Again the club was 1Oak…

  • BiggieSmalls

    there you have it

Fat Joe says it so it must be true.

  • itzyung1

No Melo said it. Read it Fat Joe asked him the question and he Carmelo said it.

  • allanhoustonfan

This. It came straight from the horses mouth.

  • BiggieSmalls

is he gonna say “no thanks Im good” at s NYC club?

  • http://twitter.com/nbaknickschants NBAKnicksChants

DVJ said he was @ the club and heard this go down. DVJ where u at man? give the people the 1st hand account.

  • Armand27

What is going to say NO, IM NOT COMING!

To a room filled with hammered NYers in a Fat Joe concert?

I will believe when i see him in a Knick jersey..

  • Armand27

He has been spending a ton of time here though.

    But so did LeBitch.

  • starksoakmase

No shot at Tommy. He is doing his job, and if true, Great job!

But I can’t get all caught up in this. There is a reason I didn’t post for most of the summer. The FA stuff was a circus and I felt like a pawn in the media’s game with “sources”. Or should I say “sources” game with the media.

If he comes, great. But I’m not thinking about Melo right now. I’m excited to see the team we have on the court.

I want to see Stat play like he did the second half of last year.

I want to see Felton have a career year.

I want to see the young guys take the next step.

I want to see Moz and Turiaf prove that D’Antoni will play a real C if they earn it (Darko never earned it) and anyone who argues the contrary is wrong.

  • dino of syracuse

He wants to come to NY…

So…play out the season in Denver, then sign. If he gets traded somewhere other than NY, then again, he’s a free agent. Come on over to the Knickerbockers.

I’d be stunned if he joins this year.

  • itzyung1

Hmmm you could say that but since every single report since the end of June said Melo wants to be here and we finally have him on record saying it and you guys are saying he’s lying.
    Wow Just Wow

  • DVJ

People who doubt this are only doing what their supposed to do after the Lebron fiasco.

    I saw it!!!
    With my own eyes!!!
    Melo said it!!

I was at Club Avenue when it went down.
Fat Joe, Chris Brown, Carmelo and Reggie Bush were in the spot.

People who were there don’t care what other people believe.

    Melo will be a Knick.

    Dueces!!

  • moderatethis

    Damn just accept it.

  • jlef1

I want melo to sign with us next year… but this story is sort of rediculous

  • starksoakmase

That’s all well and good,i hope he does come but….

remember in Hoosiers when the whole school was chanting for Jimmy?

Hackman said “this is your team!”

  • DVJ

    It’s not a story homeboy.
As much as I come on here and read the rest of the rumors do you think I would just make this stuff up?

I SAW MELO SAY HE’S COMING TO NY!
I SAW FAT JOE ASK MELO IS HE COMING TO NY AND MELO SAID YES!!
I SAW CHRIS BROWN LEAD THE CHANT OF KNICKS WITH MELO SMILING EAR TO EAR AGREEING TO EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON.

You can listen to Berman or whoever bro but I’m telling you from one blogger to another that loves the Knicks.

Now, I don’t know if he’ll be traded to us but if he doesn’t he’s def signing here in the offseason.

    Bleeeeedat!!!

  • Brookdon

Kinda like Lebron was in NYC at that restaurant with Amare and Allan Houston. I’ll believe it when it comes out on YouTube Lol.

  • CircleLimit4

I’ll say this is a good sign, but a lot can happen between now and free agency. I’m sure Melo was on the sauce and minds can easily change. I’ll stay cautiously optimistic.

  • Old Knick

    Only time will tell!

  • TEHRON

Sources say that “Melo was in fact DRUNK when he said that he would be a knick.” And realised later that “he couldn’t take it back once he said it”

“He kept asking for a Time Machine” say sources… “he was pretty drunk”

Sources also say that “RAFA NADAL was also in attendance leading a CONGA LINE”

Disclaimer: identity of sources hidden to protect sources from sources.

    :)

  • harris

Lol-Very good! That’s about what all this nonsense amounts to

  • TEHRON

Ahhhh, I’m just tired of it is all :)

  • jay from the fix

lol some of u guys are unbeilevable lol, big im with u. So in a club in ny with all knicks fans u expect melo to say i cant answer that or worse if he said no? the crowd would turn on him in that club. I want melo here btw.

  • RocNY

Or he could have said, “we’ll see” and gave himself some wiggle room. He seems to be pretty cool with Fat Joe, so dont you think they may have had this conversation already and thats why Fat Joe brought up the question? It can obviously all change, but its obvious that right now Melo wants NY.

  • Rod Thorn

Hey Dolan. Get rid of isiah and bring in Fat Joe. He can really get us the big FA’s.

