We need a few more bruisers to beat up on Wade, LeBron, and Bosh, to make them pay if they come into the paint. Who else can we bring in specifically to stop those guys?

Knicks will be back. Let’s have faith! We’ll bring it to the three queens. We can reunite Tony Parker with Turiaf for a French revolution. We got youth, potential, draft picks, depth and heart. Give Walsh credit for cleaning house. LePrince could have joined us, but he couldn’t handle leadership in NYC. His loss. Next up: Melo and we got ourselves a contender.
    14 on the Roster=
    PG Felton/TD//Rautins
    SG Walker/Chandler/ Azubuike
    SF Gallo/ Fields
    PF Stoudemire/Randolph
    C Turiaf/Jordan/EC/Barron (let’s sign him)

Chris Paul/Okafor are out of reach but Tony Parker and Melo want in. Parker has 1 year left, they may lose him for nothing.

Trade-Chandler+TD for Parker+Picks. Spurs get youth, we get a champion still in his prime.

EC goes for Melo to join the following year. Maybe we see Gallo or Randolph go too in S&T.

    Knicks 2010-2011

    Parker/Felton
Walker/Azubuike/Rautins (Makes up for 3′s of Gallo)
    Melo/Fields
    Stoudemire/Randolph
    Barron/Turiaf/Jordan

A small lineup of Parker/Walker/Melo/Stoudemire/Randolph would be fast and would bring killer offense.

I think Fields will also surprise with his athleticism. I call steal!

Knicks fans shouldn’t get to attached to any player not named Amare because it seems as if walsh is assembling talent for a block buster. I wouldn’t be suprised at all if something big went down before the season. I do however like all the new additions coupled with the fact the Knicks have flexability going foward. Things look promising for a change in NY. BTW Lebron dissapointed me not by snubbing NY but because I really liked him as a player and thouht he was a leader who would build a great legacy. I was clearly wrong. I am excited about building a rival to Miami. Can’t imagine CP3 and Melo resigning with their teams unless there was a major trade. Expect to see CP3 and Melo both leave with one going to the Nets and the other the Knicks.

  • DinnerDog

Does anyone know if there is a site that updates each teams salary obligations with all these moves. Im curious as to whether the Nets can compete with us for Mello next year or at the trade deadline this year. Not sure how much the Outlaw/Petro contracts bite into that.

Yeah they will be shopping next year if they don’t land Paul or Melo through trade this summer. I really believe based on logic and certain rumors that they will land Paul and NY will land Melo by summers end. It’s just that if both teams don’t wait then it will cost them big time with talent or cap space by absorbing bad contracts.

  • bb_dot

    tommy? ..short vacation, huh?

  • Mucha

I’m not a “fan” of the Raymond Felton signing but I like the fact that we aquired a veteran point guard who’ll help Amare Stoudemire – because Amare needs one. I think he was a better option than Flynn or Collison because he’s a proven point guard.

bruisers? sorry this is not the 90′s knicks that were dirty cheap shot artists. wrong team wrong era

  • Big Poppa Smurf

Mucha, I’m putting this here (yet again) in the hopes that it might get you more excited for the Felton signing. I think there’s good cause for legitimate excitement with Felton on NYK.

Guys, before you let yourselves become too jaded that Ray Felton is our 2nd “big” free agent signing after two years of slashing payroll and our starting PG next year, consider this: in his first five seasons, Steve Nash’s career averages were only 9.1 points per game and 4.6 assists per game. If you stretch out that time frame to include all eight of Nash’s seasons before he hooked up with D’Antoni in Phoenix, even then Nash’s career averages were only 12.5 points per game and 6.1 assists per game. Both sets of Nash’s stats are trumped by Ray Felton’s career averages to date of 13.3 points per game and 6.5 assists per game, even though Felton has almost exclusively played in slow, half-court offenses. Nash’s career highs before joining D’Antoni were 17.9 points per game (in year 6) and 8.8 assists per game (in year 8), both of which occurred while he was playing Nellie-ball in Dallas; Felton’s highs to date are 14.4 points per game and 7.4 assists per game (both in year 3, before Larry Brown’s grind-it-out offense came to town and slowed up Felton the past two years).

