Isiah Thomas: Lebron Considered Knicks

by Myles A. Mills on September 4th, 2010 at 11:59 pm

Via ZagsBlog:

“I still think the curiosity factor and him coming to New York and being a part of the Knicks, I think that…people would’ve just been drawn to watch to see if he could do it.”

Asked if he thinks LeBron seriously considered joining the Knicks, Thomas, who was part of the Knicks’ recruiting team for King James, said, “Yeah, I think so.”

About Myles A. Mills

Myles is a sophomore at The Browning School, an all-boys private school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He's been a Knick fan as long as he can remember, and 02-03 was the last season he could remember in entirety. He hopes to one day see the Knicks in the playoffs. Myles is also fond of the Mets, and follows them vehemently, but his the bulk of his time goes to the Knicks. Myles wants to be a radio hosts on WFAN or ESPN 1050 radio, and he hopes to write for theknicksblog.com for years to come. View all posts by Myles A. Mills →

Must be a slow news day, if Isiah’s mind reading skills are news worthy. I’m watching Greece-Spain and would love to see Ricky Rubio in orange and blue.

  • bob go knicks

he should already be a knick. That whole 09 draft was a nightmare

  • moderatethis

    STFU Isiah

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i heard thru the GRAPEVINE zeke will replace donnie by the allstar break, mayb it’s just a rumors, the best part of what i heard was if he returns his job is to CAN danni boy.stay tuned folks.

  • VinnyGo

Will Larry Brown be the coach LOL. I hope he’s not back. That Melo cap space will be shot by the time next offseason comes around.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

that’s good your reading between the lines,if zeke get’s a second chance why not L.B rite.

as for the cap i think zeke bring in talent not sure if they are going to mesh

  • moderatethis

    Your obviously f*cking nuts

  • BiggieSmalls

DUCK!!! A Lebron and Isiah post..

i’d rather talk about the second coming .. Timofey Mozgov \\

with Azubuike down and Rautins likely a wasted pick this team looks painfully thin n the back court.

  • Knicks fan in Taiwan

Forget about Lebron… exciting games the last few days between Greece and Spain, Serbia and Croatia, Greece and Russia, Argentina and Serbia. Still can’t believe Puerto Rico didn’t play well enough to make it through. France looks pretty good–and that’s without Parker, Noah, Pietrus, etc. Lithuania, Brazil…what a great tournament. I’m a kid in a candy store right now. Let’s see if the U.S. and Russia get a chance to meet in the next round. This is fun.

  • Jeff C

    haha wow.

Anyone see this on real gm?

“Knicks president Donnie Walsh recently rejected a three-team deal that would have sent Anthony Randolph to Indiana, a first-round pick to Portland and Rudy Fernandez to New York, according to a team source.”

Now that would have been aweful.

  • Jeff C

Rautins likely waisted pick? That’s a very bold statement. Calling a second round pick a waste of a pick before he ever puts on a uniform.

You are right though, we are very thin in the backcourt especially if buike doesn’t suit up. We have felton and mason, and then douglas, so i guess at least that means douglas is going to be getting serious burn. It seems like they are confident in him and apparently he’s ‘worked harder than anyone’ this summer (i duno i read it somewhere), so this will be his chance to show he can play.

Also, i felt that fields’ skill set seem very 2ish to me, much more so than chandler at least, so maybe he’ll get some burn.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    u can call me planters.

  • Jeff C

    STEPH CURRY!!!!!!!

  • blackwood

Geez another Isaiah related thread, he get’s asked a question he answers honestly and gets slammed for it! Anyway on the SG matter the grizzly have that draft pick they can’t sign, let’s clear the log jam we have at the sf spot and get this guy Henry! He fits our needs to a tee! If magoo let’s this dude get by without making a legitimate run at him because he is busy chasing an over priced rudy he would have again proven he is more of an accountant then a gm.

  • bob go knicks

yeah,i’m sure thats how it works.Walsh is so busy with Rudy Fernandez ,that he’ll just let a 2 guard slip past him.he could have called the Grizz, ten times yesterday, and you would’nt know anything about it.

  • Rod Thorn

ENOUGH. Let’s not just write stories just to write stories. Let’s stop beating a dead horse. I’d rather read the nets blog. Wait, did I
    Just say that. Oh boy.

  • BrooklynsFinest1

Blackwood it seems that Henry isn’t high on Donnie or any other teams list, with all due respect I haven’t heard of him. I hear more about this Timofey and Mosgov then Azubuike.

  • TobyKnight

I detest Thomas, but based on everything I’ve heard he is correct about LBJ seriously considering NYK. Much more so than those nattering nabobs at ESPN would have you believe. It’s one of the reasons I’m not calling for DW’s head. LBJ’s team was actually pushing for him to come to NY. They saw that it was his best opportunity for a Michael Jordan type of legacy. Aside from drafting Jennings instead of Hill, I’m not sure what DW could have done to have gotten LBJ. LeBron turned out to be a person/player/competitor none of us thought he was.

Did I mention I detest Thomas?
Dolan too (just for good measure).

  • BiggieSmalls

    good call..

X would be a great addition. Would love to see him in NYC.

  • Boots

His name is Timofey Mozgov. One player, not two.

  • Boots

The best line I’ve heard, that can be repeated in mixed company, is that Cleveland mistakenly spent years looking for a Robin to partner with Batman LBJ, when it turns out that Robin LBJ really wanted a Batman.

No Batman in NY, no LBJ in NY.

  • Boots

The folow-up is that Potland was never involved in the deal. It was a trade proposed by the Pacers of Randolph for their first round pick.

