NY is in the driving seat. Sit back and wait for Melo and then wait for CP3 when he comes available in two years. Amare & Melocan sway CP3 to choose NY when his contract is up. NY should not be in a hurry because we do have chips when the time comes for us to make decisions next year and in the coming future!

Don’t need to get caught up with ignorant folks making crazy speculations. It’s oftly quiet in the Melo camp. It seems he knows what he going to do and NY waiting in the cut:>)

I have been looking at that trade for over ten minutes now, and I still can’t come up with a single reason that the Knicks would do this trade. It’s essentially a swap of Toney Douglas for TJ Ford (horrible), Wilson Chandler and Turiaf for Peja (Thanks, but we have Gallo), plus we throw in Azibuike, CURRY’S EXPIRING, and $3 Million!!! That is dreadful. Sorry, but Isiah isn’t the GM anymore/yet.

That is the dumbest trade I’ve ever seen. This from a guy that doesn’t have any perspective from a Knick standpoint. That trade is like giving up Eddy Curry straight up for Chris Paul.

Simmons likes pissing on knick fans for attention. Whatever. Found this interesting on hooopsworld:

“Just days before “The Decision” aired on ESPN, James and Paul had a lengthy phone conversation with Amar’e Stoudemire, who had just signed with the New York Knicks. The trio discussed the possibility of playing together in New York. Stoudemire was already there, James would sign next, and then Paul would demand a trade to the Knicks.”

      KEEP GALLO AND RANDOLPH!

      • Mucha
        Jul 24, 2010, 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm #

They have 9 players under contract – 4 additional player will fit in I believe.

        Paul
        Walker
        Gallinari
        Stoudemire
        Okafor

        + Felton, Mozgov

That’s a powerhouse with a bright future in the East. You know I love the kid but I couldn’t care less about Randolph if we can build a championship team and somehow keep the italian stallion.

        • dino2008
          Jul 24, 2010, 1:10 pm at 1:10 pm #

first off, i highly highly doutb chris paul is going anywhere. if you trade a top 5 player in the game, you might as well just shut down the franchise. NO fans are good fans, but i doubt they would tolerate trading paul.

secondly, gallinari an randolph will have to be included in the deal imo. and im in walsh i say flat out “no thank you.”

for one, gallinari randolph felton (in mikes system) > than paul and okafor

okafor has a killer contract and although paul is a phenomenal player (top 5) it scares me to think that both he and amare have severe knee issues.

listen, u all know i how feel about gallo. in regard to randolph, i think this kid has hall of fame skills and i personally feel like mike will get the best out of him. lets stand pat, develop our kids, and give ray felton a chance in mikes system before we trade two studs plus more young talent for paul and okafor. i am extremley excited about seeing this young core develop. get me another shooter and were lookin like a 6 or 7 seed imo.

I’m glad there are still Knicks fans with some sense. There is no way I trade half the team for Paul and Okafor. The Hornets crippled their franchise with Okafor’s contract and he would have the same effect here. It’s a really stupid move, especially since there are lots of other options out there.

            Jul 24, 2010, 6:26 pm at 6:26 pm #

A guess a perennial 50-win team is a ridiculous suggestion?

            Paul
            Gallinari
            Stoudemire
            Okafor

Can do better than what our current roster will ever be capable of doing.

I can only imagine that the ONLY benefit of that trade for NY is to clear more cap space to sign FAs.
Fors and Peja come off the books for $22.7mil
Both those guys can contribute off the bench, but we can do better.

  17. donnie walsh
    Jul 24, 2010, 1:21 pm at 1:21 pm #

I put together one. AR, wil, curry, and turiaf or azubuke plus a future 1st to new Orleans for Paul and posey. Néw Orleans also sends emeka to Detroit who send prince’s expiring to no. Works under cap. Pistons finally get a true center (plus dinars seems to have no grasp of what constitutes a bad deal).. NO gets a ton of cap space coming off the books and get actual young
    pieces. Knicks get their guy.

Now maybe new Orleans can get more, I don’t know, but this wouldn’t be terrible for them.

  18. hostdude99
    Jul 24, 2010, 1:23 pm at 1:23 pm #

Ha, that sucks. I would love Paul, but not at the expense of sending back a lot of young building blocks. Paul gets hurt and complains a lot. I think that Felton has got some real balls taking only a 2 year contract with an unguaranteed 3rd year while everyone else around him was signing for ridiculous numbers. He’s telling the world he’s got something to prove and he’s going to prove it in NY. I love that and it’ll be most interesting to see what he can bring with Dant’s offense.

My preference would be to settle down with this group and then try to get Melo next year. I think that a starting group that includes AR, Amare, Melo and Galo would be quite the crew in the eastern conf. Throw in Turiaf and the Russian to hip check Lecon and Bosh into the first row and we’d at least be getting back to the early 90s.

Then again, we never won a championship in the 90s either so what do I know. But at least it was fun.

HA WOW, not even Isiah could have dreamed up a trade that sh*tty. We give up half our roster in return for a few extra mil of cap room next summer while helping Orlando acquire Chris Paul??? That has got to be a joke. I’d be outside Donnie’s office with a torch and a pitchfork if that actually went down.

Simmons is the best sports writer of this generation, his style is unique, he is prolific in the extreme, he is witty, humorous, fearless and usually right on target. Unfortunately the NY Knicks are his kryptonite; their relevance renders him unable to functio and in these tweets he truly seems unbalanced.
