A source close to Paul said he has not yet formally told the Hornets to trade him, but he plans to inform them during Monday’s meeting he would be willing to play elsewhere if they cannot accommodate his wishes to improve the roster.

Nothing new, other than confirming the sense that this may move forward quickly. I’ve heard otherwise, but that can change quickly.

  • BiggieSmalls

if he expressed his demands to be traded and DOnnie doesnt snap to and get aggressive it’s a FAIL.

  • PickNY

Means he ain’t going anywhere, Cool with me, so let’s move on. We can visit the idea next year or when his contract is up along with Felton!

  • PickNY

Man take your a** back to sleep and stop dreaming. You stuck like chuck scrub! Deal with it or go find another squad to complain about u itch!

  • BiggieSmalls

    is English your first language?

just curious cause you dont write like it is.

you write like an immature 15 year old.

  • dino2008

if NO is going to trade paul, which they wont they are going to want a ton of cheap young talent…. jameer nelson is what he is but hes not getting any better. if they cant win with chris paul they sure as hell are not winning with jameer nelson. i think the knicks young talent that they can offer is much more appealing than nelson and i KNOW orlando can easily get a third team involved, but until they do so ny has the edge in terms on assets imo.

  • CircleLimit4

Ditto I’m much more concerned about Portland than Orlando.

  • ds2488

NO should play this smart. They need to force Paul to be the bad guy and publicly make a statement to the media demanding a trade. They can then go all about giving him the Cleveland Lebron James treatment and turn him into the bad guy and them into the unfortunate victims.

Until that happens, Im not holding my breath about Paul getting traded.

  • mikeyt

yeah with 2 years left on his deal I just dont see how the Hornets can trade him.

How can the first act of business for a new owner and new GM be to trade the team superstar. Their arena will be deserted.

Also what is Pauls leverage? Is he going to refuse to play?

  • PickNY

And you talk right out your a**! Your cover is blown your fake wanna-be NYer who speculate worst than your boy Bull-shard! You must of been a scrub on the sideline that nobody wanted to pick, except being the last nerd standing.

  • PickNY

    Tell that lilsmalls!

  • CircleLimit4

Dan Gilbert did as much damage to himself as he did Lebron. In fact, Gilbert’s sentiments might have driven some otherwise neutral opinions away from Cleveland sympathy.

Bitter is not a good PR move.

  • the oak

I don’t care where he gets traded to but please God make it happen sooner than later. Won’t be able to listen to Chris Broussard ramble any more.

One day he says Paul getting traded is 50-50. The very next day it is 60-40. According to Broussard One day Pauls first preference is one team the next day it is another.

Lebrons “leader” according to Broussard was the Cavs, then Bulls, Cavs, Bulls, Heat, Bulls, Cavs, Heat.

One thing is for sure, you will hear him say “right now the Magic is the leader but don’t count out the Blazers, Knicks, Mavs, Lakers, Mets, Cowboys, and USC.

  • BiggieSmalls

looks like i called it right.

im done with your lack of basic intelligence and decorum.

  • PickNY

Paul is bluffing! He’s been hanging around LBJ camp too dang long! He has no bargaining chip!

  • KV

Paul doesnt wanna stay…..Thats obvious……N.O will not be in a position to officially upgrade their roster until 3-4 years from now…I know I sound repetitive but the knicks can get him if we take Okafur’s contract……..just trade okafur…….before they acquire his contract, find out what teams would be interested and get his ass outta there……We need that room for melo.

  • PickNY

Stan Van Gundy said this is a rumor and his organization is not in any position to make a deal for Paul, so Bull-shard got everyone twisted again!

  • brookdon

    Agreed.

  • PickNY

Oh you suppose to sound educated. Take your sorry a** back to sleep and wait to comment about the players after the season. You already sour about the Knick squad, so why do you still bother us with your bulls*** DECORUM! Did I spell that right scrub!

  • brookdon

    No team wants Okafur.

  • Jayo

    Agreed

  • Jayo

Good stuff .. Funny but true ..

  • PickNY

Lil smalls got you boys fooled. Lilsmalls your new name should be called Complaincity or Knickhater! Either you say something nice about my Knicks, I owned you!

Oh you don’t like folks bad mouthing your post huh? It’s only right because you bash the team and coaches. Can’t take it? Ha, you are funny!

Okay I’m sorry. Do you forgive me?

  • itzyung1

If CP3 Gets Traded It Has To Be To NY it only Makes Sense….Deja Vu.

  • BiggieSmalls

ever wonder why no one responds to your nonsense?

when you do you’ll go somewhere else.. just like you likely got tossed from where ever you were 2 weeks ago.

    <ignore buton pushed.

  • PickNY

Okafur is not a bad player, but I have to admit that his contract is a pro lem. Maybe NO needs to pay a portion of his contract to get rid of him. If not, then you keep him.

  • PickNY

I see your dumda** crybaby self still responding. You can’t take what you been dissing our current team and coaches.

