CBS: Wolves Pushing for Randolph

by Tommy Dee on December 29th, 2010 at 4:38 pm

Via CBSsports.com

Sources say the Wolves also are targeting Anthony Randolph, who is languishing on the Knicks’ bench after being acquired from Golden State as part of the sign-and-trade arrangement that landed David Lee in the Bay Area. Minnesota officials will not part with Ridnour in the deal, according to an executive familiar with the team’s strategy, but instead hope that Telfair would be enough to solve the Knicks’ backup point guard dilemma.

We’ve talked about the Telfair situation already in addition to the fact that Randolph has been shopped for more than a few weeks.  The Knicks would love to add Ridnour, but seemingly as a move after they have more clarity on the Melo situation. As a centerpiece to the David Lee trade, there is no way the Knicks will trade Randolph straight up for Telfair. I’ll hold off on using the other point guard playing outside the continental United States. I’ll leave those comments to you guys.

  • PickNY

I hear you TD! I’m sure DW doesn’t have a problem handing AR over for Rubio, since coach doesn’t want to play him. Try it DW and lets see what happens!

  • bbrody1

I think if anything this just makes the Wolves a good team for three team deal for Melo – they have plenty of picks and maybe we also end up with a backup point like Flynn(really don’t want Telfair). They’re shopping Flynn because they really believe Rubio is going to sign with them….

  • Old Knick

    “Randolph straight up for Telfair.”

    IS STRAIGHT UP BULLSNOT!!!!!!!!!!
    NOPE NEVER NEVER EVER!!!!
I DONT EVEN WANT TELFAIR BETTER BE RIDNOUR OR EFF OFF!!!

  • bduigs

    Telfair – No

    Rubi”bro” – Yes

  • ionmic

I’d be more inclined to inquire about Randolph plus what to get Blatche and McGee, keep mcgee and flip Blatche off to Denver

  • Melo2NYplz

Kevin Love for Anthony Randolph straight up

SOME BODY PULL OUT THE ESPN TRADE MACHINE TO SEE IF IT WORKS FINANCIALLY …………

  • TrentMotherTucker

Minnesota doesn’t have any “assets” to land Randolph.

    It’s kind of ironic.

In Golden State he was “misused” on the bench in New York he’s “languishing” on the bench.

  • nikurbokir

Would Rubio run to sign with the knicks for a backup PG role??

  • ds2488

    agreed.

  • ds2488

That would be a bad joke to get just Telfair for Randolph. This dude needs to be playing, it’s as simple as that.

  • NYK_4_Lyfe

just to lower his stock further??

  • KV

Trade AR for telfair and rights to rubio…..that’s fair cuz telfair is trash but we can use his contract and rubio is a prospect just like AR

  • Knicks21

Trade Randolph and Mason Jr. for Ridnour and a 2nd round pick

  • giantg

Don’t believe the hype the sequel:

Very little is factual in this story beyond the spelling of names. Another example of CBS reaching for eyeballs at any cost (as gross as that may sound).

  • KV

You can’t please Knick fans…..We wanna win but we want the coach to play a “prospect” that is not ready and he (AR) has shown he’s not ready…..We wanted lbj but now folks are against bringing melo in…don’t get it

  • DRKNGHT

    I concur!

  • Knicks21

    agreed

  • TobyKnight

    How about this trade
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24mzcg5

Plus TWolves send Denver a #1 pick (not their own)
Knicks send 3 mil to Denver and 3 mil to Minnesota

    Knicks get
    Melo
    Telfair
    Koufos

    Denver gets
    Gallo
    Curry
    Azibuke
    Hayward (from Wolves)
    1st rd pick
    3 mil cash

    Wolves get
    AR
    TD
    3 mil cash

Knicks get Melo, a backup center and a backup PG
    Still retain Chandler and Fields
Move up Mason into the back up 2 and hope he rises to the ocassion

    Felton
    Fields
    Melo
    Stat
    Turiaf

    bench
    Chandler
    Koufos
    Mozgov
    Williams
    Telfair
    Mason
    Rautins

Would like to get Ridnour instead of Telfair, but I’m trying to be realistic.

  • Knicks21

    Hayward? hes on the JAzz

  • Amare4MvP

Anthony Randolph will not be part of a trade because DW knows he will be needed to get a Carmelo should Denver decide to talk to the knicks.

  • xMrRocknRollx

Seriously, unless they are giving us back a 1st rounder and something else, no way would Telfair for Randolph be fair. On the other hand, Ridnour + a 1st rounder for Randolph seems a lot more fair. Then we kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

  • DRKNGHT

Yea, I was hoping they would give the kid a chance. What ever happen to building for the future?

  • thebossandbenji76

If the Wolves give us there 1st round pick this year with Telfair that we can use to trade for Melo, then u have to think about it. Randolph to the Wolves for Telfair and a #1 this year? If it means getting Melo in the end u may have to do it.

  • Amare4MvP

You will need to give up two of the three in gallo, chandler, and landry. You cant expect to trade crap and get studs the nuggets want two of the three and rightfully so.

  • DRKNGHT

Dude, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Let’s work with what we have. We can Make AR our KG!

  • Amare4MvP

DW will not trade Anthony Randolph for a first rounder unless he knows he can get Carmelo. If we don’t need to trade that first round pick Randolph has value in the future for this team and the developmental process begins.

  • bbrody1

Well if Minny wants Mayo and Randolph maybe something like this would work…

    Minny gets Mayo and Randolph

Memphis gets Chandler (who they apparently like if you believe websites like realgm/cbs) Toney Douglas and filler like S Williams/Mason to make the numbers match.

Knicks gets Melo, Flynn, JR Smith

Denver gets Wesley Johnson, Curry, Buike, and some picks/cash from Minny/NY – i think Minny has three 1st rounders next year….

Denver gets what they want in a great young prospect, picks and cap relief

  • blackwood

To be honest I dont mind Telfair as a back up PG but we cant get raped so why not this…

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29sm8qg

Saves them 8M next year & to be honest between them pushing for Mayo (thats the new buzz) & being stacked with players & contracts at the same position that Johnson plays it works for them. It also works for us to be honest not only fo more bench depth but also in trade options past that.

  • NK

This shows imagination. Telfair is trash, but he’ll be fine for 15 mpg as felton’s back up, his contract ends and Rubio becomes the back-up next year. Also, by not trying to force Douglas to play PG, you have a nice 2nd unit SG. Telfair and TD playing together? that would be interesting, maybe terrible but interesting. Sign Barron, and you wait to see IF Melo materializes before making any other moves.

  • Jayo

” Ridnour + a 1st rounder for Randolph seems a lot more fair. Then we kill 2 birds with 1 stone.”

We would probably have to throw in some cash or Mason but this should be Donnie’s line of thinking on this particular subject.

  • bbrody1
  • Amare4MvP

They wont give up Wesley Johnson. A lot of trades could work if the players are available but most of them are not.

  • HaS

I’d rather have Ridnour than either Telfair or Rubio, the latter can stay in Spain thanks.

