    …Guess he was speechless.

  • donnie_brasco

    my man! lol

  • newromecity

    telling it like it is

  • Myles A. Mills

Spike Lee’s impression of a scared Knick fan was hilarious

    “Oh my gawd”

  • boogie down

    Spike’s the man.

I do think we have a decent-to-good shot of getting Melo, whether at some point this year (I know Denver insists he won’t be traded) or via free agency. One thing that does give me serious pause, however, is the new CBA. Nobody, famous or obscure, rich or poor, likes leaving money on the table and he’d be willfully abandoning a pretty significant chunk of change by not agreeing to sign an extension. The truly murky, and by some indications, ominous nature of the rumors circulating about the new CBA makes me wonder if we are as attractive to Melo as we possibly could be. I’ve heard from various outlets that he’d love to play in NYC, but money talks, loud and clear. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, I don’t see how it enhances our prospects of getting him.

  • Dylan

Remember, he would make WAY more money off the court playing in NY. He would get a ton of endorsements.

  • boogie down

Ha, just realized that “…and by some indications, ominous nature of the rumors circulating about the new CBA…” implies that there’s rumors about the rumors surrounding the pending CBA.

No need for me to have added the “and by some indications” part.

  • mustarda

He’s not as hyped as Lebron used to be in the first part of his career… but that’s true.

  • KnickFan4Life

Spike is cool, but I don’t always love how chummy he is with opposing players that routinely embarass us, i.e. Lebron, Jordan, Miller…

  • http://theknicksblog.com MiamiMoe

+1 thats exactly what i was thinking…$$$Mad$$$Money$$$ in endorsements PLUS his new wife would be happier in NY cuz she won’t take off career wise in Denver but her career will take off in NY…and like the saying says…
A Happy Wife is a Happy Life…melo is in the bag i think..but if not..F it, one thing this process has taught me is not to get excitied about no one…We got Amare and great pieces thats what i’m excited about
    GO KNICKS!!!

  • boogie down

Very true. Yesterday, I heard someone (a host, not a caller) on WFAN mention that Melo could reasonably expect to make roughly $500M by playing for us. While that’s not the $1.9B figure that was being attached to LeCoward, it’s more than enough to grab a firm hold of someone’s attention. If we can win 38-45 games, as some projections have us doing, and get into the playoffs as a 7/8 seed, joining the Knicks would have to be a very enticing proposition for Melo to consider.

  • Mucha

I actually believe that Miami’s a great fit.

LeBron James doesn’t deserve to play in front of a sell-out crowd.

  • mustarda

People do not forget to keep on hating.

  • jg1170

    “keep on hating”

    He’s not worth the effort.

+17,730 — that was Miami’s average attendance last year for the East’s 5th-seeded team that won 57% of its games… they were 15th in the league in attendance and, on average, only filled 90.5% of their seats

we, on the other hand, were 5th in the league w/ an avg attendance of 19,501 (98.7% of capacity), despite finishing 5th-TO-LAST (11th) in the East and losing nearly 65% of our games. Though we endured another major suckfest, especially after a very promising December, we went out in droves because we know what it means to be true basketball fans.

    – I’m on a horse. (And a pretty high one at that)

  • grahambo86

I am so geared and ready for the season! I hope Gallo brings it every night but also right in LBJ’s face like he did against Melo last season!

    Any new updates on Melo?

  • grahambo86

James left his home, it’s time for Melo to come back home.

  • Hydr0

I hate to be a bummer here, but I don’t know if I can take 12 months of talking about how Melo is a lock. I can’t see any reason that Denver trades him this season and he probably will sign that extension this season.

When was the last time a superstar in his mid 20s was traded before his contract ended anyway? Did it ever happen? Anyone?

I think that Melo is a longshot. Sad, but true.

  • tsertain

Dont like it either. Never did. But that’s just a sign of the good sportsmen New Yorkers are, that they have respect for others. Personally, I agreed with the cheering of Lebron to lure him here, but since it didnt work out, I despise the guy. Would not have despised him if he chose Cleveland or the Clippers. Would have anyway if he chose Nets or Bulls.

  • KnickFan4Life

    THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING!!!

  • joon8

Only way we get Melo is if he forces a trade this season & we extend him. No way he makes it to free agency next year. Not only did Lebron screw his hometown & a bunch of other NBA cities by how he handled this fiasco but he screwed his fellow players. Owners & Stern are pissed by the way this played out. Things are gonna be a lot different for the players next year and anyone who can sign an extension this season will do so regardless of who its with.

  • HaS

Knicks fans are too dumb to stop going to the games, no matter how high Dolan raises the prices lol.

  • tsertain

You guys cant forget that the media plays a large role in players coming to NY.

As reported by some, it’s possible that Lebron feared failing in front of the piranha NY scumbag media. And most of the NY media are not like Tommy Dee – Dee who wants to see the Knicks succeed. Most want us to fail.

Also, all the stuff going around about how every other destination for Lebron was better and that how playing in NY “wouldnt help him make any more media.”

Even though all of that, Im personally convinced that Lebron had the Heat planned the whole time because he is indeed a quitter who cannot hack it on his own. And although he would have made us an instant contender, it’s my belief that we never would have won anything with him either, because he’s a quitter.

  • HaS

C’mon man I appreciate the entusiasm, but why set yourself up for disappointment?

Carmelo torched Gallinari for most of that game and the Nuggets had a really good shot at winning that game toward the end, but they didn’t play well at all without Karl on the sideline down the stretch of the regular season.

LeBron will still kill Gallinari no matter how much of a Knicks villain he has now become.

  • tsertain

Sorry, the quote was that Lebron “wouldnt make any more money” playing in NY.

His money will be made “internationally”

  • Tommy Dees Bodyguard

    well… being that he’s a sell-out himself…

  • adornoj1

Check this Tweet out: Per Draft Express

Russian center Timofey Mozgov will sign a three year, 9.7 million dollar contract with the New York Knicks. Knicks will pay Khimki 500k USD.

instead of bringing Isiah Thomas back why not bring Spike Lee to be the GM?

  • adornoj1

Mozgov doesnt have any individual highlights it seems on Youtube, but just actual full length games…

  • Hydr0

Melo put up 36 against Gallo that night, but Gallo’s 28 was the big story…I guess to the winner goes the spoils…anyway, it’s hard to say that Gallo “shut him down”…I can’t see putting Gallo on Lebron anyway, Chandler will be the lucky guy to get that match up…Who covers Wade btw? Ugh, the reality is starting to set in LOL

It’s gonna be a tough night.

However, I can see Amar’e beating up Bosh all night long…we’ll be lucky if we win one of those Heat games

  • adornoj1

Mozgov has been rated DraftExpress’ #1 International Free Agent prospect for the past two years. Big, strong athletic center w/nice upside.

  • bob go knicks

Did you hear about the new LBJ phone? You have to leave it on vibrate because it has no ring!

  • jarvis

I disagree. If the owners and Stern were truly pissed, this would have never happened. Period.

  • HaS

Oh and you guys are nuts if you think those Miami games won’t be sold out.

  • HaS

“anyway, it’s hard to say that Gallo “shut him down””

    LMAO

“it’s hard to say” because it didn’t happen.

  • Mucha

    LMAO

  • Mucha

    I was JK

But in 2 years I think some games will not be sold out

  • Mucha

    Hilarious
