@chernykh: Mozgov was guaranteed a roster spot on the Knicks: Turiaf's backup at center. Amare to play the four. Curry won't play. Agent told Sports.ru

Mozgov vs Turiaf

  • TobyKnight

    Can we sue Curry?

    Dude is a thief.

Good luck to him on his next contract.

Let’s hope Mozgov and Turiaf are up to the task.

  • BiggieSmalls

yet to hear and answer as to why Prokorov passed on this guy.

  • BiggieSmalls

    from Chernykh’s twitter stream…

“You better ask my agent about it”, Timofey Mozgov told Sovetskiy Sport on why he signed with the Knicks and not with Prokhorov’s Nets
4:47 AM Jul 11th via web

now that explains it.. yeah right.. sounds like KGB influences.

  • brookdon

That means Randolph starts at the 5……

  • NY is not 4 the WEAK

way to demolish Curry’s trade value before the season even starts.

I understand any team taking him is only interested in the cap space, but if dude could sniff a basketball court it would make things a lot easier.

  • CircleLimit4

I feel a lot better knowing that Amar’e will be playing the 4.

I still hope Jerome Jordan makes the team. I think he’s going to get better.

  • PANAMANIANknicksFANsince91

Not Again!!! Damn, Another season that I won’t be able to wear my Eddy Curry jersey…

  • NYK5150

Curry stinks. His only value is his expiring contract. They should just tell him to go home and not even show up. It will be fun to see all these new kids get playing time.

  • CircleLimit4

Haha. Mozgov’s mission is to play with Moose and Squirrel and report findings to fearless leader.

  • Russ

Curry for Melo will crack me up if it happens.

  • brookdon

    Felton
    Chandler
    Gallo
    Stat
    Randolph

    Walker
    Buike
    Douglas
    Turiaf
    Mozgof
    Fields
    Curry

Rautins PE and Jordan not on the team….

  • Jeff C

I guess maybe turiaf can start out starting, but come out quickly, because if you check his stats he’s never played more than 20 minutes a game, so no reason to assume he’ll start now.

I don’t think that means that mosgov comes in for him.
    A) i think jordan and mosgov will be competing for PT
    B) Randolph will HAVE to be the next big off the bench, sliding amare to the 5.

  • Russ

In Soviet Russia, Squirrel dunks you!

  • vin

Who is this guys who “broke” this, any know? How credible is he?

The knicks wanted Curry in Vegas, maybe just to help his trade value – whatever that is, but maybe to see if he had anything for them.

I feel bad for Curry – deaths in the family, but he’s an utter clown. Still, they have got to play him if they can’t trade him and he’s actually healthy.

  • brookdon

And that also means Curry will not be used in any trade for Melo Paul. Those teams would be folkish to take a player that doesn’t even play.

  • KNICKAPLEASE77

i would much rather prefer to have mozgov than jerome jordan. Jordan is way to flimsy and plays soft…mozgov is more a a professional and he has the structural foundation to be a good BIG in the EASTERN conf. and they are both 7 foot. But have u seen jordan in the summer league? not a very good impression

  • Dylan

I don’t think it makes much of a difference whether Curry plays or not. He is a trade asset because of his expiring contract. Maybe he would have a little more trade value for teams that are playoff bound and need a center. But if that team is planning on making a serious run, they aren’t going to trade their super star anyway, and the only way Curry is getting traded is if its in a package deal for a guy like Melo or CP3. Otherwise, we will just save the cap space.

  • flossy

LOL I wouldn’t be so sure other teams would want him more if they saw him on the court…

Anyway any chance he had of getting any burn went out the window with D’Antoni’s arrival IMO. Eddy Curry in his prime would be a terrible fit with SSOL. Eddy Curry right now probably can’t even make it past half court in seven seconds or less.

  • ds2488

I’m excited to see what Mozgov can do. It’s good to hear/see that Amare won’t be playing the 5 that much and that Turiaf, it seems, will be in the starting 5. I guess that means Randolph will come off the bench to begin with, but as long as he’s part of Dantoni’s circle he will see a lot of minutes so it will be fine.

Wasn’t Portland looking at Mozgov mid-season? That gives me some hope. It seems Mozgov and his agent only really wanted to come to NY so other teams backed off.

  • gianthinker

Curry wont play? What a surprise. It will be a great day when that fat Stay-Puff-Marshmellow-Man is no longer on this roster.

  • KnickKnack

Right now Mozgov and Turiaf are 12 hard fouls aimed at famous shoulders, famous elbows, and … well you don’t really need to foul Bosh that hard. He’s kinda like the pool boy on that team.