So we’re just going to shop Randolph without giving the kid a chance or sending him to the D-League? Ok.

I thought Walsh would never trade a guy with his value as low as it’s ever been?

    Oh well.

  • ds2488

just to finally and truly see what they have.

The guy’s stock can’t possibly go any lower. He’s shooting like 25% in limited playing time. He has talent and he can significantly help this team in 2 key areas- on the boards and anchoring a zone defense.

  • Amare4MvP

Denver isn’t getting enough remember just like we are getting a top player in Carmelo they are Giving up a top player. These trades are not enticing at all.

  • Jayo

You really think the coach is gonna develop AR ? I think not, if we can get a pick & a player, be it Minny, Houston, or Indy I say we jump on it..

  • ds2488

I’d still love Rubio in a backup role, but he’s too big of a diva for that to happen is my guess.

But agreed, Ridnour over Telfair for sure.

And also, I agree, Randolph needs a chance and I don’t think DW will trade him unless he’s needed in a Melo trade.

  • blackwood

Lol my bad I forgot on TKB there can be no discussion of trade without it turning in to the Melo show again.

  • bbrody1

i thought a player can be moved to the d-league only if they are in their 1st or 2nd year

  • Amare4MvP

You guys need to decide what you want: 1. IF you want Anthony Randolph to play then your putting the team at risk and there’s a good chance that we wont win many games. If you want the knicks to win games and be competitive then the best players should be on the floor. If Randolph was competitive maybe this would drive him to success.

  • Jayo

    ^reaching

  • Amare4MvP

Randolph has done nothing apparently to impress the coaches even a little. Minutes should be earned and hard work gets you there.

  • EwingStarksOak

if we trade for Telfair the Knicks will still need a decent backup PG and will then also need to find a guy like Randolph to rebound & block shots

  • Jayo

“IF you want Anthony Randolph to play then your putting the team at risk and there’s a good chance that we wont win many games.”

Are you Friggin kidding me ?

How many games has TD/Gallo/Williams/Turiof played where they are invisible ? I swear some people have a clear cut agenda.. Smh

  • blackwood

They wont give him up because? They just got Webster the exact same player as Johnson as well as Wellington who they drafted. They also want to chase after Mayo so where does Johnson play?

I am looking at there line up payroll & who they give run & who they dont. Ar was a lottery pick as well so what would be the argument when they are not really losing anything & are in fact gaining cap space next year?

  • eraff1005

A talented young big who MIGHT be able to play for an over hyped PG who can’t play…. How does this help?

  • Newbie

With all the talk of trading / looking for a back up pg, why didn’t/don’t the Knicks just resign S. Rodriguez? I thought he would’ve been a pretty solid back-up in a fast tempo offense. additionally, his numbers were solid last year – http://www.nba.com/playerfile/sergio_rodriguez/career_stats.html.

    thoughts anyone?

  • Amare4MvP

A pick is only valuable as a trade asset at this point whoever you draft most likely you will have to develop so there’s no question Randolph has the talent and athleticism so yes i think if he cant be used in a Carmelo trade then he shouldn’t be traded.

  • fauci933

    Lazar Hayward, not Gordon

  • Amare4MvP

Teams dont trade their lottery pick so easily. Sacramento has a lot of centers and they stink but they wont trade cousins. Because you never give up on these players.. Wesley has more upside then any of those guys.

  • Amare4MvP

If you watch the Games Gallo even when hes invisible is a key part of the offence because he is a threat to shoot the ball and he spaces the floor. Turiaf protects the rim and brings energy. Shawn williams helps space the floor and shoot threes. and TD is just the best option we have as of now to back up felton. What does Randolph bring to the table? Please tell me from what you have SEEN not from what you have HEARD.

  • NK

Probably right about No AR before melo is done one way or the other. Sign Barron, get anyone in to play 15 mpg behind Felton. Give AR SOME time to spell Stat. Stay patient and keep options open for Melo. That’s the way this rolls.

  • bbrody1

hes playing in europe for real madrid

  • blackwood

Reaching for reality! Do you really think any team wants to help us?? If so you are ether saying Walsh is a fool who is not able to make a big trade or that he has no clue what he is doing?

I may not be a fan of Walsh but I refuse to believe the guy has not turned over every rock, contacted every team & tried to make every offer he could but in the end he cant force Denver to trade with us!

  • eraff1005

PS—All of you “PLayer Development” Guys…That STARTS with the Player, Not the Coach!!!

Get in the game and be a HELPER…..Randolph comes in to the game and seemingly wants to check off his “Bucket List” of demonstrating his skills— He doesn’t seem to sense that an actual basketball game is being played.

The game exists for the team—it’s NOT a Self Actualization oportunity for players! That’s why fields and Williams have gained minutes—it’s why Walker and Randolph sit.

  • Newbie

yes, but why didn’t the knicks resign him? it didn’t even look they made an effort.

  • Jayo

I said for a pick & a player.. But you claim playing AR will make us lose. So why keep him ? I don’t really understand your logic. He can’t get better from the bench.

Play him or trade him IMO..

  • NK

you’ve convinced me — no telfair. garbage is garbage.

  • thebossandbenji76

Well a mason and Randolph deal for Telfair and pick actually frees up cap space and we can use the pick to trade for melo and by the way, Fields, Gallo and Curry will be in the deal as well.

  • clyne

Chandler and AR for Love works…and I like it a lot too…

  • Jayo

No, I’m saying not too many people mentioned Melo on this thread. Forget it.

  • blackwood

had to make sure this point was not missed…Do you really think any team wants to help us?? If so you are ether saying Walsh is a fool who is not able to make a big trade or that he has no clue what he is doing?

I may not be a fan of Walsh but I refuse to believe the guy has not turned over every rock, contacted every team & tried to make every offer he could but in the end he cant force Denver to trade with us!

There are better deals that will come & some teams who will roll the dice on Melo thinking he can put them over the top or a foolish team that will think if we can just get him here im sure we can convince him to stay. So if anything should have been learned from LBJ is to never live or die on what one player does & look to make a better TEAM while still maintaining the ability to be a player when a star is on the market.

  • Amare4MvP

What player? and yes because i said you dont make minimal changes with someone who has value like Randolph. He can be the one who we ship the draft pick to denver and get carmelo. If we cant and carmelo extends somewhere else then we can have that discussion.

  • clyne

    Chandler and AR for Love
then sign Melo as a FA…

    2011-12 Knicks
    STAT
    Love
    Melo
    Fields/Gallo
    Felton

  • Amare4MvP

This notion that teams dont want to help us may be true on some levels but is blown out of proportions. Teams care about themselves first. If we give them a offer that improves their teams they wont say “no… screw the knicks”…

  • cornbread

“I’d be more inclined to inquire about Randolph plus what to get Blatche and McGee, keep mcgee and flip Blatche off to Denver”

i really like Mcgee but I’m worried how much of a headcase he would be here in New York with our nightlife…one big IF.

