Barkley To LBJ: Put Me on Top of the List
Via AOL Fanhouse
“I heard about LeBron’s little tweet today that he’s remembering everybody who said anything bad about him,” Barkley said Thursday on ESPN Radio 103.3 FM in Dallas/Fort Worth. “And he said ‘everybody.’ Well, I want him to make sure that he puts my name on that (list).
“I thought that his little one-hour special was a punk move. I thought them dancing around on the stage was a punk move, and I thought he should’ve stayed in Cleveland. Him joining Dwyane Wade‘s team was very disappointing to me.”
Barkley cracks me up.
Speaking of ESPN Radio, I will be on 1040 ESPN in Tampa at 4 pm.
TD on ESPN 1050 Tonight
Listen as I join Jon Rothstein tonight on ESPN 1050. I should be on around 10:25.
LJ to the Bulls?
Larry Johnson, the former No. 1 overall draft pick, is interested in (an assistant coaching) job and visited the team recently.
Johnson has a history with new Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau. Johnson played for the New York Knicks from 1996-2001, while Thibodeau was on the coaching staff working under Jeff Van Gundy. Since retiring in 2001, Johnson has not held any formal coaching jobs.
Jeff Van Gundy, who, Tibodeau worked for here, called LJ the “greatest teammate” he’s ever coached while on the air with us on TKB Radio. It would be no surprise to see him end up with his former assistant coach.
TD on The Press Box
I’m about to go on as a co-host with Rob Adams and Ryan DeMaria on “The Press Box” on The Lifestyle Talk Radio Network from 2-3pm.

Tune into TKB Radio tonight at 9 PM with Anthony “Rice Balls” Donahue and special guest Toney Douglas. The draft is tomorrow and a lot of rumors are circulating. A year ago, Toney Douglas was one of the college prospects anxiously waiting to hear their name be called by an NBA team. The Knicks acquired Douglas then, so will Donnie Walsh try to do the same this year? All of that draft talk and your awesome phone calls.

TKB Radio Recap With Mike James
In case you missed TKB Radio last night with Anthony “Rice Balls”, check it out by clicking on the TKB Radio player to the right or simply go here.
On the show, Anthony had a special, PG Mike James formerly of the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets, among other teams. James, a New York native, is going to be a free agent this summer, in a summer during which Donnie Walsh will certainly be looking for backcourt help.
I have always liked Mike James’ fearlessness on the court and his ability to hit shots. He has been in the playoffs during his career and he certainly has confidence.
In the interview (near the end of the show), Mike James talks about the turmoil that existed in Washington last year. James talks about the Arenas debacle, as well as how Flip Saunders was not the right coach for the job. Surprisingly, James also spoke about how he was told by the franchise to stay home for road trips.
A few tidbits that I liked included his quote on how he is always the first one in the gym and the last one to leave (he said that he was actually in the gym during the interview). He also spoke about how he tries to be a contributor to the greater community. Most importantly, he said that he would love to rock the blue and orange next season.
Perhaps Donnie Walsh will give James a call and give him a shot to revive his career in New York. This team can use shooters, and James for his career has shot nearly 38% from beyond the arc. James is more of a scorer than a distributor, and Rafer Alston, another NY native and veteran free agent point guard, is more of a distributor than a scorer. Walsh will likely not go into this season without depth at the point, and perhaps he will give either James or Alston a call to try and fill out this roster.
Exciting News for TKB Radio…
Some exciting things going on with TKB Radio, which has had a great year with a
tremendous list of guests including Walt Frazier, Brandon Tierney, Jeff Van Gundy, Kenny Anderson, Wilson Chandler, Brian Windhorst, Eric Snow and Scoop Jackson to name a few. Obviously, we thank all of those people for their time and for Rice Balls for his efforts.
I’ve been in discussions with a local radio station in the Westchester Area to bring the show to a studio to enhance the quality of the listen, so if you are interested or know someone who would like to sponsor, please e-mail me at theknicksblog@gmail.com. We have a loyal fanbase and it’s a wonderful advertising opportunity.
Also, thanks to Steiner Sports who are going to provide us with some giveaway Knicks memorabilia that Rice will be giving away all summer long. This Monday we’ll be giving away an autographed Wilson Chandler picture.

Cleveland Beat Writer Sets the Record Straight
(Fast Forward to 91 minutes into the show for Brian Windhorst)
Now, I know I’ve said I would hold off from talking about Lebron, but thanks to Anthony, Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer was on the radio show last night and had some very interesting things to say. We’re working on the podcast, but for now we’ll talk about a question that I asked.
We all know James had gone on record saying he “wouldn’t stop” until he won in Cleveland, which led people to believe that he meant if he lost this season, it was a given he’d return. Others had been on record saying it would be easier for him to leave if he won. Although the case can most certainly be made either way, Windhorst doesn’t agree it’s a given that if the Cavs lose this year, Lebron will definitely stay.
“…I think it’s flawed thinking,” Windhorst told us. “If you don’t like your situation and you don’t think you can win, it doesn’t make sense to sink yourself in one place and one of the things Lebron has done is guaranteed himself flexibility to where he can go.”
“Forget that it’s his hometown, Lebron was not a Cavs fan growing up. He’s invested seven years into the project of winning a title and when you’re 25 years old, that’s a quarter of your life,” he continued. “If you put seven years into anything, you want it to hit it’s high note. I think he was more talking about trying to get it this year and completing this project, as opposed to making a long term statement about his future.”
We also touched on many different topics including the fact that Windhorst believes this is Lebron’s decision to make fully, and won’t lean on his mother or anyone else in his entourage all that much, if at all, and Windhorst admitted that any team with Lebron has a chance to win, which to me debunks the idea that NY would be a straight “rebuilding” project.

ESPN’s Scoop Jackson will join us tonight on TKB Radio having had to cancel last minute on Monday. Also, we are pleased to announce that Brian Windhorst, the fine writer from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, will hop on during the second hour to talk about everything surrounding the Cavs and like, you know, maybe the career of Larry Nance or something.
