

    What’s happening with Ridnour?

And what about trading Randolph for Rubio?

  • giantg

Fortunately for Riley and Wade and unfortunately for NY, LeBron is less than we thought. He wanted to work less, inspire less, be revered less, shoulder less and oddly was happy to make less. Despite that of course he expects a few championship rings, because he needs them to cement the legacy he just set on fire…

  • clyne

Okafor could be a great front court compliment to Amare…He would give a ton of rebounding and defense…I know his contract is BRUTAL, but it could help us

  • nikurbokir

Not remotely similar. A-Rod was traded to the Yankees.

  • Po

Melo and Paul will sign with Miami for the league minimum.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

the krazyest thing is now all the lebron supporters are bashing him, lmao

now u all looking at CARMELA=AL

like i said ant-ran if he stays healthy an progresses will be 10X better than CARMELA ant-ran already got a better skill set

  • NEW KNICKS, NO REGRETS!

TO ALL OF YOU STOP!!! ASKING FOR BAD PLAYERS WITH BAD CONTRACTS OKAFOR??? PLS PEOPLE FORGET THE FRUSTRATION. LETS START BUILDING RIGHT FROM THE GROUND UP. WE GOT GOOD PLAYERS, YOUNG, ATHLETIC AND TALENTED BE PATIENT, LET THEM GROW TOGETHER AND BECOME A TEAM. WAIT 25 GAMES AND IF THE SHIP IS NOT TURNING THE WE HIT THE PANIC BUTTON…
NO TEAM IS OUT THERE TO HELP THE KNICKS WE HAVE TO DO IT FROM WITH IN…WE ALREADY SUFFER FOR 10 SEASONS 1 OR 2 MORE WOULD NOT HEART…WE GOT TO GET READY FOR THE NETS COMING TO BROOKLYN AND THAT IS IN MAYBE 2 YEARS…THEREFORE BE PATIENT AND SEE HOW THE TEAM IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE THE 1ST DAY OF THE SEASON…

  • BiggieSmalls

so why bother filling out the rest of the roster and playing the games..

let’s just fast forward to Heat Lakers in June 2011

A lot can happen between now and then.

I dont see Kevin Durant crying no fair.. All I see is him tweeting about how he cant wait to go up against them.

  • JeffM729

The team is up for sale and they have a billionaire looking to take control. The last thing you do is trade the face of you franchise and drop it’s value.

Tell me the last All-NBA Chris Paul type player was traded for a bag of chips.

  • gohard83

    lol i am

  • clyne

Thinking that 3 of the top 10 scorers in the NBA are now all on one team, I am thinking we are going to need to upgrade our defense…

Who are the best shut down defenders in the NBA?

Here is my list…what are yours? I put the ones who have been rumored to be on the trade market/ FA in CAPS…Gallo will not be able to stop LBJ, Chandler will not be able to stop Wade and Bosh/Amare is a push to me. to me we are really going to need a SG and SF to slow those 2 down. What about Tony Allen at a 4-5 mil 3 year deal? He could help slow down DWade…

    PG: Rondo / CP3
SG: Ron Artest / TONY ALLEN
    SF: TAYSHAUN PRINCE / Kirelnko
    PF: OKAFOR / JOSH SMITH
    C: Howard / Perkins

  • JeffM729

Heat season tickets are sold out. They have some single game tickets that haven’t put out for sale yet.

  • clyne

    Who do we hate more?

    Pat Reilly or LBJ?

  • jamaher

    http://www.bloomingdales.com/registry/wedding/guest/?registryId=105990&PartnerID=WEDDINGCHANNEL&LinkshareID=734953274&ref=wc

Carmelo’s wedding registry link. Everyone buy something for him and in the name put something like: Knicks Fan.

  • http://www.reeltalkblog.com Shakespeare

Lol, yea mentor for Toney would have made me feel a little better…after last night, you can’t be throwing around Anthony Carter…lol.

  • Mucha

    Well-said

    As usual

  • traps9

Chandler for Peja/Collison barely fits under the cap (at least from my math). Perfect, if NO’s goal is less salary. We don’t have to send back Curry, we get our starting 1, and we get a serviceable backup 3 for Gallo. Also, that leaves $25M in cap space next year.

  • Bloop33

Amar’e fail against Bosh??? Consider Bosh lunch meat in that matchup. Cmon…Cmon.

  • SilentJay

If NO was dumb enough to give up CP3 (which they’re not) they’d include Okafor.
I think that’s why the deal didn’t go through with the Nets, because they didn’t want to absorb his contract.