  • blackwood

My bad I get so bombarded with Melo stuff I misunderstood what you where trying to say. Seems we can agree that some reality is needed on the Melo crap lol. The guy is coming here as a FA or not at all but it does not seem to register for some.

  • Jayo

Lol, I get it you don’t think AR can play. So let me make some vague comment as to what AR can do while being invisible, he can rebound, run the floor well for a big, he can block shots, he can DEVELOP..

all the players I mentioned get several chances to screw up, but AR is an idiot because he makes mistakes..

Everyone says dont destroy the core because were not winning a chip this season, but noooo don’t let AR & Moz play because they will mess with the regular season wins…

TKB= whatever helps your argument at the time..

  • Jayo

“Randolph comes in to the game and seemingly wants to check off his “Bucket List” of demonstrating his skills— He doesn’t seem to sense that an actual basketball game is being played.”

    I’m done…

  • thebossandbenji76

actually, the wolves might be willing to give the Knicks a pick if it meant getting out of that division as well as the conference

  • thebossandbenji76

Sounds like according to realgm.com, yao ming is in play via trade if anyone wants to take a chance on him. Anything is better then eddy curry.

  • Jayo

I’ve never seen a non-championship contender so reluctant to develop players(Moz,AR).

Oh maybe the coach is worried about his job status. Oh, ok.. Lmao & the sheep don’t know which way to go.

  • Jayo

    Please God No

  • Amare4MvP

Dont you think if Randolph was able to help our team the coaches would have him in the game? He obviously cant impact the game at this moment given the players around him like your suggesting. And the few times he has entered the game ive been at most of the games this year including the preseason games Randolph looks lost and he doesnt know what to do with the ball or where to be on the court. He is the opposite of Landry who is always in the right spot at the right time. Until randolph shows the coaches what he can do he will sit on the bench. I’m not saying Randolph sucks hes 21 i’m just saying why do we need to loose games just to see him.. when hes ready and he shows the coaches in practice just like TD and shawn williams did he will play.

  • blackwood

Denver is blocking because they refuse to be bullied by Melo. But to the point you are trying to make I ask again is it that Walsh does not know what he is doing or is it that he does not know how to put together a big trade?

As I said I am not a fan of Walsh but I cant believe that he has not tried all he could to make Melo a Knick without destroying the team.

  • Amare4MvP

Im sure you were happy when we were 3-8 and ranolph was part of the rotation and mosgov was the starting center… pathetic. Stop criticizing you are a victim like all of us of listening to the hype that the media created of anthony randolph. Hes not as good as they hyped him to be. I hope one day he is but until then there is a spot for him on the bench.

  • Amare4MvP

Patience is a big part of this and DW is a very good gm he built teams in the past and he knows what he is doing. The nets offer is stopping the knicks from advancing in talks because they are offering far more then we could offer. If carmelo were to reject a trade to NJ then they would come back to NY. This is a waiting game things dont happen over night.

  • clydetheglyde

Dont think Minny would do it, but its great for the Knicks.

  • PickNY

All depends if he really wanted to be in NY like he claim to have wanted to be! But, good point!

  • Jayo

And Amare was averaging 10 turnovers per game & players weren’t hitting threes ..& Felton was getting use to the system.

Wow.. Come back from this one

  • thebossandbenji76

actually, the wolves might be willing to give the Knicks a pick if it meant getting out of that division as well as the conference, deal creates a touch of cap space if we do it also.

  • TobyKnight

No way does MN give up THEIR pick for AR.
They will trade one of the other picks they have. They are going to have a good lottery pick (as usual).

  • Amare4MvP

That all has to do with them being in the rotation. When amare runs into mosgov and turns the ball over thats mosgovs fault because he doesnt isolate when amare has the ball. I remember that happening quite a few times.

  • Dave the Rave

    +1

The thought of developing players who’ve had many opportunities to show what they have and have been complete duds is coming from blindness. D’A is tired of losing, is paid to win, and is winning with the best players. I can’t blame him for not playing players who don’t have it. He knows his talent.

  • lobster

We should have gone for Ridnour as a FA. He is 3m a season. He fits perfectly with our system. How could they not trade him for Randolph?

Either way, we need Mcgee or some other defensive presence way more than Ridnour.

  • Jayo

Listen all I’m saying is play the kid or trade him..(I don’t care if he never see’s the floor for us again)

The guy who didn’t play Hill, Nate, or Darko is gonna turn AR into a contributor ? Me thinks not…. If a 1st & a player(of significance) is available you fake it asap.. Peace

  • Dave the Rave

“Via CBSsports.com. Sources say the Wolves also are targeting Anthony Randolph,”

I’ll bet dollars to donuts this is more fabricated b.s. “Targeting.”? Yeah, right.

  • TobyKnight

I don’t disagree Amare4MvP, but if Melo says he won’t sign with anyone but the Knicks, then he can decreases Denver’s leverage.
The deals being proposed here are not great for Denver, but they are a helluva lot better than getting LeBroned. You don’t think Denver accepts Gallo + expirings + a first rounder for Melo if nobody is willing to rent Melo? It’s really up to Melo. If he only has eyes for NYK, then he forces Denver’s hand.
Denver would be foolish to let him walk away for nothing when they could have Gallo plus a first round pick.

  • CircleLimit4

    +1000

His stock couldn’t get any lower. D’antoni has sunk the asset.

Even if he continued shooting poorly, in the limited minutes he played AR was still rebounding and blocking shots.

  • chando247

    Kind of a long article

    http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=18320#ixzz19WI02H8u

If Minnesota is dangling Flynn than why are we even considering Ridnour or Telfair. I know Flynn struggled his rookie year but keep in mind thats in a very difficult triangle offense. I think Jonny boy could thrive in this Knicks offense. Ran

  • Amare4MvP

I dont buy all that because Carmelo wants NY doesnt mean he wont go anywhere else. If the lakers or magic come knocking on his door or chicago hes gone. The facts are that just because he wants to be here doesnt mean he wouldnt rather be in some other town with 40 million more. Carmelo wants to come and he is doing his best now its our turn. When a player like that wants to come to NY you get it done. Some people just think carmelo should risk millions to come to NY because he “needs” ny more then we need him? wrong we need him so why risk loosing him sacrifices need to be made on both sides and for people to say wait for free agency and take the gamble is being greedy.

  • ds2488

no way. Sergio was awful last year for us. You need true pass first point guards or at least guys that are skilled enough to score on their own in this system. Sergio was neither. He looked for his own shot every time down, and rarely made simple passes while only looking for highlight reel lobs that were always turnovers.

  • HaS

A team can’t send them down the D-League without the players consent after his 2nd year.

At this point, I’m sure Randolph would probably be willing to play at the local “Y” just to get some burn.

  • HaS

@ ds2488 if we don’t have time to let a 21 year old with 2 years in the NBA we’re going to have patience with a green 19 year old backup point guard (a much more difficult position to learn in this league) from Europe?