Speculation is that DW is looking to deal for a first rounder to put together a Melo package so the Pacers took a shot to see if DW would bite on it.

I think Portland is trying to keep the Rudy thing going now that they realize they have over-priced him and they may be stuck with him. They obviously don’t want to fold and look bad by accepting left-overs for him, so the new guy in the front office is trying to promote the illusion of a bidding war for him when it is obvious that no team is taking their demands seriously. What new head exec wants his first deal to be a fiasco?

  • BiggieSmalls

even eternal optimist and web host Mr. Dee thinks Rautins has no NBA game. And he hurt his knee playing for Canada in the Worlds..

so yeah.. waste pick.. meaning i dont think we get anything out of him. though i like his stroke and think he MIGHT be able to contribute on an NBA level either here or somewhere else it likely wont be this year.

Fields is a heady player. hopefully he takes advantage of the opportunity.

  • BiggieSmalls

old news.. Hahn reported that the deal was solely Indiana and NYK randolph for a first rounder and was rejected by donnie..

the connection was made to Portland and Rudy without basis.

i read this morning that the Bulls are ready to give up a first for Rudy but P Town wants more.. i dont get it./

  • Knicks4life

Makes sense to me. Portland probably doesn’t feel like a late first round pick from Chicago is worth the additional salary for Rudy.

They probably feel it is more worth it to hold on to him.

Or perhaps they are just driving up the price.

  • Jayo

    Rautins has zero game.

  • Jayo

Whoever thought of this post should jump off a bridge(don’t if you can’t swim). I mean come the F on already.

  • ds2488

    Whatever lol. Who cares?

C’mon Myles. You’re better than this man.

  • BiggieSmalls

i havent seen one scouting report or pundit that had Rautins anywhere in the top 50 players.

im pretty certain if DW wanted him he could have got him as A non drafted free agent.

  • Mucha

    So what?

  • Mucha

    “Whatever lol. Who cares?”

    Exactly.

  • Mucha

    Yea wise non-move by DW.

  • BrooklynsFinest1

Sorry that’s how much I know about the second coming.

  • blackwood

finest if u read the up on it on real GM & ESPN insider (i posted that the other day) they are getting offers and I’m not saying he is a superstar what I’m saying is he has high end skills that fit our needs to a tee. Chasing rudy in a narrow sited way would be foolish. he was the 12th pick he has an Allen Houston type game (not yet that level of shooter but could be) all I’m saying is magoo needs to think outside the box here.

  • Old Knick

“The best line I’ve heard, that can be repeated in mixed company, is that Cleveland mistakenly spent years looking for a Robin to partner with Batman LBJ, when it turns out that Robin LBJ really wanted a Batman.

Real funny stuff. I mean that is it in a nutshell isnt it??? I have said before lebron did NOT want the pressure of playing in NY. He wanted to be able to take it easy not have any pressure and if u believe what I just typed then there was not a better place for him to go than miami. I mean come on. He has a bonafide at least 25 a night star next to him which is also a clutch scorer. He has a pretty good PF who can give u 20 and 10 pretty much anytime he wants. To be honest what the FRACK does lebron have to do? Score??? not really just a little maybe. All he has to do is pass the damn ball!!! He made the easiest choice.

  • MrFurious

Not sure why “what Isiah thinks…” even matters?

Could we possibly find a less credible source…Come to think of it, my son thinks LeBron seriously considered the Knicks too…he’s 8, why not interview him?

  • marman521

why in the world are we still talking about this?? who cares what Isiah has to say. it aggravates me seeing that headline.

  • Old Knick

of course LBJ considered the Knicks,he also consisered the Bulls, the Nets, the Clips etc etc etc

  • bob go knicks

How in Gods name are the KNICKS supposed to aquire a guy ,who was the 12th pick of the draft? What do you give up for him? Plus the dude is turnover prone and has a worse handle than wilson chandler

  • HaS

He did say from the beginning that winning was the most important thing to him, not the money and not the accolades, so considering all of that doesn’t his decision make the most sense?

  • HaS

Funniest thing is before the draft the 2nd round picks were the most important thing in the world and then after drafting Rautins with the first pick the excuse has been “well it was the second round it’s not a big deal if he turns out to be a bust, it’s a crap shoot”, the double talk on this blog amazes me sometimes.

  • Old Knick

    Frankly … Yes it does….
Of course I am still dissapointed as I think he along with Stat would be perhaps the best power dunkers we have ever seen on the same team since maybe darryl dawkins and Dr J on the 1977 sixers team. LOL!!!!

  • Old Knick

I am considering going to watch True Blood. I think this is the last show of the season….

  • BiggieSmalls

chandler plus a second round pick?

  • tsertain

Id rather listen to anything Isiah Thomas has to say than ESPN has to say.

No matter what anyone says about Isiah, that guy has more class in his left nut than anyone at ESPN has in their entire body.

  • Knicks4life

I specifically remember saying those second round picks would not amount to anything and people in response posting lists of 2nd round picks they felt were all-stars.

We just haven’t been that good at the draft in a very long time. That is fact.

  • harris

Uh… not sure about that one. We’ve talked about Isiah enough though.

Slow news day apparently. I guess TKB ran out of Mosgov highlights.

  • bob go knicks

its only a slow news day on this blog (tkb)Alan Hahn has some vital RUDY info

  • bob go knicks

yeah!you shoulda seen the class he had while he was blaming his daughter for his own O.D. and while he was grabbing BROWN-SANDERS ass