  • Old Knick

Oh please can the season start already!

  • jay from the fix

RocNY- He could have but he was prob drinking the clubs hyped up all having a good time and he would ruin it by saying “we will see”

  • jay from the fix

+1 lol, Fat Joe for GM lol hahahahahaa

  • Brad Lohaus 54

he isn’t leaving a large unknown amount of money on the table to come to the knicks.

if he wants to be here he will force a trade here, and only here

  • KnickFan4Life

Whatevers man. I don’t believe it till I see him with the jersey at the press conference…

  • KV

Lebron use to get asked the same questions but he never gave a definite answer………melo is from this city…….Lebron was like a flirting prostitute…..things change…….they never stay one way……Amare didn’t just come here for no damn money……he could’ve gotten the same amount on several other teams………..he was the only free agent that didn’t really have to much to say about lbj……….he said it when he first got here….” I came cause tony parker and carmelo Anthony promised me they would come if I did………what would be his reason to lie

  • HaS

    I’m with Circle.

  • HaS

The could have asked him if he was coming to the Mets and he probably would have said yes in a NY club chanting for him lol.

Is Carmelo able to form complete sentences? Chris Paul has said it, Amar’e has said it, Fat Joe has said it, unnamed sources have said it, Tommy has said it, but all he can say himself is “yes”?

    SMH

    I hope so.

  • HaS

    Melo’s message to NY:

    “yes”

    LMAO

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

i think the KOOL AID is over flowing

  • bob go knicks

I think i saw ELVIS at a dunkin donuts

  • KV

People sound ignorant when they think its all about money………if he isn’t leaving a large amount of cash on the table to come here and its all about money………what the hell is stopping him from signing an extension that has been on the table since June????…….he just saw those dudes in southbeach take a pay cut to win……..his mind will definitely be made up when he has to face that three headed monster in the season……….melo and cp3 is after him……..watch.

  • clydetheglyde

Just wait till free agency, keep Gallo and AR they both could be very good players. He wants to be here and so will other stars after he comes( CP3, D Will) This is going to happen in the NBA with what the Heat have put together so why cant it happen for the Knicks.

  • donnie_brasco

A drunk mans words are a sober mans thoughts

  • HaS

“People sound ignorant when they think its all about money”

Funny, I think it’s ignorant for people to say they KNOW the money isn’t important to him lol.

“what the hell is stopping him from signing an extension that has been on the table since June????”

I love the extra punctuation on this one, maybe the fact that he doesn’t have to sign it? He’s already getting paid and he has until next June (if I’m not mistaken) to sign the extension. Not to mention it’s his only leverage to either force a trade or coerce management to make improvements to the team.

“his mind will definitely be made up”

In 9-10 months anything can happen, including a 26 year old simply changing his mind. I think it would be a huge risk to wait until next year for him to enter free agency.

  • italian stallion

I wish this Melo story would go away already. He’s not that good!

I’d much rather focus on whether Amare is actually a significant upgrade over Lee or whether he is overrated because he has played with great players and had some playoff success but Lee hasn’t.

In other words, if Lee played with Nash etc.. last year and went deep into the playoffs but Amare was losing here, would we still think this was such a big upgrade?

I’d rather focus on where Anthony Randolph and Gallo are going to play and whether they are going to step up a full level and become high quality starters.

I’d rather focus on whether Felton is actually a significant upgrade over the Duhon we saw the previous year from last.

Those are the questions that are going to determine whether we have any fun this year and in the future.

  • http://www.youtube.com/tharealest62qb DaGawD_KnowLedge

    what was he ordering?

  • HaS

Where are all the forwards going to play?

    SF:
    Carmelo
    Gallinari
    Chandler
    Walker
    Fields
    Pat Ewing Jr.
    Randolph?

    PF
    Amar’e
    Randolph

  • J_Starks3

That is when all the trade rumors for Paul will come in play. We got assets.

  • HaS

    Amar’e > Lee

Randolph 3/4 (5? spot minutes if he’s gotten stronger) Gallinari 3 (4? spot minutes if he’s gotten stronger) won’t know until the season if they step up.

Felton = Duhon on a good night.

  • clydetheglyde

exactly and we will have a strong bench and players that can play multiple positions.

  • J_Starks3

Melo is from Maryland. He went to school at Syracuse.

  • http://www.realmets.com Where expiring contracts happen

Reminds me of the time in 2003 when Carmelo told a crowd of Syracuse students be would return his Sophomore season to try and repeat titles.

In other words, this story means absolutely nothing.