I’d rather get a guy with some experience to backup Felton, if we bring in a young 3rd stringer/potential PG of the future that would be fine. Rubio could suffice in that role.

  • chito31

Can some of you relax. It’s not that serious. Treat AR like a draft pick (he does have little NBA exp.). He’s getting his chance during practice and team scrimmages. When he’s ready, then he’ll play. But that may not even be this year, which is fine by me. Kid is 21. It doesn’t mean we’ve given up on him. I just hope he’s actually improving and not regressing, but we really don’t know.

  • chito31

Is there really much if a difference between Flynn and Douglas? I don’t think so… So what’s the point? I thought we went a PG.

  • JeffM729

When Mozgov and Randolph were on the floor, teams didn’t need to guard them. It became 4 on 5. The lane was clogged and we couldn’t pick and roll.

You neglect to consider that moving to Amare to center changed the offense. It created more space in the lane as Chandler needed to be guarded. That additional space got the Knicks going. It’s not blaming Randolph, it just that the system works better without him.

Maybe I’m not getting Randolph as he has looked awful every time I saw him play.

  • amareisamanchild

if we have to keep AR in order to have a shot at getting melo you keep him……end of story!

  • JeffM729

I’ll bet AR’s agent is trying to get him out of New York ASAP.

  • TobyKnight

What would it take to get Flynn from Minnie?

    How about this trade?
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24x9xs4

    Knicks get
    JR Smith
    Melo
    Telfair
    Koufos

    Minnie get
    AR
    TD
    Bill Walker

    Denver gets
    Gallo
    Fields
    Curry
    Azibuke
First rd pick from Denver (Memphis’s pick)
    3 mil from Knicks

Fields, Gallo, TD, and AR is a lot to give up, but we get back Smith for our SG, a backup PG and C.

    Felton
    Smith
    Melo
    Stat
    Turiaf

    Bench
    Chandler
    Telfair
    Williams
    Koufos
    Mozgov

  • TobyKnight

Sorry if this is confusing. This trade doesn’t include Flynn. i think MN can get more for him than we can give if we also want to get Melo.

  • Jayo

Sooo now Amare playing the 5 is the reason for all the good spacing.. So we don’t need a Center anymore, because that will screw up the spacing.. That’s why he was averaging 10 turnovers a game, not because he was forcing the issue.. Ok, got it, … I’m starting to hate this blog..

  • chito31

Denver does not want Gallo, especially if he’s the centerpiece.

  • yuhdunknow2g

I’ve said this a million times before n I’ll say it again, all we need is for AR to be like Camby from ’99. Doesn’t need to shoot jumpers. Just get boards n blocks and slash to the basket for the easy assist n bucket. Nothing spectacular but extremely useful.

I keep seeing them give AR the ball and expect him to create his own shot or he’s running up court with the ball and he ends up making mistakes because those things aren’t part of his game (which has very little identity right now because no one gives the kid a decent shot)

If Dolan gave the same amount of time to Dantoni to produce as Dantoni is giving AR, dantoni would of been fired in his first season

  • CircleLimit4

    It couldn’t possibly be both?

  • Amare4MvP

wrong. Given our players Amare has to play the 5. Because mosgov sucks! IF we have a real center then that wont be a problem.

  • Amare4MvP

Why do you vouch for these looser i dont understand why your complaining. We are a better team when these players dont play. why do you have such loyalty for these losers.

  • chito31

Well yes… Chandler plays the stretch 4. PG at top key. Gallo n Chandler on elbows. Fields baseline. Knicks are 16-5 since change. We may add size, but not on starting 5.

  • HaS

Kahn has found use for our leftovers once, it wouldn’t surprise me if he were interested in a young talented 6’10″ PF who can be had for cheap seeing as his value has been shot to sh!t. It could turn out to be a shrewd move by him if he’s successful.

  • chito31

In Phx, Dantoni had STAT at 5 and Marion at 4. Then they won 63 games.

  • yuhdunknow2g

I don’t understand why nyk hasn’t signed barron yet to get rebounds for us. Just waive mason jr and sign barron (only if its cheap) and dat would help us for now

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

These Randolph arguments are making me laugh LOL. When’s the last time a team developed a player by sitting them? He made mistakes early on, so what, he deserves to be banished from playing time? Not even 10 min? 5 min? 1 min?

It also makes me laugh how people will blame our 3-8 start on AR and Mosgov, while ignoring Amare scoring less and rebounding less, and Felton averaging 15 points 7 assists rather than his 19pts 11 assists he has been averaging of late. Please.

Please give AR some time before he becomes our version of Beasley and suddenly has an epiphany and becomes a star.

    11 points 7 rebounds 1.3 per in 22 min last year. (18 points 11 rebounds 2.5 blocks per 36 min ) Talent doesn’t disappear.

  • PickNY

I would agree to keep him, BUT BUT BUT it’s not like we have much to offer teams in a trade scenario! It’s tough and if any team dangles a center, backup quality pt guard, then you ought to know the rest of the story!

One of the commentators made a great point stating that every team has needs, so sometimes we do have to be patient with a lot of hope!

We New Yorkers got to have it right now when it’s not our money they spending. I have to admit that I sometimes go overboard on NY teams! Got’s to Chill!

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

No rings and 2 knee surgeries.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

AR for a first rounder. Other than that I wouldn’t want anything they would offer.

If they get what they want…

    Flynn
    Mayo
    Johnson
    Randolph
    Love

Would be a pretty good young core.

  • ds2488

lol. Kahn and “shrewd move” don’t really go together.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

LOL the Rockets want a prospect, a pick, and an expiring for Yao. LOL good thing Isiah isn’t a GM anymore.

  • PickNY

YO Brookdon, I agree that young players going to make mistakes, which we all SHOULD know this, BUT I’m starting to believe coach is not to bright on when to play the youngest to allow them to grow:(

We all getting piss when we think he ought to put AR or Randolph in to do this or that! I’ll be losing it sometimes where the wife be making sarcastic comments like, “Do you think they can hear you or I don’t see any of those dollars comin here, etc)! But it feels good to let it out! Thank God I’m not courtside. I would be fair, but you guys be hearing me each home game giving coach & the players an ear full until they get it right! I believe coaches today too damn Soft worrying about Players feelings.

Call me crazy but having Darko back wouldn’t be a terrible pairing with Stat.

Before you call for my head, I’m not saying I’d trade for him knowing that his contract isn’t worth the risk but had he played here the way he’s playing in Minny, I don’t think we’d be as thin as we are today up front.

  • HaS

I agree, but Darko could have been a serviceable center for us and at least a situational starter, he traded for him using a guy we never even bothered ordering a uniform for.

  • Amareisreal
  • PickNY

These teams be trippin asking for the world for their players. If they was that valuable why you trying to download them! I realize some teams don’t have a choice when contracts bout to expire!

  • JeffM729

Yao and Eddy Curry could be twin towers, sitting at each end of the bench.

