Rautins Battling Knee Issue

the second game, however, the New York Knicks second round pick was limping noticably in the first half and never really got rolling.Head coach Leo Rautins admitted after the game, he probably should not have played him in the second half.

When the Canadian team took the floor for warmups prior to the France game, Rautins was in jeans and looking extremely dejected at the thought of not playing.

Without Rautins, the load on point guard Jermaine Anderson becomes even bigger. Anderson, who has played almost his entire National team career without a true backup, will have to log big minutes and be an offensive force against France if Canada is to have a chance in the game.

It’s been a tough first summer for the Knicks first pick in the 2nd round.

the kid has faced adversity before he will be ok. he is just eager to prove alot of doubters wrong. He is a warrior, he wants to play and get better.

  • traps9

What an awesome pick him over DaSean Butler will be. Can’t wait to see how that one turns out…….

  • SilentJay

Too bad he isn’t getting burn anymore, because he certainly isn’t gonna see time during the season.
Imo, Fields cracks the rotation sooner.

  • PickNY

Just like shooting craps! You win some you lose some. Oh well!

  • NoVaCaInE

    +1

Plenty of time to rest that knee on the bench!

  • PickNY

Fields didn’t need any help with players getting hurt in order to crack into the rotation! He definitely will earn his minutes one way or another!

  • KnickolasKnickelby

Rautins will not make the team
he doesnt defend and he shoots and then stands around
never follows his shot cant beat anyone off the dribble.

what worked in college wont work here

still good luck, im sure hes a great guy

with a coach as his father i would expect him to play a better all around game

I am President Landry Feilds Fan club

    GO LANDRY
HE REBOUNDS HE DEFENDS HE CAN RUN THE BREAK
    HE GETS TO THE LINE
    HES LANDRY FEILDS

    mos def….

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i been said he won’t make it an if he does he had the roberson effect an will be traded as an extra body

  • harris

Rautins seemed like a bad pick at the time, but the second round is always a crapshoot anyway.

  • HaS

    Cut him.

  • Jayo

Rautins is cold trash .. Yea the second round is a crap shoot but having the 38th pick should get you some value .. DW can clear cap space with the best of them but he can’t draft for sh*t .. Would rather have a warrior like Butler or an overseas project with upside .. With Mason on the team why would Rautins even see the court?(rhetorical)

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

lol.we should get a lil team together an go to 33 with signs saying cut rautins NOW

  • bduigs

He quit in the close game in the Tourney last year. Get the X-Ray machine out………no heart.

  • clydetheglyde

I dont think Rautins will play this year either, but to say he cant shoot because of 5 bad summer league games is ridiculouse. If you watched any Cuse games this year you saw how great of a shooter he is. And Boeheim loves him. Mayne if he learns some point guard skills he could be a decent player down the road.

  • Jayo

His college coach loves him…. Good point(sarcasm)

  • omegared536

d-league him till he gets his pg game up and works on his d we got enough sg’s so we’re not short on shooters anyway so if we want him around d-league him or trade him but dont waste bench space on him

  • HaS

He’ll make a decent coach one day.

  • SilentJay

That’s the best move. D League or Europe. Too bad he couldn’t go to spanish or russian team.

  • clydetheglyde

he has been outspoken about how much he likes him, it doesnt mean much but its something.

  • marcknicks88

his dad had the same problem in college and his pro career got cut short

  • Melo2NYplz

seriously… i dont give a damn bout rautins

i still dont get why we even drafted him smh

  • Citiboi12

Well I hate 2 be pessimistic but there goes another draft pick down the drain sigh………

  • HaS

He’d ride the bench for those teams too.

  • blackwood

MAGOO YOU DONE IT AGAIN!! lol What a wasted pick so many other players to be had! I just wonder who some of these guys thinks fields is going to take mins from? Gallo? Chandler? AR? Mason? Bukie? ETC ETC ETC? lawd help some of these guys.

  • dino of syracuse

    Balky knee?

