Curry in Trouble…Again

By Tommy Dee on Jul 29, 2010, 10:05 am

Via Chicago Sun-Times

For the second time in little more than a month, a Cook County judge has issued an arrest warrant for former Chicago  Bull Eddy Curry in a legal case that raises new questions about the NBA player’s financial woes.

Cook County Circuit Judge Alexander White ordered  Curry’s arrest on Monday,  after learning Curry failed to sign an agreement to pay the balance of a $660,000 legal settlement reached after he was sued for allegedly having sex with an underage girl.

Not much more to say about Curry, frankly.

Not surprised, when is Eddy Curry ever trouble free? I’m sure the next thing that will happen will be some kind of injury or maybe another sexual harassment suit from another guy.
What a waste…I hope we can get rid of this guy asap.

Why is this even news? Hes not on the team anymore. I mean hes on the team as on the roster, but hes not gonna play and no one on this team has him on the long term or short term vision of playing for this team.

I also dont understand why these guys mess with underage girls? You have girls your age throwing themselves at you and you go after underage girls. Sad. Fail…Epic Fail.

Yeah but Curry likes going after men…like his ex-Chauffeur driver.

If he goes to jail, does that mean his contract is no longer counted against the cap? And would that be a good thing or a bad thing (we’d be losing his huge expiring contract that we could use in a trade)?

you hand some people millions of dollars and they turn into mush.. physically and morally. It says alot about whichever “Gramma” raised him

..hope he goes to jail.. maybe we can have our contract voided and not have to pay him.. Im sure theyre are stipulations in there about not going to jail ;)

its not wrong if your a kind hearted person who just cant stand to see a troubled basketball player go through trials a tribulations off the court due to his own neglegence and stupidity…BUT IF YOUR A DIE HARD KNICK FAN WHO CANT STAND TO SEE THIS ASSWHIPE BE PAYED FOR ANOTHER SEASON OF USELESS BENCH WARMING THAN SEND HIS ASS TO JAIL….WITH NO RAHMON NOODLES!!

I can stil see him having a break-out year . . . from the County Jail.

What ever happened to moral turpitude clauses in contracts?

Curry’s legal woes will make him untradeable we are stuck with him til his contract is over unless we do a buyout. Can someone explain what happens to our cap if we do a buyout?

I have no problem keeping him if he could do what he did that one year on the court.

Didn’t know that failing to sign a civil agreement was a criminal offense with which he could be arrested. Either way, Curry is sad story, who’s book is not finished being written, but he is still young. Hope he turns his life around.

Hope the Knicks organization learns a lesson from this and won’t ever build its franchise around guys who don’t really want to play basketball ever again. You could see from Curry’s Chicago days he only played basketball because he was big. He never loved the game. I was so amped when Isiah made that trade too but I remember reading Chicago posters say we woud rue the day we traded for Curry and gave him a contract extension. They were right.

This guy was no doubt coddled by everyone because of his size and athletic skill. He is still a child psychologically and has no clue regarding how to be an adult and take responsibility for his actions. This is why the Judge is being such a hard ass with him.
He can do little harm to the Knicks at this point. At worst he just comes off the books and frees up cap space for us. At best he can give us 15 minutes a night of decent backup center play and we can leverage his expiring contract for a decent asset at the trade deadline.

I think this might be Eddy Curry’s last year in the league period!!! I think Pat Riley and …… may try and get him to go to miami next year, but other than that, I don’t see him ever being in the league again after all this…

    Amazing!
    With his life in Shambles

one would think D-Eddy would just be dying to get on the court and get his life organized.

When you mother and child get gunned down and your broke and your life is falling apart

I would suspect a Drug problem

Even in spite of his criminal approach to his contract obligations

i hope he gets his life in order. He seemed like a good guy and played hard until getting caught between Isiah and Larry Brown. 2guys who have crushed many a young mans dream

Get your life together Eddy you are a mess

Usually you see a story like this and comments that follow are “What a shame”, “Hate to see a guy not able to straighten it out”, etc. But with this over paid POS who’s basically been stealing millions from the Knicks for years to not pay $660,000 is just a joke. You’re not even earning your money, just pay up. I hope he’s stupid enough to let this drag on, let more legal issues stem from it and he winds up in jail.

Why would you want anyone sent to jail. It’s not your life. It stinks. It’s a terrible situation and the guy’s life is obviously no cupcake party. Send another black man to jail cuz he’s a bum right? Obviously something needs fixing.

He’s not paying on a settlement for having sex with a minor. That’s no cupcake of a charge either. I would love for his contract to be voided but I don’t wish jail on anyone either reguardless of his color.

Eddy has been stealing from the Knicks for years so I guess it’s only natural to let ACTUAL crimes go unpunished too.

Who knew the heart problems Eddy Curry had when we traded for him were actaully because he doesn’t have one at all. Go figure.
