Knicks Lakers Highlights

  • duhon the goat

didnt hit me how bad I wanted Lebron on the Knicks until today when I played ball. Always tried to model my game after him, now I feel sick to my stomach trying to play like Lebron. Anyway summer league, Landry Fields looking like an NBA vet. just kidding, he’s playing pretty solid, maybe im not kidding.

  • duhon the goat

dont kill me for saying this but does Fields remind anyone else of Paul Pierce? They seem to have the same repertoire and skill set.

  • bb_dot

didn’t see the game. Did Jordan play better today?

  • scarfacebaj19

Like i said before- Fields looks to be the best player on the Knicks Summer League Roster! Consistent, High IQ, Good scorer without having to rely on shooting 3′s, nice rebounder, good defense.
He shot 6 for 8 yesterday and 7 for 11 today, combined days shooting at 68%.
He had 17 pts, 5 rebs., 3 stl., and 2 blks.

  • lomaz88

i see fields as a josh howard type. howard was also a pretty late pick so who knows.

  • lomaz88

minus the pot of course. let’s hope.

  • scarfacebaj19

not a bad comparison! If he turns into anything close to Pierce- WOW what a I find!

  • scarfacebaj19

Jordan had a much improved day! Still has a long way to go though! He had a bunch of blocks and a number of nice dunks- specifically on a couple of nice fake give and goes- where he faked giving the ball back to the guard, turned, dribbled and dunked the ball- did that 2X

  • dreamer3kx

I really like this Fields kid, he looks like really smooth with a high b ball IQ

  • breaker123

I always have trouble logging in. Does that happen to anyone else?

  • bb_dot

thanks scarface. I was hoping for a bounce-back from him. Let’s see how Mozgov will compare..

  • Mucha

I always have to wait 30 seconds after loggin in to post my comments. Just wait a few seconds or refresh the page a couple times and you’ll be fine

  • brookdon

I can’t watch any of the Games.

What was the final score? From waht you saw who had the best performance ( on the knicks)? Worst?

  • NYknicks

Fields looked really good today and I am starting to like the pick I was killing Donnie for the most. He looks like a pretty good find.

  • scarfacebaj19

Fields clearly had the best performance- read my post above for details! Yesterday Walker probably had the worst performance, but he had a good bounce back day today. Cant really say who was the worst today- we won and no one really looked horrible! I say just about everyone that is important that played showed something good. They are all young, so they all had their moments of rookie/young mistakes.

  • JaymanJD

Still would have liked lance stephenson who is a SG and is tearing it up.

  • HaS

The team played much better defensively and didn’t settle on a boatload of threes the way this “offense” can sometimes. All of the guys seemed to settle in a little better today especially Jordan and Walker. Rautins may end up on the Heat or the Lakers, he is useless without a star to create for him. I like his effort level though he gets his hands on balls and at least tries to make his presence known on the defensive end, I can live with that.

Feilds reminds me of a cross between Doug Christie and Matt Barnes. Strangely enough they both played for the Knicks in the past. He should stick as a 10th man, too bad the “coach” only goes 7.5 deep (pause).

I think Pat Ewing Jr. is going to be a casualty of the numbers game again, it’s a shame because he looks a lot more comfortable on the floor than he did last time he was on the Knicks Summer League and Preseason.

  • scarfacebaj19

Yeah I’m with you! We should of taken Stephenson instead of Rautins! All Rautins can do is shoot 3′s! His PG skills have looked awful so far- couple of fast breaks he just threw the ball away- one of them he threw into his teammates back. Stephenson has been playing some PG and has looked amazing- penetrating at will- he just has to stay healthy- got banged up a couple of times.

  • brookdon

Thank you. I hope Fields suprises us all, that pick pissed me off on draft night.

  • brookdon

    Or Willie Warren.

  • Ftingue

Yeah I know what you mean because I always tried to model my game after Wade, SMH

  • itzyung1

It Was Good To See Jerome Jordan Contest Everything!
He needs to rebound better though Ill Say That but his timing and contesting shots is there.
I Heard Mosgov worked out for the coaches today ad everybody loved him!
I Wanna See Both Before I say this but we actually have serviceable centers now! Ca you believe it.

  • donnie_brasco

lebron? mimic your game more towards kobe (finess), lebron is a decent shooter and has limited handle, his drive to the basket is crazy but overall i would follow kobe

  • Ftingue

This was more of a Defensive game, I really like the versatility of the team coming form a shootout high scoring game. Hope the big Knicks could do the same. Oh and on the note, we lost the high scoring game but won the defensive game, hmmm I hope that tells Mike Dee something.