Balky is defined as “given to stopping and refusing to go on…stubbornly resisting.”

Yup, gotta hate when your knee goes all balky…or did they mean Balki?!

  • dino of syracuse
  • omegared536

honestly after his bad play at summer league(i know itsor are break u getting signed) and the word on the bad knee. i dont think teams will be checking for him like that. i say use him as a trade chip for later & throw him in a curry package if u can

  • SilentJay

He’d still have a better chance on starting there than here, even if it was for garbage minutes.

  • dino of syracuse
  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

yo BLACK,he might take CURRY’S minutes

  • bob go knicks

isnt Landry Fields the best under 25 dead oralive ahahhhaabhaahhqhaahaahahahaaha?????

  • bob go knicks

we shoulda drafted Michael Jordan with that 2nd round pick!or maybe Magic Johnson….you guys are idiots

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

there were much better talent than him available BOB

  • dino of syracuse

Everyone is looking for a savior, and they want to find him in the second round? Pretty close to impossible.

And there’s a reason that Lance Stephenson, for example, wasn’t selected ahead of him.

But seriously, give the pick a shot to play. The season hasn’t even begun yet.

Likewise, I want to see what P-Ewing 2 is capable of this year…

  • http://Knicks.com/ Russ

The Knicks basically had three second round draft picks. If Rautins and Jordan are complete busts, but Landry Fields pans out, then that’s excellent. I’ll take a third of my second round picks working out as players who are good enough to play a real supporting role on a championship caliber team any day.

My recommendation to Knicks fans is to write off Jordan and Rautins. If we wind up getting anything out of them, then that’s all a bonus on top of Landry.

  • http://Knicks.com/ Russ

My guess is Rautins was D-League bound.

  • HaS

He’d ride the bench in Spain,he’d have a chance to play for Russia though.

  • HaS

Rautins was a horrible pick, it must have been a favor to someone lol.

“Likewise, I want to see what P-Ewing 2 is capable of this year…”

You mean preseason right? He’s getting cut again, unless the Knicks make a trade before the season.

  • HaS

He’ll heal and still be a bum. He can shoot, but he’s not an NBA player.

  • HaS

    Wow, “excellent”?

So, if none panned out that would be “great”.

If we had no 2nd round picks that would be “good” I guess.

  • traps9

You seen DaSean Butler play? Now, if you’re taking a flier on someone who might never play, THAT’S the kid you take the flier on.

Walsh gambled on another LeBron sidekick player for the system (see: Toney Douglas) and probably lost his chips this time. We’ll obviously have to wait and see.

  • dino of syracuse

So you’re suggesting that he’s Gerry McNamara, Pt.II?

  • dino of syracuse

I assumed that they signed P-Ew2 to some sort of non-guaranteed contract, but I wasn’t sure.

I like the fact that they’re giving him a look though. If not the Knicks, then he might get a shot somewhere.

Who knows…he’s had another year to gain experience.

  • dino of syracuse

That was a devastating injury! I would have rolled the dice on Butler. I definitely got to watch him battle in the Big East. And now he’s a LeBron sidekick(if he overcomes the injury).

Maybe Douglas and Rautins can be Melo sidekicks?

Now if what came about with Lance Stephenson is proven, would you take a flier on him if the Pacers cut him?

  • traps9

I don’t think Melo will be a point forward like LeBron would’ve been, so I can’t say I believe they’ll be the Fisher to Melo’s Kobe, no.

I don’t like Lance’s game, anyway, but I’d still say no with that situation.

  • dino of syracuse

I’ll admit…I’m happy to see some Orangemen on the squad.

I hope he can fill a role and I’m being optimistic with these picks.

An article that I was reading the other day on second-round success stories included Arenas, Ginobili, Boozer, and Rashard Lewis.

However, something like thirty percent of players chosen in round 2 in the past 10 years have actually logged one hundred games.

  • bob go knicks

but nothing that would be 100% an all star baller
