Video: Jenkins Talks Workout

    Confident kid.

  • Anonymous

Funny, 6 1 1/2 talking about his size being a strength.  Better be able to run the point.
Not someone I’d take as early as 17, but a flyer later, sure.

  • Anonymous

He didn’t mention the word “pass” once. He even tallied about creating for himself but never mentioned anything related to being a future PG for this team.

Brooks or shumpert at #17 and Im satisfied

  • Guest

Tommy Dee ,Will we look back at this draft and wonder why we passed on Jenkins and he is a star on the Nets or the Bulls?

  • Anonymous

We get a big man that can play big and a coach that can coach and I’m rather satisfied for the moment.

  • Anonymous

Looks like the Warriors are already sick of D-Lee. So glad we didn’t re-sign him! Funny that our two best scorers, and our starting PG a year ago (Lee, Harrington and Duhon) are now untradeable, except for bad contracts. Now clue why those players all got such ridiculous contracts. I guess nobody in their FO watched the Knicks, not that I can blame them.

By the way, it shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody if West tries to open up talks to include Lee in some mammoth trade endeavor. But I can’t see the Warriors getting anything other than bad money in return for such an onerous long-term contract this summer. They aren’t going get any value for him. “Might take another year before they can move that contract,” one NBA exec said recently.

  • Anonymous

    But he’s an “All-Star”!

  • Anonymous

I don’t see the majority of players being bandied about as worthy of the 17th pick in this draft. Perhaps we have a deal in place for a lower 1st, early 2nd rounder. Brooks, Shumpert, Jenkins, and Jackson are guys that you can get at 25-28. Sure a few of them will go earlier, but one of them will be there.

  • Anonymous

Is this kid really a point guard? Or just another short 2 guard player looking to redefine his game?

  • Anonymous

LOL – anxious to hear from the Lee fanboys on how he developed his game in NY..

Looks like he developed himself into a one way player

But Lee does everything Amare does, plus he is a better rebounder!

For all those are upset the kid didn’t talk about being a PG in the 30 second video clip above:

Maybe the best thing about signing STAT is that it stopped us from giving Lee a horrible contract. If Amare doesn’t sign with us, there is no way we don’t keep Lee, probably at close the the max because we would be desperate.

  • Anonymous

There is a huge difference between a player and his contract. The Lee signing was clearly a bad one and I’m glad we didn’t offer him mad money.

Playing for a better team than the Knicks, Lee went from the main man to the fourth option. He shot 50% and ended up with 16.5 ppg, 9.8 boards, and 3.2 assists for the season. If that’s your fourth option, it’s fine. If that’s someone you signed for a huge 6 year deal, that’s bad.

To add on to DylanNYK article about D Lee I found this tidbit

“Meanwhile, Lee and Ellis are not close pals–one source indicates that Ellis at one point last season informed coach Keith Smart that, if possible, he wanted no part of being around Lee, except on the court.

    LMAO!

Yeah, it was a horrible signing, especially for a team that already struggled a lot defensively. I think anybody who watched the Knicks knew how bad that contract was. Not saying he is a terrible player, but he has HUGE holes in his game and inflated numbers from playing under D’Antoni and without a C.

Yep but just not as explosive on the offensive end as Amare!

Give lovethoseknicks ten minutes with his calculator and he will explain how Lee is a better player than Amar’e and how Gallo was better than Melo

Now I’m upset that he seems upset with having to be a point guard.  “Unfortunately, cause of my height” – PASS

Just for a laugh, here is a report of Lee’s defense from DraftExpress back in 2009. Of course, he’s no Corey Brewer.

    Defense: A solid defensive
player due to his athleticism and effort level. Very good at defending
players that like to stake out in the high post. Has the lateral
quickness to stay in front of most power forwards. Suffocates his man
on the perimeter when he knows he has a quickness advantage. Isn’t a
great defender in back to the basket situations, but fights hard for
position, doesn’t let his man get anything easy, and always gets a hand
up. Will get beaten by stronger players who don’t get intimidated by
his physical style of player. Does a good job going straight up and
committing a ton of silly fouls at the rim. Isn’t much of a shot
blocker, but will rotate over from the weakside to contest shots. Gets a
lot of deflections, but not many steals. Shows great anticipation on
the glass. Always seems to be boxing out and getting in on the actions
on the glass. Extremely productive as a rebounder. Plays a very smart
brand of defense for a player with his level of experience, although
he’ll probably never be a great defender due to his average size and
    bulk. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Scouting-Reports-Atlantic-Division-Part-Two–3092/#ixzz1OtO3OsEq

Not feeling Jenkins at 17, but I he’d be on my short list for a later pick.

Ellis seems like a real azz from what I’ve heard.  LOL I wonder what’s going on over there?

No need to sh** all over Lee now.  He’s a good player.  He aint’ Amar’e and he ain’t worth the contract GS gave him but he’s a good player nonetheless.

    Singleton or bust….. D E F E N S E

    Singleton at 17

Shumpert or Lee later on if we can get another pick. I want athletes that defend

I think the Defensive Coordinator should be Florida State’s head coach, Dude knows how best to use Douglas and if we draft Singleton him as well. Dude made Douglas ACC defender of the year and Singleton as well. If anyone can make Douglas reach his defensive potential its Florida States’ Head Coach.

Not a Lee fan boy but Stat’s on the ball defense is no great prize either.

LOL, I wouldn’t go that far. But Gallo & Lee would be great pieces for a team that had established stars say oh uh like the Knicks or Heat. Unfortunately Golden State over valued Lee and Denver is getting drunk on Gallo’s upside when they should accept him for what he is.

Kemba & Jenkins the return of the NYC PG!!!!.

Maybe that is why Ellis is being Shopped, GSW must think DLee is more important to the success of the team then a chucker, I would trade Ellis for a Defensive wing player, I would call Chicago and Philly and ask about Deng or Iggy

No they know _avi_’s contract is like the HIV virus and no one wants to take that on.

Ellis’ contract is like a 2nd round rookie in terms of value in comparison to his.

Yeah the Warriors are all over w trade talks. it seems to me that they are in a rebuilding mode of sorts, or at least tailoring the team to Mark Jackson’s desires…..Yhey’ve made Monta available as well, I wonder if there’s any way the Knicks could acquire him.  They don’t really have many tradable assets but if they buy a late first rd pick, I think things could get interesting. Minnesota is looking to move Beasley(they are said to be interested in moving him if they get Williams at two)  would Minn. move bease and their 20 pick to NY, for Turiaf and Knicks 17 pick (i’m sure minnesota would be even more intrigued if Fredette were still on the board at 17)

Could the Knicks then Take Beas, Toney Douglas and 20 to acquire Ellis.
Use the late 1st rounder on a big,  Tyler, Reed, Jajuan Johnson
Then use the MLE for a starting C (Dalembert) and the Bi-Annual (Grant Hill)

It would be a dope lineup for sure
Billups, Ellis, Fields, Hill, Melo, Amare, Shawne Williams, Dalembert, plus whoever we get late in the first round n camp Invitees.

_Avi_ Lee is a prime example that you can’t judge players by their numbers. He’s the epitome of a loser: he’s always played on losing teams and winning teams never tried to sign him when they had the opportunity to do so because he doesn’t play a winning style of basketball. He’s a bench player at best on a playoff contender – actually I wouldn’t be surprised if 10 years from now _Avi_ Lee had not played a single playoff game in his NBA career.

shows the _Antoni effect on his game.

he was a smart “gritty” defender in his first year in NY.  But his years with _Antoni atrophied his defensive skills.

Shumpert can defend heard he impressed Walsh with his D in Chicago