  • Jayo

    @ Anare4MvP

Are you even reading my posts ? I don’t give a F about Randolph. I wanted to trade him in a Melo deal 2 months ago.. If he’s not gonna play trade him, is so hard to comprehend ?

    @ the rest of you

Amare is not a 5… Chandler is not a 4 … That b.s. does not fly in the playoffs.. But as usual once we lose, then the “if we only had a C” posts will pop up again.

  • Amareisreal
  • TobyKnight

That’s fair. Just swap in Chandler then or trade Gallo for a player that Denver does want.

Question: Chandler is an RFA at the end of the season. Does that make him less attractive to Denver?

  • TobyKnight

    Yeah, good luck with that.

  • JeffM729

I don’t disagree with you. However, when in Rome do as the Romans. D’Antoni is our coach and that’s the style he plays. Last year, he had a 6’8″ David Lee in the center position.

Just like last year, Darko and Hill had a cameo appearance and then vanished at the trade deadline for Brian Carinal and Tracey McGrady.

I’m sure Randolph will be gone soon and maybe they can get someone to take Mosgov’s contract. That will be a bit more difficult.

  • Dave the Rave

    Darko was a complete failure…please…

  • ThermoSTAT

Sometimes a young player needs time to fill out a little. Tyson Chandler came in as a stick and took a few years to develop. Give AR some time, not everybody is NBA ready as fast as others. As AR fills out, I think his tools will make him a good player. If you are going to trade him, 1st option is for Melo. If this Minny thing has any legs, AR needs to bring back Flynn and and one of Minny’s picks so we have the 1st rounder Denver wants.

  • Dave the Rave

Dallas and SA had something to do with that. Stat also has a detached retina.

  • boomshanka

not a chance in hell they would do it. love is 22yo averaging over 20 and 15! why don’t we ask them to throw in beasley while we’re at it.

  • Dave the Rave

    bingo!

  • Dave the Rave

why in the world would Minny trade Love to NY or anyone?

  • BiggieSmalls

    excuse making at it’s finest

  • JeffM729

It’s pretty easy to see for some. Those that can’t see it won’t be swayed by the article.

  • Amare4MvP

What i am trying to say is you dont just trade a guy like that unless its a good deal. Using him in a Carmelo deal qualifies as a good trade. Using him for tellfair doesn’t qualify.

  • boomshanka

did you watch yesterday’s game? cause ilgauskas looked like wilt chamberlain against us.

  • Amare4MvP

    +1
Just because he isnt helping us now doesnt mean hes worthless hes 21. Thats why you dont just throw him away for garbage like telfair. He can still be a very good player in the future no ones saying no.

  • JeffM729

    Just a few points to make;

    1) Minnesota wants to trade Flynn and keep Ridnour to pair with Rubio next year. So take him off your wish list.

    2) Minnesota’s picks are entangled for this season. They traded their own 2011 1st round pick, which is top 10 protected, to the Clips.

They have the Memphis 1st round pick this year, but that is top 14 protected.

    3) Kevin Love isn’t going anywhere.

    4) With Beasley and Love entrenched at the forward spots, Randoph wouldn’t get major minutes in Minnesota either.

  • Jayo

    @Amare4MvP

When I said trade him for a pick & a player.. I meant a DRAFT pick (1st) and a BASKETBALL player.. I feel like I’ve stated this 5 times on this one post . Flynn/Ridinour/Or Telfair + a 1st for AR+filler seems like a nobrainer to me. Or trade with Indy or whoever, idc. I’m tired of repeating myself

  • NYK_4_Lyfe

    +100 basically

if the coach plays AR and Randolph even looks marginal and we have a sub .500 record, then the fans will cry “fire D’Antoni!!”

now that he’s NOT playing AR and we have a 18-13 record through 31 games, it’s STILL “this coach sucks because he’s not playing AR!!” LOL..

i’m done tryin to figure out the pulse of Knick fans and this board, because frankly i don’t think a pulse exists

  • Archangel

Is there a reason why No one’s mentioned Jamal Crawford being a more Viable option to trade for? I mean, imo, He is a good combo guard. Not much of a perimeter defender, but he is a good shooter and passes the ball well enough (*note He was a big reason why Curry averaged 20+ points oh so long ago) He is excellent in the Pick and Roll. The Hawks do need to put Al Horford at PF, and a Center that can score. Long story short, I know its a bad trade but we should trade for Crawford and Williams for Curry, Randolph and Mason or Billy Walker. Marvin Williams can start over Gallo or Chandler so we can have some well needed energy off the bench with Crawford and Turiaf. This satisfies the mike _an’Toni logic of an 8-Man Rotation.

  • Amare4MvP

@ jayo: You started this convorsation by saying that randolph should be getting more minutes then turiaf or anyone on the bench. I explained to you why your logic is off. Then you argued that we should trade Randolph and a player for a first round pick and a player. I agreed with you not everything has to be an argument i said i would only want the first round pick if it could be used for Carmelo. Im not ready to ship him i havnt seen enough to give up on him but im willing to get rid of him and anyone else to get Carmelo. I am repeating my self and you have to read more carefully. Thanks

  • Amare4MvP

We can just sign him in the off season why give up something for him?

  • NYK_4_Lyfe

D’Antoni started Mozgov at the start of the season.. he’s not 6’8 and he is the size of a center.. he clearly wasn’t ready for starter minutes, so he ditched that plan and went to an alternate plan of action (one that’s been successful)

i don’t think D’Antoni would be opposed to playing a legit C.. he’s just never had one that was worth a damm.. i wouldn’t just give up on Moz yet either.. it’s his first year playing against NBA level athletes and under the NBA rules..

we’re gonna need as many quality big bodies possible if we have any shot at competing for a title in the years to come..

  • HaS

    What was Brian Cardinal?

  • CircleLimit4

The criticisms on AR’s game are fair and accurate imo, but this is where minds differ.

“Unfortunately more playing time does not fix Randolph’s issues but rather more time studying film and learning the system. One thing people forget when you bring in a new player they have different learning curves. Some guys can come in and pick up what you are doing in a couple of practices, while other guys may need a year of work or more. Until Randolph develops a better understanding of the offense and defensive sets he will continue to struggle if placed on the floor.”

That’s the biggest crock of crap I’ve seen in a while. You’re telling me AR is going to learn this but just studying tape and doing walkthroughs in practice? Nothing beats real game experience. Nothing.

This kid is coming to a whole new team and has barely played in a year. D’antoni is benching him because he’s expecting him to be a jump shooter instead of encouraging AR to do what he does best which is attacking the basket.

Players must adapt to the system AND coaches must adapt their system to the players. It’s a give and take.

Simply said, the only way D’antoni knows how to adapt is by shortening his rotation.

Don’t give me this crap about how he just needs to study film and that’s all he can do. Pfft. Knicks desperately need rebounds and size down low, AR satisfies that and he’s sitting on the bench while his value tanks.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Wow the article explains what’s wrong with each of them. And it’s evident; we watches them play. But that still doesnt explain to me why they don’t get off the bench ONCE at all per game.
I know MD is coaching for the now. But come playoff time when teams pull out their secret weapons off the bench, we will be telling Amare to keep running on fumes because we never developed his backup.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

They wouldn’t… Was that directed at me lol?