On a personal note, I’m a bit upset that this site has turned into TMZ lite. Tommy should choose not to post these inane stories but that’s my opinion (I am not a Tommy hater for the record).

Let’s focus on the roster, the coaching and stories we hear from camp, lest we get caught up another media fiasco ala Queen James

  • clydetheglyde

Felton is definitely better then Duhon, who plays no D and whos offensive skills are lacking in every area but passing.

  • J_Starks3

Dont forget hat he is very involve in the CB talks and I think hat he is waiting for that to be resolve and hen he will make his mind up.

  • KnickFan4Life

He was born here and lived here until he was eight. He does have ties here for whatever that is worth…

  • BleedBlueAndOrange

We all know he WANTS to be in NY but we will soon see how much he is willing to DO to make it happen. Forget all this lip service, actions have always spoken louder than words…

  • flossy

“Felton = Duhon on a good night.”

    Come ON.

Duhon = career back-up, career averages of 7 and 5 and has never had more than 1 steal per game. Falls apart when asked to play starters minutes.

Felton = career starter, career averages of 13/6.5/1.5 steals. Has actually been the starting PG on a playoff team. Plays in an average of 80 games per season. Will probably flourish in an uptempo offense.

I’m not saying Felton is AMAZING or anything but he is like night and day compared to Duhon.

  • http://twitter.com/nbaknickschants NBAKnicksChants

I’d rather Tommy give us everything Knicks related and filter the articles myself. You don’t have to read every topic.

  • Armand27

    Peanut Butter and Nanna donuts!

It was like 4am and he may have been drunk because they asked him if he was doing an album with fat joe and TI, he said, UH Huh daddy.

  • thebossandbenji76

OK, so now someone who saw this needs to put the video they recorded on their cell phone of him saying this and put it up on youtube or on here, let everybody see it, and then everybody will believe it. Once that goes up there then denver will have no leverage at all.

  • http://twitter.com/nbaknickschants NBAKnicksChants

Perhaps the NYTimes should omit all articles related to the Mosque near Ground Zero because I think it’s a silly debate?

  • Armand27

As you can imagine, the people behind him on line went NUTS.

  • traps9

HaS might not have meant it this way, but I think that’s a backhanded compliment. I thought Duhon on a good night (2008) was very good. No Nash, but very good.

  • starksoakmase

dude, its a blog, not the NYT.I don’t fault Tommy for posting it if it is what he hears. In fact, he did a good job breaking it.

but I agree, i rather talk about the team we have.

  • ds2488

This isn’t even news. Nothing happens until it happens, and just because a probably drunk Melo said what people wanted to here when he was out enjoying himself, it doesn’t mean anything. Business is business, and recreation is recreation.

It’s like Lebron all over again. We’re just going to crazy with all this speculation. Let’s wait and see what happens, and in the meantime try to actually enjoy and root for the players who are here instead of constantly pining for players who aren’t. The season hasn’t even started yet and we’re setting ourselves up for failure and disappointment. Ah, the life of a Knicks fan.

  • starksoakmase

I agree, I wish we wouldn’t hear this stuff until something is about to happen, but Melo is that good.

The thing that Lee wasn’t is a leader. from what I’m seeing, Amare wants the spotlight, and if he doesn’t he’s got it anyway. I think he excels.

Gallo has to work on his shot selection.I don’t want him leading the league in three’s again. I want him to take it to the hole and get to the line. he is good at it. D’Antoni got Wilson to lay off the three’s, hope he does the same with Gallo.

I don’t know what to expect from AR. It would be nice it he can be a AK47 type(the healthy one). A Mr. Everything.

Felton is an upgrade, no doubt about it. He can play.

i’m hoping Moz can come in and do what he did with Russia. contest, set picks, and finish strong down low.

  • J_Starks3

Felton = Duhon on a good night? Really……

  • HaS

Like when LeBron was pointing to the ground in a NYC nightclub while dancing to “Already Home” by Jay-Z and hamming it up with the NY crowd?

Nah this is different, it’s Fat Joe.

  • HaS

    Duhon had some good nights.

  • ds2488

    lol.

  • HaS

If going to ONE meeting is “very involve in the CB talks”, I agree.

  • HaS

Who on that list besides Randolph (who hasn’t settled into a position yet) or maybe Gallinari (he’ll have to prove he’s gotten stronger) can play “multiple positions”.

Or are you taking the word of a “coaching staff” who thinks Shawn Marion or Wilson Chandler is a prototypical PF in their system?

    LOL

  • http://www.realmets.com Where expiring contracts happen

Probably the stupidest comparison that could be made. Your lack of perspective is poorly thought out and alarming.

  • clydetheglyde

I pretty much was just talking about Gallo and Randolph because they are the players who we are talking about trading.