  • Donnie Walshs Wheelchair Assistant

I hope Miami gets the 1 seed and we get the 8 seed.

  • Dylan

    WojYahooNBA:
Charlotte beat out the Nets for Thomas, the 6-foot-10 forward. Rod Higgins and Larry Brown really wanted to keep him, and they’ve done it.

WOW the Nets are really striking out badly. I thought that worst case scenario they would get Lee or Boozer… Now they can’t even get Ty Thomas!

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i hope donnie some how gets monta in that deal
monta gets 11 mil per the rest of his contract

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

might as well do that for Al also

  • clyne

Why can’t we just James Dolan to pretend he was Vince Vaughn for a day and crash that wedding. Give him a give of a large suitcase filled with $100 bills…

Wait Dolan is more of a Zach Galifianakis rather then a Vince Vaughn…

  • Bloop33

…And like I said you’re drinkin bumjuice purple drank from a sippy cup with Jamarcus Russel.

    Gawd! get a clue.

  • Dylan

Ellis is the biggest ballhog in the NBA! You don’t want Melo but you want Ellis? That makes no sense at all.

  • KnickFaninMD

Talk about narcissistic . . . how much longer do we have to endure your shot in the dark “I told you so?” Playing the one-note crank does not equate to IQ.

  • Mucha

You know what, I’m a happy Knicks fan because we are now trying to build something special and nobody’s going to jump on the Knicks bandwagon.

I love the Knicks frontcourt with Danilo Gallinari, Anthony Randolph, Amare Stoudemire and Ronny Turiaf coming off the bench. And we have more flexibility because Anthony Randolph can be a part of a bigger deal for Carmelo Anthony or even Tony Parker.

  • AbstractReality

    LMFAO

  • ds2488

lol. Whenever I think about the Knicks having it bad, I just have to look at the Nets right now and be grateful.

1st its John Wall Franchise pg only to end up with Derrick Favors.

Then its Coach K or Phil Jackson only to end up with master of panic part 2.

Then it’s Mikhail Prokhorov attracting Lebron and Bosh to be international superstars, only to end up with Travis Outlaw and they can’t even get Tyrus Thomas.

Unbelievable start so far to a team trying to move to NY and taking over the Knicks fan base. Just unbelievable really.

  • gianthinker

I’m in California right now and my friends are telling me good things about Ronny Turiaf and especially Anthony Randolph. I’m hearing that Kelenna Azubuike can play as well but he’s another SF. How many SF’s do we need?

  • TobyKnight

For CP3 you trade Chandler, Gallo, TD and Curry for him and Okafor

    CP3
    Azubuike
    Randolph
    Amare
    Okafor

Lord how sweet that team would be!

If that didn’t do it, then Gallo, Randolph and Curry for CP3.

    CP3
    Azubuike
    Chandler
    Amare
    Okafor

    Still rocks!

Would love to see those guys go to battle against the Miami Hate

  • ds2488

+1. A lineup of Toney-Chandler-Gallo-Randolph-Amare probably has Dantoni pretty excited. At the very least they will be fun to watch. Get some free agents like luke Ridnour, and hope to heck that Carmelo doesn’t sign an extension and I could live with that.

  • TJPry

i agree with you to an extent, but to answer your question…pau gasol comes to mind right away

  • TobyKnight

Dude has every right to go to Miami, it’s just the diva way he handled it.

That and the distasteful aspect of creating a 3-superstar team rather than a 2-superstar team. Who wants to root for a 3-superstar team (unless it’s your own)?

  • Dylan

I think Azubuike is more of a SG. I’m pretty sure thats where he will play on the Knicks.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

thats good your hearing good thing out west in the east i’m hearing stuff like these guys all got 1 leg,etc

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    ballhog,,lmao

  • jarvis

    Both.

  • TobyKnight

    +1
That would be a great deal for the Knicks and help NO as well.

    Collision
    Azubuike
    Gallo
    Amare
    Turiaf

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

stop looking an the stats an watch games, carmela is super overrated dude can’t pass or play good D he can score i’ll give him that but so can AL.are u still hoping the knicks get lebron,THESE NOT TO BRIGHT DELUSIONAL FANS

  • TobyKnight

    Ditto.
I’m going to church on Sunday to repent for idol worship.
    Make that Devil worship.
The worst part of Hell is the Heat.

  • TobyKnight

    LOL

  • Mal

LBJ made his choice lets move on and concentrate on beating that team. Like when the Beatles of Shaq, Karl Malone, Kobe, and Gary Payton got beat in the Finals.

