Knicks Interested In Quincy Douby?

by Myles A. Mills on August 29th, 2010 at 10:33 pm

Via HoopsWorld:

As he looks for that NBA opportunity, several teams have shown significant interest in his services.

“Sacramento was in the mix but they’re not interested anymore since they signed Pooh Jeter. My agent is talking to the Suns, Knicks, Cavaliers, and Bulls. We’re trying to see what situation will be the best for me to just get on the team and give a contribution,” he said.

    RAUTINS

  • Tomhimself

    Please no.

  • Jayo

I actually enjoy reading your posts, but your constant bashing of Felton really insults your intelligence. We get it, you don’t like the guy but c’mon with the constant hate, it’s unwarranted & uncalled for IMO. It’s like you have an agenda, to put him in the conversation of Rautins,Roberson,Duhon, etc is (for a lack of better words) STUPID. As of today is he a great PG ? No but he has the potential to be a couple notches below great in our system. Breathe easy ant stop hating ..

I will say Walsh isn’t the best talent evaluator on the block tho .. Lol

  • BrooklynsFinest1

It is kind of weird how Donnie is putting this team together, at times I wonder if it is patchwork or he has a plan.

  • Mucha

Well we’re talking about guys who won’t crack the rotation, I wouldn’t worry too much about Douby or Ewing – even though I reeeally want to see PE JR play…

  • Mucha

Btw the Knicks reportedly had the opportunity to sign-and-trade David Lee for Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azabuike or Monta Ellis.

There were rumors of a deal involving Monta Ellis and OJ Mayo before the trade deadline – did the Grizzlies pull the offer off the table after July 1st?

Because OJ Mayo + Gallinari + Stoudemire would’ve been amazing. And I’m not complaining about what we have now because I think Anthony Randolph is going to be a star.

    coem on dude.
    FELTON is awful

    have u seen him play?

he’s a gain of salt better than duhon.

i really hope he’s working on his game ALOT an proves me wrong.

    he’s another p.g in the nba i know i can beat in a 1on1

  • bob go knicks

if theres a doobie in the locker room ,wont Wilson Chandler try to smoke it?

  • clydetheglyde

I agree, look Felton may not be a great pg but he could definitely be a starter on a championship level team. Look at the Lakers Ill take felton over an aging Derek fisher any day. To compare Duhon who is at best a solid backup, to Felton, who has been a starter on playoff teams and averaged close to 15 points in his career, is ridiculous.

  • clydetheglyde

And the Knicks needed depth at the time remember turiaf is probably going to start at center this year.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

u know it,it’s not a good idea at all he will be a bad locker room influence

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

felton doesn’t have a shot nor the b-bal i.q fisher has, plus felton isn’t much quicker than fisher

  • clydetheglyde

Felton is very fast with the ball, but they are very different players, Felton is more explosive, while Fish is more of a traditional point guard. I just think he is over the hill and since he has an all star cast looks better than he is.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    explosive,i guess u think a civic is a fast car?…

dude, felton is a scrub,he has no tools none at all

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

an i know most knicks fans think he’s good cuz he had a good game against the knicks,LMAO.

so many no names has had career games on the knicks,i guess the knicks should sign them also.

  • ds2488

darn lol. That was going to be my joke. I was gonna say you better keep him away from Wilson.

  • ds2488

Yeah, Mayo would have been sick.

I was reading in the post about how Dantoni and the Knicks are apparently thinking about going with a lineup of Gallo at the 2, and while I was mostly worried it kind of has me a little excited.

Felton-Gallo-Randolph-Amare-Turiaf would be a pretty crazy lineup. Matchup problems all over(on both ends of the floor lol). But since we don’t have the most talented team, our best plan might be to go all helter-skelter and chaotic on other teams and try to force them to match up with us.

It could be a disaster(it most likely would), but there’s a chance that it could really pay off.

  • clydetheglyde

For felton I dont think 16 points 7 assists is unreasonable this year going from a defensive minded team averaging about 13 and 5 to D’ Antoni’s system. Thats so much better than Duhon ever did its not even close. Plus he plays defense.