  • scarfacebaj19

Yeah its been a few years since we had some legit 7′ center prospects. Both of them are athletic, long and lengthy; then add in the veteran in Turiaf for more of that brute/bulky type of center. Its a nice trio of centers.

  • iceman88

I’m sorry but just no to everything about Patrick Ewing Jr. He just isn’t good enough to make an NBA roster and if he does it would be at best the 12th man. If he wasn’t Patrick Ewing’s son nobody here would ever talk about him favorably, he has no game.

  • scarfacebaj19

who picked up willie warren? has he played in any of the summer league games yet? if so how has he done?

  • Melo2NYplz

I love how everyones on Landry Fields meat now

i still cant get over the rautins pick.

why not stephenson why not ebanks why rautins

  • HATEHEAT

Man – The more we learn about ol’ Lebron the more of a jerk he sounds like.

LeBron James has been very active in his attempts to recruit players to come play for the Heat.

“LeBron has done more recruiting in the last five days than he did in the last three years,” said one Western Conference executive.

James acted like a bystander during most of his time with the Cavaliers, most notably declining to give a commitment to free agent Trevor Ariza during the summer of 2009.

So LBJ never went out of his way to try to recruit guys to Cleveland and no he goes balls out to get folks for the HATE.
    That is just LAME.
That whole business of him trying to get Bosh to Cleveland, but Bosh not wanting to go to Cleveland was just a fuggin charade!
Dude played everyone. Is it any wonder Gilbert went ape sheet on him? Oh, right, that was because Lebron was an African-American. Thanks Jesse.

    LOL.

  • JeffM729

Yeah on the D. Nuggets shot 56%, Knicks lose. Lakers shoot 33%, Knicks win. Much better job of defending in the paint and not fouling, but still contesting.

Jordan didn’t look too bad. He still needs work and should probably play in the D league to get experience, but he isn’t a stiff.

Rautins hasn’t been shooting well and that’s about the extent of his game. He’s OK passing and defending, but not looking like he can stick in the NBA. Europe maybe his place to play.

Everyone is raving about the big Russian, hopefully he’s more than talk. Alan Hahn was saying he a “big” 7-1, which must be impressive. I’d love to see him go Ivan Drago on Dwight “Apollo Creed” Howard.

  • row

why would he recruit Ariza knowing he was probably on his way out the next year. “Yeah, Trevor, Cleveland is a GREAT city! You’ll love it here!” fast forward one year. “Yeah, sorry man, I’m bouncing. Good luck in this hell hole though!”

  • JeffM729

I hate to use the word, but Fields has intangibles. He needs to get a bit more under control, but he is flying all over the court. You just have to like this kid. He has made me a believer.

  • duhon the goat

I havent seen Stephenson play yet but it sounds like he’s playing pretty good, maybe some Tyreke Evans in him, but honestly would you want that on your team? I mean unless he turns out to be exactly Tyreke Evans and I highly doubt that he will just hog up more possessions that can go to other players, imagine Rautins dropping threes off the bench like it’s his birthday, I guarantee the Garden will go crazy for that. A Syracuse product too? yes sir.

  • dreamer3kx

The guys a fraud, plain and simple, he will be the most hated NBA player for years, his image is totally shot, he’s not Jordan, he’s not Kobe and like the great Clyde Frazier said “He took the easy way out”.

  • Hunter79

Fields is definitely a good pick, I like the facet that he plays both sides of the court and seems to have the speed and strength to guard multiple positions. He also has a lot of ways to score and surprisingly quick, he actually beat TD up court on the break. I think it will be hard for MD to keep him out of the rotation. As for Rautins, I think his shot will eventually start falling the thing I like is he has a quick release and seem to be comfortable using the screen and getting his shot off. Also he seems to make a commitment on defense, yesterday and today he actually tryed to help defend on the opposing center which actually stopped them from getting and easy point eventhough the foul called, I definitely appreciate the effort.

  • Jeff C

Who cares about lebron and the heat, i’m over it. All i’m thinking about now is the prospect of watching a close playoff game next may.

Jerome Jordan was extremely impressive today. All of his physical attributes are NBA ready (height, size, strength, mobility) and he almost gets a hand on everything. Definitely the most impressive knick today. Fields was really good also though.

  • duhon the goat

I wish I could be Kobe lol. your right on all those things on Lebron but he’s a steamrolling train coming down the lanes, an excellent passer, and he makes everybody around him better. ok enough about Lebron im done with him. I’m gonna Parcells him, I’m just gonna call him “SF on the Heat”.

  • JeffM729

I’m feeling really ancient. I modeled my game after Bill Bradley. But on the bright side of things, I’m now old enough that they pay me not to work.

