I think its pretty obvious that he’s not even close to committing to NJ. He has a look of a guy that is annoyed with this thing already. Nuggets, just give it up already….

  • Anonymous

who do you know in the whole NBA that would want to go to Newark

  • DaveTheRave

+100000. His agent is just jerking the Nyets around.

  • Anonymous

It would make complete sense for Melo’s agent to explore the kind of team the Nets could put together for his dude if a trade is made.

The fact that this is such a public negotiation does not make it more than just a potential outcome.

I hope he chooses NY. If not then let’s go get another BIG, stat.

  • Anonymous

There’s about a 0% probability he’s going to sign with NJ given the team that will be around him after this proposed trade. There’s a better chance he’ll resign with Denver.

  • Anonymous

i hope he takes less then the max to come hereee. like the chumps did

  • http://twitter.com/Kraivanov Kenny

Melo looked angry when asked about the Nets.. again. I think if he denies it it’s over for the Nets and any other team that might want Melo’s services. It really shows that Melo is in control of the situation and that the Knicks are the only suitable team that he’d accept a trade to… that is in the event that he rejects a trade to the Nets.

IF that happens, Denver will no longer have the luxury of not returning the Knicks calls and being ambiguous about what they want. In fact, I believe karma will be returned. Denver was playing a dangerous game by not showing respect to Donnie. It’s bad news if he’s their only option and they showed him this much disrespect.

I hope you right..I would love to have melo here , I know we need to address other problems like a center backup point..But I think if we makes some moves and add melo in the off season this team will inprove vastly..And please hire a coach who could teach and preach D’antoni some Defense..pleasssssssssssse I’m so tired of this franchise losing to the lakers, and heat and every other good defensive team. We really need to improve, because right now even The bucks are playing better..and altanta already has 25 wins if we fall to the 8th seed guess who we will be facing come playoff time if we make it ? Nope it would not look good..G’nite friends

    Amare: Yo what up Melo?
Carmelo: Ain’t sh*t just chilling. I see yall had a tough game tonight
Amare: Yea I see yall had a tough one too. btw, I’m hearing a lot of rumors that a Nets deal is brewing
    Carmelo:Yea, but I ain’t sign nothing yet
Amare: Well let me know because Donnie wants to make other moves and he wants to know where your heart at.
Carmelo: They think I’m freakin stupid to go play with the Nets bro. Tell Donnie keep doing what he doing and chill and I’ll be there soon enough.
Amare: Yea it’s a lot of rumors going around that you want to play with a second superstar and wojo said it was Lopez
    Carmelo: lmao, yea right
Amare: Well I’m bout to hit Broadway i’ll call you a little later
Carmelo: Alright yo, I’ll holla at you later. Oh yea, tell Donnie XXXL in the jersey too.
Amare: Alright I got you. Bye
    Carmelo: Peace

  • Knicksrule

^ I can see a phone call that took place at some point.

  • Anonymous

amare: yo! forgot to ask you, if i send you pictures of amber rose naked, would you send me pics of LALA naked?
carmelo: seems like a fair trade to me bro.
    amare: good looking, pimp.
    carmelo:Go Knicks.

  • Anonymous

unfortunately, the knicks have a coach who believes that the first team to score 100 wins. all night during the interview its ” we werent making our shots”

when asked about their size…he dismissed it.. because “if we are hitting our shots it doesnt make a difference.”

agreed. but gee, what do we do when we keep shooting bricks? because when that happens, seems to me that we will loose and we might as well be playing our bench for extended periods. i mean we may as well get SOMETHING out of the loss.

  • Anonymous

word. that showed dedication to the big picture for them to do that.
but lets be real though :) it wasnt a REAL pay cut. them dudes is still making mega bucks.

  • Anonymous

was telling my wife the same thing. it makes zero sense in my eyes. the nuggets have a great team. consistent playoff appearances. if you want to go all the way, then why in the hell would you sign with a rebuilding franchise?
    especially at his age.
nj sees him as a star but also a trade piece for future players after his three years. thats what i think. they lose a lot of players for him.

  • Anonymous

Good Video Tommy! Melo looks pissed and looks like he’d rather fall on his sword than go to Jersey!
Not a profile of any race..but I’ve known a lot of Russians that are just hard headed and don’t
understand the meaning of NO! Someone get
the Nets owner to the Geico Therapist..