  • ds2488

I was more talking about the hometown fans. Gilbert might be a joke to the national fanbase in general, but I think he’s something of a hero in Cleveland now. Cleveland hates Lebron much, much more than they hate Gilbert right now.

  • latinony7

Anybody know what team needs a big man?if we get paul along with okafur maybe in december we can ship him and felton off to a team that needs them . Maybe Minny! Lol that gm is out of control but again that would be dream lol

  • Mucha

Well I actually liked the letter. The owner needed to show Cleveland fans that he wasn’t going to let them down. Irresponsible? Yes. Childish? Yes. But loyal.

  • Mucha

DW better be working the phones

  • Mucha

    lmao

  • HaS

That letter was an embarrassment to the franchise, he also may have cost himself free agents with his politically incorrect comments.

    He’s an idiot.

Teams pay a PR department for a reason. Use it.

  • nychoopsfan

+1. portland is the team to worry about beating not orlando.

  • nychoopsfan

making CP3 the bad guy may play well with new orleans fans but its not going to help them get more in a trade. they’ll get less because every team in the league will know that new orleans and cp3 wont be able to work together.

dan gilbert was silent until AFTER lebron already left his team and the city of cleveland.

  • nychoopsfan

new orleans already has the 8th worst attendance and the 3rd lowest franchise value as appraised by forbes. so they’re in deep sh*t whether they trade cp3 or not.

cp3 has no leverage this year, but if you make him unhappy you will get zero for him after next year when he leaves as a free agent. at least trading him this year the hornets could get something to build with for the future right? its business and you have to make the best of a bad situation if you are the hornets – you cant try to play hardball with cp3 because ultimately he’ll then leave for nothing.

  • BobbyFromBK

Tommy, you’re setting yourself and your followers up for another letdown. What incentive does NO have to rush and trade Paul? If you were GM, you’d tell him that he has 2 more years on his contract and to get the hell outta your face. Which will probably happen tomorrow.

You’re like a kid who wants Christmas to be everyday, Tommy. Give it a rest, bro!

  • nychoopsfan

i actually think broussard seems well connected. maybe he is reporting constant changes because the situation is constantly changing. i wouldn’t be surprised if bron changed his mind daily or hourly and cp3 may be doing the same thing.

but i do agree with you on your first point – lets get this fricking thing over with and move on. knicks still have to put some pieces together before next season and cp3 drama is putting everything on hold.

  • nychoopsfan

unfortunately its not that easy. if it was easy to trade okafor to someone else dont you think NOLA wouldve done that already?

  • swiftandabundant

Im on the fence about Paul. First, I would like to check out Felton for awhile. Second, I do not like the idea of Okafor’s contract (who signed that contract originally…what an idiot!).

I guess it all depends on how this meeting goes. But I think NO will not trade Paul. Tomorrow they will cool things over and tell him to start the season off and see how it goes. Then I could see them trading him by the trade deadline if NO is not doing well. That would work out better for us cause then we could offer Felton, who might have an inflated value by then because of Dantoni ball.

I doubt Carmelo would completely rule out the Knicks if CP3 ends up in Orlando or Portland. We still have Amare and a good young crew to run with.

  • nychoopsfan

max amount a team can include in a trade is only $3 million cash. and the full amount still counts against the cap regardless. so his contract is a problem no matter what.

  • nychoopsfan

good point. lol. there are a lot of absolutely moronic GMs in the nba. minny is a particularly good example. jersey just hired billy king, another complete d-bag. it’s possible we could acquire okafor and package him with felton to a team with a completely moronic gm.

  • http://Knicks.com/ Russ

Playing it smart isn’t making CP3 look bad. Playing it smart is getting the best deal possible and moving on.

  • http://Knicks.com/ Russ

CP3 doesn’t have leverage. However once the Hornets know that he will leave at the end of his contract if not traded, they have to trade him soon if they want to get the maximum value for his contract. As CP3′s contract approaches expiration, the value diminishes. CP3′s contract, as an asset, is at its maximum value now.

  • HaS

“dan gilbert was silent until AFTER lebron already left his team and the city of cleveland.”

Exactly and it seemed to rally the players and many came to the defense of LeBron.

It was a stupid move, be professional and make a statement after you’ve run it by your public relations department. He sounded like a 15 year old fan proclaiming that his team would win a championship before LeBron and calling a 25 year old names etc. He actually made James look like the more mature one after that display of childishness.

  • KV

The Knicks can trade Okafur…..Sacramento has dalambert who is a free agent…..they need a center to help cousins……Detroit has Wallace for 2 more years…he’s washed up……N.O hasnt really went hard with trying to trade Okafur cause their front office has been twisted……The front office is all they have been spending money on…..this is why CP3 wants out….they havent been spending money on players……….With all the upgrades that have happened thus far…..TRUST ME………somebody will take okafur…philly needs a center…Indiana….ATL needs a big man cause Al Horford is 6’10 and has problems on defense……..the list goes on.

  • bob go knicks

    but all fact based