  • Jayo

Lol, never said Randolph should get more minutes than anyone..

But let’s get past that. I use to think exactly how you did, if were not gonna use the pick for the Melo trade we should just keep AR. But what are the chances that D’Antoni develops him? I say none. That’s why I’m pushing so hard for a trade (if one is there).

I don’t understand the Telfair hate. I’m not a stats guy, but according to the stats Ramon Sessions is trash, but the whole blog wants him, he’s 10-60 from 3 point land in his career. On top of that Telfair is cheaper & averages the same amount of assists.

If Minny said Telfair + 1 for AR & Mason I’d do it. Regardless of Melo. We could always use that pick in a future trade or just use it ourselves.

  • Amare4MvP

I think we can get more for him and im not ready to sell him that low. neither should you.. Telfair is real garbage he doesnt add a win for this team in my opinion hes irrelevant.

  • Archangel

resign him for a smaller contract. I feel this is safer than the Melo trade talk. For some crazy reason the Nuggets front office think holding out for all the Big name “little pieces” for Melo in a trade is a wise thing. Because February 24th is closer than we think. The Knicks have a a big chance because of it. Crazy thing about it all is I would Actually give up fields, Gallo, Curry and a first round draft pick for Melo and Afflalo. Simply because we will have Buike back soon enough to start at the 2 position. I (heart) Fields but I love Melo more. I honestly believe The Knicks are waiting for a full recovery from Kelenna before the trade goes down. Because they feel that Putting Melo at the 2 and Chandler at the 3 with Turiaf at Center would take away from there play…(The “Stretch 4 Offense”) that’s gonna Make us more of a contender.

  • Amare4MvP

The knicks are not waiting if the nuggets agree today they do it in a heart beat. Its just they are not interested in dealing with us as of now. and Crawford been there done that hes explosive scorer but it ends there. He doesnt make us elite he further makes us the Atlanta Hawks. Maybe will be able to take boston to 7 but thats the furthest!

Oh yeah. But we Remember that Killer Crossover and jumper/leaner/fade away. If Fields were more of an Offensive threat Gallo and Chandler would have more space in the “Stretch 4″ offense to operate. Also Douglas is under sized and comes in to play shooting guard…I HATE this concept because the team seems to lose rhythm. TD gets abused too much and his new found mentality of “I gotta score because I am at shooting guard” takes away from his Point Guard style that we enjoyed seeing down the stretch of last season.

Melo doesn’t have the speed to match up defensively with players like Wade. IMO he is a perfect three that can play a few minutes as a 4 (3-4 min)

  • gianthinker

I’ve been against Telfair the entire time but if we could get him WITH a 1st RD pick I’d take him. No way I’d ever give them AR for Telfair straight up but with a pick I’d do it. When it comes to the Wolves I’d rather have Luke Ridnour, Wesley Johnson or Jonny Flynn instead of Telfair but if I could get a 1st RD pick along with Telfair I’d take it.

  • JeffM729

You’re not going to get a high lottery pick for a guy buried on the bench. Randolph may get a late first round pick, but to think a bottom feeder like Minnesota will deal their pick is a nice fantasy for Knick fans.

Remember we usually the team trading picks for bad talent, like Marbury, Curry, McDyess, and McGrady.

  • gianthinker
  • gianthinker

I was one of the few who felt we should have brought Al back anyway so I have to say I’d take him with Melo in a second. To me he could be a guy down in the post and/or score off the bench.

  • dino2008

i might be mistaken, but I believe the clippers own the wolves first rounder in 2011……

    don’t trade randolph….. PLAY HIM.

mike needs to tell him, listen i dont want you to go out there and score…. just play good defense, rebound, and block shots…. we do NOT need him to score we have enough scorers.

  • dino2008

From what I have read, the nuggets want whatever team gets carmelo to take back al “buckets” contract……

  • JeffM729

The Nets are my choice. They have 5 first round draft picks over the next two years, some nice young players, and play in the east. Denver without Melo is basically Cleveland without LeBron.

  • Archangel

What do you guys think about Luis Scola on this team. Word on RealGM is that the Rockets are shopping Kevin Martin and Scola as well as Yao. And we have some of what they want on (dont scold me for this one) a first round draft pick and an expiring contract in Curry…*drool*

  • JeffM729

Yeah, they have it but it’s protected. Wolves have the Memphis pick via Utah and the Al Jefferson tread, which is also protected.

  • dino2008

right thanks, just saw that. it is top 10 protected, so it is very likely it will be protected, although they are playing much better of late.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Too bad we don’t have any firsts….

  • ds2488

Yeah, I’m going with neither lol. Both don’t really have bright futures imo. Draft picks don’t mean anything towards a teams success when they’re not put around winning players. Nets don’t have any. If they can do some damage in free agency then who knows, but it seems like a tough sell right now when it’s basically trying to get players to come to Brook Lopez as their second guy.

  • dino2008

yeah but carmelo anthony doesn’t want to be on a rebuilding team. he is 26 years old… in his prime. the nets have picks, yes but those picks will turn into players who will need time to develop. of course they could use those picks as assets to land veterans…. we shall see.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Nuggets haven’t been terrible without him this year… They just beat Minny. BTW Melo comes back tomorrow.

  • dino2008

i would not want either. kevin martin is an injury waiting to happen and his defense is atrocious and scola, although a great player imo is not what we need imo.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Which is why we would bring in a third team.

  • ds2488

Shrewd? He essentially screwed the rest of the league over by giving the Heat the room they desperately needed to sign 3 guys. If he doesn’t do that, everything changes.

And how’s Beasley and their league-worst record working out for them lol?

  • dino2008

exactly…. im saying it would be interesting to see how it ends up though, considering al was not happy with mike when he left…. he made those comments about gallo being favored in locker room.

  • dino2008

and btw brook lopez has clearly regressed. he is a terrible rebounder…. def not a “franchise” center.

  • ds2488

I’d actually love a Scola/Amare frontcourt for us- It’s the closest Dantoni would go to a traditional lineup and Scola would solve 2 of our biggest problems: Rebounding and guarding other teams bigs. Those are Amares 2 biggest weaknesses and those are 2 things that Wilson is not really able to do at the 4.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Remember those who said that Amare wouldn’t even make us better than the nets or Lopez is a “top 3″ center. Where are they now?

  • ds2488

yeah, that’s pretty much what I was trying to say. Selling him to star players as a second in command can’t be all that enticing.

He does have a lot of talent though, If he ever toughens up he’ll be a force in this league. It doesn’t seem likely now though, at some point the losing becomes infectious.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

I wonder what the holdup with resigning Barron is. Cutting Mason and resigning Barron seems like a no brainer to me.

  • JeffM729

My assumption was that the Nets wouldn’t have Melo. They could turn the 5 picks and Murphy’s expiring into a few solid rotation players. They will still have high lottery picks the next few years.

