Blazers To Make Decision On Young Guards Soon?

By Chris Alvino on Jul 29, 2010, 12:47 am

Saw this one from The Columbian about the Blazers’ young guards Patty Mills and recent draft pick Armon Johnson.

“A decision has not been made about the future of guards Patty Mills and Armon Johnson, a team source said. Both players improved their stock during Summer League play, and their value to the organization will be assessed during meetings this week.”

The Knicks reportedly had heavy interest in Johnson leading into the draft and Mills is a good player in my eyes.  I would probably prefer to fill the roster with another veteran on a one year deal, but either of these guys can be intriguing if let go by the Blazers.

I’m sure there will be a whole lot guys being available towards the end of training camp.

The Knicks need to add another PG. I like Douglas, but I think he will have more success playing off the ball. My guess is that he gets more playing time at SG than PG. It would be great if we could add another guy with PG skills. Either of those guys could be nice additions. I’m sure there will be a ton of other guys available as well.

forget it. we need a veteran PG to back up Felton going into the season. can’t afford to have just TD or a rookie as a back up. too risky.

I would prefer to get a veteran PG. Not one of these guys.

If Armon Johnson is released and the Knicks don’t go after him aggressively they are dumb.

I’m sorry but I don’t want toney playing off ball at all that would mean we would have to small guards on the floor please don’t bring up his defense with way to justify this when all that would be is another mismatch ( lee playing center ) it’s the same thing or having Nate and chris on the floor at the same time and all the other team did was post them up or shoot right over the top of them
Maybe I’m bugging or is that a bad defensive alscheme

No its not the same at all. Duhon and Nate were both bad defenders. Also, Douglas is 6-1 and Nate is 5-8. Its not like I want him to start at SG. When he is in the game though, I don’t want him running the point. Its not a big deal. Teams go with two PGs during games all the time.

I really would enjoy the addition of either of these 2 players ….Don’t think vet. pg is needed because there’s really not anyone worth looking at …unless your talking about Allen Iverson …I feel like this would be a win-win….sign 1 of them with 1yr deal…then see how good the player is….if good…then we can either use as trade asset or keep & trade someone else …both of these players are better than Rautins-__- ….so only could can come from it…also want Pat Ewing Jr. on team

Long as it doesnt take away Ewing Jr’s spot……AI is a very intriguing ideal for the exact reason Marbury wud of worked his last year; Contract Year and NBA survival mode….we need 2 stop forcing players 2b a player they’re not; havent we learned anything from N8? Being short does not make u an automatic pg! We def need another pg….J-Will? Alston?……AI?

what about Jaycee Carroll? I think the team should sign him, he showed some good stuff during summer league.