  • Anonymous

I agree with you, but NJ wouldnt be in a rebuilding mode after the trade. NJ would be an old team thats capped out really. Think about it NJ would have Billups and Rip both are long in the tooth then Lopez and Melo and not much else. Is the package that Denver getting really that great? I mean they getting 2 picks and favors who else really counts that they are getting?

  • Anonymous

I would much rather go after R. Lopez he is buried on the bench out in the desert, he has proven that he can play Mike’s system and can be productive beside Amare, lastly he has been in the playoffs and plays against the bigs out west alot (Bynum, Duncan etc). Sarver is known as a penny pincher so AR plus 3 mil should be good enough to get that deal done, not to mention theres 2 players ahead of Lopez on the depth chart ( Frye and Gorat)

  • Anonymous

BTW if anyone is wondering why would PHX make the above trade, which player has more potential? Which player would u rather have play with Nash? The Nash that gets you the ball in the best possible position. Which player has more star potential?

  • Anonymous

Man this is scary, imagine the suicide rate of Nyet fans if Melo diss’ them. OMG!!!! the horror!!!

  • Anonymous

Bottom line is I am cool either way. Like Ama’re I like the team and we just need to tinker here and there. Maybe get Dalembert who is not needed in Sac town. Or see if we can dangle AR and some pieces to pry McGee from the Bullets errrr Wiz.

  • Anonymous

Isn’t Melo supposed to say that and deny anything? He’s been quiet all along.

Why would he tell the media he accepted terms of a deal to NJ now?

  • http://twitter.com/KnicksBrasil Willian Xavier

Good question. “Why would Rose and Wesley push for a trade to the Nets when the Knicks are their client’s preferred destination?”
    Sheridan

  • Anonymous

    And who get’s Beyonce?

  • Anonymous

KAKA! Melo is coming to the KNICKERBOCKERS!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_O7VUJ3WO56S2HE5UQNLRKNEU2E Jc

Ok. I see where this deal makes sense for the Nets and the Nuggets but how in the hell does deal make sense for Detroit. They get a mediocre average player albeit in his last year of a deal in Murphy but they get that Petro who has 3 years left on a deal, isnt that good a player, and that’s it. Why do they make that deal? I can see if they get 2 exp contracts one being a big one to offset salary but not that.

  • Anonymous

Devil Harris (who they can spin for more players and picks)

  • Anonymous

Somebody tweet this to Melo ASAP LOL

  • Anonymous

Robin Lopez is a worse rebounder than his brother.

  • Anonymous

They save $17 million over the next 2 years.

  • Anonymous

Hopefully everything aldrigde says are true. That Melo is reluctant to extend there.

  • Anonymous

    From Berger

“Let me get this straight: Anthony is going to give up all the leverage he has with the Nuggets and agree to go to New Jersey to play with Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton — without a time machine to make it 2004 — this easily?”

He may be right, but what about the news of the agent orchestrating the deal?

  • Anonymous

If Melo declines Jersey, I think Walsh will lowball Denver with an offer of Gallinari, Randolph, and Curry

  • Anonymous

Denver are fools, seriously, Favors stinks, have they seen him play at all, he’s horrific.

  • Anonymous

JR Smith is from Jersey right?

  • Anonymous

    BAHAHAHAHA

  • Anonymous

This deal still doesn’t make any sense, because Melo has a ton of leverage. I don’t know why in the world he would agree to play with a couple over the hill vets and compete for an 8th seed in NJ! Even without Melo, the Knicks are still significantly better then the Nets, and they have the cap space to improve, while the Nets can’t make any more moves until 2012, because they don’t have any cap space or trade assets.

  • Anonymous

Favors has played better of late actually

  • Anonymous

    Thank You!!!!!!!!!

Is it just me or is Wilson Chandler better than anyone Denver would be getting in the proposed deal? Granted, he is more of a wild card in regards to control but I still think Gallo, Chandler, pick is better than Favors, Harris, two picks. They really value that extra pick in the greatest crap shoot that is the NBA draft? Really? I don’t know about all the other players in the trade that would be going to DEN, but nothing jumps out at me. I actually believe a knick offer of Gallo/Will/AR (or pick from third team for AR) is better than the Nets offer…

  • Anonymous

    Or high draft picks.