Add that to Lopez, Favors, and Harris and that’s more than Denver will be looking at. Billlups, Smith, Melo, Martin, and Buckets are all goners in the next two years.

  • ds2488

I think Denver’s better than Cleveland without their stars, but by next year you might be right. Chauncey seems to be going downhill, and Denver doesn’t really have any young talent.

  • ds2488

+1. And I haven’t been able to understand the backup point situation either- It’s gotten to the point where every postgame presser has some guy taking not very subtle shots at Toney for not passing the ball enough.

  • JeffM729

I still like Lopez. Lots of guys here still want Gallo over him. If you watch the Nets, Lopez gets lots of attention every time he gets the ball. They need some help to get him eoom. I’m also not real impressed with Avery Johnson’s offensive schemes so far.

Lopez is still only 22. Give him a few more years before you write him off. The Nets use their PF’s to rebound. Lopez was getting 9 boards before Avery came in.

  • adornoj1

Still linking this dunk to all of my friends here in Miami LOL

    http://fanaticvice.com/amare-stoudemire-invites-lebron-james-into-his-poster/

  • dino2008

the funny part is the nets thought they already got these few solid rotation players they needed to make them a playoff team via free agency (outlaw and petro – what jokes…. outlaw’s contract is horrendous…. farmar and morrow ehhh).

the nets are a complete mess, picks or no picks. avery johnson is as clueless on the offensive end as mike is on the defensive end. the nets look absolutely lost offensively.

  • ds2488

Yeah, I’m not writing him off at all. The guy has a ton of talent. But he’s way too soft to be a winning type of player at this point.

I’d say him and Gallo are around equal, just because Gallo has shown he can play a role on a winning team while Lopez has not. But Lopez has done a lot more statistically speaking.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

No shots Jeff but AR is only 21 and you said you don’t mind MD burying him on the bench. Why should we give Lopez “a few more years”, especially when Nets fans were touting him as a top 3 center.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Don’t get me wrong however, I still think he could be pretty good. I still take Gordon the Gallo then Lopez.

  • JeffM729

Just want to say that Donnie Walsh needs to get some bodies for the bench. We started the season using a deep bench and went 3-8. Amare and Ray were playing reasonable minutes, but we were losing.

Now we have a short rotation and have went 15-5, with Amare and Ray playing 40+ minutes in that stretch. While many call for a justifiable reduction of their minutes, it’s clear what that will result in, more losses.

Donnie seems to be getting a pass with guys like Rautins, Curry, Azubuike, and Mason taking up space on the bench. D’Antoni is taking most of the heat (yeah, I said heat), but his choices aren’t good.

  • traps9

With the way Will is playing, he’ll be in any Denver trade. Al can take over at the 4. He’s a prototypical D’Antoni 4: can hit the three and doesn’t play a lick of defense ;) I do like the guy, though. NY guy, good guy

  • chito31

I think it’s because they’d rather use his $1.4M contract as part of a trade if salaries are needed to match. So expect him around till trade deadline (along with Curry and Azubuke). It’s kind of sad, he was a decent player, could have contributed.

  • traps9

I could see us acquiring Diaw along with Melo and Harrington heading to Charlotte. Maybe a Charlotte pick can go to Denver

rautins and mason are terrible… i would cut them both bring in earl barron…. id see what rafer alston has left to offer (if anything)

  • traps9

Donnie’s not getting a pass here with me. He’s taking another gamble on needing to remain stagnant to get Melo. We’ll see if it works by February.

  • chito31

I’d like Scola…. a bit of a dirtbag, but sometimes you need that. His contract isn’t that great though. Plus, he’s an interior player so I’d see him coming off the bench. Keeping Wil as a PF has worked and it looks like D’Antoni would rather start like that…. can’t argue with 16-5.

  • JeffM729

    @Brookdon

At age 21, Lopez scored 19 a game with about 9 rebounds. He is the focus of the Net’s offense and is scoring over 19 ppg this year. He plays a in demand position and is a legit 7 footer.

You can compare him to Randolph, I won’t. That’s wrong is so many ways!!!! LOL!!!

  • chito31

Kevin Martin…. injury prone… quircky shot…. pass. Not what we need.

  • JeffM729

What do I want Donnie to do with Curry?

  • Melo2NYplz

lol @ the idiot above me falling for my sarcasm

  • chito31

Nah…. what are you really adding? Trading away two decent forwards for one great forward and one eh forward. And we’d still have an issue with too many minutes, not enough good players. And we’d be capped out.

Plus, with Wil becoming an RFA, I don’t think Denver would be interested. Whether he leaves this year or next, they’d be left with only Gallo and draft picks for Melo.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

    LOL

  • dino2008

he needs his contract in a possible melo deal, you can’t just cut him.

  • chito31

Al was a good guy, but he def doesn’t fit this system. Scorer mentality but not really good enough. And D’antoni really wasn’t fond of him.

Plus, Wil is not tradeable (due to his free agency status). Denver doesn’t want him only to see him walk away.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

I agree with him remaining stagnant, you can’t pass up a player of Melo’s caliber. But doing something simple like cutting Mason for Barron wouldnt hurt a Melo trade and makes us better. I just dont get it.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

He would be restricted so they still essentially determine his future.

  • dino2008

donnie has always been stubborn, does not like to cut anyone…. that’s just who he is.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

At age 20 AR averages 11 points 7 rebounds. 8 points less and only 2 rebounds left in 12 less minutes!

18 pts 11 rebounds 2.5 blocks per 36 min last year.

  • chito31

    I don’t think it really matters… especially with this coach. A 3 is playing the 2. A 4 is playing a 5. Another 3 is playing a 4. And Gallo…. hmmm, what is Gallo… a 2 in a 4′s body?

Ok… I was drunk, now confused.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

He is an RFA they can give him a qualifying offer or just match. Why say no to a 23 year old who averages 17 points 6 rebounds playing out of position

  • chito31

Wow… a guy still thinking that Azubuke is coming back. U must be the last one.

If he’s not trade filler, he’s getting released 2/25. But maybe he comes back in the off-season…. minimum contract. He was a good player.

  • chito31

Rautins, THEY say, has been impressive in practice…. THEY say…..

  • chito31

yes… then they’d offer a qualifing offer. Wil would take it, play one year in Denver and become unrestricted and bounce, leaving Denver with nothing.

That’s why they want a Favors…. 4 years under there control…. big difference.

  • chito31

Like I said below…. Wil would take the qualifying offer so he can be unrestricted a year after. No way he would sign long term.

Look at it from Denver point of view. They lose there cornerstone. Have to rebuild and get a good young player like Chandler. But how can they plan longterm if what they get back for Melo will be gone in a year anyway. If I was Denver, I wouldn’t do it…

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

I agree, Favors/Gallinari. But They would have two years to convince Chandler to stay.