  • HaS

Dan Gilbert is an idiot. Point blank.

If Carmelo came out and said I want to play for the Knicks no one here would be calling him a douche for turning his back on the team that drafted him.

If LeBron had made “The Decision” (still cracks me up) everyone here would have been just as ecstatic as the Miami fans and welcomed the kid with open arms.

It is what it is, Pat Riley did a hell of a job recruiting and those 3 guys wanted to play together. It doesn’t make them gay or whatever else so many of you have had a grand old time calling them.

In the last days before “The Decision” (lol) a lot of people here wondered if maybe the Knicks could get Wade and LeBron to go along with Amar’e would they have been gay then? SMH. If the Knicks are able to team 3 stars in Carmelo, Paul and Amar’e together will that be “cheating”, “bad for the NBA” or “gay?

C’mon guys try to be impartial I know it’s hard because we love the Knicks and want to be in that upper echelon of team, but we can be fair. No?

    Maybe not.

    LOL

  • PANAMANIANknicksFANsince91

To me Fields looks right now like Matt Barnes in his prime. So I think he will be better…

  • donnie_brasco

he’s going to end his career being compared more to magic more than kobe and MJ imo

  • donnie_brasco

i molded my shot after our very own allen houston and my release from ray allen, drive to the basket like MJ (minus the dunking but with the finess)

  • itzyung1

I Dont speak for everybody but i can say this Im not mad he picked the heat go ahead play with your friends just dot drag it out and toy with people the way he did.
He left cleveland in a bitch way as well at least have the decenvy to tell us your leaving he did’t eve do that!
BUT whats making me dislike them more and more is how they are rubbing their super team in everyone’s faces!

  • Dylan

Try clearing the cache and cookies. I always have that problems, and it doesn’t work until I clear them.

  • thefloodwatch

i liked Fields game …he looks like a diamond in the rough – and probably will be taking Wilson Chandler place if we use him as Trade Bait with Curry mid-season for Melo – but Fields Coached by Mike D’antoni can be special…reminds me of a John Stark/J.R Smith type of player that can takeover a game and aggravate on defense – Great Pick !!
Jerome Jordan looks more polished then Jordan Hill foot work wise..has more to work on as for making presence felt .but i dug the effort and i think the Knicks finally will be inside intimidators this coming season – i would take Patrick Ewing Jr into Consideration to join Training Camp and maybe Roster Slot he can Defend and is active on the rebounds also Carrol was running the show pretty Well behind Douglas –
but Fields might be one of those Draft Sleepers

  • bockersORbriefs

I’m not gonna say that we’ll match up great against Pat the Rat’s 3 top MICE-ami Heat rodents, but there is the potential for some interesting head to heads from a defensive perspective …

    for example:

    Randolph on Bosh
    Will & Gallo on Lame-Bron
    Felton & TD on D-Fade

plus Randolph, Will, Azubuke and possibly Fields are all flexible enough to guard multiple positions (Haslem, Miller, etc.)in
    short spurts. Not bad

  • Hustle

I can’t speak for everyone either, but I’m glad LeBron picked the Heat over the Knicks. I was sick of how people getting on their knees for that crybaby quitter. If you didn’t like Lebron prior to “The Decision,” why should you stop disliking him after?

What pisses me off is how all of it was handled. Trying to pretend to be unselfish by holding it at the Boys and Girls club, pretending that it was a spontaneous decision and that they hadn’t had it planned for months, etc.

And don’t tell me it wouldn’t bring you great satisfaction to see them get knocked off in the first round of the playoffs by the Knicks (or anyone else for that matter).

  • bob go knicks

how come Wison Chandler said “MAN,I REALLY HOPE THAT JAMAICAN GUY MAKES OUR TEAM’”‘

  • itzyung1

If thats hard to read I Apologize. My “N” key is acting up.

  • Mucha

“The Decision” was a farce, the show was a disgrace to the game of basketball in my opinion. LeBron James is not a slave, he has the right to leave Cleveland and bolt to Miami. But he showed no class, no dignity and no respect for Cavaliers fans. I truly dislike LeBron James, and the uniform he’s wearing (Cavaliers, Heat, Knicks whatever) will not change my perception.

Here’s why I criticize LeBron James : He’s the self-proclaimed “King”, he tries to steal the spotlight during the NBA Finals, he publicly says that he doesn’t shake hands “because he’s a winner” etc. but now he’s begging for help because he can’t win a championship in Cleveland? Because he can’t shoot a free throw when Kobe Bryant’s playing with broken fingers and Andrew Bynum’s playing with a torn meniscus? And he’s the self-proclaimed “King”??