  • EJ-NYHOOPS

    @HaS

Damn…granted opinions are opinions, but YOU’RE having a bad game today here in blog stadium:

-You said “Felton = Duhon”…ridiculous…Felton is better at every skill you can name, and plays tough late in games (as the knicks and other saw first hand),and lead a playoff team…Duhon crawls under a rock in the 4th quarter, if he’s even put in the game at that point.

-This is maybe the third time you’ve mentioned this terrible log jam at SF if Melo comes in FA. If the below list happened we’d be thrilled, cause we’d have great flexibility and increased assets.

See below next to each guy on your list, where I noted one of many scenarios for each:

-”Where are all the forwards going to play?”

    SF:
    Carmelo – obvious starting SF
Gallinari – minutes backing up 3/4 or traded
Chandler – minutes at 2, but most likely traded
Walker – limited minutes at 2/3, traded or dumped
Fields – already has trade value as throw in
Pat Ewing Jr.- cut or kept as pratice player
Randolph – minutes at 3/4/5 defined as the season develops — and if this year he’s without Melo, his trade value could soar

They obviously won’t keep everyone, and a couple of them from your list will be gone even before we sign melo in FA to create room and space…if in fact he comes here.

  • BobbyFromBK

    Exactly, Mr. Bigs.

Hey Tommy, didn’t you spread another rumor a few months back that another baller named LBJ was also gonna be a Knick? Your rumors and a Metro Card (with money on it) will get me on the subway.

  • KV

Some dudes can’t read…..I never said money didnt play A PART……..but it isn’t everything…..that’s why he hasn’t resigned……….everybody is big on this dude resigning with a team that has damaged bigs that won’t return til February, an aging team whose most important pieces have 8yrs or more with serious injury backgrounds, and whose relevancy in the west is falling out of favor with time……………..what reason does he have to stay???……65mill……..be real………if the man felt that the money was gonna be a problem, he wouldn’t have hesitated…………….no if they trade for some pieces he likes, maybe he’ll stay…….until then, he’s gone.

  • HaS

“Felton is better at every skill you can name, and plays tough late in games (as the knicks and other saw first hand)”

    LOL

He dominated a terrible Knicks team, that’s first hand proof?

    “and lead a playoff team”

He got to the 1st round and laid an egg, while being dominated by Jameer Nelson.

    Didn’t they get swept?

I said he was Duhon on a good night. When Duhon had a good game the Knicks won. He had a 22 assist night he had good defensive nights and good shooting nights (he’s probably a better shooter than Felton though). It’s not really an insult, Felton is not an elite point guard he is ok. That’s it.

    “They obviously won’t keep everyone”

My statement was to the people who are insisting on holding onto everyone and wait to get Carmelo at the end of the season as if they all can co-exist on the team. Some of the same people have put Gallo or Melo at the 2, Amar’e at the 5 (where he’s made it clear he does not want to play).

IF Chandler has developed a handle and can play at the 2 that would be great, but we have yet to see that.

  • HaS

“D’Antoni got Wilson to lay off the three’s, hope he does the same with Gallo.”

And got Jeffries to start taking them?

I don’t think _’antoni has ever told a player not to shoot a three.

AR as a healthy AK would be a good look.

  • HaS

Both of their initials are names of guns.

    LOL

  • EJ-NYHOOPS

    @HaS

I guess you like laughing at the truth, as Felton beat Duhon in every stat category last year…including FG%, FT%, and 3-point FG%…last I checked those categories speak to shooting ability…so you must be doing some type of new math to say Duhon’s a better shooter.Felton’s a floor general, who lead some big wins vs. real teams last year, not only against the knicks (and your boy Duhon).

He lead a Bobcat team with little more talent than the knicks to the playoffs…at least that’s an accomplishment. Duhon was awful in meaningless games, when it’s often easier to pad stats and have a streak of indv.good games. Orlando sweeping Charlotte is Felton’s fault? Come on man.

Anyone who thinks we add Melo in FA and keep all those forwards is crazy…there will be no log jam, just trades to improve add better our guards and centers.

No one said Felton is all-world…but he’s an upgrade from Du-Little…and he’ll distrubte the ball the right way, and make our players better. He’s there to play a key supporting role, not be a super star.

  • RedHolzman

Lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back

what’s love gotta do, gotta do wit it?

  • HaS

“I guess you like laughing at the truth, as Felton beat Duhon in every stat category last year…including FG%, FT%, and 3-point FG%…last I checked those categories speak to shooting ability…so you must be doing some type of new math to say Duhon’s a better shooter”

    LOL

    Funny.

