Summer League Game #2 + Other Notes

by Andrew Smith on July 12th, 2010 at 12:57 pm

The Knicks will take on the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers today at 4:00 (east coast time). The game will be aired on MSG. The coaching staff could not have been happy with the interior defense in yesterday’s game as well as the high foul totals (some of which can be attributed to rookie refs) both surely will be a focus in today’s game.

For the Lakers, look for two former NYC-area high school stars Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter as both have been impressive in the Lakers first two games and are trying to crack what is probably the toughest rotation to crack in the NBA.

In other notes, I could not find a link but there are reports that Timofey Mozgov’s three-year contract only guarantees the first year… Thatta boy, Donnie.

  • JeffM729

Devin Ebanks and Lance Stephenson were my mock picks at 38-39 with Hobson and the rest gone. Ebanks can defend like the Knicks of old.

Looking forward to seeing if we can play more together today. It was a truly “foul” performance yesterday with guys just hacking away early and often.

  • Dylan

Hopefully we get to see a little bit of Ewing Jr. and Garcia today. I wanted to see those guys play. Also, I would like to see Rautins run the point a bit. It is obvious that Douglas hasn’t made any progressive in terms of being an actual PG. And we already know what he can do offensively.

  • ewings_fro

    Lakers 105 Knicks 72

  • nikurbokir

    If Kobe plays.

  • KnickFan4Life

Caracter was supposed to be a big-time player, to put it bluntly his college career was disappointment…but who knows maybe he finds a niche somewhere…

  • lomaz88

watch out for ibrahim jaaber. he’ll be giving toney fits all game. this is the guy that jennings backed up in italy.

  • grahambo86
  • Jack D

Does anyone know what time the press conference for the players is going to be?

  • TON BKLYN

    Great!!!!!!!!!!! Good job Donnie.

  • bob go knicks

yeah way to go donnie, you threw away 2 years for a seven foot russian

  • HaS

    C’mon bob be fair, he’s 7’1″.

  • bartnyk

Wish this was true for Feltons contract.

  • joeyballz

Yes bob be fair…at least You are #1 GM of your fantasy baseball team..You dont need a law degree for that..

  • bartnyk

I’m interested in seeing the Russian play but they play no defense in the Euro league so we’ll see, hopefully they let him play.

  • Mucha

“they play no defense in the Euro league”

    ?

  • nymjkfan

How exactly did he throw away two years when the contract is only guaranteed for one?

  • grahambo86

Felton only has 2 years guaranteed.

  • HaS

I hope not to see 30+ three point attempts, along with less fouling, smarter defense and an actual offensive set or two being run.

  • HaS

He’s referring to the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. Where have you been lol?

  • ds2488

Great signing then by Donnie…Hopefully it will all work out.

Compared to the Nets, the Knicks are the Lakers of NY as of the moment. At least we have that going for us.

  • bartnyk

    I know I wish he had 1

I hope Dan D’Antoni starts fields today ova that other guy (can’t even remember his name, lol)…Fields seemed like the best all-around player on the floor yesterday…just wish Walker and TD would have passed him the ball more…

Walker and TD need to stop being sooooo in love w/ the 3pt shot, I would like to see them both drive to the basket more today….we’ll see…

  • NEW KNICKS, NO REGRETS!

EVERY KNICKS FAN SHOULD WRITE TO NYK and ask them to DO NOT ALLOW AMAR’E TO PLAY FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM.

HE SHOULD STAY OUT OF IT. REST HIS KNEES AND WORK OUT WITH THE TEAM. THE LAST THING WE NEED IS FOR HIM TO GET HURT PLAYING FOR NOTHING….

PLEASE GUYS WRITE ABOUT THIS. IT IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THIS SUMMER>>>>>>>>C’MON YOU ALL!!!

  • bockersORbriefs

“For the Lakers, look for two former NYC-area high school stars Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter as both have been impressive in the Lakers first two games…” BOTH available when we drafted at 38 & 39 … thataboy Donnie!

PS, Isola just cracked on Daily News Live that translating the Russian’s name in french is “Fredric Weiss and in english it’s Eddy Curry” …

  • breaker123

does tim speak english or a little?

  • nativenewyorker

Come on. there is no way we sign Felton with 1 guaranteed. Didn’t you see TD these two games. We need a quality PG.