  • Anonymous

you sound scarred.Might as well get it through your head,Melo is gonna be a net,and btw, broadway is for tourists

  • Anonymous

    Couple of thoughts:

    1. With Melo’s agents involved, I think that Melo will probably end up in NJ.

    2. Melo looks ticked off, because he knows that he may be forced to go to NJ if he wants the extention and come to the NY area.

    3. Melo has to say silent on the issues. If he winds up in NJ, he can say that he never was against coming to NJ, it was just baseless media reports, he’s excited, etc. Nobody will believe him, but he can take that stance.

    4. Denver may be forcing Melo into three options:

    a. Re-sign with Denver,
    b. Accept a trade to NJ, or
    c. Try your luck in free agency under the new, unknown CBS.

(The fourth option would be to not terminate his current deal and stay with Denver for another year under the old deal until the new CBA settles).

    5. Denver may also force Melo to publicly acknowledge that he doesn’t want to accept a trade to NJ, maybe force him to take a public PR hit. I’m not sure why Denver would want to do this other than if Denver is forced to make a NY deal, they can point to why they got what they got.

    6. I personally think that because of the CBA/lock-out situation, Melo is going to want his extension, and he will eventually be put in a position to take the NJ deal. I think that’s why he looks awful. He knows that he wants no part of NJ, but he may have to accept it (for financial reasons).

  • Anonymous

    Regarding 4(c), “CBA”

  • Anonymous

Denver won’t let Melo see free agency for media reasons. The will be crucified by the media for not getting anything back for Melo. That’s Melo’s leverage there

  • Ryan

    Yeah, Lakewood I believe.

  • Anonymous

Denial aint no river in Egypt.

  • Ryan

He should lowball them because if the reports are true that they won’t even return his phone calls and they know for a fact that Melo won’t sign anywhere but with the Knicks, what else can Denver do? Although I think it will ultimately be Chandler that gets traded and not Gallo.

  • Anonymous

Check out Sheridian’s article… good read. Question number 4 might explain why Melo’s agent are pushing so hard for the trade to NJ.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/1917/five-pending-melo-to-nets-questions

  • Ryan

Could just be shotty reporting about the agent. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve come across reporting that is bad.

  • Anonymous

financial reasons: which i think is RIDICULOUS. i mean if he manged to piss away ALL of his money from his current contract, then he is either one dumb ass man OR he has a cocaine addiction. this man should be able to sit out 2 or 3 cba year long strikes for god sake.

  • http://twitter.com/mweshler Marc Weshler

It’s definitely closer than I thought it would get for Melo going to NJ. Obviously his agents are pushing for a deal so they can get paid, but how do you convince someone to play in NJ when they clearly want NY? If that was my agent I would be pissed off.

  • Ryan

    1. Has his agent come out and say that he is involved? Who reported it?

    2. He looks ticked off because he is tired of hearing about him and Jersey. Remember the last time he was told he was traded to Jersey?

    3. I don’t think he has to stay silent but he will spin it to look like he didn’t mind being there so you’re right.

    4. I don’t think Denver can force him into anything. Melo has stated that he would be willing to chance the new CBA, that it wouldn’t force him to go where he doesn’t want to go. Denever would be insane to not at least take Wilson Chandler in the deal instead of getting nothing.

    5. I see your point but forcing a player into a bad PR move is also a bad PR move for their team. Melo could tell potential free agents to avoid Denver because of how bad they are internally.

    6. I still don’t think he is forced to NJ. It’s a game of chicken right now between Melo and Denver. This blockbuster deal is being discussed now publicly because there is time for Denver to get involved with NY before the trade deadline. No way Denver keeps him past the trade deadline. Look at Cleveland and Toronto, Wilson Chandler and TD or Fields is much better then a trade exception.

Just my opinion. You could very well be spot on.

  • Anonymous

Still have to feel bad for Nets fans lol. The only reason Melo would extend there is not because he wants to play there, but because we wants the money

  • Anonymous

This is really in response to all of the replies above:

    1. I agree that financial reasons may not be what some of us would make our decisions on considering the amount of money these athletes have already made and what they would make. But in my opinion, it will be a big driver in this.