I’m quite happy actually because LeBron James showed his true colors. I don’t think it is good for the NBA but it is what it is – at least everybody knows that LeBron James is clearly not the savior. By the way I know that you’re not (necessarily) talking about me.

  • itzyung1

I Am Going To Love Our 2-3 Zone!

    Ant-Amare-Gallo.

All have Decent timing On Shot Blocking and have Long Arms all those 6-11ers collapsing on you will be hard for anybody.

  • itzyung1

Really! Bynum gained my respect this playoffs he could barely jump but he was out there trying!
To watch Lebron throw playoff games away is disgusting.

  • bob go knicks

I hate him so im not the one who should be defendimg him.Nobody is saying he didnt have the right to leave cleavland, but to do it in typical LBJ fashion was just an insult.shoulda called cleve.owner, shouldnt of had a tv show made of it,him teaming with wade n bosh makes it “the easy way out” bird woulda never teamed with magic, ewing woulda never teamed with Jordan or reggie Miller..ehhh you heard it all before etc etc etc WOW! chalk dust, phonie photo shoots, dancing foul line ,quitting in playoffs ,not shaking hands lebron is just a douche, and i never wanted his huge head here

  • bob go knicks

at least i got my way and we can sorta build a team from scratch.I wish i were the GM staring one month ago

  • bob go knicks

    where is raja bell?

  • Hustle

People didn’t hate the selection of Landry Fields cause they thought he was a scrub, they were pissed cause

    1. The Knicks needed a PG and a shotblocker
    2. People wanted some local players to get picked instead

  • Armand27

I thought you were going to say when you saw that Bum PE Jr wearing #6…

  • newromecity

everybody knows that if you’re trying to mold your game after someone, it needs to be Rick Brunson.

  • PickNY

Raja who? Come on man, we got Skilz!

  • PickNY

I told u guys don’t sleep on Skilz (Fields)!

Fields looks like he has a pretty good feel for the game. He doesn’t look to be great at any one particular thing. The dude just has a good motor and basketball iq. I think these type of players frustrate opponents because they always seem to be in the right place at the right time both on offense and defense. A welcome addition if he keeps this up. BTW, is it possible to get Drago in for the last game or two? I don’t know I’d they allow u to add to the roster. I just can’t stand to see Boateng play!

  • kazidad

I watched video from college of Landry Fields after Knicks drafted him. I was very impressed. Now that I see him in action in Las Vegas summer league games, I am CONVINCED that he will be a STAR in the NBA. He does everything very well. He is not overly flamboyant, just solid, high bb iq, sound fundamentals and he goes after it. Mark my words, a star in the making!

Jerome Jordan already shows a nice touch with the jumper and can put on moves and go to the basket. Also, you can’t nor do you have to coach HEIGHT! Good-bye Eddie Cury, hopefully sooner than later. And do not forget the Russian.
Looks like Knicks will bring some excitement to the Garden and also on the road. Amar’e, Anthony Randolph, Raymond Felton,
Danillo, Wilson, Landry Fields, Jerome Jordan, Tony Douglas, Azubuike, Turiaff, The Russian, Bill Walker and three more to complete the 15 man roster, with who knows which three sitting from game to game. Athleticism, Length, Post-up or dribble drive all there in abundance. Just need to play some defense and playoffs are there for the taking. With all of those shot blockers, defense should improve, but can’t neglect gritty, tough “D” that keeps the opposition out of the paint.
    GO KNICKERBOCKERS !!!

  • kazidad

ALSO, I forgot to mention, THREE POINT SHOOTING with Danillo and a couple of others. GO KNICKERBOCKERS!!!

  • kazidad

    P.S.
    Jerome JAMES vs Jerome JORDAN
    Hmmmmmm!

    Lebron JAMES vs Michael JORDAN
    Hmmmmmm!

JAMES vs JORDAN : NO CONTEST in either case.

The JORDANS any day, by FAR!!!

  • http://www.nomoreonionbags.com trenttucker

Yeah Landry Fields could be an Anthony Parker/Matt Barnes/Mikael Pietrus type of player, which would be terrific. I only saw the highlights though, so I don’t know if he can defend like them. If so, that would be a nice addition. When’s the last time the Knicks had a really athletic swingman who could defend and hit corner threes?

  • NYK4EVER1231

you guys are writing off Rautins but i watch him play for team canada in Puerto Rico and played most at the point and did a decent job. he help beat the dominicans that had Horford, Garcia, Villanueva…and also took on the PR team to the wire..also the guy played lots of great games at MSG and hit crazy shoots at pressure times. he’ll be OK he is just rusty…
