Chandler is a player that knows how to gain position and go right into his move without getting called for a violation. In the post he can either go left or right or use his fadeway shot. Now that we know he has gained some extra muscle it will be a hard cover for anyone guarding him in the post. Especially with him standing at 6’8 playing shooting guard.
With regard to Danilo Gallinari, it was mentioned on Knicks Night Live that Gallo has been working out with Kobe Bryant’s trainer in Italy. If that’s not a positive sign I don’t know what is. Danilo Gallinari finished last season as one of the best deep shooters in the game. He also proved that he is not scared to go up against the best competition in the league. Besides his shooting, last season we got a glimpse of his postup game.
I’m still not sure if Chandler is guy to fit the two guard spot, but at worst, he’s a strong rotation player. He’s a good defender who can get better, but he’s shown flashes. He has to be able to prove he can finish a season as well. This is 2 years in a row he’s been shut down due to being banged up. He’s physical but hasn’t proven durable. You have to like Gallinari working with Kobe’s trainer, but he too has to make a step forward physically. Last year he was very strong at times, yet passive far too often.
I’m excited to see how both developed.

Wilson may not be an all-star, or even a definite starter, but right now he is the best two-way player we have. With so many specialists and one-dimensional players in today’s league, it is refreshing and also possibly quite an advantage to have a versatile athletic young wing player who can do everything well.
Will Asubuike prove to surpass Wilson in this department?
ummmm NO.
When I think of them getting better this year all I see is mismatches. They have the ability (if they try hard to get better) to create a lot of mismatches. Gallo can shoot over most 3′s in this league and chandler is stronger and bigger than most 2′s. It is a tandem that I would like to see flourish.
Having players that get fired up on the court like Amar’e, Turiaf, Felton, and Randolph may help light a spark under Gallo and Chandler too.
It was hard over the past few years to do that with the Knicks squad.
All I know is this is a big season for both D’Antoni and Rooster. MD has no excuses now and neither does Gallo. They are both on the clock!
Wow Gallo is working with Kobe’s trainer?! That is fantastic news!!
Al Harrington is gone! That should help both of those guys.
Al gets a bad rap….just sayin…
you wouldnt say that if he was white
I don’t think Chandler is a good fit at SG. I think he will be our sixth man this year. I could see him playing the Al Harrington role off the bench. This is how I see the minutes at each position breaking down.
PG- Felton 35 Douglas 13
SG- Azubuike 30 Chandler 10 Douglas 8
SF- Gallinari 35 Chandler 13
PF- Amare 20 Randolph 20 Chandler 8
C- Turiaf 20 Amare 15 Randolph 8 Mozgov 5
So it breaks down to:
Felton- 35
Amare- 35
Gallo- 35
Chandler- 31
Azubuike- 30
Randolph- 28
Douglas- 21
Turiaf- 20
Mozgov- 5
I don’t think Walker of Fields will get much playing time. If Azubuike isn’t ready though, things could change.
Yeah, Gallo working out with Kobe’s trainer is fantastic news. I do think Wilson and Gallo can be a very good tandem, as long as Wilson can either develop his handle or his 3 pt shot. Other than that, I’m not sure how well a Chandler/Gallo 2/3 combo works.
Hopefully both are ready for the coming season and it seems like they both are. Exciting..
Chandler at the 2 won’t work long term. He can’t create in ISO.
I think he showed potential in ISO situations last year. He obviously needs to work on his dribble, his outside shot, and getting to the FT line to further compliment his game…
the only thing there i really see him improving is his ability to get to the line. He shoots less now than he ever did, and has clearly given up on his three point game
why is it that everybody around gallo are at fault for gallo shortcomings except gallo(as if ILL WILL didn’t have to play with duhon,al,hughes, nate, and lee..btchz plz)…..why is it that everybody else is at fault for what has gone wrong the past 2 years except son…line ups need to get adjusted to make us weaker and trades need to be made to help gallo improve just to make us weaker in other areas….why is it there’s a need to bring lesser players or start lesser players for shooting purposes…..
when is gallo going to provide for us instead of everybody going out of there way to make tired and pathetic excuses for him….when is he going to provide the necessary shooting that will benefit WILSON CHANDLER…..he’s the lottery pick……you want to force feed him as being 1 of the faces of the team ..then when is he going to play like it….if there’s question about is Chandler a real 2 or not then fine don’t play him at the 2..we have like 6 SF on our team and He’s better then them ALL….we have like 3 SG and he’s better then them ALL…it’s BEEN time for gallo to be fed a hundred percent accountability instead of coddling him and protecting him from danger..if he’s really built for this stage..because he’s not..not the way some of you dudes make him out to be….why we clamoring for CP3 and Melo why we need Melo for we already have a max guy supposedly (NOT)…now we need all the help we can get because of mia or just to make the playoffs for that matter(hahahah funny dudes)..if it takes that much to bring out the best in him and our Team then he really aint much….time for son to hold his own….
at the end of the day his azz deserves to and should come off the bench and play the Harrington role…because he is better suited as a 6th man and that’s no nock…gallo is or will be like the 3rd best PF on the team(according to most on here) and gallo is or will be the 3rd best SF(according to most I actually think he’s the 2nd best) but it’s cute how he gets force fed into the starting line up like no one has notice something odd about that situation….I have….and I will continue to put his azz on blast if dudes get outta pocket overvaluing, overrating, overLYING for his azz….trust that….and it aint hate it’s calling it spade of spade..it’s being fair…I’m not saying make a bunch of trades to make us better..I’m telling you he WILL(2L’z for a reason) make us better…I make no excuses on ILL WILL……..I’M TELLING YOU HE WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE BEST 2 WAY PLAYER ON OUR SQUAD….He will SHINE regardless….I don’t care what’s around him how bad the coaches and gm are blah blah blah no excuses ..this is what I KNOW….I said it and I mint it..I’m puttin pressure on My dude..and I aint waiting to put 2 more max’z around him either..hahaha…..
I KNOW what I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LONG LIVE ILL WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to be there if you ever met Chandler in person man. Seriously.
Tommy make it happen!
ahahahahhahah…….it’s not that serious…I’m just saying…..HAHA
“Especially with him standing at 6’8 playing shooting guard.”
NO HE IS NOT 6’8……..cut it out……