My point is this; Felton is faster than Nash ever was and a better defender than Nash could ever be. Felton’s career numbers compare VERY favorably to Nash’s pre-D’Antoni numbers. Felton comes from a championship pedigree at UNC and is a tough, sound, athletic player. He doesn’t have Nash’s jumpshot (yet, anyways), but he’s a speedster who can run the fastbreak or slash his way into the paint, and I feel very strongly that he can run D’Antoni’s offense with great proficiency. Nash left Dallas to go play with Amar’e, Marion and Joe Johnson under D’Antoni in Phoenix and wound up having an MVP season while the offense put up video game numbers. Like Nash in 2004, Felton is going to have Amar’e, and he’s going to have athletic finishers in Anthony Randolph and Wilson Chandler along with a shooter in Gallinari. The potential explosiveness of the Knicks offense next season is off the charts right now.

So as bummed out as you might be right now, look at the numbers and other facts I’ve set out and don’t be surprised if Felton’s putting up 18 point, 11 assist games regularly next season while the Knicks’ offense kicks butt up-and-down the court on its way to 45+ wins.

And I’ll add here that after next season, I think most people will be happy that we got Ray Felton instead of Tony Parker. Write it down.

Very interesting – thanks for the reply.

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

    I like our foundation.

  • duhon the goat

I will say this about the Knicks new roster…we got some feisty, prideful guys who got skills. Im so done with the Al Harringtons, the Duhons, Larry the bum Hughes

PG-Felton-played in a slow *** system, this is the first system he will play in where he can run the court finally utilizing his speed. Imagine him barreling down the lane like Derrick Rose…in this system im not even joking. oh…and hes a pretty good on ball defender too.

SG-Will the thrill-hopefully hes learned from his mistakes, puts down the blunt for awhile, and focuses and stops playing soft then we all know what he’s capable of.

SF-Rooster- Da Gallo man fits in line with Will in that he needs to make improvements and steps forward now. I love when he’s draining threes and you see his confidence building, that’s all he needs every night..CONFIDENCE.

PF-”That’s Amare!”, Amare in 60- I gotta watch those two shows i still cant believe he got his own shows…that’s pretty awesome. nuff said.

C-Jerome Jordan is preferred choice to start, but we also have ANT RANDOLPH who im sure everyone on here knows just how great he can be…So Ant Rand at the 4 and Amare at center.

  • fauci933

Good article and comments…seems like we’re getting a class act and a tough kid…I like it.

By the way, not sure if anyone’s ever seen this, but it’s Gary Payton talking about Brandon Jennings, and it’s hilarious.

  • duhon the goat

ok I got carried away with saying Felton can explode like Derrick Rose, but he’s pretty crafty at getting into those lanes, can dunk (personally I think that’s pretty cool the thought of a New York Knick point guard throwing it down),good finsher, and he’s fast.really fast. He’s a ball hawk too, great on-ball defender. I’m happy we signed him.

  • dino2008

jerome jordan is not going to start. when have you seen a 7 footer chosen in the second round start on a team who should contend for the playoffs. reports have said anthony randolph has gained 20 lbs and is up to 240.

i would go with randolph a the 5. i love this kid. i think the sky is the limit for this kid. more than all star potential, hall of famer potential. he is only 20 turning 21. this was a phenomenal phenomenal trade. i think randolph is a center in mikes system at 240 lbs. obviousally he will play the 4 as well.

i like the felton signing. thank God we have a young yet veteran pg who can control an offense.

    Undressed by Jameer Nelson

  • duhon the goat

and your point is? He’s on your team now, he’s an underrated PG. If he played in a more uptempo system like this one, he wouldn’t lose momentum on both ends of the floor like he did in the Charlotte series against the Magic.

    LMAO

    “Woof Woof mahfukker!!”

  • Knicksfan42793

    From Chris Broussard twitter

Knicks Prez Donnie Walsh told me today that Isiah Thomas will be among Knicks GM candidates if they make a hire

    uh oh

  • fauci933

“You playin’ street ball…I LIIIKE IT!”

    Funniest video I’ve ever seen.

  • duhon the goat

cmon that’s from Broussard cant be true….right? Please tell me this is Broussard messing with the Knicks again please…

  • fauci933

I saw this…it has to be Walsh just trying to be nice because Isiah tried to help with the Free Agency situation…no way he can actually be considering this, too many steps forward to take one monumental one back.

