ESPN: Free Agents Want you to Know They Make More Money Than You

by Tommy Dee on July 19th, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Look, I’m a marketing guy. I get creative. I’m trying to figure out why this makes any sense whatsoever. Please feel free to help a brother out.

Is it because I take myself too seriously? Nah. Already dug deep for those feelings.

It’s straight obnoxious.

I guess the fact that I’m blogging about it and bringing attention to it makes it partly successful, in that “make you feel crappy about yourself” kind of way. But I really enjoy good well-planned campaigns. This isn’t one of them.

“make you feel crappy about yourself”

Over a pro athlete? This post = DOA

  • CircleLimit4

This is worse than the FA spinner.

  • Joe-V

Im not sure what the question is but if its the Money the make compared to what the avg Joe makes then i will comment on that..

Its a business only the elite may enter(NBA Player) we “the fans” are the ones behind the salaries and everything that goes w/ it due to our obession w/ the Entertainment level & value….

Tommy i’m not sure if you have anything else going outside the blog but one team has given you a carreer in asking questions and giving your opinion and I’m sure you get a check for that as well.

Money is not everything, its very important but its not everything, sports to me provide a way to dream, think, evaluate and my favorite part talk a little SHizzzzzznizzy uh know,,

One thing i know money is there for the taking you have the right idea the right plan and are willing to put in the time you can make it w/ James’

I’ve gotta admit you’re pretty brave to still use that LeBron x Chris + James x Bosh username around these parts after that whole fiasco.

  • BigTyme

Joe V…..ur a very intelligent man…..Tommy, if that was ur question, this is ur answer

  • ScottD

LeBron James makes $1,000,000,000 after the following…
    4741.14 Games 140490.46 Points
    35749.32 Rebounds 40054.5 Assists

You will need to work .02 years in order to make LeBron James’ annual salary.

Gladly he won’t make it in NYC!!!

  • HaS

I remember when we didn’t even know what any of the athletes made. I always wondered if that was somehow changed in order to make fans resent players?

    Whatever.

I agree this makes no sense, but I have a hard time believing this was something the players or their representatives dreamed up as is implied by the title of your article. “Free Agents Want you to Know They Make More Money Than You

  • ScottD

My father (may he rest in peace) thought that LeBron was a “throwback”
The way LeBron handled his off the court business (The Decision) would have made him think otherwise!

  • ds2488

yeah, I was wondering where that title came in. I thought Lebron and co. did something else really obnoxious.

It seems more like ESPN just doing there thing.

  • Mucha

    ROTFL

    ESPN

This is more appropriate for this blog, although I’m starting to wonder if this isn’t a Heat or LeBron blog lol.

  • Chris Alvino

Yeah that is pretty dumb by ESPN.

Especially when you consider that someone like Eddy Curry has made roughly 20 million to play less than 10 games over the last two seasons.

Marbury got paid 22 million to sit home.

  • Joe-V

deff more important to the BLOG, LOL

    its still theknicksblog

    lmao!!!

  • Lebris Jamosh aka ridiculous upside

HA! Brave or just lazy in my case.

I’ll get around to it. It was dumb to begin with so whatever LOL

  • bob go knicks

I was wrong about the “IS CURRY THE WORST’ post, this is a worse post than that. Can we now end yer vacation officially?

  • bob go knicks

Id like to know what the point of this post was

  • ds2488

lol. You just don’t go on the Heat blogs HaS. They talk about Eddy Curry every day to the point that bloggers have to complain about it being on there too much.

  • gianthinker

I would need to work 524.29 years in order to make LeBron James’ annual salary. Now I’m going to go drink.

  • fauci933

Who cares…they found it and posted it…big deal.

  • itzyung1

Apparently ESPN Has a new sponsorship from Jack Daniels and they posted it to hope it drives people to drinking.

  • Bloop33

Minus the flexing and posing, he had a lot of people fooled, not necessarily the people in here, but a lot. It was was funny, exciting an interesting this summer to see him show that he’s basically a corny dude.

  • PickNY

Now that’s funny! I needed that!

  • BigTyme

Marbury was in shape n ready 2 roll n but was antagonized n sent home cuz a grown ass man cudnt let bygones be bygones….not a great comparison Myles of Styles

  • BigTyme

Marbury was in shape n ready 2 roll n but was antagonized n sent home cuz a grown ass man cudnt let bygones be bygones….not a great comparison Chris

  • KnickFan4Life

Hey it’s BSPN. Why are you at all suprised. They think they are cutting edge and cool but they are actually just really self indulgent and obnoxious…

  • KnickFan4Life

You left out the whole team pretty much hate Marbury and didn’t want to play with the guy…