  • PennState4

This is old news that wasn’t even reported in that Russian Newspaper http://knickstweets.net/rumors/mozgovs-agent-says-eddy-curry-out-of-the-knicks-rotation/…Real GM “reported” this story from that Tweet, which occurred Monday.

  • KnickKnack

Why would anyone want to invest any more minutes in Curry? There is no chance that he is a better option on this team than any of the projects we have going. Curry might be the most important player on this team because of his contract. But the only reason he plays is if the Knicks front office wants to give him a chance to get another contract. Why would they owe him that? Right now we have some talented kids around a possible superstar in Amare, if this thing comes together. We need to think about minutes as an investment now. Any minute wasted on that porcine criminal is like giving wall street another bailout to pay more executive bonuses.

Timofey Mozgov and Ronnie Turiaf playing against each other at 2009 Eurobasket.

Little Tony Parker in there too.

  • JaymanJD

This is what is so Absurd about D’Antoni and Walsh. Before the season even starts Curry has no chance of playing thats Soooooooo STUPID. I do not give a rats ass about the past. This guy once scored 19 and grabbed 7 reb . He is getting paid 11 million a year. Despite what the team was saying last year he was healthy and they refused to play him. Imagine if D’Antoni would have played him last year maybe he would have had some trade value and we would be rid of him but noooooooooo. Now they are going to do the same thing and it only hurt the teams trade option not helpo them. Last year when the team was lossing anyway there was absolutely no reason not to play him. If Curry comes to Camp in shap and ready to go he should be given a chance like everyone else.

  • Joe-V

The Russians are sending their new spy… LOL

  • Joe-V

Mosgov is going to be trash..

    We better get Rudy Fernandez…

I’m sick of having a scrub team we need play makers, and stars not projects.. We get the right players and who cares about the cap,, Knicks have always been above the cap, becuase we can afford it…

  • http://www.nomoreonionbags.com trenttucker

And a few Boris Diaw shots, too. Nice find.

Turiaf kind of has his way with Russia — Mosgov doesn’t appear too interested in challenging him.

  • Russ
  • Joe-V

Curry is washed up.. He shouldn’t be allowd to practice with the team…

No super agent has to break that news, its common sense!!!

  • Joe-V

did you hear Durant called Bosh a lap-dog,,lmao

  • BigTyme

@JaymanJD ur the few dudes here so far who seems 2 understand how 2 get the most value out of an asset; D’antoni blew Big-Time w/Marbury and N8, even though we dint do 2 bad gettin back Walker but who knows, we cud have gotten more somewhere else if these guys were not DE-VALUED by our coach……If he does it 3 yrs n a row………

  • BiggieSmalls

its more the “coach” than Donnie.. but well done.

  • RedHolzman

    Panyamush Paruski?

  • dreamer3kx

really, where did you see this?

  • itzyung1

If you all think you can get the old Eddy Curry back you are more naive than the optimistic fans you pick at.
The Old Curry wasn’t even that good he was just the best thing in a bad situation and wouldn’t fit the system at all besides playing no defense (Thats For HaS).
ALSO Eddy wasn’t healthy all last season he got hurt remember because he had surgery!

  • Russ

    More like 9:14

  • bb_dot

I agree in general about the idiocy of devaluing players. But Curry is another case. I dont think there is anybody in the league at this point who can be fooled with what Curry can bring to a team. The guy is done. He has been done for years! On top of lacking focus, resolve, energy, work-ethics, and a sensible diet, Curry is now dealing with serious monetary issues, law suits and what not. Do you think that has been lost on anybody in the league? If the russian needed a commitment to play in order to come here, it is a no-brainer to give it to him over Curry. I personally think Mozgov is a stiff and won’t make it far but that’s a hell of a lot better than Curry..

  • dreamer3kx

Mike D pretty much guranteed a spot on the team for Fields, Jordan and Rautins.

  • Bruno

    This is news??!?!?

  • BigTyme

2 make a long story str8, I Cudda jus said Eddy bein an expiring is an asset; Eddy playin poorly still remains an assett; Eddy playin well becomes a added assett….Knix r winners either way, jus the level of that win is yet 2b determined….damn, that was still kinda long wuznt it? Ha

  • PANAMANIANknicksFANsince91

the team is playing really well:
    Rautins stealing and dunking,
Fields running some point forward and attacking the hoop… walker shooting good and jerome jordan playing like an NBA center…
and Amare is watching the game. THE KNICKS ARE BACK!!!