I mentioned earlier if we were gonna try to pry CP3 or Collison from Hornents how about Posey as a rugged physical defender to put on Wade or Lebron or is his contract too ugly for us?

I also asked about Turiaf, I see alot of loev for him but what does he bring to the table?

I still want Amare at the 4 lets give J Jordan a shot as our Center. Randolph maybe a great off the bench guy he or Gallo. We still need a point guard.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

melo is another forward we need a good guard an at 11mil thats a super deal

but hey if u think CARMELA is what the knicks need it’s kool i see CARMELA as a 1 dimension player, take out billups an denver isn’t making the playoff or firstround exixt like CARMELA’S entire career exclude 2009-10

  • http://theknicksblog.com MiamiMoe

i am BOB…i will never doubt you again hommie!!
I would love to hear your thoughts on Amare…Plan B…and the idea of maybe an Amare, Gallo, & ARENAS team IF Melo signs extension and a trade isn’t possible…

  • TJPry
  • TobyKnight

    Gotta respect Riley.
It;s LBJ that deserves our scorn.

  • SilentJay

Yeah, in your scneario, clearly you give them whatever they ask if they’re actually wiilling to take back Curry’s contract (it should be a plus for them given that it’s an expiring contract).
I don’t see how Randoph can be the guy you kick the ball out for open 3′s since his jumpshot isn’t poished yet.
So it really comes down to, if NO’s dumb enough to want to give away Paul and is Walsh willing to part ways with Gallo (since he seems to be se precious to him).
I’d do it in a heartbeat, but if it could be done, I’d switch Randolph for Gallo.
    But hey, we can dream.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

where are the guys that was talking about signs lebron has been giving the past few years?

    where yall at..

delusional is what most knicks fans are an far from smart..
new school will give everything a bad name
an it’s these youngNz that have no clue.

go listen to drake or lil wayne..lmao..

  • Starksfor3

If I were Donnie Walsh, I wouldn’t eat Okafor’s fat contract unless the trade included Paul. Collison is maybe six feet and weighs about 160.

  • bb_dot

I share the sentiment in general. But I really think that this team as you list it, doesn’t only need but require a very good PG. Toney just doesnt cut it imo. Who can create his own shot here? D’Antoni claims Amar’e can and that they only played P/R in Phoenix because it made sense with Nash. I hope he is right and Amar’e can create with the ball in his hands. But that remains to be seen. Gallo can’t create and I haven’t seen much from Randolph to have an opinion. Chandler can definetely create his own shot but also settles way to easily for jumpers.

We need a smart distributor to have this team come together. maybe Ridnour is our best (realistic) call right now.

  • TobyKnight

Would do that deal, as Peja would replace Chandler for the year.

    Collision
    Azubuike
    Gallo
    Amare
    Turiaf

    2nd Team
    TD
    ??
    Peja
    Randolph
    Curry/Coleman

    Rautins
    Fields
    Garcia

  • gianthinker

Donnie Walsh needs to offer a multi-year deal to Kyle Korver. He’s one hell of a shooter and a guy we could use for this coming year and in the future. I actually think he’s better than Mike Miller. Hope DW goes after him.

  • SilentJay

In all fairnesss (although the guy has behaved himself in a terrible manner and is clearly a little girl when comes down to handling himself like a man), his bailing of Cleveland is as much his fault as it is Gilbert -great letter by the way, not very professional, though-.
Yeah, he could’ve gone to wherever the hell the wanted, but the way he handled himself wasn’t the proper way to go.

  • bb_dot

Malone and Payton were completely washed up and Kobe and Shaq hated each other’s gut. That team self imploded. Quite a different scenario than Miami..

  • Mal

Carmelo has been in the playoffs from day one, he is not one dimensional, he has picked up his defense, he is rebounding better, he is seeing the floor better. With a good point guard he is fine and lets not forget if Denver would have been in the East they would have went far blame that on a good spurs team and other teams that were in their prime when Melo came aboard. What was it the third year for Lebron to even make the playoffs.
My opinion so no agrument just how I feel bout Melo

  • gianthinker

No offense but you’re so negative no one cares what you hear.

  • Mucha

I think we’re one piece away from being an exciting team that’ll make the playoffs.

  • brookdon

He has to win at least 8 championships and 4 championship mvps before i consider him in the top ten greatest players of alltime.

  • brookdon

Haha he needs at least 8 to recement his legacy.