I was talking about career shooting percentages. Felton shot less last year and his numbers were better than his career shows, hopefully he keeps it up, he was in the 20′s in 3pt shooting percentage before he played under Larry Brown who obviously is very strict with his guards. Under _’antoni I would expect more shots and probably a lower percentage. We’ll see.

Like I said, him being Duhon on a good night isn’t a bad thing. When Duhon played well the Knicks won, hopefully he lives up to my compliment.

“He lead a Bobcat team with little more talent than the knicks to the playoffs…at least that’s an accomplishment.”

“Felton’s a floor general, who lead some big wins vs. real teams last year, not only against the knicks (and your boy Duhon).”

When Duhon had good games, like I said we usually won those games, he had good games against good teams while he was here and he controlled the pace as a “floor general”, he was just maddeningly inconsistent, probably out of shape and had no backup.

I hated Duhon, so he’s not my “boy” lol.

“He lead a Bobcat team with little more talent than the knicks to the playoffs…at least that’s an accomplishment.”

Better coach, one who (as neurotic as he was here) demands defense.

“Orlando sweeping Charlotte is Felton’s fault? Come on man.”

He played terrible on both ends of the floor. They lost. Not sure what else you want from me here. You said “he lead a playoff team”. He stank it up in the playoffs is more like it.

“Anyone who thinks we add Melo in FA and keep all those forwards is crazy…”

I’m not one of those people. Read.

“No one said Felton is all-world…but he’s an upgrade from Du-Little…”

    Never said he wasn’t.

“and he’ll distrubte the ball the right way, and make our players better.”

When Duhon had a good night he did the same.

“He’s there to play a key supporting role, not be a super star.”

    Who said he was? SMH

  • EJ-NYHOOPS

    @HaS

-Career stats are more important than what’s currently happening???…based on your boy Duhon averaging 6 points for the Bulls for 4 years…LOL…now that’s really funny. You going to include his career H.S stats also?

Players improve man , and Felton shot better on all counts last year…he got better and Du-Little got worse…on your silly career argument: Felton still has a better career FG% than Du-Little, and it’s based upon 12 – 14 ppg and he did it against starters.

-Getting to the playoffs is an accomplishment-FACT-,certainly better than Duhon signing a deal and leading his team to the basement for the duration. Felton was outplayed by Nelson yes, as he’s on another level…no one disputes that, but it’s one playoff series and the guys he was feeding couldn’t hit the side of a barn (check out “smoking gun” Stephen Jackson’s %’s from that series)—Felton’s fault too I suppose.

Even on the shocking few nights Duhon played a decent game….it would all be first half…and he was the invisable man in the second half. Felton’s better than Duhon on a good night…you shall see.

  • HaS

Felton shot less for a coach who’s all about good shot selection (the antithesis of _’antoni) I guess you feel that has nothing to do with his shooting numbers, but I guess time will tell. I’m not even saying that Felton isn’t better than Duhon lol. Relax no one is going to take away your Felton action figure lol, he’s a good guard just not elite.

If Jameer is in your words “on another level” then where does that leave Ray Ray? Or is Jameer an elite point guard by your assessment, imho he’s 2nd tier at best so that would make Felton 3rd tier? Give me a break.

I was not a fan of Duhon and I definitely wasn’t a fan of him as a starter with no backup for 2 seasons as the “coach” apparently was, but he was a decent backup point guard until he broke down and then last year reported in less than stellar shape.

    Duhon = good backup

Felton = borderline starting point guard

    Feel better?

  • http://twitter.com/OneNastyNupe Nupe1911

whatever dude. it may be all true that he is coming to NY, but we won’t take your word for it. You are the same one that guaranteed Lebron coming here from your sources etc etc. How did that turn out? Stay patient friends. Lets just see this thing play out. Seriously. If he comes good. If not good too lets move on.

  • EJ-NYHOOPS

    @HaS

…and no one’s taking away your Duhon blow up doll. Lol

I feel fine man…jameer was an all-star…feltons a productive starting point guard with some upside…Orlando should pray jameer doesn’t get hurt with du-little in the wings.

    We’ll see what happens…

  • HaS

I don’t like Duhon, never did. Not here. Not on the Bulls. And most especially not on Duke. Hate Duke. Always have. I certainly didn’t like him here without a backup as I am against I’m not a fan of Felton with no backup.

Felton’s been in the league 5 years, it’s always funny how players have selective upsides designated by the resident homers. Does he still have upside? I doubt it, but maybe. I’m sure he’ll play freer with a less structured and less disciplined offense, but I’m not expecting him to win most improved player of the year like some of you.

Like you said, “We’ll see what happens…”