  • mustarda

wow, great play by MOOOOZgov at 09:15

  • clyne

Not sure why people are totally off the CP3 for Curry thing…

IF NO was even thinking about trading CP3 it was not going to be for equal value, but rather for $$$ relief…Mid year trade would end up saving them about 13 million next year.

Throw in Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas and next years first round pick.

    Starting lineup
    G: CP3 and Felton
    F: Danilo and Amare
    C: Randolph

  • trlove

Sorry but the knicks have to take every game serious from gm 1 and cant be clowning around auditioning washed up losers like curry. The guy has been out 2 years and every GM around the league knows curry sucks even if he tears it up for a few weeks. The knicks are gonna get their chance to trade the first few weeks into the season ince a team starts bad or a coach has a problem with a player to dump curry’s salary. Then of course there is the trade deadline which is guarenteed curry lard butt will history.

You never know though if multiple injuries happen and curry comes in shape and impresses in training camp he will he see the floor.

  • HaS

If this report is true, does anyone see a pattern though? _’antoni talks out of both sides of his mouth. Didn’t he just say that Curry was perfect for his “system” and that he would play a big part of their season next year? Now he’s not even going to play?

It surely seems he isn’t the most forthright person in the world and at the very least is a poor communicator.

    SMH

  • HaS

“yet to hear and answer as to why Prokorov passed on this guy.”

Well the way Mozgov spoke it seemed as if he was enamored with playing for _’antoni in his style. So, maybe it was his team who passed on the Nets and not the other way around?

I guess signing _’antoni got us LeBronsomeone after all.

  • PickNY

    Lil joey,

What are you sniffing? That’s the problem with you type of guys always wanting to take the easy way out by wanting to select stars all the dang time! Not only you need a few stars, but role players is a MUST! Ask Kobe how role players helped win game 7! Did you hear the guy explaining to Tommy that over in Europe guys learned to increase that basketball IQ based on the competition. That’s why I believe selecting ball players with high basketball knowledge will help the team in the long run. Your comments exposes your sorry stinky thinking that sounds like that guy who is running the Minnesota orgainization. What a knucklehead. Who the hell do you think NY is going to need to bang with the big centers downlow in the paint? They do collect fouls in the paint if you are not aware that you need replacement players to step in from time to time. Size do matter in the paint lil joey boy! JUst because owners can afford to be over the cap doesn’t mean they have to be stupid about spending. You must work for Mickey D’s! Take a management 101 course and send me the bill because you need it:>)

    Tough Luv!

  • PickNY

    Jeff C,

What’s up with you expecting guys to compete rather than playing as a team when their number is called? There are some NBA players don’t mind when their number is being called as long as they get PAID! Why? Because they believe in a team concept and it don’t matter! It’s sad that players have to compete against their own teammates when they should be worry about their opponents!

  • Mucha

We can’t trade 2 consecutive 1st round draft picks. Which means that the first pick we’ll be able to trade is the 2014 first round draft pick.

Curry, Chandler and TD is not enough regardless.

  • Mucha

I guess you didn’t watch the Knicks last season because Mike D’Antoni would play Curry when the Knicks had a comfortable lead and take him out of the game with a 5 point deficit 2 minutes later.

It was literally impossible to raise his trade value by giving him more minutes.

He was given a chance, but he just wasn’t good enough to take advantage of it.

  • itzyung1

Yeah Most likely for CP3 We will have to give up 2 of our Young 3 (Gallo,Wilson,Ant), and Curry’s expiring.

  • bockersORbriefs

“If Curry comes to Camp in shap and ready to go he should be given a chance like everyone else”…. ehhh, I agree with you JaymanJD … but wasn’t this suppose to be the deal with Steph in ’08 ? Now Steph won’t even trust Father Mike to “walk his dog.” PS, don’t think Mike will be doing pet help for N8, Darko, Hughes, J-Hill, or Al Buckets either … Hey that’s a whole starting 5 & a 6th man off the bench. Father Mike is some great communicator!

  • Bloop33

    Stop hatin fam.

  • Bloop33

    @ PickNY

Your posts all sound like they come from the mind of an overly excited sugar induced 14 year old.

    Seriously

  • johneco

    Agree totally with Bloop33.

  • breaker123

    who is pe?

  • HaS

“I guess you didn’t watch the Knicks last season because Mike D’Antoni would play Curry when the Knicks had a comfortable lead and take him out of the game with a 5 point deficit 2 minutes later.”

It’s called rust. He hadn’t played in over a season, did you expect him to come out an look like Pau Gasol?

_’antoni gave Darko more of a chance than he gave Curry lol.