  • JeffM729

I really can’t see D’Antoni starting a center. Look at Darko and Eddy Curry last year, nothing.

    Amare will play center as he did in Phoenix. Look for him to start this lineup;

    Amare
    Gallo
    Chandler
    Felton
and the next best 3 point shooter

    2004-05 Phoenix Suns

54-14 when starting, Amare, Nash, Q-Rich, Joe Johnson, Marion

    2006-07 Phoenix Suns

41-7 when starting Amare, Diaw, Nash, Bell, Marion

    That’s the best of speedball.

    You can check out all the Phoenix Starting Lineups;

i know most of you may laugh at me, but i want walsh to make a one year offer to Mcgrady. He can start at the 2 and I think after a whole offseason of resting and getting back into shape, he could be a steal. i know he was not happy here, but still lets give it a try.

    felton
    mcgrady
    gallo
    amare
    randolph

  • JeffM729

    This is the most up to date around, but they still don’t have all the contracts yet;

    Chris_Broussard:
Knicks Prez Donnie Walsh told me today that Isiah Thomas will be among Knicks GM candidates if they make a hire

Why did I know this would happen? Eh…as long as he has to answer to Donnie, its not the worst thing in the world. He is much better at evaluating young talent, and players love him. If he gets to make any big decisions though, the Knicks are in trouble.

  • bartnyk

My point is it’s a bad signing sell yourself on him if you want to be delusional. I won’t

  • dino2008

if its a one year deal it wont count against the precious cap for melo next year. im all for trying it.

    I think T-Mac is toxic

Despite the fact that his first game at the garden is one of my best sports memories

  • Dave the Rave

Hold off on starter projections for Randolph. He is still very immature and green, not used to the spotlight and big city, loses the plot on offense and will drive D’A crazy at times like he did Nellie, has always been very inconsistent, and he had major ankle probs earlier this year with surgery, and if D’A sits him down watch him pout. If he gained 30# who knows if his legs can handle it? But when he turns it on with shot blocking the Garden will go nuts. His motor is a 10.

  • Dave the Rave

Yeah, if that’s true, it’s only because Dumbass Dolan is still paying him millions to do nothing, so they try to make it look like he’s in the loop. Doubtful.

  • Dave the Rave

What is T-Mac up to? Any reports? Working out? Knee better? If it’s better I don’t think he’s done.

  • POLO_ADDICT

nahhh. i could see him coming off the bench at best but not to start…..

  • blackwood

Thats right Mike we need to control the paint and the boards against these more dynamic & talented teams.

  • HaS

    I think _’antoni is toxic.

    Where’s x-man lol?

  • blackwood

Ur buggin!! lol T-crack is finished.

  • HaS

Anyone who didn’t already know that already isn’t very basketball savvy.

    1. Kobe
    2. Wade
    3. LeBron (needs to become more of a leader)
    4. Carmelo (needs to be a better defender)

  • HaS

    Dolan is being cheap.

  • duhon the goat

lol how can I be delusional when he already proved he’s a capable pg who has even more upside in this system?

  • cms9675

The one thing this off season should have taught people is to stop salivating over other teams stars. Just because its new york, we shouldn’t assume that everybody wants to play here. Yeah, this is the best place to play and i’m sure melo, cp3 and tp can all thrive here but don’t get your hopes up. It just might not happen. So instead of wishing for other teams players take a good look at who we have and you’ll see they’re pretty damn good. I think this off season was a damn good one. We picked up Amare, Randolph, Felton and turiaf. These players bring heart and toughness to this team and for all that David Lee was from his scoring/rebounding to his hustle/hard work. The one thing missing was toughness. Nobody was worried about the guy, they were just worried about stopping our shooters. Now we have Amare and Randolph, nobody can camp out on our shooters now so defenses beware. I know there are some of you guys that can’t help but be cautious and i don’t blame you guys, because the last ten years have been pretty bad, but this year looks to be different. Donnie has assembled a team that looks damn good. With Amare, turiaf, Gallo, azubuike and Felton on this team i think toughness is one thing that will not be a problem for us. Nobody is coming in here and punkin’ us anymore.