  • jarvis

I can’t respect Riley. He faxed his resignation to the Knicks and took the easy way out. Lebron is just as bad for following that example.

  • brookdon

I am 90% Paul will go to the Heat. I can see Riley pulling off a trade for him. He wants to play with Lebron.

  • Mal

I will be at the Thomas & Mack Monday to see the new recruits vs the Lakers.

What rugged defender ala Artest, do we need for Lebron and Wade, I keep thinking Posey. Are there any young Sepholosa(sp) out there

  • bb_dot

honestly, what does it take to get the rights for Rubio? Damn it..

  • SilentJay

Didn’t they get off the luxury tax after their trade in the draft?
I’ve read that Paul wants to win now and if he doesn’t think he can do it there he’ll ask for a trade, but I don’t think NO would make it easy to him or any team, and while Curry’s contract certainly is attractive from a financial standpoint, they’ll want something that can really make them a team as good as they’re now, or almost as good, so, again, I don’t know if our pieces are what they’ll want, if that trade was an actual possibility.

  • NYknicks

We need to get Parker over here this year and then hope that melo will come here next year like most reports indicate. Even Felton is a solid option at the point.

  • Dylan

Then we get rid of Chandler and Gallo if we need to. Melo is arguably THE BEST scorer in the NBA. Ellis is insanely overrated. He took more shots per game than Kobe, LeBron, Melo, Durant, and Wade last year. Ellis is way more like Chucketts than Melo. He takes HORRIBLE shots, plus he doesn’t have a good outside shot. I really don’t want Ellis.

  • Lebris Jamosh aka ridiculous upside

Read this in Bill Simmons’ mailbag and it was well said:

“He was abandoned as a kid, if you see his high school documentary, you see all he wants to do is be a part of something, not be something. He just wants to be a part of a group and be wanted. We’ve just all along wished he was wired for greatness. He’s not. And it’s a shame.”

  • brookdon

I like our position we have good young talent and tradeable assets

  • adizzle

If we offer Kyle Lowry a front-loaded deal how can the Rockets match? Aren’t they already right at the salary cap?

  • Lebris Jamosh aka ridiculous upside

How many times you gonna beat a dead horse with this “I told you so”? Yes, yes we get it. Now shut your self-important dumbass up. You add nothing.

  • SilentJay

No way that can happen with Paul’s current salary. Not a chance.

  • mustarda

He’s not what the whole planet thought he was… a KING. He’s just not. His priorities are pretty simple and modest.

  • Dylan

    SpearsNBAYahoo:
Knicks close to signing pg Raymond Felton to multi-year deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

  • mustarda

That would be the National Team franchise.

  • gianthinker

I’m still holding out hope we sign Raja Bell. We could really use his defense and experience in the D’Antoni system.

  • mustarda

    Man your pretty realist, congrats

  • SilentJay

Well, with swappable picks for the next 2 years, it seems tough to rebuild since it’d be a lot to ask Houston to have a record worse than ours.
Since we have flexibility and room to grow, having clean picks with no commitments would’ve been the perfect combination, but life’s not perfect.
In any case, if we can get picks back for any trades made from now on I’ll be glad, but if there are trades out there that don’t constitute as crazy and we can get a great player out here, I’m all for it.

  • Newyorksridaman

I would lke to say that Lebron turning us down worked out for the better. Im reallly loving the Golden State trade.

Ronny Turiaf- High Energy, Rugged, Tough, Defender, Blocker
Kellena Azuibuike- Rugged, Defender, Three Point Shooter
Anthony Randolph-Shot Blocker, Handle, Mid range, Agile

If you ask me, I say Donnie got a great deal.
    STARTING LINEUP AS OF 7/9/2010

    Stoudemire
    Turiaf

    Bench:

    Jordan
    Curry

Need to sign a PG next.

    Alston
    J. Will
    Ridnour
    Felton

Great Job Donnie, I see what you’re doing. Keep it up.
    Knicks 4 Life!!!!!

  • brookdon

Its sad because with the right sidekick he could have been great. He could have been Jordan. but he took the easy route to a championship. He says he knows alot about the history of the nba. He must surely know it took jordan 7 years to win it all

  • SilentJay

riley’s smart as hell, but he’s got absolutely no integrity, sorry.
    Can’t respect him.

  • SilentJay

    Lol.
You seriously dislike the guy, man.

  • brookdon

I have mixed feelings about a possible Felton signing…..

  • Dylan

Same. Not sure its a good move long term, but it definitely helps us this year. It depends how big his contract is.