    2. I agree that Denver can’t force Melo into anything. It is a big game of chicken. It really depends on how much Melo is driven by the extension. If he is willing to risk losing that money and be a FA, he will force Denver’s hand. We just don’t know the difference between what his “people” have leaked out and what is really important to him. If it’s about basketball and where he wants to play, he’s in the driver’s seat.

    3. His agent’s involvement has been reported in a few pieces. I don’t have the sources/reports in front of me.

Like many of you, I would hope that Melo is willing to risk the financial loss to join the Knicks. I believe he truly wants to come here. I just believe that he will sign the extension and get the feeling that he will take the NJ deal. We can all point to reasons why he will wind up with the Knicks. I want to believe that the public negotiations are a smoke screen to force the Knicks hand, etc., and I hope I’m wrong. But the video of Melo answering those questions about NJ tells you that he wants no part of NJ. That’s the only thing I can hold on to.

  • Anonymous

Hoopsworld has an article which shows that Houston may have the assets that Denver wants and that they could be a player in all this, not withstanding Melo’s stated or unstated to play in NY and whether that means just the Knicks or not. To me, it looks like Denver is a team that doesn’t want to lose Melo and just can’t pull the trigger on a trade, hoping he will stay. I wouldn’t trade Melo until the last minute either.

One of the problems facing the Knicks is the Knicks can’t offer Denver serious cap relief, meaning taking Billups as well and getting Denver closer to the luxury tax threshold. The other is the lack of first round draft picks of which Denver wants more than one. It doesn’t seem to be about the players going back to Denver, it’s about picks and money.

Now Harrington is the holdup on the deal

Don’t understand why Melo would siign with the Nets

  • Anonymous

    LOL to effin funny!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Joisey if for housewives and josiey shore crew only!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

The Nuggets want New Jersey to take Harrignton instead of Billups for more savings plus to keep Billups a member of that team. NJ hates that because it would leave Jordan Farmar as the starting PG

  • Anonymous

lopez averaged 7 rpg when playing with Amare.

  • http://twitter.com/Weaksideblog Sami Asad

Yeah i’m sure the Nets have spent months negotiating a huge trade for no reason.

  • Anonymous

Not to argue but the most rebounds Lopez has averaged in a season is barley 5 which was last season.

  • http://twitter.com/Weaksideblog Sami Asad

And new jersey has that same amount of money tied up in Travis Outlaw, a crappier version of Harrington

  • Anonymous

however, NJ will do whatever denver wants, so the Harrington switch is just a moot point.

they can act like they want to keep billups all they want, but the truth is that dude has some stroke by saying he will immediately ask for a buyout. loved it.

you dont get mad, you fire him. its simple. he works for you.
this makes me feel as though the kid has NO mind of his own.

its pretty pathetic on melo’s part. he needs to grow a pair

These are some of my thoughts on this whole Melo thing…..

    1. It’s pretty obvious that Masai Ujiri is extremely pissed at the Knicks and Melo because of what has transpired since the Knicks are his choice of destination. What goes around comes around.

    2. I feel that Ujiri is trying to force Melo anywhere besides the Knicks. I also agree with Chris Sheridan that Melo’s agent wants ANY deal to go through because he currently makes zilch from Melo!

    3. Melo would be completely retarded if he thought for a second that NJ is the best thing for him. Why would Melo want to leave Denver to go to NJ and play with Hamilton??? This is ludicrus to even think that Melo would come to play with Hamilton and Lopez. As of now, the Knicks in their current state are so much better than NJ with Melo and Hamilton. He might as well stay in Denver and play with a very competitive team.

    4. It’s crazy to think that the Knicks don’t have pieces that the Nuggets want. Chandler or Gallo are much better than any player the Nets can offer. Again it all comes down to the Masai Ujiri being a prick and willing to do anything for Melo to not get his way.

I feel eventually Masai Ujiri is going to see that he has ZERO leverage and will take NY’s offer. This is when Donnie should lowball him. More than anything, I would love it if Melo waited until the summer to stick it to Masai Ujiri.

Look at the video from the post and you can see how annoyed he is with the speculation of him and the Nets!

So the Knicks still don’t have assetts? New Jersey is 10-27, NY is 21-15!

Denver is run by some really stubborn people.