  • JeffM729

Last year Brook Lopez scored 1542 points and Anthony Randolph scored 384. This year Lopez has 597 points and Randolph has 26.

    Awaiting your next move……..

  • tonty11223

Here is a trade where i feel it can work out for all. Minnesota gives 1st rd pick to Memphis & Denver gets knicks 1st rd
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2caotfj

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

LOL I concur Randolph doesn’t play. He showed flashes in GS. I still say Randolph should play. He has never had consistent minutes in his career. You have to admit 11 points 7 rebound in 22 minutes is great.

  • Boots

Interesting, but the Knicks won’t have a first round pick they can trade until 2014 if I recall correctly.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Replace Gallinari with Chandler then Send Memphis a wing (Webster from Minny) and it’s a perfect trade IMO

  • tonty11223

no they have their 2011 to switch with houston in the mcgrady deal. they dont have a 2012 (I’d rather not have balkman but i think he has developed in Denver a bit)

  • tonty11223

i agree but eh reason I put chandler is if walsh wants to pay him this upcoming offseason hes a restricted free agent

  • gianthinker
  • gianthinker

This is probably the best D’Antoni video ever.

  • JeffM729

I do hope Randolph is able to get it together and soon.

  • JeffM729

You can’t trade picks in two consecutive years, so we have to keep the 2011 and 2013 picks.

  • Boots

As I thought. The first pick able to be traded is 2014.

  • tonty11223

not unless they aquire a low 1st rd like from the lakers or boston for this year for a future pick, thus they have a l1st rd this year but trade the higher one to Denver

  • Dylan

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=22u6tnj

If Denver demands that we take Chucketts and Smith, would you guys make this trade? I can’t stand Harrington’s game, but at least he could provide us with some scoring off the bench. It would leave us with a lineup of:

    PG- Felton/Douglas
    SG- Fields/Smith
    SF- Melo/Harrington
    PF- Amar’e/Williams
    C- Turiaf/Barron

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)
  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

This deal will involve 3 to 4 teams. The Nuggets don’t want to become the Denver Knicks. Using other teams assets along with ours is the way to go.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jfjaNbUfqU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Melo can run the PNR… Imagine that as Amare rather than Nene.

  • Old Knick

    +1
    I hate south hell!!!!!!!!

  • Old Knick

I dont like the celts either but I respect them!

  • bronxknickfan

People here talk like the reason the Knicks were losing was because AR was playing. He barely played when the team was losing. Then when talking efficiency wise, he’s shooting 25% because of two bad games shooting wise. But you know what he did in those two games? Average 8 rebounds in 19 minutes worth of time. He may be very raw, but he’s truly the best rebounder on the team and we need someone to rebound, so why not give him 15-20 minutes to get us some boards?

  • Old Knick

    Hahahhaha!

  • traps9

    Exactly Brookdon

  • traps9

Capped out? Vet minimums and the MLE are a beautiful thing. I think the fire power Charlotte would acquire in this case gets you an extra pick to work to Denver

  • chito31

Convince Chandler to stay? Like they’re doing with Melo now…. how’s that working out? I guess you didn’t hear what Chandler said about Denver a few weeks ago. And if you’re Denver… would you really take that chance.

Trust this… Denver does not what any Knicks. The only ones they would even consider is Gallo or Douglas, but only if they are getting another big name from a third team. They want good players under contract for 3+ years or draft picks cause they know they ain’t getting any free agents.

  • chito31

But they will only have him for one year once they give him a qualifying offer. It’s up to Chandler to decide if he would stay longterm… and trust me, he won’t stay. Denver knows this, and they won’t take that chance.

  • Amareisreal

    @BIG

i dunno my dude, i think its spot on considering how AR looks on the court
and what we saw from timofey before the nba to now.

  • Amareisreal

fields took a veiled shot during the heat loss.
“guys take it upon themselves to win the game”
    or something like that

  • Amareisreal

could someone explain to me why shaq didnt work out with PHNX? because i think dantoni was still coaching at that time right?

because IF he was, then he really DOESNT know what to do with centers. cuz i dont know how the hell shaq doesnt make your team better. and i think at that point he was still a decent player, and not too injury prone as when he was with the cavs.

but somebody school me on my original question of shaq and phnx please

  • Amareisreal
  • chito31

I just think it has to do more with spacing. If you have a big center down low your also bringing another defender down low, so when STAT and Nash did there thing, the defense is able to collapse quicker.

A center like Barron can work because he can pull the defender out and they have to respect his jump shot. But that’s why he likes Amare at center and Will at PF because defenders have to respect the perimeter player. It also opens up the paint for when either Will or Gallo want to drive.

  • chito31

nah… he was also talking about himself. He jacked up a few bad three point shots.

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

Wow Mosgov outballed Gallo IMO. Gallos faceup is terrible. He first create space at all and always goes for the jumper. Even Mosgov attempted driving. Why can Mosgov do this IN GAME?

  • Brookdon (Official Amare for MVP Campaign)

I agree. Why are we locking up the teams BEST rebounder and shotblocker?

  • Old Knick

Now that is some funny ish!

  • HaS

“…just play good defense, rebound, and block shots….”

That just doesn’t sound like Mike, there’s no mention of “spacing”.

  • HaS

“…neither of the teams are winning lol”

Denver has the same record as us and have been dealing with a multitude of injuries (Billups, K-Mart, Birdman, Nene at different points of the season).

I’m amazed at the selfishness of Carmelo to be able to just go through the motions and insist on leaving a fairly good team that if healthy could still be a contender in the West.

Denver at full strength (healthy) > Knicks with Carmelo.

Fortunately for us, his selfishness may work in our favor.

  • HaS

Too bad he was wrong. We could have used that point.

  • Amareisreal

ahh okay. so dan dummi needs a center with a jump shot. thats where moz fits right in. like him or not, he has a decent shooting hand.

    interesting.
even more interesting is that earl barron is not on the team by now. i think that the other team may want something in return that donnie isnt too happy with.

  • Amareisreal

two things you need to also notice

    1. right at the end of the last shot and he misses, Moz hits his head multiple times as if he is saying calling himself dumb for missing. this has been said by dan toni twice in interviews that “he will come along, but he needs to just concentrate on his game and not be so hard on himself. he a good kid and just want to get better” so when he is on the court, its got to be REALLY tough for him to keep his emotions in check and every mistake, in HIS mind, will be the worst mistake ever. it makes mmore sense why he looks clueless, because he is trying to be perfect so bad.

    2. bro, do you see the little kid back there shooting the ball?!??!!?!?!
we totally need him on the second unit!!
    hahahha!!!

  • gianthinker

Wait so MD doesn’t want Melo because theoretically there are 4 guys open on each pick and roll? That makes zero sense. If anything Melo would open the floor up more more the PNR.

  • gianthinker

Maz can shoot for a big man. But we need to get him stickem because he doesn’t get nice little easy passes like that in a game and can’t catch the ball. I’m a huge supporter of Moz because I can see the athleticism in him and he has a great NBA body and is still young but he needs to catch the ball.