  • ds2488

DaGawd, to be fair Lebron has “flirted” with NY for 2 years now. He’s the one who told fans they could sleep until July 2010 because it would be a big day.

Truth is Lebron is just like a young child..He needs all the attention he can possibly get.

  • ScottD
  • SilentJay

    Rubio can’t play unti 2011-12.
Why don’t we talk about him by then?

  • gohard83

    +1

  • BernardTheRealKing

Best line-up/idea yet. I refuse to give up Gallo. Although a bit overrated, Okafor would be a nice complement to Amar’e's game. He wouldn’t need to score with that lineup anyway.

  • SilentJay

Imho, the immediate need is a solid, solid PG.
Amare works at best with a good facilitator, and we all know that.
We’ve no idea how Douglas will come back this season, but I don’t tihnk he’ll be quite ready. Will he be someday? I hope so, I like his intensity and aggressiveness.

  • bob go knicks

hi moe whats cookin? long time no hear.(R U MOCKING ME? LOL)

  • bob go knicks

If all you get outta this is “I TOLD YOU SO”then it is your I.Q that needs a boost my friend. In the mean time, send me up a dozen steamed “JIMMIES” xtra spicy

  • SilentJay

Oh man, I hope that’s not true. Felton isn’t the PG we need. Not to run this system.
If they give them the number’s he’s looking for it wouldn’t be a good get imho.

  • bigknicka

Hey RealGM just gave the knicks a B on the trade and the warriors a D+ ….. I feel a lill better now

  • tennysonbass

Doesn’t last night completely play into the owners hands for next years collective bargaining agreement? I am shocked that no one has talked about this more. What bargaining chip or argument can the players union even attempt to use now. Two of the top three players in the league taking less than minimum does not aid and in my opinion kills the idea that players should get paid more. All the owners have to do is say hey Lebron and Wade are living of less, everyone should get paid less than them.

This has a monumental effect on the league, perhaps even weakening the players argument to the point of preventing a solid lockout.

This is my NBA conspiracy, Stern, (who already has officials determine the outcomes of games to the leagues benfit), has cap raised just enough to get these three together, does it in a way that balances the conference power by consolidating the stars of the east, weakening the arguement for higher cap and salaries for players to the point a work stoppage does not occur, thus saving the league from a black eye moment at the end of this collective bargaining agreement.

The NBA may or may not want Miami to win, but it sure as hell allowed these three to play together, why is the Minnesota GM taking Beasly? to make the t’wolves better? perhaps, or perhaps because he already has a horrible reputation and its believeable that he is the owner to take the fall for the other owners come next CBA

    make sense to anyone else?
im sure my theory has plenty of flaws but let me hear them, i think this point is being overlooked
and it has a huge impact on the future of the NBA for off the court reasons more so than on

  • bb_dot

hey Silent Jay, how about we trade for Rubio?…

    sorry but I couldnt resist..

  • bb_dot

if he has anything left in his tank I would be all for it. We need some grit here

  • bb_dot

some points are well taken. I thought to myself as well that it is odd that the cap was raised just enough for this to happen and so late in the game on top of it. Is this normal? Could Riles and Stern be concocting this? But then again, if Stern believes that this Miami team will help the NBA, he may be dead wrong. Imagine an Eastern Conference with the Knicks having Bron/Amar’e, Miami with Wade/Bosh, Orlando and the Celtics still in the mix. These teams would generate some exciting rivalries and keep everybody on the edge of their seats. Instead everybody will hate on Miami and hope for injuries. Parity in sport is a great thing and so is rivalry. Putting the best three Players (well, Bosh is not top 3 but top 10)in one team may be actually bad for business. Who wants to see the Harlem Globe Trotters eighty times a season?

dude, are you even a Knicks fan?

having read this blog for the past 2 or so years, I can vouch for the fact that bob go knicks has been the most consistently vocal opponent for Lebron coming here.

Though honestly, I’d say that a good number of people (though maybe not the majority) didn’t care if he came here or not as long as we got two other stars. A lot of the LEBRON MUST COME TO NY people were the ones who said that Donnie would be a failure if he couldn’t get Lebron to come to NY.

Personally, I’m glad Lebron isn’t here, I’m in the camp that wanted Melo over Lebron but would settle for either or.

Either way, move on people. Everyone was so dead set on Rubio coming here, but we got over that. And then when Minny got Sessions, we got over that too. We’re still waiting on the Knicks to get a point guard, but we still have some flexibility and the season doesn’t start for a few more months, so let’s sit tight rather than panic like Stan Van Gundy.