  • Dylan

I actually love that idea. I think that Randolph is athletic enough to guard most 2′s in the league. Also, for every problem it causes for the Knicks, it is going to be a nightmare for the other team. How do you guard a 6-10 SG? Gallo will be able to get his shot off whenever he wants. Also, Randolph and Amare on the P&R would be insane. Plus, the Knicks would get an insane amount of blocked shots with four players that are over 6-10.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

we shall see an for knicks sakes i hope he has a good season.

  • BiggieSmalls

for every problem it causes for the Knicks, it is going to be a nightmare for the other team.

    soooo what’s the advantage then?

sounds like you’re saying the benefits equal the problems.

  • TG

    He can already do that…

  • blackwood

The funny thing is when I said we should trade for Mayo almost 2 months ago people “again” brushed it off lol. But now I would be more interested in getting Xavier Henry! He is not going for there contract and we can see about making a move on him. TD,Walker & Fields or something like that for Xavier Henry should work. But while Magoo ended up pulling off the G.S trade I was screaming for him to do after a while I wont hold my breath that he will be sharp enough to get it done! After all with talents like Douby out there to be had why try to bag a young cheap talent that fits our system lol.

  • blackwood

You can see silly game planing like that anytime you like just watch the G.S Donnie ball club. lol Donnie & MD birds of a feather lol!

  • Dylan

Yeah thats pretty much what I’m saying. It may be hard for Gallo/Randolph to guard quick shooting guards, but it would also be hard for small shooting guards to guard Gallo or Randolph. Gallo could get his shot off easily, and Randolph could out muscle most shooting guards. The advantages/disadvantages work both ways.

  • Hustle

Brooklyn dude, ceiling of Arenas, floor of Eddie House, sounds like he’ll make a solid backup guard to me (at the right price).

Also, Pooh Jeter is such a weird name, all I picture is a retarded cousin of Derek

  • Hustle

    On second thought:

On the downside, he isn’t much of a point guard despite standing just 6-3 and suffers from extremely poor shot-selection at times. The main thing likely holding him back from playing in the NBA is probably his lackadaisical demeanor on the defensive end, something that is just as evident in the Turkish league in his do-it-all offensive role, and isn’t likely to change in the situation he’s currently in

    Pass…

  • Jayo

Stupid trade proposals like this makes me wonder if your on (hard) drugs ..

    TD = hot trash
    Walker= wtf C’mon son
Fields = undrafted rookie (if it wasn’t for DW)

Well, Rubio won’t sign maybe this package can get him .. (jk)

  • Citiboi12

C’mon TD ain’t all that but I wouldn’t go as far as saying he’s hot trash.Thats definitely a stretch.

  • clydetheglyde

I kind of like that idea but I think a more realistic idea would be something that was brought up on Knicks night live I think where Gallo and Wilson play together, where Gallo plays the 2 on offense and the 3 on defense, and vice versa for chandler

  • Ftingue

so we seriously have nothing to talk about huh? smh dose anyone have Melo’s number lol

  • Aj

this is the funniest stuff I’ve heard all week. Lay off the doubee Douby.

  • flossy

Thank god DW had the brains to stay far away from Monta Ellis.

  • BrooklynsFinest1

This mismatch lineup idea has some assuming just because a player has height they will be able to get their shot off at anytime they want which is totally not true. Look at it this way, if Gallo misses a shot the Heat get the rebound who is getting back on Lebron or Wade, or if the Celts get the rebound who is getting back on Paul or Ray, Bucks Salmons or Brewer we may get some shots off but we better make the majority or its a layup drill/dunk contest.

  • Jayo

    +1

Personally I have yet to officially hear the idea from the Knicks but it wouldn’t be a smart move.. I luv Gallo, but he can’t guard SGs all game (like you said it would get ugly, fast).

  • HaS

Maybe not hot trash, just trash maybe?

Nah I like Toney, I see him as an energy guy off the bench who can disrupt the other team’s offense and score from the outside. Forcing him to be a point guard could be a mistake.

  • HaS

That might work on NBA 2K11, but in real life that would be pure idiocy.

I wouldn’t put it past the “coach” though, I’m sure he’ll try it at least once this season. He is this generation’s _on Nelson.
